Such a simple outfit, but so awesome nonetheless. Doesn't hurt that the wearer is so pretty!

Blogger CDC said ... (8:59 AM) :

after all that fashion week stuff (which I do love), it's refreshing to see more varied looks that are on the streets right now and captured beautifully. i would be afraid to pair these things together, although separately i like all of them - the sweater, the belt, the skirt, the converse. i like her inventiveness and sweetness about it, a lovely interpretation on down to earth femininity.

Blogger Nadine2point0 said ... (9:01 AM) :

The mix is GREAT here....and she's got that cheeky thing happenin'.

Anonymous Vanessa @ Project Zen said ... (9:51 AM) :

I love Converse sneakers....they say a lot about the person: "simple style, down to earth, young at heart."

That seems like a good combo to me.

Blogger Una B. said ... (9:52 AM) :

Wow!I loove her skirt!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:53 AM) :

This girl has got to be either an Aussie or a Kiwi. That's the way we dress for Southern hemisphere spring, but then need the cardigan when surprised how cold spring can be in the Northern hemisphere! It's a bit hard for us to adapt when it never gets any colder than 10 degrees C (and that's in the middle of winter)?!

Blogger MFP said ... (9:55 AM) :

Blogger Maïa said ... (10:15 AM) :

Knowing that the book she is holding is an NRF publication (or so it seems) -- historically the most prestigious publisher for humanities and literature in France -- makes her outfit all the more interesting. Being myself a literature scholar, it's nice to see proof that brains comes in many styles!

Blogger Amy B. said ... (10:16 AM) :

I love how the shoes and skirt share a neutral theme. So much thought is put into beautiful outfits.

Wow Sart. You continue to surpass yourself. I believe history will see you as the superior of Sander. Your ability to transcend the myriad aspects of humanity that pass before your lens is unique amongst not just bloggers, but photographers, period! You are able to get the best from both the greats of style and fashion AND normal ordinary folk in whom you see the special, the different...keep up the good work, for the sake of FASHION!!! You are an inspiration in this troubled world in which we live in. BRAVISSIMO!!!

Great combination! Is this a friend of yours in Paris? I remember seeing her in a previous photo, and was captivated by her gaze and beautiful hair.

Blogger Unknown said ... (2:41 PM) :

This is such an American look- I don't remember the early nineties clearly enough to know whether this style was popular in France then, but I feel as if maybe it wasn't? Does it count as retro if the look is foreign?

Blogger Parul said ... (2:43 PM) :

A book is the perfect accessory!

Love how she looks simple but so interesting.. I think I like how accessible these individual pieces are.. they are not high fashion, aspiration-only pieces. One could actually do this without being a rich fashionista.

She looks comfortable, confident and stylish, all at once.

Kudos on capturing her.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:50 PM) :

Fantastic - she is wearing a cardigan / jumper inspired by the brilliant Danish TV Detective series 'The Killing' - it's been a sell out item for the Faroe Islands based knitters!

She can walk for miles and miles. Once people find out how much more comfortable these kinds of shoes are for walking, more can enjoy the fresh air and get somewhere.

Blogger thwany said ... (2:14 AM) :

she's gorgeous.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:17 AM) :

This look 'works' on soooo many levels. It is deceptively simple, but it proves that in fashion, like so many other things, God is in the details. This wasn't some coed simply throwing something together. The classic sneakers and the pink scrunched socks tie in nicely with the details of the skirt and the sweater. The looks speaks of innocence, yet sly sophistication; Paris in the spring, indeed!

Unlike some recent looks that I've called BS on because they were a sort of random 'let's-throw-a-bunch-of-elements-randomly-up-on-the-wall-and-call-it-fashion' (i.e., the 'Annie Hall from hell' look), this young gamine has clearly given her outfit a lot of thought before she stepped out the door. Well done!!

I have been thinking about this pic for a couple of days, it's great.
Looks like an actress from "Gilmore Girls" style fiction. The ideal-student outfit with that mixture of casual indifference and highly intellectual look it's really amazing. Besides, the winter jumper on the spring dress/skirt gives it a totally free and independent look. I regret the fact that it's already summer here...! ;)

I don't think this is "La bibliothèque des idées" book. I know, it looks like this, but you see what's written on it: "Lettres à Frida".

Try to find it. You can't find it on Gallimard site and, as a matter of fact, you can't find this book at all.

Any ideas?
