On the Street....The Hat That Makes the Suit, Paris

I love the less structured, relaxed nature of his suit, but the whole look rests on the coordinated slouch of his hat.

This is also one of those looks that, if worn exactly the same way as this gentleman, would look great on the right girl.

I totally agree with you, the proportions are amazing. He has a kind of refinement to his face and the way he holds himself that act as a juxtaposition to the actual outfit itself. You have such an incredible eye.

Blogger Liv said ... (10:41 AM) :

This is incredible. Slouchy sharp. He wears it well.

Anonymous Wlady said ... (10:59 AM) :

Completly agree, love it !

Love the relaxed fit of this suit. Been seeing alot of this silhouette lately for mens suits. The hat relaxes the look even more as well as complete the look. Good job brethren!!

Blogger Isabella said ... (11:37 AM) :

he looks classical but a little casual. perfect!!

Blogger TorontoVerve Street Style said ... (11:54 AM) :

He looks good....

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:56 AM) :

I would tuck in my shirt. But nice look anyway. Nice turnup on the pants and I dig the shiny shoes.

Anonymous proletarian Great Gatsby said ... (12:16 PM) :

I agree with you.I can see it and for diferent kind of women...perhaps with a transparent blouse...

Blogger Lisa Petrarca said ... (12:21 PM) :

Definitely...that hat gives the whole suit a funky edge to it!

Blogger La Boheme said ... (12:24 PM) :

Nice look and he definitely wears it well. As a girl I would wear it too! xo

Anonymous chiclittlecity said ... (12:43 PM) :

Agreed. Love menswear inspired looks on women...though it most definitely takes a certain kind women to wear it well.

Blogger MONICA SORS said ... (12:48 PM) :

I love the men in hats! They look classic and modern at the same a picture that I have post in my blog (from Paris, of course...)

Blogger the nickel fit said ... (12:49 PM) :

less tapered for the summer, such ease.

Blogger FASHION SNAG said ... (12:53 PM) :

Great look! he looks fabulous. x

Blogger Elizabeth said ... (12:58 PM) :

very sweet photo. you're right, the hat really completes it!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:10 PM) :

He's adorable from the waist up. The crotch of the pants is too low and there's too much fabric overall.

Blogger The Styleograph said ... (1:20 PM) :

u have to find and shoot such a girl...would be really interesting...personaly i am not into his suit

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:35 PM) :

I agree. Who makes this suit anyway?

Blogger Jessica Yu said ... (1:40 PM) :

You are so right. This is incredibly amazing looking on him- the perfect mixture of formal but casual

I'd wear this :) probably with shorts instead though haha or else i'd look like a confused boy from behind!

Blogger Meg said ... (1:54 PM) :

For me it's the glasses that really caught my eye. If I had passed him in the street without them I probably would have taken a second glance, but forgotten him.

Anonymous jenb said ... (2:14 PM) :

So true, except the shoes. Maybe some b&w oxford heels.

Blogger KristiMcMurry said ... (2:22 PM) :

nice! I love his subtle facial hair.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:39 PM) :

Uber Stylish :)

Blogger Sammi said ... (3:06 PM) :

I want my boyfriend in that!

Blogger Unknown said ... (3:29 PM) :

If this a trend it's an important direction - a return to a balanced profile - both sharp and casual - this chap has really thought this through.

The shape of the shoe balanced by a wider cut of trouser compliments the crisp shoulder and beautifully proportioned jacket - mature and considered.

The softness of the T shirt and the hat are a perfect compliment - gently witty.

Well done you for finding him, and well done him,
clever boy.

Blogger s t y l i s h m u s e said ... (3:31 PM) :

Nice picture but I'm not a fan of this look. I prefer the italian suits that make men look elegant and cool at the same time to this I-don't-even-know-how-to-describe-look. But THAT hat has saved this look from a catastrophe.

Blogger Beth said ... (3:49 PM) :

I am not in love with this look, but what I do like is that although the suit is very relaxed, it still fits him and doesn't look like he borrowed it from his dad! The addition of the hat makes me think this guy doesn't take himself too seriously.

Blogger Mi Armario En Ruinas said ... (4:01 PM) :

that´s right!!

Blogger djespuhr said ... (4:13 PM) :

I love this look! How pants fit baggy and the jacket fits perfect

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:14 PM) :

funny. i had the opposite reaction. i think the hat makes him look a little like a bum - it ruins the rest of the look. the suit is great, though. and thank goodness, no ankles showing. so tired of seeing pedal-pushers on men.

Anonymous cee said ... (4:28 PM) :

Scott, that's so true!
it looks so wonderful!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:33 PM) :

i wish i was that girl <3

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:48 PM) :

Annie hall..........

Anonymous olafgermany said ... (5:28 PM) :

I love to wear it directly like this. I prefer this silhoutte in generally and love wide leg trousers.

Anonymous ioana said ... (5:32 PM) :

Gorgeous guy.

Blogger Notes From ABroad said ... (6:05 PM) :

He is just so very cool.

