Getting around by bike can be so much classier than other forms of transport.
I'm always more than impressed by women who have mastered the art of cycling in heels, as she obviously has!

those aren't the shoes I'd recommend for bike riding, but off the bike they go well with what she's wearing. I like that pink bell on her handlebar, it could get a lot of use riding in city traffic

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:50 AM) :

Beautifully minimalistic. Even on a bike she looks so confident and chic!

I have an odd question. I'm not exactly in-tune with the world of fashion, but I notice that in nearly all of your photos, I see almost no one with glasses (except fashion eyewear or sunglasses). Are corrective lenses really that uncommon among the fashionable? I had thought that glasses were beginning to become part of fashion, perhaps I was misinformed. It's a little disheartening to someone like me who's stuck in glasses for life.

She's dressed just fine for biking, that is, if she'd just switch the bike to something a little more appropriate, like your classic euro utility bike... The sporty no fender lean forward fixie/ss with heels is imo just plain stupid.

I find it really disheartening every time you post a photo of someone on a bicycle without a helmet. Images like this make people think it's so much cooler to bike helmet-less - the same way that a fashionable photo of someone smoking makes it look so chic.

On top of that, she's on the sidewalk! This person is clearly a biking hazard.

The jacket is just delicious, to say the least! What kind of fabric is this anyway?
It's also funny how some people comment on her not wearing a helmet! (In Europe, people do this all the time. Helmets are obligatory only for children in most cities). Her shoes are more likely to get her involved in a accident!

Blogger ROXY MARJ said ... (6:36 PM) :

I LOVE photos of people on Bikes! I have asked you this before, but please come to SLC and snap some shots of the bikers out here... Actually, here's a thought, doing a bike tour of the U.S.A and go to all the major cities - shoot the bikers and make a book out of it! :)

Blogger Nicky said ... (6:43 PM) :

Fashion people on bikes is a little too forced for my taste. I am more inspired by watching everyday people who struggle with transporation by bicycle because it is what they can afford. It's interesting how fashion can make a commodity out of the poor & their lifestyle.

Blogger Unknown said ... (6:51 PM) :

She is very pretty, but just that. I am not really a fan of her outfit. A helmet would also be nice!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:17 PM) :

I wonder how far these stylish people (which you pou photograph so beautifully) actually ride ?

Blogger the dizzle said ... (2:58 AM) :

i have a friend crush on this girl. and it is totally possible to ride (albeit maybe a slow, non uphill ride) in heels as long as they're not super spikey (though i've totally seen it done before).

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:51 AM) :

biking with heels is horrible for your shoes though! the bike pedals cut into your heel.

Anonymous Blondie said ... (5:41 AM) :

For the people who are saying she should wear more bike appropriate attire: this is how we do it in Holland. We bike in whatever we are wearing that day, and biking in heels is easier than walking in heels! Go Bette!

Blogger Thelma Frayne said ... (5:49 AM) :

How can someone look this 'together' on a bike? I don't get it. Maybe she does like Phoebe in Friends and just walks around with it looking cool :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:29 AM) :

STUNNING!!!! :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:50 AM) :

What is with all the 'NO HELMET!!!' comments?

Hardly anyone in Europe wears a helmet.

Anyway, I like her top! I wish I could find nice pants liker hers, that fit me. All pants here in Australia are much too big for me and I'm not that skinny. Instead I am stuck wearing jeans:|

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:45 PM) :

I live in a very bike centered place, and hardly anyone wears a helmet. If you really use a bike to get around, then you will not wear a helmet, and probably wear heels and sandals pretty often. the only people who do wear helmets and correct bike shoes only use their bikes for a recreational ride now and then. Besides, aren't you safer wearing a helmet if you are walking too? Does that mean that we should all start wearing them whenever out of the house?

helmet debates get too heated as do seatbelt debates.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:01 AM) :

love Bette!Havent seen much of her lately. She's Dutch (like me) which explains why she isn't wearing a helmet..no one does that in Holland. Practically everyone uses a bike as a daily means of transportation so most people can ride savely..as a kid in elementary school you even take a 'cycling in traffic' exam
moreover i don't think Bette was actually riding on the sidewalk, but merely posing there..

Whoa there ... not everyone who rides a bike is forced into because they can't afford other means of transportation. Sometimes it's just the most practical and fastest way to get places, especially in dense or compact cities.
