she looks very much like a new york girl in this shot. comfy but chic and running about 10 minutes late to her next appointment. :)

the starbucks coffee cup and her headband and ever so slightly mussed up hair are the perfect accessories!

Natural and beauty! love the outfit, so casual and cool!

I'm so exited to see you in BCN in a few days ;)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:49 AM) :

Her headband reminds me of the days when I worked at the Paramount Hotel after it first opened. Donna Karan designed the uniforms and we had the same headbands--people wanted to buy them off of us!

As for the loafers--how refreshing. Am I the only one who things that the monster heels are beginning to look a little...silly?

Blogger Lions, Tigers and Fashion OH MY! said ... (10:49 AM) :

I absolutely love this look, so inspiring!

Chocolate brown and black. Love it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:04 AM) :

Forget the kitten heels and clogs for spring. it will be the season for loafers. It's the best purchase to update the winter looks and carry them through spring. Church's has the best classic versions!

Blogger juju ariel said ... (11:15 AM) :

starbucks theme in NYC these days... but it's true, most people look very cozy with their hands wrapped around a warm coffee...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:32 PM) :

Loafers are always great as far as I am concerned, but what really surprised me was to see one of my own(i.e. a guy's) shirt looking so cool on this young woman. A great look born out of lateral thinking / styling. Its such examples of creativity that make this blog so wonderful.

Blogger Joy Mars said ... (12:45 PM) :

Loafers! I love loafers!

The bag makes the whole outfit look high-end.

The black band on her head echos the black mini-skirt below. Cool.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:57 PM) :

She would look cute in a burlap bag, but I do like the headband and the olive/black combo.
The loafers look like they want to be comfortable, as in no heels, but I feel blisters just looking at them.
A message to this adorable thing from my physical therapist: turn your knees out! It will save your back in 20+ years.

Anonymous Holly said ... (1:08 PM) :

Yea loafers and short skirt...It takes me back to my highschool days!

Blogger kahartland said ... (1:19 PM) :

wow shes so pretty! a simple outfit, but it makes an impact.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:22 PM) :

Such a great picture.
I love her shoes!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:23 PM) :

she looks cold. (though chic)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:36 PM) :

I think her bag is the same one Chloe Sevigny was wearing for a while, it's the FRANK bag by BOYY

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:36 PM) :

The epitome of vulnerability.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:38 PM) :

Good bye monster heels, glad to see you go! Welcome flats, ballerinas and loafers, have missed you badly!

Blogger Markmont said ... (3:39 PM) :

Blogger dy of ghost said ... (5:48 PM) :

this is really cute, i like the headband and loafers. :)

Anonymous Jason Seaward said ... (6:11 PM) :

The loafers are awesome, I love when a woman can take something so typically masculine and make it look so feminine.
I love her play on contrast between the oversized shirt and the mini skirt, along with the choice of colors.
The choice of nail polish and wrist accessories is the key to this outfit though, without those pops of color this would have been rather drab.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:12 PM) :

Shoe lovers of the world, it looks like the flat is back. A whole generation has missed out on the beauty of the flat. Welcome back, there is room for all types of shoes (at least in my wardrobe).

Blogger Bijou's Style said ... (6:17 PM) :

cute look!

Anonymous THIS MAKES NO SENSE said ... (6:31 PM) :

really though, if she weren't gorgeous (as she truly is), this outfit would look completely hideous on anyone else, not that it is that great anyways...

...and effortlessness aside, not impressed.

Blogger Unknown said ... (6:39 PM) :

Anonymous Tory - Hip Paris said ... (6:41 PM) :

Loafers don't like that cute on me... why?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:50 PM) :

Am I the only one who didn't like this style? The shoes are awful, too masculine, the headband is so 90'ies and the skirt does not go with the shirt at all.

Blogger Some Like it said ... (6:56 PM) :

Adorable and chic!

