Anonymous James said ... (8:25 AM) :

Perfect.

Anonymous James said ... (8:28 AM) :

Or rather, perfection.

Anonymous Emilie said ... (8:31 AM) :

I love the muted palette coupled with the strong stripe.

Blogger whyioughtta said ... (8:31 AM) :

WOW. On every level.

Blogger Guernican said ... (8:32 AM) :

Is it acceptable for the tie to be hanging that low if you're going for the soft linen-y deconstructed look?

Great 'tache...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:39 AM) :

I am charmed with Simon's style, the air that is given smoking cigars. The tie of stripes

Anonymous principe di montenevoso said ... (8:45 AM) :

molto casual-elegante!! mi piace parecchio!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:48 AM) :

How self assured does a man have to be before he can wear the narrow end of his tie longer than the wide end?

Blogger James Jean said ... (8:52 AM) :

Nice Scott! You got a guy in a chino suit and knit tie as well? I'll post mine in 48 hours to keep it on an even keel. Love the scenery too. Seems as if the day was beginning to end very shortly.

Blogger Stratos Bacalis said ... (8:53 AM) :

The tie cheapens the outfit - plus linen combined with this type of knit, looks odd. On a woollen winter suit it would look better, but still knit ties are a no-no. We live in 2009 after all.

Blogger bpiersawl said ... (8:55 AM) :

mostly just a very nice, almost startlingly eye-catching photo ... no mere snapshot here ... I like the way you're filling the frame more with the image, here and with the lady's picture just below ... and there's also a close-in, surrealistic quality in your deep close-up that's at once scary and thrilling... are you using a new camera, too?? Of course the guy's macho sexy chic, but, firstly, I was taken aback by the knit tie in summer worn together with a linen suit; also I think he needs a third color ... His haircut, however, is just fantastic!!

Blogger J. Rouge said ... (8:56 AM) :

Your work is amazing. It inspires me.
And shows that everyone has a peculiarity.

Anonymous eHaberdasher said ... (8:58 AM) :

Everything but the length of the tie looks fantastic. Linen is a great way to beat the Summer heat with style!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:15 AM) :

That's a really great picture and a cool man! The only thing that I kind of dislike is the shadow (your maybe?) that hits his legs...

Blogger indigo warrior said ... (9:15 AM) :

A knitted tie! Extra points Mr Sartorialist!

Blogger Simone Rene said ... (9:17 AM) :

Blogger John Rowbie said ... (9:31 AM) :

I met Simone on my last visit to Florence. He is a wonderful character and always beautifully dressed. I think his shop is called 'Andrews Ties' and is always full of beautifully crafted Italina clothes. When I mentioned to him that I'd seen him photographed, he was quite bashful. He is very welcoming and I'd encourage all fans of this blog who enjoy the the Italian cut and cloth to visit his shop. If you visit on the weekend you may also be served by his brother, a larger than life Lawyer, who is also great value.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:36 AM) :

cool tie, i've never seen anyone in knit tie...nice.

Blogger May Kasahara said ... (9:55 AM) :

Hey Scott,

while in firenze, would it be possible to feature Gianni Seminara of Sartoria Seminara on your site? I hear he is a great tailor.

Love your blog btw.

I just love it.........and love the Sartorealist of course

I keep some photos in my computer ( if u don't mind Mr Scott ) it inspires me a lot.

Love the colors working in this photo. This is a beautiful time of day, one of my favorites and that tie rocks. I want to meet Simone for coffee and conversation.

Blogger loveroffashion said ... (10:43 AM) :

so incredibly dapper!

Blogger Barbara said ... (10:52 AM) :

looks like something out of a magazine.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:01 AM) :

Oh, these men's clothes rules you all cite, they are so boring! Do you go around issuing infringements and are you as stylish as this man? He looks fantastic. His tie is tied as casually as a scarf, perfect with a crumple-pending linen suit on a hot day. The shirt and the suit are a perfect warm-cool mix and the red stripe of the tie is just enough punch. Bravo. Love it. Get thee all to his shop.

Blogger The Khaki Crusader said ... (11:08 AM) :

Mythical

Blogger julie said ... (11:54 AM) :

its more the capture of a mood than clothing, excellent!

Blogger GodfreyKate said ... (12:14 PM) :

Very male, very sexy. I like the vunerability of the missing cuff button. You planned that into the shot, right?

Blogger itchy said ... (12:16 PM) :

the colors are amazing

Blogger sd said ... (12:22 PM) :

i love that tie!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:27 PM) :

Classy and sexy. What a great shot.

Blogger John Rowbie said ... (12:30 PM) :

Sorry, my aplogies, Simone's shop is called 'Tie your Tie' and not 'Andrews Ties' per my previous email. Aplogies Simone if you are reading this.

Blogger Unknown said ... (12:31 PM) :

That is completely perfect.

I am charmed with Scott this photo, this one is the style that I would like to see in the blog.
I am charmed with Simon's tie and well that it(he,she) combines with the suit. What looks like to me more cool is the cigar.

How cool and original is that tie?!

Anonymous jamesxalife said ... (11:42 PM) :

nooooooooooooooooo.... i had a similar tie to this that was givenchy and i LOST it arghghhhh
i absloutely adore all knits

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:42 PM) :

really love the linen and the moustache!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:13 AM) :

My dad and I wore square-end knit ties long before it was cool.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:41 AM) :

I like the overall elegant look of the gentleman here, but I'm really not feeling the love for his tie... A little "sprezzatura" is one thing, but wearing the thin end of the tie longer than the wide end takes it a bit too far IMHO.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:57 AM) :

That's it. khaki suit, my favorite. ineida

Blogger Maliha said ... (4:57 AM) :

I love the relaxed formalish look he's got going on with that tie.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:22 AM) :

high waist, easy fit, love it

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:41 AM) :

Classy looking --

Blogger Barbara said ... (6:42 AM) :

OOOH.....The rumpled wheaty suit, with the perfect amount of yellow in it, together with the blue striped shirt and the oxblood striped knitted tie........this is just too satisfying for words. Perfect and perfectly Italian. I'm an Italophile.....

