Lovely coat and bag! I like the details and the way it falls. Also love her expression it gives the photo a certain look.
black-and-white magic!
The cape is amazing! Where can you find these? :s
Something about her is very "Florence Nightingale". Very religeous and spiritual, beautiful restraint. Love the bag and coat!
So beautiful!!! She looks like an angel! Even though the picture is black and white there is such an intensity in her eyes. I love everything, the cape and the little bag are stunning!
such expressive eyes she's got..and that begining of a smile..just beautiful! xx meenal

everything in place....she is the most wonderful girl I would never be tired to look at...
This is so devine! So out of this world and yet so natural! This is style, as opposed to fashion. I wonder where she was going! Though it doesn't really matter...she nailed it! And so did you!
She looks like she belongs in a completely different era! Love it!
WOW.

wonderfull!
She looks like an Egyptian goddess.
I love how she wears her crossbody pouch around her neck. Also, I love how minimalist this look is yet her broach and pouch have wonderful details. Wish this picture was in color.

She looks like an angel or maybe a goddess to me... wow.
She is beautiful, and I love her short bangs. The cape is gorgeous; however, I would have liked it better if it was shorter and she showed a little bit of leg with it.
I love her bangs and how they part a little off center, and how it seems like she's holding her bag effortlessly (when in fact it's being worn like a necklace) and above all, I love the uneven hem with the vintage shoes (that might have even been stolen from a museum) sticking out.
I would love though to see this in color :D
this way of photographing reminds me of august sanders "menschen des 20. jahrhunderts"
queen!!! white is the highest degree of beauty))
Fascinating!
The details on the outfit are spectacular: the brooch, the cape, the bag, mixture of textures. But the most important she beautifuland looks so intense, her eyes are dramatic.
Great portrait really inspiring.

wow.. an angel.
WOW!
Beautiful photo! She looks so familiar to me....who is she?
Perhaps one of Tyra´s "Supermodels"?
You found another angel :)
I think this photo proves a certain point quite nicely.
Love the classic look of the photo - like something from a Toni Morrison moment.
what a beautiful shot...

stunning.

I have to say, that while the image is arresting - I don't particularly like the look. The pieces individually are dramatic, but together are out of step. My favorite part is her hair style.
amazing. could she be the same person in the picture of another amazing-ness with the red dress? exquisite features and she carries such grace
what a divine coat, so precious and delicate. it absolutely looks like snow, so so soft. the details are stunning. the buttons are phenomenal. and that little bag looks so perfect with it all.
!!!
stunning! the black and white format really makes the photos special! not to mention that the subject is not even from this world!
What is so neat about having so much clothes on?
Wow...absolutely stunning. Just wow.

LONG WHITE SKIRTS AGAIN???? TENGO MIS DUDAS.
KISSES FROM MADRID
Someone mentioned Florence Nightingale... it does have a feeling of a uniform, doesn't it? Quite beautiful.
Seriously haunting. This looks like a fine art photograph. That hand! Perfection...
There's that long white skirt again. Wow.
I love these styles of coats, we've seen this type before. All white, it probably reverses and can be worn inside out. I also happen to love the white chiffon skirts that are so popular now. Funny, that while the runways are promoting certain looks, ie: color blocking, and so on, the population is going in another direction. White for summer is timeless. And we're still in love with vintage.
Perfection!!

She looks like an apparition... To me, it's almost haunting! (maybe because the photo's in black and white?)
Ghoulish. Fascinating shot.
This photograph should be in a collection at a museum. Really. Its so powerful, I love the hand peeking out, it almost makes me think of a saint or icon, the grace of her hand. And what an interesting way to wear a purse...rather like an amulet. And that coat! Not to mention her obvious beauty.
The whole thing is breathtaking. Well done, Scott, and pretty girl on Mercer St. :)
GORGEOUS! Always love a classic black and white!

this will be one of your iconic photos in the long run.
keep going!
I agree that this lovely photo reminds me of an August Sander. If I remember correctly from that interesting short last year, he is a big influence for you, Sart, no?
One thing that I find interesting is that so many people also found the same angel/ghostly feeling as last weeks photo of Abbey Lee. Happily, this time without the body issues, but is it only because she is wearing something that shows nothing of her body?
Oh My God!! Is just the most amazing photo I've ever seen! Thank you for posting it :-)
WOW!
This is a very nice picture.

I love that cape!I have a similar cape in a burnt-orange colour :)
I also really like the "tiers" that her outfit makes: cape->dress->shoes
Stunning! XOXO, www.NatalyasCloset.com
OMg this picture is amazing. i'd boost the darks a bit though.
She looks too fantastic. love everything.
contrast of messy hair and perfect clothes.
her face...
awesomezzz
Love it! So monastic, like a pure angel. And I'm not into religion ;-)
Hmmm, a very fashionable angel, indeed. I love your black & white photography. You should post it more often.
cool shot, love the coat
nubian queen
She could wear anything and look great.
This, however, just looks, okay. Too theatrical.
lovely, hauntingly beautiful photo. it looks mystical, magical, and like a lot of others said, angelic/almost religious in nature. people underestimate the beauty of black and white photography these days.
too sad, too gothic! and don't tell me white gothic is on fashion now.....
Its awesome outfit !
The interesting purse and elabourate buttons give this a subtly baroque look. And I agree with everyone else - she is an angel!
too too weird
I lvoe this wang cape, so chic...;D

Amazing... Speechless
You can just see how gorgeous the wool of her cape must feel. A really beautiful shot.
It´s a very difficult outfit!!!

