Comments on "On the Street.....Uptown, New York"
The first one is amazing !!
OH! LOVE BOTH :-)
Dommage! Elle aurait dû mettre une jupe.
how fierce are they? the first girl is absolutely perfect. she looks smart, sensible and stylish. and i'm loving the bag in the second photo.
http://indieelectronicalternative.blogspot.com/
Oh wow... I don't understand what you do but it's fantastic.
Love the top one.
Fantastic photos. I love their strides.
Ohh.. Thank You for some spring! In Moscow still goes snow. ((
the first one ! lovely.
love uptown girls! that will be me next year. the first look is so chic and elegant.
http://wordbyjessie.com/
I like her braided top bun. It compliments her outfit. Also a cute nod to spring with the shorter skirt.
i love the colours of the lady in the second picture. especially her socks and her pants matched together.
Great street shots! Love the high contrast dark tights, light shoes!

The top picture alone is stunning, especially the way her legs are silhouetted by the tights. Bag and shoes go so well together too!
That hair in the second photo is stunning, and you captured the light beautifully!
Love your street shots! While seeing all the editors shots at shows are inspiring from time to time, those street shots are just much more... Real to me, iykwim. Thank you once again. Hope to see you in action around here some time.
I want to be the firt one!

Two chic women, though how I long to see some Spring fashions in warm weather here in chilly New York...
The second look screams my name! In love!

yeah this is more like what we want to see (more) in this blog, Scott! Something special in ordinary people :)
Love all these earthy tones.
In NY (and Paris, I guess big cities in general) you have to dress according to which neighborhood you are going to. You can't wear your uptown look in the West Village, nooo wayyyyy!!! Much like it would look weird to walk the streets of Marais wearing your Faubourg Saint Honore get up!
Love your photos and comments even the one that everyone got upset about. The viewers need to remember that you are celebrating the style of people.
Both are great. Love the plaid jacket and micro leopard patterned bag!

The first photo is gorgeous, makes me think she just got out of ballet classes. Very sweet look.

I love both, but the first one is a PERFECT example of how to mix neutrals! Texture!

the first gal got the attitude!!
she luks damn good!!
Both women understand their strengths and play to them equally well. The woman in the top photo understands that she is attractive, in shape, and young enough that wearing a short skirt and tights on a cold day won't make her look ridiculous. She also paired the neutrals nicely. The woman in the second photo plays well to her age, hair, and temperance. Her expression is calm and collected -so is her outfit. My bet is that she has green eyes. Neutral colors around her face will bring out her eye color and her red lipstick adds a chic note to all that she's content but not plain.
These ladies have the transition from winter to spring down to a science. Loving the mixture of the fur and cape with lightweight spring pieces!

I like the first one..so cool

The olive is beyond! Perfect from top to bottom.

If anyone is interested in a couple of "curvy" fashion bloggers (who are a bit curvier/sturdier than the girl featured in this blog) but also have excellent personal style ...check out http://www.curvygirlchic.com/ from Cali and http://frocksandfroufrou.com/ out of Australia! Enjoy :)
love the second look! xx from ARGENTINA
Always love the Sartorialist, especially NY http://www.vstylist.com/blog/
Love, love, love the girl in the first pic. Not a single thing wrong with that outfit... The young lady in the second pic is a stunning modern day version of Evita Peron!
hard to believe the curvy hysteria !!
and the number of comments such a post generates !
time to show real curves like advanced style blog shows some real old people..
look for curvy curves on my curvy blog in the future ! will make it a point to go out looking for them!
love the first one!
http://loresfashion.blogspot.com
niiiiice :))) street style rocks!
Thanks Sart. The second snap is the best accessible professional look in a while. Love the shoes that are stylish but actually functional. And the rolled cuff works.
Heels, heels, always heels. Do you ever find flats fashionable? I think I may have seen an occasional oxford here; more please.
Pretty, stylish ladies in any neighborhood. There are no rules about dressing for the neighborhood you're in, as someone here said. You mean I have to change on the subway going from uptown to downtown?
Full is good.
Used to be an upper east sider and there is definitely a Look. I used to enjoy changing personas to go to the Upper West Side or downtown!

Love the first shot! What a chic, wearable outfit for everyday.
Quite fascinatied with the nuetral color palette going on, and all together very chic and sophisticated.

much love.
I love the second photo. I just love her mix of prints and colors.
2 women walk alone. 1 east 1 west.

