That's a lot of overall print, but she really seems to have the attitude to pull it off.

From far away, her clutch looked like a baguette. I wish it were for it would look better. Love her confidence, french cuffs and the lighting. Not sure about the rest :)

Now this is a power suit. Anna wear everything with an attitude <3

Blogger Q's Daydream said ... (5:04 PM) :

fabulous!

Blogger Yajaira said ... (5:11 PM) :

wow she's brave to wear that suit..
i mean i understand the blazer with a solid piece but blazer and pants same

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:11 PM) :

The jacket alone would be great; the whole ensemble (2 loud brocade pieces + big shiny sunglasses + big shiny clutch + random gilt thing dangling from her arm) is sort of like a small child running in circles, waving its hands and shrieking for attention.

Anonymous jessica@simplybonvivant said ... (5:17 PM) :

That's alot of that pattern going on...I think she's got the attitude to pull it off!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:20 PM) :

very modest hair to counter the suit! if this is what she wears on rue scribe what she wears for a dress ball is gonna be beyond my imagination.

Those aviators are bangin!

Blogger bng said ... (5:41 PM) :

Love the clutch but the suit is gold overdose. I think only the jacket is enough to be fashinable. Anna doesn't need more than that!

Blogger caribbelle said ... (6:52 PM) :

Is this the Balmain suit if I'm not mistaken. I like it. Very few people have worn it because its hard to pull off but it works here.

Blogger Clemence and me said ... (7:10 PM) :

I love it and especially the reflect in her sun glasses it is possible to see your shadow, handsome!

Blogger Jessica said ... (7:11 PM) :

OK, if folks are going to complain that runway photos are not relatable, then I take exception to ADR.

I get it - she puts on a good show. And if what one is looking for is clothes worn in a fantastical, impractical, unreachably expensive way, she provides.

But if we are looking for inspiration for our own lives - shapes, colors, concepts - nothing could be less useful than another picture of ADR.

Now, I'm not telling anyone to stop taking her picture. Not every picture on this blog has to serve a single purpose. And she is fantastical. (also, it's not my blog) But if haters are gonna hate (I love that phrase), hate on ADR. Because she's not "on the street", she's on her own personal, incredibly costly runway.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:17 PM) :

She can be described with one word: cool

A terrific look for the 18th century. Not sure why one would want to create so much visual disturbance during the day here in the 21st century, though.

Blogger Kacrates said ... (7:34 PM) :

once again she is having fun. reminds me of karen walker last fall with her bob dylan sound of music inspired full suit prints.

i'm so impressed at how the colors reflected in the lenses match her ensemble, including her bag/clutch.

you have such a great eye, Scott.

also ... with this comment, the fait accompli is complete: FatScribe on rue Scribe. a little too on the nose?

Anonymous Bryan said ... (7:56 PM) :

I disagree with a Broad. I think an outfit in one print can look modern. The print becomes, in a way, a neutral element, shifting the focus to the cut of the pant and jacket, the silhouette.

Blogger Jassy Onya'e said ... (7:59 PM) :

wow
simply powerful and stunning

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:11 PM) :

Always unique and distinctive! I can always recognise anna :)
Please Mr Sartorialist would you mind explaining to me what the interesting piece of metal hanging from her shoulder is? At first I thought a bag charm but on second looks not so sure. . ?

Blogger The Photodiarist said ... (8:22 PM) :

Anonymous anna said ... (8:40 PM) :

sometimes its not about what ones wearing but how. this woman simply can and she does it perfectly amazing.

Blogger ADJ said ... (8:42 PM) :

This is a lot to handle. She has the bravado to pull it off but I am not sure about the mirrored aviators. Its a little too fabulous for me.

Blogger Unknown said ... (9:06 PM) :

Funny, but this almost seems understated for ADR. A simply cut suit with a classic white shirt. No fur, no screaming neon colors. I like it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:26 PM) :

esto es horrible. incluso para un sillón.

Blogger SieveMaria said ... (9:30 PM) :

Anonymous Kate said ... (12:14 AM) :

I love this whole ensemble. Beautiful colors and pattern. The cotton button down shirt under the jacket is unexpectedly fresh and a surprising choice that works great.

I have a colorful printed jacket from Italy. The colors are unusual and hard to match with other pieces. I keep looking for them so I can wear the jacket more often.

Love the street photos best on this blog. They're wonderful!

I loved Anna before she went lady gaga like lots of fashionistas and celebrities (rihanna went nuts i can see her telling her stylist edge me up gaga's breathing down my neck!) you have a picture of her with 2 other women just walking down the street locking arms and laughing and i think she looks so fresh and pretty, i don't want to offend anyone it's my modest opinión, it would be good for this blog to get back some healthy debate. Cheers!

I think this is a bit too much. Every single thing she is wearing is absolutely beautiful and yes they go together, but I think this is not so classy anymore.

Did you ever walk into a house that is picture perfect - right out of a magazine? did it leave the impression that no one actually lives in the house? For me this is what is wrong with this look. A walking billboard for design and fabric better used on window treatments. If the goal is to shout look at me I have money, it works. Where Is HER personality, style, Over the top and as several have said this would have looked better without 2 pieces. Cop shades on a tall woman makes me want to fish out my license and reggie.

F---ing awesome ! The shades are a touch of genius.[2]

If she wore the jacket with black pants she'd just look like any old lady at the opera.

I would have loads of fun wearing this, better than wearing a true Baroque dress in the street!

Anonymous HMS said ... (12:48 PM) :

To a comment above: ADR is trying too hard. That is her raison d'etre. As with most people that exist to be photographed.

I actually like the suit. However in bright sunshine, it loses any context other than "hey look at me!" The accessories are garish in this context as well (although individually nice), the sunglasses offensive even.

This is someone who is supposed to be a fashion "icon" - if those things still exist. The question is what kind of story is she trying to tell?

She is just visually loud.

How does she fit into the zeitgeist? What is her actual relevance to fashion as it relates to culture?

She is a sideshow, a curiosity. She has no identity. Maybe that is the point...

Blogger jmblack said ... (1:43 PM) :

I just want to say I love the variety of styles you've posted on here. It has really inspired me to try new styles, despite people not "getting it" right away. I'm usually a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl, or just a simple dress here and there. But I've begun to pair white shirts with strapless blue dresses, stripped sweater over purple floral dresses, and belting more. I know they don't seem like such an extravagant leap, but it's really boosted my confidence and made me enjoy my wardrobe more =) So again, thanks!

Whats great about this is that it IS too much - and that's exactly why she is wearing it. And the gold accessories push it beyond over the top. If she had tried to tone it down - or worn only one piece, it wouldn't have worked. Pushing this over the top is the only way to make this look work. Bravo for having fun with fashion, and knowing when and how hard to push the envelope.

Blogger chellspecker said ... (5:28 PM) :

Anna IS brocade. With the mirrored glasses and gold clutch, perfection. And I've always loved that her hair is rather plain and sometimes almost unwashed-looking. There's a kind of mannish rockstar vibe to it. With a different hairstyle, this look would go Vegas or Miami beach in the blink of an eye.

What I love most about your eye is that you so often find people above the age of 30 who dress wonderfully. It's a small thing, I know, but I like seeing people in my approximate age group who are doing such bold and fun things with fashion, and lookbook, fruits, and seemingly all the other outlets for outfits skew sooo young.
