Comments on "On the Street....rue Scribe, Paris"
Mixed feelings on the two-piece. . .
-Stephen Www.stitchesfabricandsoul.com
That's a lot of overall print, but she really seems to have the attitude to pull it off.
I could never in a million years...
...but on her, so striking.
From far away, her clutch looked like a baguette. I wish it were for it would look better. Love her confidence, french cuffs and the lighting. Not sure about the rest :)
http://bresfittingroom.blogspot.com
cool!!
she is looking fabulous in these sunnies, loving the suit
http://elenavasilieva.blogspot.com/
x
The look would have looked so much more chic and easy if just one of the two pieces had been worn.
www.thesluicebox.com
Simply fabulous!!!
The pattern itself is of interest. Isn't this too much as a total look, though?

Her sunnies are perfect but the way you've captured the reflections is even better.
She's so pretty, Golden Woman..!

she's just so much fun! ...all the time.
Now this is a power suit. Anna wear everything with an attitude <3
fabulous!
wow she's brave to wear that suit..
i mean i understand the blazer with a solid piece but blazer and pants same
The jacket alone would be great; the whole ensemble (2 loud brocade pieces + big shiny sunglasses + big shiny clutch + random gilt thing dangling from her arm) is sort of like a small child running in circles, waving its hands and shrieking for attention.
That's alot of that pattern going on...I think she's got the attitude to pull it off!
very modest hair to counter the suit! if this is what she wears on rue scribe what she wears for a dress ball is gonna be beyond my imagination.
Anna! The details make the outfit!
http://taleahl.blogspot.com/
She is always an inspiration!
puhhleezze!
this is bad... where is the sense of fashion??
Gold Member! I almost wish her nail polish was gold!
Those aviators are bangin!
Love the clutch but the suit is gold overdose. I think only the jacket is enough to be fashinable. Anna doesn't need more than that!
http://bngstyle.blogspot.com
beautiful sunnies!!! love them.
http://wordbyjessie.com/
Love this look - so cool. Her confidence & the shades make it work.
http://whoahgucci.blogspot.com/
I love her outfit here.
My Heart Blogged
Anna Dello Russo, always so fashion
Great look and the sunglasses caught my eye first and then the outfit. Her pose Rocks!
Love the look...and I have the same glasses!
as always - a walking perfection/inspiration.
There's something aggressive about the way this woman wears her clothes that I cannot get past, try though I may.
This blog is at its best when it's not about the Fashion set. I'm officially tired of seeing Anna Dello Russo *everywhere.*
I am not a lover of a entire outfit in one print.. it loses its modernity ..
Amazing! as usual!
http://celinemademoiselle.blogspot.com/
A fantastic outfit but almost nobody photographs well in shades.
I love this. She fits it so well. Elegant yet sophisticated.
I love the suit. The white top underneaths adds something simple to help break up a suit in one print.
xx
Is this the Balmain suit if I'm not mistaken. I like it. Very few people have worn it because its hard to pull off but it works here.
gold rush!
she is on point.
(rennfayre2k11)
I love it and especially the reflect in her sun glasses it is possible to see your shadow, handsome!
OK, if folks are going to complain that runway photos are not relatable, then I take exception to ADR.
I get it - she puts on a good show. And if what one is looking for is clothes worn in a fantastical, impractical, unreachably expensive way, she provides.
But if we are looking for inspiration for our own lives - shapes, colors, concepts - nothing could be less useful than another picture of ADR.
Now, I'm not telling anyone to stop taking her picture. Not every picture on this blog has to serve a single purpose. And she is fantastical. (also, it's not my blog) But if haters are gonna hate (I love that phrase), hate on ADR. Because she's not "on the street", she's on her own personal, incredibly costly runway.
She can be described with one word: cool
Amazing outfit, color-ftw! <3
If not color, then gold and black baroque print. Let's get attention!
The Right to Beauty:
http://theskyofstars.blogspot.com/
A terrific look for the 18th century. Not sure why one would want to create so much visual disturbance during the day here in the 21st century, though.
once again she is having fun. reminds me of karen walker last fall with her bob dylan sound of music inspired full suit prints.
