Comments on "On the Street....37th St., NYC"
Well that peacoat/hat pairing is simply brilliant.
http://www.unabashedlyprep.com
Absolutely love the plaid coat and the bag! His specs, and the fur hat complement his look dramatically.
I give it five stars!
Wow! What a beautiful pic. Love the hat and the Hunter boots. Just hope he's wearing some thick socks with them!!
like how his check jacket goes with the red brick wall, hot with the warm tone of the doorway, and his glasses with the panes of the window. looks not cold, but very cool.
I've been wearing my furry hat all winter! Glad to see parallel evolution in NYC. Love the idea of NW trapper (hat/flannel) and NE gentleman (wellies)- so good.
Beautiful! :D
I know that this is in NY but it looks so quintessentially Canadian, the plaid and the fur hat; there is nothing better for a cold winter day.
Love this photo. Style and flair in the aftermath of a snowstorm. The big fur hat makes me think of the "Seinfeld" episode where George had a similar hat.
i'll take the bag and the boots please.
Love the small details on the coat.
Collar, Buttons, Wrist.
AWESOME.
hunter boots = love.
seems like The Sartorialist got obsessed with plaid for winter (:
Cool! Really loved that bag!
Is it buffalo plaid day? :)
there's snow everywhere - but this fine fellow didn't leave his style at home all the same.
How appropriate! Love this! AWESOME bag! Filson?

so warm and comforting. great example of fashion slash function.
Why is everyone wearing red plaid?
Love his bag and his rainboots. Especially digging his hat.
soviet chic! nice!
Absolutely!
lovin the poise and the big hat!
Mr Sart. He looks likes he's about to go hunting. Where's his rifle? And I love the sign on the door...He skin! But it's the glasses that make this look. Classic. xxx
does the door behind him say "heskin"?
Is it me or your blog is getting better and better? Although the concept of street style photography could easily become boring, you manage to renew it perpetually. The "check" series is great!
Loving the chapka and the bag, and those boots are both practical and fun, which is a great recipe in fashion methinks.
Not sure I could pull off that hat - but I love it! Very nice picture :)
THAT'S more like it!
scott?! please enlighten me about what you liked in this photo?
Braving the cold and looking awesome! I commend you, sir. It's so cold in NY right now! I love the combination of his hat and coat and the wonderful bag. (man-purse?)
that is amazing!! crazy that there is so much snow over there. i love his his plaid peacoat, those hunters, and that hat!! he looks like a modern urban little eskimo. xx
he looks so prepared to take to these streets, in his clothes and his attitude. new york is not for the faint of heart in these days!!!!
Work boo!
Now this I love! What a great and useful winter look, and this time I love the plaid. Great bag too. All in all, very well put together. The Wellies give a polished look and will get him a lot further down the street then combat boots. I've been wearing hiking boots all week, and eventually my feet still become damp. The weather is wicked right now. He is bold and "fearless" to coin a phrase from a few years ago.
I love it <3
I want that hat!!!!!! Love that bag.

You have to love the boots (and the bag too), don't you?
http://davidikus.blogspot.com
confidence!
Bit of a red plaid theme.
McQueen will be missed.
HAHA! I saw that guy today!
Wow, it's almost like the snow itself is part of the style. Once again, excellent photographic decisions.
love the jacket, glasses and the hat. what a great combination! effortlessly cool.
That works big time, even (or especially) the glasses.
does anybody know what type of bag he's holding?
FAB!
What an intense stare! Can't decide if I love him or hate him.
I like the bag.
Love the bag!!!

perfection. http://tresfraisnajee.blogspot.com/
I was walking around the city the other day and saw a great number of New Yorkers wearing those boots actually. Every single person wearing it pulled it off very nicely just like the gentlemen pictured!
ForGentlemen.blogspot.com
It's almost as this is purposeful art direction. The modeling standing in clean, tailored and perfectly proportioned garments as the dingy heeping snow piles calf high. The pillowy exaggerated hat resting atop his structured frames is a look that menswear designers should take note from. One of my favorite photos you've taken. BRAVO
Love a man that is not afraid to carry a bag. In Australia we have the unfortunate misconception that is it only something for gay men - so backward.
Also LOVE the hat
www.jennykozlow.cpm.au
Are you sure this isn't in Russia?
Best Hat EVER!
Have a wonderful Valentine's Day!
Love those Hunter boots!
J'adore the hat...nuff said
i love that bag!

