Comments on "On the Street.....Manly Men, Florence"
These guys have great hair..non styled, pretty natural -w
www.streetandcityphotos.com
the second gent reminds me DH Lawrence :-P
Oh, yes!
These chaps look like they have seen some action, I'd definitely ask them for advice about something outdoorsy. Good to see that even the rugged types still recognise the unbuttoned bottom button rule too!
I love the colour combination of the second one!
Looooooove ;D
new in lanvin: http://magmoiselle.fr
classic. these guys look like they're good at living, not just at dressing.
Manly men...and dressed very well at that!...Great tweed blazer.
Florence is one of my favorite cities..
—Lorena
The first one looks like if Conan O'Brien was a villain from Die hard. I love the second guy's blazer.
Love the contrast between the tailored clothes and the rugged appearance - the so-called rough diamond. Nice.
Two examples of how I want to look when I am a bit older than today.
they've all got the pensive professor look down. I like these looks, its a polished everyday look.
These styles are so lovely
first guy , intensity and depth are capturing. breathless initially and an empathy follows.
send 'em stateside...
Nicely done.
I think the dude in photo one could be better groomed, but I love the deepness of the blues he's wearing, and, though the post is called "Manly Men," the pocket square looks more like an orchid, and reminds me of Clifton Webb in "Laura": he's Zach Galifanakis crossed with Waldo Lyndecker. The guy below is PERFECT. Scorching.
i think that is more manly their hair color than the outfit. very manly! but it certanly helps :)
I think the gentleman in the top photo would look better without the tie and his shirt button open to elongate his neck, other wise both are very handsome. I like the very manly rugged look.
Gorgeous.
Do men really dress like this? Take me where this happens.
nicely dressed without looking like that's all they think about. Love it that the second photo man's companion has a bandaged hand.
Paula
Sart, maybe you could grow a beard too...
I love this look on men, it brings to mind Sean Connery in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
Yummy!! Thank you.
I´m in love with ´bearded´ men!! :)
Facial hair and looking dapper. Love it.
www.TheFancyTeacup.com
much love.
real men with great style! facial hair is always a bonus
Its amazing how chic beards have now become. Love the hands behind the back.

I love me some manly men! I'm all about the lumberjack look. I especially love it when fashion men embrace their inner masculinity. I feel like so much of male fashion last decade was the ultra-skinny teenage look. Glad to see muscles are making a comeback.
i love MANly men, i love beards, hairy chest [within reason of course], etc etc...these men look great. the first mans beard and hair could have been a bit more tame but he looks great either way.
I've always thought that a beard looks so much better on a man.
I really like the second!
but they are both interesting, with this stone-washed look!
the sceond one as I said is reallyyy cute, I'd like to date him....
:)
http://theshoppingstylist.blogspot.com/
though facial hair was reserved to sebastian chebal in france, seems to be catchin on!
The second man is just perfect for me :)

the man below is so sexy. i love his look and beard.

Gentlemen of the embodiment of style and charm to))
P.S. please ask the second dude for his number. thx.
What I take from this is the pocket square position and shape. It isn't the straight edge "Mad Men", but isn't too dandy either. I like it for a pulled together yet not too business-like look.
Very handsome! I'll take one of #2, please ;)
The patch of white makes it just right.
I love the sports coat, the second man is wearing. ;)
another vincent van gogh look alike! :)

Now that's the kind of style I'm talking about! Gritty yet refined. Elegant yet untamed. Forget those overly manicured, politically-correct pansies - These are the kind of guys that go chop some wood out back before hitting the cocktail bar, or cook dinner for their girls that they actually killed. (Or at least that is what their beards signal).
If only I could grow a beard...
These truly are lovely men. I am curious about the injured hand in the second picture, however! Bar fight?
Very good lookin. Omg the first one looks exactly like a younger version of my dad!!!
http://www.PersonalMode.com
Really delicious on so many levels.
The second gentleman does hirsute just right while the first one has to groom himself a bit more. That's my $0.02 worth. I'm an Asian female; perhaps the preference is cultural.....
Good diversity of shots recent, Sart. But I keep wondering if the shot of those 3 women deep in conversation at Paris posted 11 March 2011 is meant to keep ardent fans like us on our toes?
They'd both look even better in flannel & worker jeans.
OMG This post is making my life!!! It's like style porn.
I would be happy if every man dressed like this most days of the week.

the first look is a little too scruffy...the second one is pretty good...naturally cool!! xx meenal
the second is the best. the first one, for me that is, almost a crime in fashion.
my goodness! real men! groomed, handsome...men with meat on their bones. enough already with the excessively slender men.