Blogger Natalie said ... (7:05 PM) :

here here on the loafers!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:05 PM) :

Loved everything until I got to the shoes. The choice of flats rather than heels was great, but I just don't like the loafers. And yes, that does appear to be Chanel's Jade polish. Love the little pop of color it adds to the outfit!

Blogger Nick Leonard said ... (7:08 PM) :

Oh, my she is a doll.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:14 PM) :

First instinct: walk of shame. But minus the same since she managed to pull together such a cute outfit by throwing on a mens shirt over the dress, and borrow loafers, heels stashed in the bag for the walk home. :)

Anonymous sanmiguelense said ... (7:24 PM) :

I think this blog will give all shoemakers something to consider, i.e. the backlash against ridiculous heels. Women who have to walk (to and from work, at work etc.) quickly realize how crippling insanely high heels are. They don't even work on the catwalk...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:33 PM) :

Sooo chic...

true style with flat shoes, how refreshing.

Blogger Carrie said ... (9:53 PM) :

AH! Its Laurel Pantin of Teen Vogue! This lady is consistently gorgeous, stunning, and stylish. Nice choice of subject, Scott!

Blogger CardiGirlie said ... (10:09 PM) :

isn't it too cold to be bare leg in NYC these days?

Blogger Marie-Luise said ... (10:45 PM) :

These are the exact shoes worn by millions of japanese school girls daily. Didn't think anyone else could make them look as cute!

Anonymous meinda said ... (11:18 PM) :

She looks chic and ready to meet the day. The mussed hair, simple skirt, and the loafers (love 'em), all present a subtle yet "look at me" look.

Blogger quynansea said ... (1:21 AM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:11 AM) :

following her dark eyes down to her dark shoes -- beautiful composition!

Blogger Nai said ... (2:29 AM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:18 AM) :

love the hair style and the shoes. Basic classic but elegant look.

Blogger noname said ... (3:36 AM) :

loverly! i like this

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:06 AM) :

Such a young New Yorker. Just perfect! Loved her last look on the blog, as well. She clearly has a 'look' going for herself, short skirt, slouchy top, bright hair.

Blogger Stjarna said ... (5:25 AM) :

Blogger Anna said ... (5:39 AM) :

Oh a men's L O A F E R is brilliant always and we all love black leather with heavy zippers but,

I love her nails and her shoes!

Blogger CWH said ... (6:13 AM) :

i love the new trend women in mens shoes

Blogger Poppy Scott said ... (6:43 AM) :

She is amazing, In each photograph I see of her she still has that effortless chic. I love the bracelets on her hand. And the way that she can pull of such a simple style/outfit and still look stunning.

She looks like she got out of bed and slung on her boyfriends shirt over the skirt from last night. Combined with loafers + Headband + daisy bracelet and coffee she is the embodiment of natural beauty. Without tons of makeup and couture to weigh her down.

Light and easy.

Anonymous Lucy said ... (7:13 AM) :

I love this outfit! she's so cute!!!

Blogger BlogCoder said ... (7:24 AM) :

The loafers!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:08 AM) :

Plenty of people wear black and brown together, but it just doesn't look right to me. Nevertheless, Sart captured a great facial expression.

Anonymous Garth said ... (10:35 AM) :

She's adorable. I love this shot. The hair, the headband, the turning in of the feet. She carries herself with innocence. Great pic

Blogger Alex Mendoza said ... (11:27 AM) :

For some reason she/he features remind me of Fiona Apple...this girl is gorgeous

Blogger FORMENTERA ♥ AGUAMARINA said ... (11:33 AM) :

Nice shoes!

Blogger Unknown said ... (11:59 AM) :

Love how the texture & tone of black is matched between the headband and the skirt...... Miss Beautiful looks as if she is in the middle of filming a movie - how dynamite !!!!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:00 PM) :

I like the nails, and she makes loafers look cool. Other than that this is a pretty bland Saturday outfit.

Blogger Unknown said ... (12:08 PM) :

She's cute but really no more extraordinary than the hundreds of twenty-something fashion girls I see in the West Village every day! Thumbs up on the return of fashionable flats—I've never embraced those clunky hoof-like platforms.