Love NYC Love this post!
l am so loving them both, the bags, the shoes, the hair, the colors... totally love them.
l am so loving what you do Scott.
Hugs
I guess I'm still thinking about your comments about playing to your strengths. The first woman is small and wears delicate heels to play off that fact. Yes, she's wearing neutrals, but not necessarily in a mundane way. The smokey colors of her jacket and shoes act like a way to draw the eye away from the black. There are a lot of textures going on here as well, but in an orchestrated way. The second photo has a lot going on in my opinion. The bag seems too large for her frame, and interferes with the way her coat hangs. I like the olive and brown together, but then she's got this small leopard print bag that detracts. I would have preferred a clutch in brown. Finally, is it cold or hot? She's got layers on, but then she wears her coat open with what looks like her scarf draped casually around her. Why not leave the scarf at home if it's warm enough to wear the coat open? It's a nice look but there's a little too much going on.
I like the first one! :)
http://booksinmybags.blogspot.com
The woman in the first photo has a hell of a stride! Confidence!
Awesome!
carademamut.blogspot.com
Everything is beautiful... But...I just wonder - why all these women have those high hills? Not that is pretty but hey-are we slaves of these uncomfortable pieces? So good to see a woman with low ones-and yes-you need a little more imagination and creativity to wear these low ones.
the 2nd shot is especially beautiful
Uptown girls always have a style that's always worth a second glance!
Love the leggings and skirt in the first photograph.
Noticing that a lot of people are responding positively to the first shot.. but the lady in the second shot is dressed really great too.. I hate to point out, but perhaps the curvier shape of the second lady is contributing to the weight of the responses? I know this is pertinent to the recent dialogues on this blog on curviness.
Absolutely love the 2nd look!
Hate the fur.
Love the second outfit!
Sart, the top shot is great.
I love seeing people in mid motion.

Both have nice curves.

I soooo love the first outfit!
xx http://www.jnsoo.blogspot.com/
i relate more to the second lady, as she wears things that I could wear also - her coat perhaps, love the color and the pattern. and her way to wear a necklace.
as to her scarf, it might have been cold in the morning and warm in the afternoon... ok ok she could have put it in the bag, its a big enough one. but I find it not always easy to dress in the morning for a whole day with up to 20° temperature difference.
the first lady is beautiful - but for me more like a picture in a museum, lovely but nothing that concerns me really.
love, barbara
Wow! I love both outfits :)
Both outfits are great, but i really lovev the bun of the first girl!my hair is always like that on an everyday basis!

Your blog is such an inspiration

I love these photos, their stances make them seem so confident!
The second, I think, is the same woman who was in a beautiful camel & white piped coat that you posted not too long ago. You hit them all out of the park, so smart!
Coffee and your blog everyday AM or PM, always a pleasure.
2 different styles-both fantastic,2 beautiful women, 2 fabulous photographs. You are amazing!!

where did you get these pictures?
the first one is totally amazing.
I love the first picture, simple and fast,
get ready and go.
Thanks for the Inspiration and I to can TOTALLY Relate to some of the quality points here. This gorgeous dress is Awesome! Bought one of these vintage only last year, hoping to get some mileage out of it.
I actually think the second outfit is a bit more fabulous though both photos are great!
The Second One is what I aspire to. She looks so comfortable, yet so feminine --> that's Class. I especially love her pants, it's so hard to find pants that are tailored but not skin tight (they're usually the pricier ones..)

Ahhh. I love them both head from toe. I think the girl in the second picture has the most beautiful, delicate skin I have seen in a long while.
Melanieee
Looks like the first young woman is on her way to ballet class. But would a real prima ballerina risk her career to stilettos that could get caught in a grate? I kind of doubt it.......
I so wish we had a cold weather in Brazil to pull this of...
Beautiful pictures! Motion makes everything look perfect!
I love the first one. It looks so simple but at the same time fashionable. Its a nice outfit for an early spring. But instead of those light shoes, I would wear some cute boots. The high heels might get dirty.
Great looks, the cloths are wonderful. The colours vibrant very beautiful.
http://mertxehernandez.blogspot.com/
I love the first one, easy, simple, beautiful and makes its statement... LOVE IT !
Three words.. CON FI DENCE
AWESOME!!
I have a question:
Isn't it a faux pas to wear shoes that is lighter than the bottom you are wearing? My teacher told me so, so I want to know for sure. The top one is wearing lighter shoes, and everyone likes it.
faux pas or not? Or is it not in professional settings?
And what about wearing brown pants with black pumps? faux pas?
I love the shoes <3
Loooove the first one. Simple and elegant!
I'm moving to LA this summer. This blog is exactly what I need to keep me...looking like a New Yorker. LOL!
la première parfait ! un peu plus de mal pour la deuxième...
i love the shoe/pant combo in the second photo. A little ankle, a little heel, a cropped tapered leg... lovely.
http://nomadic-d.blogspot.com/
I love them
These are the pictures that epitomize New York Fashion! It's chic it's classy elegant and just screams New York. You can't go wrong with black. The tights with the skirt and heals are perfect together and what I said in my own blog is a great look for the fall. This is classy and timeless. This is New York.
