Comments on "On the Street....Sartorial Denim, Florence"
great great great !
I don't know that I've ever seen such beautifully tailored denim. The accessories provide personal and unexpected touches.
www.thesluicebox.com
love the blue combination
very stylish man with cigar.
LOx
i wouldn't be surprised if this picture became a trend
I love the masculine chest hair and the feminine lace right next to each other.
I guess sometimes denim works :P

Denim jackets are back? Aieee - run for your life. Next the leisure suit? Polyester flares? I see a future as a wind sock at a community airport for my skinny jeans!
Again have to say, love how italian men dress!
www.nolitavintage.com
beautiful mix of textures
love the rayban glasses!
xx http://asianeyedgirl.blogspot.com/
His attitude looks as good as his jacket :)
Is that a brooche I see?
That hanky has got to be vintage or with a lace detail that speaks to another age, crochet or tatting. What an unusual choice, along with the little denim flower, for this man. The blues and whites sing a serene melody to me. I love it.
Denim Jackets are back, but from the look of this photo with a bit of a twist... I really love his jacket. Amazing.
i love the blazer, his attitude, his hair, and those aviators.
perfect!
It's all in the details! :)
this screams euro-cool to me. but if you told me this guy was in florida I would think american-trying too hard.
The man looks very sharp.

It's incredible how the decidedly "feminine" elements (the patch, the lace hankerchief) don't add up to a "feminine" look- instead, this guy oozes sensual masculinity! Well played!

great phootoo! amazing your blog and great stylish!
kisses from http://www.sweetstyleblog.com/
You gotta love a man that wears a little lace. So refreshing!
LOVING how fantastically tailored this denim is.
That 5 o'clock shadow + aviator sunnies aren't a bad addition either ;)
I love this photograph and your subject. What an ironic play of pure masculinity with almost feminine touches to the denim jacket. Sort of mind blowing in a way. Not that it matters to me whether this man is gay or straight, but there is a certain wonderment to all that's going on here. He looks as "manly" as they come, but the suede flower and simple country lace handkerchief throw me way off the beat and track. Big smiles here, he's got my interest! Love the pants, the gorgeous shirt, and the jacket? Whats not to love. He is one sexy man!
Oh my... Love this! Loook at the fine details on the lapel - it looks like it has handstitched topstitching! The ever so slightly faded areas at the tip of the lapels and cuffs. (the only thing that might make it better would be bound button holes, but that may have added too much bulk to the front - impairing the beautiful way the jackets opens in front...) And the peek of the pretty hanky and the tonal plaid shirt - very refreshing in a bit of an unexpected way.
That close-up detail of the contrasting denim flower and the lace edged pocket square really illustrates the care that Italian men take when dressing.
We'll never see this in Canada. Italian men seem to be able to make anything look elegant and masculine at the same time, even denim and lace!
i love the lace and flowered pin on this jacket but what i love even more is the dark blue single stitching on outer pocket.
love love love.

I personally dislike the lace pocket square, but I do like the color coordination of the white pocket square with the white pants, and the light blue shirt with the denim.
i agree with nolita....italian men have superior taste. the end. beautiful!
thecoffeeexperiment.blogspot.com
It looks like the pick-stitching on the lapel and pocket edge was done by hand. Very common on a well made wool jacket, love seeing it with denim!
He can only be Italian. It is not smart or have good taste, but I like it.
I love this relaxed summer look, very casual but still looks stylish
www.arashmazinani.com
Makes me want to go shopping today to see if I can find a nicely tailored denim or chambray shirt to wear on "casual Fridays".
I saw such a shirt at the old Barneys (where Loehmann's is now). It had a cutaway collar and French cuffs.
superelegante.
absolutamente perfecto
I have been wanting to get this for my husband but then it is pretty much of a waste in Indian weather! Classy and casual wear.
That looks totally amazing!
He looks dow to earth, but also a bit James Bond. :)
http://fashionationlife.blogspot.com/
really?!
wow this quite the statement. i can attest to loving denim like this. but it's hard to be completely convinced whether it's a fast passing fad or not
the pattern of the shirt is just incredible.
wow!

classy yet fun!

