Love the skirt and the shoes,

His whole look is about self-expression. From the print to the booties.

Centre Street is actually one of my favorite places to do street photography -- so gritty and real and quintessentially New York.

His unkempt look and blissful ignorance of that fact that you're photographing him are great. A nice departure from your usual streetstyle shots.

there are so many different street styles in NYC, it must be a fashion photographer's paradise

just the other day, i had a conversation about how shocking Boy George's aesthetic was back when we were growing up... Now Boy George's aesthetic is a lot less shocking and we have this picture (and the man's lovely skirt) as evidence!

I actually LOVE the skirt and shoes!!!

Anonymous The Bohmerian said ... (4:06 PM) :

I love this native bohemian look. Yet I kind of wish the shoes were new and shiny which would of made the whole mix seem more deliberate.

something about this, from this angle, is strangely sexy. the details. even the schlumpy hoodie - it doesn't have a standard collar. the skirt has a hidden pocket and the boots have the side zip. much love.

Blogger Marcel Da Chump said ... (4:16 PM) :

Yohji Yamamoto grunge ( in a good way).

I want to meet this guy. I wish more men felt comfortable in sarongs. I am taken back to years spent in Indonesia where men knew how to make skirts look seriously tough and sexy.

He's got interesting style, and it's a great photo! It speaks a lot!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:27 AM) :

Great skirt! The jacket, hat, and boots look fab with it, but his confidence is his best accessory.

Anonymous E2 said ... (12:40 AM) :

This really speaks to me: the fabrics, the loose cut, the indian blanket print with the bold red, right down to the scuffed boots with matching socks. Moreover, he wears it so well, it almost becomes incidental that he is in a skirt.

Blogger Michelle said ... (12:52 AM) :

Love that pattern.

This is a genuinely interesting look that combines being avante garde, stylish wearable all in one . Fantastic.

Anonymous Lucy said ... (3:04 AM) :

When I think of men in skirts, usually Jean Paul Gaultier comes to my mind. This guy can pull it off, too. It looks very natural and grungy on him.

Anonymous Key said ... (8:34 AM) :

I love a man who can - and will - wear a skirt. His looks like it was made from a vintage Pendleton blanket.

Blogger Unknown said ... (10:38 AM) :

I do love a man in a skirt. There is something terrifically sexy about a guy with this kind of nonchalance.

These rare birds are truly unbound by fashion norms, almost unaware of social convention.

Definitely of the breed of strangers you see for a brief moment but whose image will linger in your head hours afterwards. The type of person we all love to imagine a scenario about.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:22 PM) :

Wow. Gorgeously cool. How is it a guy in a skirt looks a thousand times more masculine than any guy in skinny jeans I've seen yet?

Blogger Parent 2 said ... (11:16 AM) :

Men seriously need to wear more skirts. This is very cool.
