Well that peacoat/hat pairing is simply brilliant.

Anonymous alabdin said ... (5:03 PM) :

Absolutely love the plaid coat and the bag! His specs, and the fur hat complement his look dramatically.

I give it five stars!

Blogger Angela said ... (5:03 PM) :

Wow! What a beautiful pic. Love the hat and the Hunter boots. Just hope he's wearing some thick socks with them!!

Anonymous le lapin amoureux said ... (5:05 PM) :

like how his check jacket goes with the red brick wall, hot with the warm tone of the doorway, and his glasses with the panes of the window. looks not cold, but very cool.

Blogger Mai said ... (5:06 PM) :

I've been wearing my furry hat all winter! Glad to see parallel evolution in NYC. Love the idea of NW trapper (hat/flannel) and NE gentleman (wellies)- so good.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:06 PM) :

Beautiful! :D

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:08 PM) :

I know that this is in NY but it looks so quintessentially Canadian, the plaid and the fur hat; there is nothing better for a cold winter day.

Blogger j4ckb1ng said ... (5:09 PM) :

Love this photo. Style and flair in the aftermath of a snowstorm. The big fur hat makes me think of the "Seinfeld" episode where George had a similar hat.

Blogger esther said ... (5:09 PM) :

i'll take the bag and the boots please.

Anonymous RodgerJones said ... (5:10 PM) :

Love the small details on the coat.
Collar, Buttons, Wrist.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:11 PM) :

AWESOME.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:12 PM) :

hunter boots = love.

Blogger Zero said ... (5:15 PM) :

seems like The Sartorialist got obsessed with plaid for winter (:

Blogger Ladybird said ... (5:16 PM) :

Cool! Really loved that bag!

Blogger samie said ... (5:16 PM) :

Is it buffalo plaid day? :)

Blogger plate snapper said ... (5:18 PM) :

there's snow everywhere - but this fine fellow didn't leave his style at home all the same.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:19 PM) :

How appropriate! Love this! AWESOME bag! Filson?

Anonymous Kyle said ... (5:21 PM) :

so warm and comforting. great example of fashion slash function.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:23 PM) :

Why is everyone wearing red plaid?

Love his bag and his rainboots. Especially digging his hat.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:24 PM) :

soviet chic! nice!

Blogger Unknown said ... (5:27 PM) :

Absolutely!

Blogger joann tucker said ... (5:27 PM) :

lovin the poise and the big hat!

Anonymous Miss Jane said ... (5:31 PM) :

Mr Sart. He looks likes he's about to go hunting. Where's his rifle? And I love the sign on the door...He skin! But it's the glasses that make this look. Classic. xxx

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:33 PM) :

does the door behind him say "heskin"?

Blogger Emma said ... (5:33 PM) :

Is it me or your blog is getting better and better? Although the concept of street style photography could easily become boring, you manage to renew it perpetually. The "check" series is great!
Loving the chapka and the bag, and those boots are both practical and fun, which is a great recipe in fashion methinks.

Blogger Ben Orooji said ... (5:36 PM) :

Not sure I could pull off that hat - but I love it! Very nice picture :)

Blogger Paul Baxendale said ... (5:37 PM) :

THAT'S more like it!

Blogger Unknown said ... (5:37 PM) :

scott?! please enlighten me about what you liked in this photo?

Blogger brightlightsbigcity said ... (5:37 PM) :

Braving the cold and looking awesome! I commend you, sir. It's so cold in NY right now! I love the combination of his hat and coat and the wonderful bag. (man-purse?)

Blogger the style crusader said ... (5:41 PM) :

that is amazing!! crazy that there is so much snow over there. i love his his plaid peacoat, those hunters, and that hat!! he looks like a modern urban little eskimo. xx

Blogger maggie_hogan said ... (5:41 PM) :

he looks so prepared to take to these streets, in his clothes and his attitude. new york is not for the faint of heart in these days!!!!

Blogger Docta Slick said ... (5:42 PM) :

Work boo!

Blogger Unknown said ... (5:43 PM) :

Now this I love! What a great and useful winter look, and this time I love the plaid. Great bag too. All in all, very well put together. The Wellies give a polished look and will get him a lot further down the street then combat boots. I've been wearing hiking boots all week, and eventually my feet still become damp. The weather is wicked right now. He is bold and "fearless" to coin a phrase from a few years ago.

Blogger Unknown said ... (5:46 PM) :

I love it <3

Blogger Nicole said ... (5:47 PM) :

McQueen will be missed.

Blogger TheShoeGirl said ... (5:59 PM) :

HAHA! I saw that guy today!

Blogger notanymore said ... (6:00 PM) :

Wow, it's almost like the snow itself is part of the style. Once again, excellent photographic decisions.

Blogger Luuworld said ... (6:03 PM) :

I was walking around the city the other day and saw a great number of New Yorkers wearing those boots actually. Every single person wearing it pulled it off very nicely just like the gentlemen pictured!