He looks amazing!Just such amazing style and personality.
http://it-stylist.blogspot.com/
Oh. So handsome!
wow. what a subtle and amazing sense of style. great look.
I love this look, it is denim refined. And about the blogger who said skinny jeans are passe, they are.
I'm not huge on the jacket, but its the lace I love in this outfit
lardini killing it as always
Love it all!
ok, that's style.
Again, enough cannot be said for the re-introduction of the handkerchief to the blazer. But the real story here is the absolute beauty of the shirt!
so i know i'm supposed to be focusing on what he is wearing.. but i think i just fell in love with him. he is beautiful!
love it!!! the cute, childish boutonnier, and the lovely pocket square complement his outfit so well... my only regret is that his shirt is printed not woven.
love,
agnes
girly in such a manly way <3
that jean jacket is out of this world. love it

OMG I am in love! To use such a sensitive pocket square says something about this quintessential
gentleman ...

is that a denim poppy! great pics
http://www.dolls-and-guys.blogspot.com/
This is a great example of blues coming together beautifully...The turquoise in the shirt with the dark denim is stunning....I also love white pants...white pants only enhances the other items...Great details: white embroidered handkerchief ...and is that a small flower made of denim?...beauty is in the details...PERFECT.
wow... very nice combination and detals :)
we need more chic and comfortable just like this in womens fashion
Denim always works!
So beautyfull...

What an amazing look! Very elegant dandy of the 21st Century
Such a strong look- yet so simple
www.streetchicphilly.com
Sexy! In a Al Pacino kinda way ;-)
Hmm... is this Pocket Square & T-shirt man again? If so, he's bringing things up a notch, with a lacy pocket square and a much more prominent little beaded flower.
I wonder what the flowers signify, and if he makes them himself for his own reasons or if it's a bigger trend in Florence.
He's one of those people I'd truly like to ask about their look. I think he looks great, but there are curious little details I want to know about.
http://cloudofsecrets.blogspot.com
such a fresh and sophisticated look. i really like the cool color and lightness of the outfit!
www.sarathomas.etsy.com
Perfecto!
Yes to everything...his shirt pattern is a major plus and a well done blue jean sport coat is a major coup!
well hello!
this is a lardini jacket, with the typical felt flower (first introduced in 2009 A/W collection, if i remeber)! great outfit...and great photos!
This is just too much to take... Where are these men?
bellissimo...
This is the most beautiful denim fabric I have seen!
If you love textiles, you hafta love this! (I can't imagine denim ever being over-with.)
It will endure 'til the end of time
.
Lace hankerchief? Fearless originality! Bravo!
--JW
<3 it.
http://pinkpopmash.blogspot.com
Very witty combination of fabrics: the hound's-tooth shirt, the fine denim, and the crochet-edged square peeping from the pocket. Nicely tailored too, though I suspect the jacket sleeves are a bit too long.
he can pull off the denim jacet so well!
http://ssecondskin.blogspot.com
ohhlala, how handsome. the feminine touch on lapel/pocket + delicate houndstooth: tres fabulous!
i love so much "your men", because they aren't afraid of using a lot details, colors and accesories...and they're still sooo masculine!!
http://joursrouges.blogspot.com/
IT'S NOT FAIR...
they were italian...
they were born to be gorgeous!!!
A denim jacket that isnt a...denim jacket !
http://www.idealindreamers.blogspot.com/
Keyhole button holes, hand top-stitching on dart seams, bound pockets, set-in sleeves!
elegant....!!!
Love,
Beny Ricardo Sadewo
http://showoffdotnu.blogspot.com/
His dress is a good taste. He are trying to say something from his motion.
http://blog.powersellerunion.com/
it's always in the details. laced pocket square, how could you go wrong?
http://nouveauskin.blogspot.com
hot, hot, hot,
bloody felt flowers are popping up everywhere
is that a doilie in his pocket?
i'm all for spontaneous accessorizing but uhh...well...yeah...
LOVE!!
Not to many people could pull the lace off & still look manly. He manages to do it with ease!
http://lisapetrarca.blogspot.com/2010/08/final-day-of-us-open.html
I don't know. When I look at this jacket it seems beautifully constructed, but tailored denim just seems goofy to me. I like the lace pocket square though.
This is a great shot, especially because it captures something well rehearsed and slightly off putting, not sure if it is the doily, the cigar or the combination of both.
love denim!!.. Blue's on blues are a favorite look..
love your work Scott!!
Jay..
http://foryourSATISFASHION.com
Probably the coolest denim jacket I've seen in a while. Understated and neat.
http://patagoniacommunity.blogspot.com/
You do a great service posting these wonderful shots of people from everywhere. Sometimes I come to gaze and always go home in a better mood.
INCONTEX PANTS