Blogger Gwen said ... (8:01 AM) :

Warm tones at sunset, great photo!

Blogger The Clever Pup said ... (9:07 AM) :

I love Simone but I prefer him with softer longer hair.

Beautiful.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:22 AM) :

This is one of my favourite images so far.. it's such a dark photo to me, despite the light and colour. Intense and beautiful. And that scowl and concentration are really quite sexy. Really great shot.

Blogger Zé Passarinho said ... (9:47 AM) :

some got it others no!!! ahhaahah

Blogger Unknown said ... (10:20 AM) :

WooW!
He seems to come out from a book of Dostoyevskji !! I would have called this picture something like "Lost in his deep thought"

Anonymous Sharilyn said ... (11:16 AM) :

Blogger joanna said ... (5:15 PM) :

what a beautiful image!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:52 PM) :

the colors in this photo mirror the light and color of Italian architecture. can't handle the tie? get a grip.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:59 PM) :

the tie. you object to the tie? let me tell you something . guys like this take risk, they go into fashion areas you sit and read about in GQ in the comfort of your living room, so that three years later you will have the courage to risk a knit tie. THE TIE! YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TIE!

Blogger Unknown said ... (2:24 AM) :

I'm curious to know if you ask people to pose a certain way? How do you get most of your shots?

I LOVE this photograph....

Anonymous Designer Clothing said ... (7:58 AM) :

Great snap

Blogger Olviya said ... (8:50 AM) :

i like the way linen it turning his body

Blogger Jazzbuff630 said ... (12:39 PM) :

My only issue is that the back part of the tie is too long.

I have an obsession with ties.

Love the suit, though.

Blogger Raven said ... (4:49 PM) :

Ooh, nice look, but what a distracting shadow! A darkened circle in that particular area suggests an accident other than that of lighting ...

Blogger Jewelt said ... (7:16 PM) :

You can obviously see beautiful tayloring in this suit. It falls perfectly along his silhouette.

Blogger Traci Giles said ... (11:57 PM) :

Oh, that light is amazing. Coupled with the blue blue sky! The gentleman's look is nice too :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:14 AM) :

Wow! That's how I look in my mind's eye....

Anonymous elisabetty said ... (11:57 PM) :

well, i could give a f... about the length of the tie. this man looks so amazing. and the photo is beautiful. if i was walking down to the beach and saw this... i think i would be dumb founded and stopped dead in my tracks. this is the stuff of which i dream.

Anonymous Face Critic said ... (1:45 PM) :

Beautiful mafiozo ^^

Anonymous MissPrivate said ... (1:56 PM) :

This suit has the kind of understated elegance that when done correctly is very striking. I love the look of a man in a suit, and this one is exceptionally tailored and, along with the cigar, conveys a sort of "man about town" image. I also love the knit tie. He actually reminds me of those " most interesting man in the world" commercials :)

Anonymous Doug said ... (4:44 PM) :

...it is called a working cuff, no-way this fella stepping out with a missing button. Killer picture! not feeling the shirt/tie mix but taking the pic to my tailor to rip that suit off! Work jacket vibe, love it!

Blogger Joy Mars said ... (8:59 PM) :

The shirt -- it's color and it's fine stripes -- is pure genius.

Bet he's having a suave kinda day.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:06 PM) :

where do you get such a fine linen suit?

Anonymous Emmalee said ... (1:49 PM) :

I have a tie like that in blue and white! It was from Target.com and only about $25. Love it. Sadly, it doesn't appear as though they're selling it anymore.

Anonymous Antonio Barros said ... (3:35 AM) :

Amazing picture!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:44 AM) :

this is beautiful! the light is magnificent and he looks like style personified

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:20 AM) :

this one makes me think of "on the road" by jack kerouac. while reading it, i imagined these types of colors, warm and sunny, and also that kind of mystery. what is he thinking about?
you're very talented, and i'm always admirative of your capacity to be here to catch the instant. the "it' as kerouac said..

Blogger defining amy said ... (12:24 PM) :

i looooove this.

Blogger Angeles Almuna said ... (11:14 AM) :

I love it!!!!!! he is definitely stylish!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:12 PM) :

needs to redo the tie - back part is too long. Otherwise, great outfit.

Blogger Yours Truly said ... (4:16 PM) :

great suit, great tie, great beard, great cigar....i want to be that guy

Blogger Clarity said ... (7:47 PM) :

Beautiful clothes, well captured.

Blogger William of Ockham said ... (6:09 PM) :

Great shot and light and good colour combination, but:

- back part of the tie is too long;

- that suit needs an ironing...

- wearing a jacket with undone cuff button is not a good idea. You can perfectly notice when a suit/jacket is tailor-made without that showing off detail.

Blogger B. Varughese said ... (6:12 AM) :

I like the high waisted pants w/suspenders with the blue stripe shirt. maybe the tie...

cigar is nice

could do without the jacket... too much beige ... but then again it seems to drape him nice

he looks more las vegas to me...

Blogger Stan said ... (12:42 PM) :

This guy projects cool in such a strong way I had to write about his style in my blog

http://poh-pursuitofhappyness.blogspot.com/

keep up the good work; I love reading your blog
