Yes, I want to sit down to have a coffee and chat with this man. His hat looks ever so slightly feminine but the rest of his outfit balances it. And, I don't typically like turtlenecks on men but he wears it so nicely. Elegant and masculine. And the tattoo on his wrist...

my own prejudice I admit, but are you a neatlty tailored kleen guy or a scruffy Grateful Dead guy? I know, I know some say you can be both but for me the contradiction is too strong. Boys under twelve can pull it off because we know their moms made them dress up.

Quite a few camel coats photographed this winter,I like the pocket scarf in this one as it adds a touch of color

Blogger Kristen said ... (5:20 PM) :

I love this! It's so well-photographed!

I love guys in turtleneck sweaters, and I love this jacket. I love the details, like the cut of the lapel and the popped collar, and the front pocket. The blue and white of the handkerchief contrasts nicely against the neutrals he's wearing. Love the hat, too! Is it a fedora with the brim turned up?

His facial hair is perfectly trimmed, too. Not out-of-control.

Love it!

Blogger haikarapaprika said ... (8:53 PM) :

The outfit is so casual yet put together - perfect for this afternoon (?) setting. I especially like the detail of the pocket bandana, and the hat is a good choice for this man. However, since when is it polite to leave a hat on at a restaurant/café, while drinking/eating? Maybe the rules are different in Italy, maybe it's time to re-define them.

Blogger Melissa G said ... (9:27 PM) :

I like this photo. And such an interesting looking man. I bet everyone is wondering who he is. ;)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:35 PM) :

so refreshing to know that there are still men who dress like this in the 21st century.

Anonymous iMarketNY said ... (11:08 PM) :

The essence of candid. There is concentration without pose and momentum to the action even in the freeze of the photo. The pocket kerchief is a winner. Separates the sheep from the goats!

Anonymous D.Reale said ... (4:15 AM) :

I've been living in Italian for 2 years now and have only used Milan as a stop over on my way to France, but I will soon be spending a few days there! If there was ever a place to find info on the 'what's-what' of Milano it would be here! Question A. Where is this cafe, should I go? Ques. B. The fun shopping is where!?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:55 AM) :

Come on...no need to get og the hat and coat, he is just probably enjoying a quick, dark and short but intense italian espresso before going bakc to whatever he is doing (not a half-gallon Starbucks coffee you need an hour to drink...)P ;)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:45 AM) :

Darlings. It's Italy. He is standing at a counter having a quick coffee. No need to remove the hat in such circumstances. It's as good as being "outdoors".

Plus, he's adorable, and stop picking on him!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:03 PM) :

I think this photo is perfect. Your skills as a portraitist are amazing. He looks perfectly natural and yet, elegant. It's hard to believe you got him mid-sip yet it is so composed as a photo. Bravo.

Anonymous fashionsdirtylaundry said ... (12:23 PM) :

His name is Lukas Haas, he's an American actor (Inception, Witness) and one of my personal hearthrobs for years and years. Good to see he's got some flare of his own!

What is with you people and this stiff-lipped "indoor" manners you speak of? Rules are made to be broken. Think outside the box.