I have always wanted one of those fur hats. They also look great with a sleek cashmere coat in navy blue and LL Bean Maine Boots (only the tall ones though)
if i'm not mistaken, that's a limited edition bag billykirk did for someone. dammit, wish i could remember who...
fabulous!
i love it, haha hunter boot, i have the bright tory burchc orange ones but man that model certainly works the black go go go... But this picture is pure magical bravo!!
the bag is a billykirk spin-off label called the brothers bray. sells at urbanoutfitters for like, 90 bucks. inside is bright orange.
oh please! fur hat + those glasses + plaids coat + hunter boots = marry me!!
Russian winter style....
oh my lord this is me!! I've been reading this blog for years and I'm so flattered to be on here!
Thank you all for such nice comments! I was actually leaving the Cushnie et Ochs show in a rush after styling it backstage...thanks again everyone!
Lovely photo indeed. And great comments today! "soviet chic", and @megan I think we LOVE him. There's a true cutie hiding under this coziness. Thank you for bringing a little of the NYC blizzard to us expats here in europe :)
Beautiful bag.
The pea coat can do no wrong; nor can a touch of fur.
Is the bag Colonel Littleton???
Never has practical cold-weather wear looked so good! Now if only he could spread this around to those who think winter = sloppy.
The bag looks rather full. I have that same bag and I can't even fill it halfway. And I'm a girl!
I'm hunting wabbits!!!
hunters really are the best, go scotland!
love the boots and the hat. u wld never imagine someone pairing things like that together in an outfit.
anyone know who the coat is by?
I really like the plaid coat and the bag!
Let's grow up later
he needs gloves
3 strikes in a row! Plaid!
Haha, I read a comment up there about this looking very Canadian and I'd have to agree. I love the look!
Wow, that is quite a bit of snow. I live in Toronto, and we have not had nearly as much snow in total for the entire winter season so far!
Having grown in communist Eastern Europe I wouldn't be caught dead wearing a soviet fur hat.
This is how we dress here too in the wilds of northern Alberta, but for the fact the red coat is generally thicker, to accommodate layers and layers of goose down, has bigger pockets (for shotgun shells) and the hat is rattier, as befits something that started life as a muskrat. The glasses are the same too, although in our case we've been wearing the same pair since 1972.
I love plaid and peacoats but have never seen a plaid peacoat until now. Fantastic. To the poster who asked why everyone is wearing red plaid, there is no more warming look for winter!
Oh I just love when men these coats and they make them look so...ITALIAN...no seriously this coat actually reminded me of an Italian bloke...perhaps it's your photography and all the men with their "perfect fit" coats...×D
You're always an inspiration...
http://misanthropicpulp.blogspot.com/
best!
FABULOUS!!!
that coat is uniqlo, looks niceish, will last a season qualiy wise, but not very warm.
Th building reminds me of Sex and the City...
Such a great NY picture!
kiss
what no gloves?
Nice ! Perhaps a little too conventional.
What a stylish boy! Tha fur hat, the plaid coat, the bag...great!

good look.