Anonymous OLIVE said ... (2:15 PM) :

FINALLY! Agreeing that a look is more than that it's an attitude and tired or not the true essence of the spirit carries through! Love the nail polish as well. I truly, truly, appreciate the confidence and appreciation of non "posed", carefree, this is who I am, I DONT need a pile of makeup to be feminine and I'll have my coffee to go too!

Anonymous Bronte said ... (2:34 PM) :

This picture shows what a difference hair makes. If she'd left it down, with such a loose top and masculine shoes, the outfit would risk looking a little sloppy/undone. But pulled way up and out of her delicate face, no distractions, she looks SO wonderfully fresh! Great shot!

Blogger Unknown said ... (2:57 PM) :

the color of her shirt is fabulous. nice proportions, as well.

Blogger Rosalind said ... (3:09 PM) :

Bare legs and loafers? Brilliant! I love the way that masculine shoes can totally change the feel of an outfit- it can take a short skirt from being too girly and instead make it look chic. Another favourite of mine at the moment are brogues.
This is a really great shot, very un-self concious and relaxed.
I think I read somewhere that you use a canon 5D? I have one, and they're so amazing to work with! The clarity and detail is stunning.

Blogger Unknown said ... (4:27 PM) :

hmmm...this one just doesn't do it for me. oh well.

Blogger Liz S said ... (4:28 PM) :

I'm not sure it's coffee--the straw tells me it's a cold drink--nevertheless, that photo is spot on with the background co-ordinating with the girl's colours to make a great photo.
I also love the way her blue eyes match her nailpolish to add that touch of colour.

Blogger chancesbreathe said ... (4:52 PM) :

I don't see the big deal about this girl. She looks awful. The only cool part of her outfit is perhaps her bag.

Blogger Brigadeiro said ... (6:23 PM) :

She looks so cute & the bag!

Blogger ADM said ... (6:29 PM) :

natural? fresh? yeah nice the beggy shirt.. if you go to a random supermarket in milan, sure you'll find many like this outfit

Blogger Sophisticated Misfit said ... (6:58 PM) :

...suddenly, general sway of opinion leans in favor of loafers and everyone is like: "Whoaaa... yeah, I've never really embraced high heels!"

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:28 PM) :

I'm stunned! Why do I never meet girls like this?
I like the outfit, it's simple, but different :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:45 PM) :

love the shirt! i <3 boxy shirts

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:50 PM) :

Who makes those loafers? Nice.

Blogger Gon said ... (8:22 PM) :

Blogger My Favourite Things said ... (1:32 AM) :

Beautiful loafers and cute headband. The look is very simple and thrown-together at the last miute, in a good way

Blogger danestralia said ... (1:34 AM) :

The bag may be by Boyy, but it just may as well be an old H&M bag. They did one in that style like 4 years ago. I have one in that color but with white needlework, they did with black too.

But its hard to tell which one it is based on the picture, because it doesn't show too much of the bag.

Blogger jazzy cat said ... (1:38 AM) :

check out the nail polish too:)

Blogger Jack Daniel said ... (4:24 AM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:05 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:25 PM) :

nice bag and shoes! love it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:08 PM) :

Love the comfy-chic retro look... this is the style I was aiming for in much of college & grad school, but not sure I ever got there. :) I do wish women would drop the hunched-over, pigeon-toed posture, though--why diminish yourself? It's neither cute nor cool.

Blogger Hunter said ... (3:46 PM) :

absolutely adorable! i actually think it looks more LA style than NY....

Blogger MzElena23 said ... (6:00 PM) :

She reminds me of Jessica Alba, but cooler. ;)

Blogger belladonna said ... (8:47 AM) :

she is realy beautifull.
and she looks realy great in clothes.
i can tell that she is the type of friend that you invite over after school and when she tries on all of your clothes you get super jeasous because she just looks THAT much better in all of them than you do.

i love her shirt.

Blogger Aaron said ... (2:29 AM) :