xx
great jacket!!!
love the lace and button!
My vote goes against the sartorial denim. At least here. I would say that it lacks an element of "coolness" that denim implies although, aesthetically, it's an interesting proposition. Everything else works very well, especially the shirt.
No to the doily in the breast pocket.
wow. that's goooood.
kind of can't believe my eyes. delish juxtapositions.
I don't think that's a handkerchief in his pocket...
amazing - love the cigar !
His mood is great.
is that a Tom Ford shirt? Nice blue!
Gorgeous man with a Great Sense of Style.
OMG!!!
I could marry him :p
This blazer is wonderful and that pochette is amazing! wow! Great style! <3
www.abitoffashion.com
great style...I love denim
Ummm, is the lace pocket square a step too far? It's not just feminine, it's girly.
i can't believe he put the lace there! great way to use all this italian lace my great grandma passed down! my husband is italian and he prefers to dress american style..ughhh...i need to show him more of these pics..thank sartorialist! bellissime foto..
This is the kind of future I want. Complete laid back style. Love it. Can say nothing more.
http://www.realityhypothetically.blogspot.com/
oh man
stunning man!
nice work using nonna's old lace as a pocket square
Oh Gosh! This is fabulous! I love Italy! Great Skills!
I love your post, they are great, I hope you pass for my new blog ...
bisses
Dream Boyfriend...
This looks Great!
I love the details !!! Awesome picture and guy...
www.larecessionista.fr
I like the contrast of the denim to the glen plaid shirt. However, I like neither the folded ladies' handkerchief/doily/antimacassar or whatever is in his pocket nor the something that looks like an antitheft sensor in his lapel buttonhole. Call it a matter of taste.
I love the little lapel flower and pochette... gives rugged demin a softer touch!
I found it better without the button and the handkerchief. I bought such a Jeans Sakko as well in July ;()
Why don't you see more denim jackets like this? My opinion of them might change if they were more of these.
Wow~! I like it! Nicely taylored denim jackets and a cute pin and pocket square.
BYW, doesn't look like an older version of Marc Jacobs a bit???
www.lamodedekika.blogspot.com
No backwater tux here!
Becca
what brand is the pen he's carrying
Beautiful shirt and outfit. I am surprised by how many comments there are stating how well-dressed the Italians or the Europeans are, and how the women wish they could be with such. I accept that generally, throughout the US, men dress and look like 12 year olds, or just boring, however, NY, Miami, LA, SF? Please Sart., some photographic evidence that certain US men "get it"? tks
mysterious and moody - that works!
Really cute and unexpected details...it's impressive that you noticed.
Bless him for not wearing a gold necklace with this. He's really sublime. The shirt is so beautiful and not for nothing, but you're really getting me hooked on pocket stuffings.
That's quite a nice look, but isn't the general the rule:
'Bouttoniere or pocket square but never both, unless you're a roue or a cad.'
Then again, he's probably both, so never mind.
It would be very helpful to know where to get this... Unless you're expecting us to buy it when it hits H&M :s
If I'm not mistaken, that looks like a Montblanc ballpoint.
Denim jackets have their place but like my guru, Charlie Davidson at The Andover Shop, says about bow ties, "You shouldn't wear them more often than you eat liver."
wow. what a handsome man. very refined, elegant and modern at the same time.
Gorgeous denim jacket and it goes so well with his pale blue and white shirt, so fresh! makes me think of summer.
Denim is the most utilitarian of all textile. It's great to see it used in a more 'dressed-up'context than usual.
I am speechless.... So beautiful!
Ooh la la! Gorgeous!
Wow. I love Italia. How can I get an introduction?
Beautiful combo of blues and textures!
Why is it that American men NEVER dress like this? From the lace handkerchief (LUV) to the Mont Blanc pen (I own a paper shop- REALLY LUV this)- not to mention the boutineer... accessorized details to the nth degree!
Joan Schnee
http://www.onpaper.com
LOVE THIS OUTFIT!!!! WOW VEWRY CLASSY!
He's really stunning here and on the previous photos too!
And he looks like Dave Gahan))
Amazingly put together look perfect jacket, lace trim, boutineer.
First cigar smoker I've see who looked great since Steve McQueen in Thomas Crown affair.
Italian men have the most style in the world.
It's all in that touch of lace.
super sexy face...love the hair, beard and cigar along with the jacket details.
My dad would love this.....