Blogger Signed, Always Altered said ... (6:18 PM) :

It's almost as this is purposeful art direction. The modeling standing in clean, tailored and perfectly proportioned garments as the dingy heeping snow piles calf high. The pillowy exaggerated hat resting atop his structured frames is a look that menswear designers should take note from. One of my favorite photos you've taken. BRAVO

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:24 PM) :

Love a man that is not afraid to carry a bag. In Australia we have the unfortunate misconception that is it only something for gay men - so backward.
Also LOVE the hat

I have always wanted one of those fur hats. They also look great with a sleek cashmere coat in navy blue and LL Bean Maine Boots (only the tall ones though)

Blogger luckybastard said ... (7:04 PM) :

if i'm not mistaken, that's a limited edition bag billykirk did for someone. dammit, wish i could remember who...

Blogger Perfection Begins said ... (7:07 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:14 PM) :

i love it, haha hunter boot, i have the bright tory burchc orange ones but man that model certainly works the black go go go... But this picture is pure magical bravo!!

Blogger Unknown said ... (7:42 PM) :

the bag is a billykirk spin-off label called the brothers bray. sells at urbanoutfitters for like, 90 bucks. inside is bright orange.

Anonymous JennEva said ... (8:12 PM) :

Lovely photo indeed. And great comments today! "soviet chic", and @megan I think we LOVE him. There's a true cutie hiding under this coziness. Thank you for bringing a little of the NYC blizzard to us expats here in europe :)

Blogger The Red Velvet Shoe said ... (8:19 PM) :

Beautiful bag.

Blogger Unknown said ... (8:25 PM) :

The pea coat can do no wrong; nor can a touch of fur.

Blogger Laura Matthews said ... (8:47 PM) :

Is the bag Colonel Littleton???

Blogger keri said ... (8:57 PM) :

Never has practical cold-weather wear looked so good! Now if only he could spread this around to those who think winter = sloppy.

Blogger pauline said ... (9:16 PM) :

The bag looks rather full. I have that same bag and I can't even fill it halfway. And I'm a girl!

Blogger kayang said ... (11:45 PM) :

Haha, I read a comment up there about this looking very Canadian and I'd have to agree. I love the look!
Wow, that is quite a bit of snow. I live in Toronto, and we have not had nearly as much snow in total for the entire winter season so far!

Blogger kasha said ... (1:11 AM) :

Having grown in communist Eastern Europe I wouldn't be caught dead wearing a soviet fur hat.

Blogger Unknown said ... (1:29 AM) :

This is how we dress here too in the wilds of northern Alberta, but for the fact the red coat is generally thicker, to accommodate layers and layers of goose down, has bigger pockets (for shotgun shells) and the hat is rattier, as befits something that started life as a muskrat. The glasses are the same too, although in our case we've been wearing the same pair since 1972.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:04 AM) :

I love plaid and peacoats but have never seen a plaid peacoat until now. Fantastic. To the poster who asked why everyone is wearing red plaid, there is no more warming look for winter!

Blogger Unknown said ... (2:51 AM) :

Oh I just love when men these coats and they make them look so...ITALIAN...no seriously this coat actually reminded me of an Italian bloke...perhaps it's your photography and all the men with their "perfect fit" coats...×D

You're always an inspiration...

I have the same bag from UO! And this isn't a Canadian look, more Russian with the hat!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:49 PM) :

Blogger E O Hatterpol said ... (1:07 AM) :

One trick to make those rubber Hunters a bit warmer in the winter is to pony up some cash for "welly warmers." They act like a sleeve that you tuck your socks and pants into. Then you slip these liners into the Hunters and now you've got some great water-resistant boots that don't instantly let the cold in... and they are tall enough to leave a one-inch lip that you can fold over the top of the boot and still have a Hunter logo in the same exact place. Available in all colours the Hunters come in so you can match up or pick a complimentary liner colour.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:36 AM) :

This is uncanny:

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:59 AM) :

The idea that a brand of wellington boot is an "iconic" product is laughable. These sort of things are supposed to live in your "boot room" (ie you live in the country or at least have a house there) and not fit anyone quite right, they should not cost £60 and have a label on the front.

Blogger Snark said ... (7:56 AM) :

I think I'm right in saying that's a Brothers Bray bag made for Urban Outfitters. Tricky to get hold of one in the UK.

Blogger Graham Hutson said ... (11:11 AM) :

Made me smile - all fuzzy wuzzy and chic but trying to look tough!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:21 PM) :

There are some people on these pages who have an innate sense of style dictated only by their own imagination and intuition, and not by any fads or trends. Those are the people I love to see here.

Then, there are a lot of folks who put something together that while interesting to look at, feels very contrived and of-the-moment, meaning it won't last into the next moment. This fellow falls into that camp, as does the guy in the next photo...as do I far too often.

Sometimes you can try too hard.

Blogger Alex Lai said ... (11:43 PM) :

Anonymous Joanna Roman said ... (5:33 AM) :

Very stylish young man! His look is great - just great!

Anonymous northernspy said ... (1:43 PM) :

gee, his style is so original. yes, the coat is great. yes, the bag is great too. i just don't get this season's "urban-hunter" look. of course this outfit cost hundreds and that coat will never see a drop of quail blood - i find the irony exhausting... soviet-chic!? good grief. he had better be on his way to purchase a best-made axe! you know it's an essential in brooklyn