I think she looks sensational... great outfit on this very beautiful woman - the gold aviators top it off! Impressive photograph too Scott.
F---ing awesome ! The shades are a touch of genius. and all the accessories... A lot of work but finally its not mannered.. it's just fun and stylish.
Fierce baby!
i'm so impressed at how the colors reflected in the lenses match her ensemble, including her bag/clutch.
you have such a great eye, Scott.
also ... with this comment, the fait accompli is complete: FatScribe on rue Scribe. a little too on the nose?
I disagree with a Broad. I think an outfit in one print can look modern. The print becomes, in a way, a neutral element, shifting the focus to the cut of the pant and jacket, the silhouette.
wow
simply powerful and stunning
Always unique and distinctive! I can always recognise anna :)
Please Mr Sartorialist would you mind explaining to me what the interesting piece of metal hanging from her shoulder is? At first I thought a bag charm but on second looks not so sure. . ?
Great portrait!
sometimes its not about what ones wearing but how. this woman simply can and she does it perfectly amazing.
This is a lot to handle. She has the bravado to pull it off but I am not sure about the mirrored aviators. Its a little too fabulous for me.
www.greeneggsandglam.blogspot.com
Funny, but this almost seems understated for ADR. A simply cut suit with a classic white shirt. No fur, no screaming neon colors. I like it.
esto es horrible. incluso para un sillón.
Yes ! I love this - I think everyone should dress like this every once in a while and some people - should every day ! I wonder what shoes she is wearing ?
Nobody but Anna could pull this off without looking like they tried too hard. The cuffs and shades, complete the look beautifully.
So chic. I love her style.

Love this. Love the backlight and the reflection, its an amazing shot, amazing way the capture the all -over shine of this amazing outfit. Love the head to toe shine and pattern. Very satisfying.
That outfit must have taken a lot of courage...she does have the right attitude for it though!!have a great weekend!!
love the intricate designs on the outfit! glamorous!
xoxo

Oh WOW... I am not sure how to react to this one. Thats a hell of a lot of print.
She looks like a dragon lady here; think Cixi or Wu Zetian. The power that emanates is unmistakeably aggressive, as someone here has commented, but looks good on her.
nice!! but only a jacket with a solid black trouser ! will look better!!
loving the GOLD... :)
and really liking the SUNNIES. where they from? anyone any idea?
I love this whole ensemble. Beautiful colors and pattern. The cotton button down shirt under the jacket is unexpectedly fresh and a surprising choice that works great.
I have a colorful printed jacket from Italy. The colors are unusual and hard to match with other pieces. I keep looking for them so I can wear the jacket more often.
Love the street photos best on this blog. They're wonderful!
Anna dello Russo, ANNA DELLO RUSSO! How I love thee...let me count the ways... -- I love how you can see the feet of the crowd (I'm assuming photographers, spectators, fellow fashion fanatics) in the reflection of her sunglasses. I love the theme of this -> GOLDEN.
I'm not sure if i like her suit or i hate it, but lovely pic :)
http://www.ohmydior.org/
I love you Scott Shuman! Thanks for my signing my copy of your book. ADR is always flawlessly chic. Those glasses remind me of the Mykita & Bernhard Willhelm Franz golden sunglasses Sarah Jessica Parker wore in the 2010 movie Sex and the City 2. Don't they?
www.viviid.thesweetstruggle.com
Is her nail polish reflective?!
I want to take her home and sit on her or hang her in the window.
I think it's a great look!
She could be in "Velvet Goldmine". I encourage more craziness in dress that upsets people. Nice.
http://www.theclothesstory.blogspot.com
i just really adore her! beautiful photo scott!
She's definitely the queen of style! Great pic, congrats!
www.abitoffashion.com
ADR - a goddess in tailored brocade! Like how I can see the gathering crowd in her reflective sun glasses!
LOVE the texture
Wow.... but Anna is practically always "wow"... :)
http://www.isthisitmodelsreview.com/
Just fabulous!!!