STUNNING.
wow.
this picture is lovely. her outfit looks veryyy vintage, almost as if she was an actress who walked off a broadway period play in her costume from the 1900's (?). someone mentioned haunting, and i'd have to agree that it is hauntingly beautiful, especially in the way her hair falls on her shoulders, the straight on way she was photographed, the look in her eyes, and that hand (ah!) that is peaking out of her cape! Truly amazing!
Beautiful photo!
Kisses from Spain;)

This is just stunning.
woah! incredibly striking! the lines and shapes that her clothes create are stunning!!!
Wow. This is spooky and beautiful and awesome.

brilliance. i've never commented on a picture before..not because your pictures aren't fantastic but because nothing has taken my breath away like this picture has. i cannot express in words, so i will not even try. thank you for brightening my day and broadening my horizons to all the beauty in the world.
I have to admit that when I first opened this it scared me a little bit - reminded me of clerics' robes hanging in old churches! On closer inspection, however, the shape of the coat and the contrast between its shade and her skin are lovely! I especially love the button at top.
Hauntingly beautiful, calm eyes. The vestal virgin of a monastic cult, holy gaurdian of.............what.........great capes?
Another gorgeous portrait.
Thank you.
OMG! Simply gorgeous :)
I love the black and white. It is almost ghostly. Brilliant.

CURB APPEAL
I have this little feeling I'm being tweaked with the "angelic," "divine," "pure," and "goddess" comments, but in this case I'm happy to be tweaked. Bravo. (and brava, to her)
And if the people entering those comments missed the thread with the last all-in-white, long-skirt image, well then, that's even more interesting. What about this mode of self-presentation resonates so uniformly?
This look is almost hauntingly beautiful!
La Petite Marmoset
This is insanely beautiful. Literally takes my breath away. Well done.
Looks like it came straight out of the pages of some high fashion magazine.
Mars of fashion insouciance
my first thought: I WISH I were that tall.
my second thought: maybe it's the cape that is making her seem taller than she is: particularly, the lines and the fact that her arm on one side doesn't interrupt the line.
Absolutely Darling! Everything lovely from her hair to her beautiful shoes.
Wow. Great photo.
Love the look! The cape and bangs- so witchy women with some Stevie Nicks mojo mixed in.
http://thesaffronsyllabus.blogspot.com/
This is amazing. Fashion. Art. Beauty. Transcendence.
She is reminding me of the girl from the book Corduroy. Beautiful!
Anna nailed it--this photo looks like an icon. Both subject and portrait are simply stunning.
Pretty girl, but I'm not a fan of her costumes.
That you took it in B/W gives it more dramatic contrast and adding a surreal beauty. Stunning indeed.
i love how she played with the lenghts, long coat over a maxi dress and the colours white on white, very notable!
Wow! That is just stunning!
CAN WE GET A LIKE BUTTON!!!!! WOULD MAKE THINGS FUN I THINK. AND IF THERE WAS ONE I WOULD LIKE THIS TIMES A THOUSAND! beautiful really, amazing photography techniques and effortlessly chic style. xxxx

BEAUTIFUL.
Parece mais uma foto de novena.Sei lá! A moça é linda!!!!
with a grand outfit as this, just thinking she could look even better with her hair up in a bun to show off the details around the neckline. OH...well...
Such a beautiful look and I love that its taken in black and white.
http://hautecoutureandwhiskey.blogspot.com
Someone* in the previous "In All White" (On the Street...via A. Sciesa, Milan) post brought up whether people would still see a woman in head to toe white, flowy clothing as angelic if she were not white herself. Obviously some do, but there is a difference.
While both were called angels (the first woman more often than the second), another word often used to describe the first woman was ethereal. Meaning delicate, too perfect, otherwordly. The descriptions of this woman's angelic qualities seem much more earthbound. She brings to mind the angel/savior (Florence Nightingale) or angel/Madonna (Mary) or even angel/missionary. Not only is she not too perfect for this world, but she's an angel with work to do.
The textures of their clothes and styles of their clothes, and the way the light hits them might also contribute. (Would simply switching outfits change the responses, too? I don't know how often dark-skinned women are described as ethereal). But, as that commenter suggested, racial characteristics are coded. Comparing these pictures and the responses is a lesson in how we do that.
*Curious @ 11:04 AM.
I feel like in terms of the previous photo of another women in all white the same words are being tossed around. Words like "angelic" "ethereal" and "goddess" proving that the racial connotations some people where implying in the previous post are not present in the way they believed. An interesting fact to point out in your next book Scott.

Interesting that no one seems horrified to read comments on this black woman looking like an angel, when comments on the white woman in white (a few days ago)looking angelic were read as horribly racist.
Maravillosa. Reminds me the Romanic Art paintings... and her hand looks like from "El Caballero de la Mano en el Pecho" from "El Greco"... great pic
Eerie, ethereal and elegant. Is this perhaps a wedding dress under the cape? The shoes appear to be satin. Is that too simplistic of me to consider?
very very interesting shot. i would not describe this image as flattering for her facial features, but it's hauntingly beautiful.
wow! super stunning. almost magical. <3 EverRubyGirl.blogspot.com