-diary of a fashion stylist-
You say that "italian men have superior taste"...I agree but...you are talking about all these photos on Sartorialist.
Please come in Italy to see ALL italian men on the street!!
What a fantastic little detail
Oh WOW! I can't believe what I'm seeing, this is so perfect.
I'll say it again. It's all, absolutely ALL in that touch of lace.
He looks a lot like the Venetian violinist Giuliano Carmignola -- who was teaching in Siena at the Chigiana between the 7-21 of July ...
Just one word: Gorgeous!
I cannot even relate to the cloths as this man is so sexy!!!! I don't remember when I last got excited about a photo... or a new man :)))
I had a denim suit custom made for me from Gianluca Isaia and it is my favorite piece in my closet. I have had to spare its usage for fear of wearing it to death!! LOL Not to mention all the compliments I have received.
This is a great look. I imagine him at the track betting on the horses in the next race.
I am really digging this look
oh lala a denim blazer has never looked so good!
some of you are HIGH+LARRY+US
high fashion? a touch of lace?
he took a doily off his mother's kitchen table, folded it up and put it in his breast pocket! aye-YAH !
the shirt is off the hook tho
As Anonymous pointed out, the Jacket is Lardini. They come with the filt flowers. And yes - the jackets are truly amazing is both style and quality
Only a self assured man like this can get away with wearing a blue poppy and lace handkerchief.
Blue denim blazer a knockout. The pocket hanky looks too much like the trim six year old girls have around the bottom of their leggings but overall he looks pretty good.
The look is great but in fact this man could wear old rags and still look gorgeus.
Nice shirt.
WOW!
Wonderful details!
http://gratiaars.blogspot.com/
wow, i love the intricate details on his handkercheif.
i love him style!!
this pochette is fantastic!!!
i love this! It makes me want to put a pocket square in all of my blazers!
thelibertybelleblog.blogspot.com
So elegant!
Ye gods, these Italian men!
Cuter than cute! Just fabulous elegant creativity.
The pocket detail just killed me, had to be Italian, yes!
Azzuro I have been fortunate to spend much time in Italia
Always in Italia we see a dignity amongst the older generation, that is sadly missing here in the US, except maybe NY of course. I am always so impressed to see the retired men sitting amongst friends, taking the sun and chatting or playing cards. They dress with a sense of decorum and style in their dark sweaters or sports coats, a nice hat. Even those of modest means set an example of elegance to the younger generation.
A very stylish way to wear denim, looks fantastico!
I really like the boutonniere. Do you have any idea where this is bought ? I think this is not the first of this type I am seeing on your photographs from Italy.
Thank you !
super spunky.
I want marry with him!! Help me!!
Seriously sly charmer.
yes, yes. this is the kinda man.
The pocket square's mischievous :P
is that a pin or a lapel flower? ive been seeing A LOT of those popping up. thinking about getting one like http://jandhp.bigcartel.com/product/yellow-and-pink does any one know another site for them?
ma che bell' uomo !