I LOVE HER AVIATORS!:)
That shouldn't work, but she carries it off with style. <3
not from this world. :) and she's obviously discovered minx' nail foils - first silver, now red.
lovely picture!
I love her style... truly a fashion icon
very bold and daring
http://thesuburbanray.blogspot.com/
True fashion is subjective, not everyone will love it
What ornate print! Reminds me of Baroque splendour...and she carried it off with her confidence!
http://le-chic-boutique.blogspot.com
Amazing! I love Anna, she is always so prefect! M.
I love this look, all of the gold looks gorgeous on her!
xoxo Sootjeelina <3
I love gold lame fabric at the moment but a two-piece suit is too much. I prefer it to be worn as a skirt...obviously she can pull it off though. NHG x
http://nottinghillgirl.blogspot.com/
Very nice outfit!
Hihi, Prada style of holding the clutch, right?
By the way, I seriously started wondering if she pays you to put her on your blog so often...? I wish I could see more "street people"
The outfit makes me feel schizophrenic! Too much print. I do like the colors, though, and the cut of the jacket.
PFW is been amazing
www.coolneeded.com
Anna is beautiful as ever.. The suite is dies van noten...? :) i love you scott :D
Daniela.
il est super ce tailleur imprimé brocart, en plus elle a de la chance elle ne fait pas tapisserie ^^
I loved Anna before she went lady gaga like lots of fashionistas and celebrities (rihanna went nuts i can see her telling her stylist edge me up gaga's breathing down my neck!) you have a picture of her with 2 other women just walking down the street locking arms and laughing and i think she looks so fresh and pretty, i don't want to offend anyone it's my modest opinión, it would be good for this blog to get back some healthy debate. Cheers!
The outfit does not wow me, but the lighting and her sunglasses do!
I think this is a bit too much. Every single thing she is wearing is absolutely beautiful and yes they go together, but I think this is not so classy anymore.
Someone said about the Gaga phenomenon and I agree. I think there is only one Gaga and there is no need for the rest of the world to pretend to be as brilliantly crazy as she is.
Ruhvana
love~
i need that clutch now!
love this:)
much love from Tokyo,

Did you ever walk into a house that is picture perfect - right out of a magazine? did it leave the impression that no one actually lives in the house? For me this is what is wrong with this look. A walking billboard for design and fabric better used on window treatments. If the goal is to shout look at me I have money, it works. Where Is HER personality, style, Over the top and as several have said this would have looked better without 2 pieces. Cop shades on a tall woman makes me want to fish out my license and reggie.
love the sunglasses!
http://kimchicsisters.blogspot.com/2011/03/decor-lovin.html
A cross between Charles II and Neil Armstrong.
This is so bohemian. I love that!
i love the blazer!! :D
xx
Woh ! I love this ! It's so beautiful, the two-piece with the same color and forms !
The bag is also so cute.
(and the sunglasses : so star !)
And this, and this, and this... I'll stop here, because I love all the suit ! It's very "baroque" as we say in Paris.
http://www.bulletinmode.blogspot.com/
Perfectly turned out! I like the shorter sleeves so you can see the cuff of the shirt. The photo managed to mirror in her sunglasses the same colors she is wearing. Great photo.
i love the crowd and the shadows we see instead of her eyes, terrific !
AAAAAAAAmazing!!!
http://team-foodies.blogspot.com/
F---ing awesome ! The shades are a touch of genius.[2]
If she wore the jacket with black pants she'd just look like any old lady at the opera.
I would have loads of fun wearing this, better than wearing a true Baroque dress in the street!
To a comment above: ADR is trying too hard. That is her raison d'etre. As with most people that exist to be photographed.
I actually like the suit. However in bright sunshine, it loses any context other than "hey look at me!" The accessories are garish in this context as well (although individually nice), the sunglasses offensive even.
This is someone who is supposed to be a fashion "icon" - if those things still exist. The question is what kind of story is she trying to tell?
She is just visually loud.
How does she fit into the zeitgeist? What is her actual relevance to fashion as it relates to culture?
She is a sideshow, a curiosity. She has no identity. Maybe that is the point...