omg
love the plaid coat and glasses <3
http://fashionismysoulmate.blogspot.com/
I wonder how long he'd been standing there waiting for you to pass by?
Hilarious!
I just say that ¡Viva el Tartan!
Love S
Ah, just a great shot; the clothes are nice too.
I like to think that the last week's plaid photos are a subtle McQueen tribute.. :)
i'm lovin' him!!!
Love Hunter boots, so british.
love the reality check of the garbage in the background :-)
Love the boots and the bag and the snow in the front. great picture! however I think that with a different hat he might look better. We don't need fur anymore.
well, another red plaided coat here !!!!
what's this? school uniform or fashion disaster ?
Love the hat. I have one just like it that I wore to work yesterday... it was so cold outside!
Wow, a guy wearing Hunter boots! :)
I want that bag!
Love the Hunters !
The bag, and the pose.
yes! YES! Give it to me! He's got so much going on here that I love... I still need to get me some Hunter boots... before the trend is over- I do believe their simplicity however could last forever... What does everyone else think?
am I allowed to read this succession of three pictures as a tribute to mcqueen?
I'm still looking for an adequate way to mourn. :(
Awesomeness
LOL... this is so the uniform here in NYC when it snows... Hunters, hunters and more hunters... love this picture. When I leave NYC I will always remember the city snow (dirty) and hunter boots going hand in hand :)
I have the same bag from UO! And this isn't a Canadian look, more Russian with the hat!
This image has an interesting symmetry, that is accentuated by the architecture in the background. Impressive!
If I could find that bag, I would die happy.
great cap!
Wonderful photo and composition. The snow, the wellies, the hat add so much to the photo and outfit.
This is such a good looking picture. Like it was taken in a studio.
Great winter look! I just wish Hunter made boots without those big obnoxious labels on the front.
AH MAZING I ALREADY COMMENTED BUT MY COMMENT HASNT SHOWED UP YET, UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!
so i already said i love this pic so simple but gorgeous, love the hunter boots!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i live in vancouver and this is how everyone is dressed for the olympics. seems very relevant at the moment
brilliant photo.
WOW, great picture! love EVERYTHING on him.
This is a new favourite.

I LOVE THIS PICTURE. BEAUTIFUL BOY.
Are these tartan coats an homage to Alexander McQueen('s 2006 highland collection?)
This made me smile nice & big. I would be delighted to run into him.
These NYC street photos make me so proud to be a New Yorker! I love the plaid. Lovely.
www.greeneggsandglam.blogspot.com
great shot! i love the covered feet. the clothes are a perfect fit for the trecherous winter!
Brilliant--someone please tell me WHERE one can get this bag . . .
Perhaps LaQuan Smith has it.
Check NY Times 2.13.10
Ruth LaFerla piece.
One trick to make those rubber Hunters a bit warmer in the winter is to pony up some cash for "welly warmers." They act like a sleeve that you tuck your socks and pants into. Then you slip these liners into the Hunters and now you've got some great water-resistant boots that don't instantly let the cold in... and they are tall enough to leave a one-inch lip that you can fold over the top of the boot and still have a Hunter logo in the same exact place. Available in all colours the Hunters come in so you can match up or pick a complimentary liner colour.
This is uncanny:

The idea that a brand of wellington boot is an "iconic" product is laughable. These sort of things are supposed to live in your "boot room" (ie you live in the country or at least have a house there) and not fit anyone quite right, they should not cost £60 and have a label on the front.
I think I'm right in saying that's a Brothers Bray bag made for Urban Outfitters. Tricky to get hold of one in the UK.
He should be up in the woods with an outfit like that, although the bears might want their hat back!
www.openzedoor.blogspot.com
love!!
love the glassaes
Made me smile - all fuzzy wuzzy and chic but trying to look tough!
There are some people on these pages who have an innate sense of style dictated only by their own imagination and intuition, and not by any fads or trends. Those are the people I love to see here.
Then, there are a lot of folks who put something together that while interesting to look at, feels very contrived and of-the-moment, meaning it won't last into the next moment. This fellow falls into that camp, as does the guy in the next photo...as do I far too often.
Sometimes you can try too hard.
love the boots!
Very stylish young man! His look is great - just great!
gee, his style is so original. yes, the coat is great. yes, the bag is great too. i just don't get this season's "urban-hunter" look. of course this outfit cost hundreds and that coat will never see a drop of quail blood - i find the irony exhausting... soviet-chic!? good grief. he had better be on his way to purchase a best-made axe! you know it's an essential in brooklyn
What a amazing picture
Love everything about this photo! xo!
love the hunter wellies!
Cut to me buying the bag AND coat.
To William, I just saw the bag at Urban Outfitters. It's a collab between UO and BillyKirk.
Oh, I just adore everything this gent has going on, here.
It's all so purposeful and aligned, but snappy!
Love, love!
This picture says a lot! I like the attitude and mix of clothes.
So it seems plaid red lumberjack-style jackets are in trend? This guy turned it up a notch then.
Every piece is great, which is the showpiece here?!
Great! Great! Great!
you can tell this guy has a sense of humour, he looks so good!
hat and glasses = genius