Blogger brightlightsbigcity said ... (7:16 PM) :

a girl WOULD look really cool in the suit. off to the tailors!

Anonymous ravnish gandhi said ... (7:22 PM) :

is this dans la marais..?

Anonymous Jessica said ... (8:04 PM) :

so what exactly makes "the right girl"?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:10 PM) :

Absolutely love it! Great Look! Especially with the hat and glasses

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:54 PM) :

Does any one know where I can get shoes like that????

Anonymous Mallory said ... (9:33 PM) :

I completely agree with EVERYTHING you said. Spot on!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:54 PM) :

i love the suit but the shoes disappoint.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:34 AM) :

I really can't see how anyone could argue with this...except I might wear different shoes.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:53 AM) :

Loving his style, very relaxed. I totally agree with you. Spot on, spot on!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:00 AM) :

Excellent look all told. He seems like someone who'd be interesting to talk with and easy to be around.

Blogger Álvaro said ... (6:49 AM) :

love the suit

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:04 AM) :

Shoes spoil this look....

Blogger Shamini said ... (10:09 AM) :

i guess for a girl, with heels this would look divine!

Blogger Kathleen said ... (1:50 PM) :

I love his outfit, and yes I would wear it. I love hats, especially Fedoras and Berets. Love the men's look, thank you Mr. Lauren! His look is a bit dark, almost like he's pre-fall but still I like it a lot. Very eclectic!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:45 PM) :

the jacket is cut a little too short. but so what -- he's extremely handsome and this is a killer look!!!

Blogger anthony said ... (3:53 PM) :

The jacket fits beautifully. I have to get used to the wide trousers. That hat is pretty slick and his eyebrows, well, full marks for that.

Blogger Jo said ... (10:18 PM) :

I would be just that girl. I love suits on girls.

Blogger Tiffany's Small World said ... (12:01 AM) :

I agree!I don't think it will look good on me but the suit is gorgeous.

Blogger thwany said ... (12:13 AM) :

handsome guy

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:38 AM) :

nice jacket and hat, but it's as if he got the pants from a suit that's 3 sizes bigger than the jacket. are we going back to baggie pants now???

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:21 AM) :

Like Felicity, I disagree with those low-crotch baggy pants. From the waist down it looks more like a pyjama than an actual suit. Too much fabric. Nice pattern, though.

Blogger davidikus said ... (5:55 AM) :

I am really tempted to think that the teesh actually makes the suit! The hat is barely visible.

Anonymous xssat said ... (8:47 AM) :

Like a lot of the comments above. I'd have to totally agree as well. This look would be fabulous of a girl, it would dead sexy.

Anonymous Steezy Please said ... (10:08 AM) :

I want that tarten suit for me. but maybe the trousers should be a little less baggy, he would look a lot better if they tappered in at the ankle..

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:57 PM) :

I'm going to go against the grain - it's too baggy, too big and it's wearing him. Horrible big turn-ups and sleeves look too long. Same goes for the hat.

Blogger Zbarsky said ... (4:28 AM) :

yes!! totally agree with the androgeny comment! so right on!

Blogger Eilish said ... (8:45 AM) :

haha.. super cute. love this outfit, absolutely amazing (:

Anonymous men's t-shirts said ... (11:44 AM) :

I really like the fabric that this suit is made of

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:25 AM) :

god i love this outfit. the suit s great

Anonymous luke said ... (6:07 AM) :

Love the glasses... they look awesome.

Blogger bbbrad said ... (6:34 PM) :

I love that the "slouch" of this look is everywhere except his perfectly fitting shoulders. Without that, it would look like he is wearing his dad's old suit.

Anonymous Ricardo Heranndez said ... (6:50 PM) :

Such an inspiration for classic menswear!

The suits is from "John Lawrence Sullivan", which is the best tailor making collection brand in Japan as perfect as established major brands do. If you don't know the
brand, you had better check it.

Anonymous Alejandro said ... (3:25 AM) :

This is perfect, such a statement! baggy silouhettes are really flattering when done right! Check Corneliani and Van Asche's SS11...Masters!

Blogger Rene Braun said ... (7:12 AM) :

I love this look! I love his short jacket!

Anonymous Stella Mayfair said ... (8:36 AM) :

amazing! his whole look reminds me of the painter foujita's style in the 1920s.

Anonymous Megan said ... (2:25 PM) :

The only way I see this outfit looking right on a girl would be if she didn't have many curves. This suit would provide the curve to the girl right where she needed them to be which would be amazing.

Anonymous Rachel said ... (5:25 PM) :

This is wonderful. The loose fit wouldn't have worked in a solid color, and the hat looks part gumshoe, part "Make 'Em Laugh." And those glasses! To me, though, what makes this so great is the expression on his face: "It's quite nice that you like my outfit, but I wouldn't mind very much if you didn't."

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:29 PM) :

needs to see a tailor.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:16 PM) :

Sharp slouch, love him.