Egoista
This is one of my favourite Anna photos of all time!!! Love it!
www.beautifulstreets.blogspot.com
I just want to say I love the variety of styles you've posted on here. It has really inspired me to try new styles, despite people not "getting it" right away. I'm usually a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl, or just a simple dress here and there. But I've begun to pair white shirts with strapless blue dresses, stripped sweater over purple floral dresses, and belting more. I know they don't seem like such an extravagant leap, but it's really boosted my confidence and made me enjoy my wardrobe more =) So again, thanks!
Miu Miu bags, Beckham sunglasses, balmain suit...oh AdR is always so chic, wow!
http://fashiondoesntexist.blogspot.com/
She's amaaaaazing!!
Xx
love the look right down to her metallic nail
Wow it's so overwhelming! Not even sure how I feel about this outfit, but she sure looks like she loves it, so I'll go with that! Absolutely adore her glasses though!
http://luxecouture05.blogspot.com/

balmain suit?
victoria beckham 24k gold glasses.
ADR's awesome beyond words.
he wears his brocade on his sleeve
Seeing this photo I am so glad I have such an aviator, with golden glasses!! Can't wait to wear them!
xo thefashionguitar
For myself, I wouldn't have the balls to carry this outfit but on her, she seems to carry the right attitude...which is what makes most looks come together.
Long Live the Queen! xoxo
hideandchic2011.blogspot.com
Not like many have expressed here, I get a lot of ideas from her look, even though if I sold my car I still would not be able to buy a single piece of it :P
Well, too much gold for me, but Anna Dello Russo definitely wears it with class
Love the crazy reflecting nail polish!
http://fashionthroughtravel.blogspot.com/
Gleaming
Whats great about this is that it IS too much - and that's exactly why she is wearing it. And the gold accessories push it beyond over the top. If she had tried to tone it down - or worn only one piece, it wouldn't have worked. Pushing this over the top is the only way to make this look work. Bravo for having fun with fashion, and knowing when and how hard to push the envelope.
Great combination of elements!
I love the gold with the white. Very amazing.
If anyone can pull this look off it is Anna...but I'm not sure how I personally feel about it. I'm getting a curtain vibe for the whole suit. Love the nail polish tho!
Wow, I've seen all over brocade or paisley or whatever it is looks so cool and streamlined on someone, certainly not in real life on the street!
Please explain what "sunnies" are?? If it means sunglasses what brand and type does she have?
I don't think it's too much, I think she looks great! But maybe it's because this look seems quite subdued compared to what she normally wears.
Initially I found the pant/jacket combo to be too much of this particular print, the more I look at it, however, the more I like it.
Ahhh magnifique!
stunning suit and i love the way her aviators interact with the fabric.
You look really great! Fantastic blazer and nice damask-ish baroque print.
kepben.blog.hu
don't know her personally and likely never will, so there is no remark on her personality from me,
but i truly don't understand the fascination surrounding her apart from the spectacle she creates.
Great fabric.
Anna IS brocade. With the mirrored glasses and gold clutch, perfection. And I've always loved that her hair is rather plain and sometimes almost unwashed-looking. There's a kind of mannish rockstar vibe to it. With a different hairstyle, this look would go Vegas or Miami beach in the blink of an eye.
I love her.
Thats a new accessory, she's leash on. So interesting.
Love he glasses where are they from!
What I love most about your eye is that you so often find people above the age of 30 who dress wonderfully. It's a small thing, I know, but I like seeing people in my approximate age group who are doing such bold and fun things with fashion, and lookbook, fruits, and seemingly all the other outlets for outfits skew sooo young.
I mean those sunglasses are PERFECTION! Simply sublime, and i want them, but they are sold out already on net-a-porter, ugh!
She pulls of the suit as well!
She really have the attitude to wear that!
Bravo!
That's a HOT man!
Sexy Librarian, the Menesunda Edition.
I like... elements of this outfit. The sunglasses are great, and the jacket might have been cool if she had worn it by itself, but altogether?
gaudy. too flashy. I don't like it.
Boy o Boy this is amazing !
This is absolutely the way to go with it. Only one piece would have been a "like everyone else-look".
Way to go!