Tose men are so well dressed and stylish ! I really like it.
Greetings from Brussels.
http://celinemademoiselle.blogspot.com/
très classe !! j'adore le contraste entre la barbe de plusieurs jours et les tenues dandy :)
Perfect men!!!
top one:
HOMO SAPIENS MILANESIS!
wishing human kind came after him in style and testosterone! Even better we can get a bust of... he is so cool!
Hairy men! :)
http://le-chic-boutique.blogspot.com
Erm. You make me think I should grow a beard so people stop confusing me with a 21 year old woman.
I humbly think the second man looks more manly. There is something affected in the uber-manliness of the first one, perhaps?
http://davidikus.blogspot.com/
Pretty cooool!!!
Of all the clothing I liked the pochette. It is well said ¨A suit or sports coat with an empty breast pocket is unfinished business.¨ Stanley Lewis.
Second picture is great! Love the colors. Even the beard is matching.
@Greencoat: As opposed to...on a woman?
Haha, they look like landlords gone bad:P I love it, very sexy!
Maybe I hang out in academe way too much, but I feel like this look is neither new nor updated enough by just a white hanky. (I surrender?)
Scruffy is sexy.
OOooo I love it! The color combination and everything! :D
Beautiful, especially the second man. Reminds me of my youth some thirty years ago. Boy would I have gone for this sharp dressed man. A very almost "old time" Ralph Lauren look going on here. Love it!
Looking like a cave man doesn't make one "manly." Sorry.
I prefer the second; and imo with a tie he would be simply perfect. :)
http://www.isthisitmodelsreview.com/
First guy looks a bit homeless... I'm a neck shaved kind a gal.. like the hair though.
I'll admit I love feminine men way more than masculine men...always have! Brad Pitt..no thanks! Hugh Grant..yes please!
Love the art teacher cheek look.
Very cool, very wearable and very Ferry!
there's something smartly sexy about those unkempt hair.

The german men could learn from this...

If manly men is becoming a trend, I am a happy, happy girl.

Perfect! It´s all about the attitude, a balance between elegance, natural movements and self-confidence. He shows the best of him without flashy garments and stridency.
Men "with a little meat on their bones" - that's just so sexy! Women with a little extra? no, we just can't have that!
i love it when a man can wear a beard not a beard wear the man...
I forgot to say that my comment was referred to the second pic, the man wiht the brown jacket and grey trousers. : )
First guy needs to trim his beard. Second guy is right on.
Hearting the beards. They are apparently the new 'it' accesory. ;)
1st guy - jacket wee bit too small. 2nd guy - just right. 2nd guy wins.
I love a good beard. Especially the second guy. My husband sports a beard and it just adds to his rustic manliness.
I know both, they re cousins and from stylish Spain. The frist one owns MAN a mens apparel store at Madrids Claudio Coello 17 street
Ah, FINALLY! Proper men! Please, no more skinny delicate looking creatures. Bring back the manly man. The gentleman sporting the lighter-toned jacket - tres sexy!
at last manly men!! ;)))
very cute
Yes, indeed! Wish more men looked like this...
I love me a manly man!
Oh yes, Italianos!
Second gentleman looks a bit like Dennis Quaid!
Yes please!
I live in Florence. I would like to know where you found these two guys! I really love them.
This couple are from Madrid I think.. love shopping at their boutique in Madrid
Manly is not a need for a hair cut. Let's remember James Bond. excellent hair and the ability to handle a fist fight. these boys are pretty but I would only but money on their ability to run... and get women.
Heavenly, understated....definition of masculinity to me!
older guy very Van Gogh!
older guy very Van Gogh! great look!
Lovely blazer on the second guy. Anyone happen to know where to get one like it?:)
What a dapper look! Loves it! I always love your pictures!
I would love if you could check out my blog...

The style of Italian men never gets old! So timeless!
yes! I miss the manly man especially the burly dapper type (is this logical?), a man who isn't afraid to be a man albeit a good looking one. I am getting tired of the skinny, clean shaven, metro look and it's refreshing to see some guys who are a bit disheveled in a rough around the edges sort of way. I've got a soft spot for beards, my man sports a lovely one. and yes he's a burly man.
Top dude is too shaggy and rumpled. I don't know where some commenters get 'rugged' and 'outdoorsy.'
2nd pic is so inspiring: I want to recreate that.
I love the tweed jacket in the second picture. i like his hair too ;)))
Great to see the mans man represented on a fashion blog. Some people seem to have forgotten he ever existed.
They look like they should be playing Rugby with that hair.
Why does my mans unruly long locks not look as stylish as these gentlemen ?!?!?
i m in luv with both. so elegant so beautiful so charmant
Was the second guy wearing a wedding ring? Such classic style and good looks! I'd like to have coffee with him!
so it's true that beautiful men came in all shapes and sizes... just like women... love them all...
http://twofoureightonenine.blogspot.com/
Hemingway Italian style
Conan O'Brien's dad and Dennis Quaid's long-lost brother have some serious style.
roarrrr!!! grizzly men!
I like the second guy !
MM&I
Always loved this look. ;)
Is it me? Looks like guy #1 jacket is a little long.... And I LOVE it. The overly tight and short sport coat trend should go! I think a slim fit with a little below the back pocket length is fantastic!
The polar (bear) opposite of the "Mad Man" look.
i'm in lust !
van gough in blue!
The dude in the second pic looks quite like David "wolfman" Williams (google him!) That being said, you can be rugged yet still rock the clothes you wear.
First pic reminds me of our carpenter at work- he's pretty gruff!
The second guy is perfect!
I heard you're a man with True Grit!
I want to be the man on the bottom. Great style with the hair and the beard.
Love these guys, but not the beards!!
first man - eits in the eyes, yum so intense & sexy - love the geometric grid print shirt...second man looks like a middle-aged Ashton Kutcher!
The second one looks like a younger, wild version of Dennis Quaid! I liked it, hahaha...
Love your blog!! Greatins from Brazil!
Elegance is an attitude. They have the attitude.
That suit in the last photo was great. It makes the man look so elegant.
looks like he's a businessman.
HEEEELLLLLo. wow. handsome man.
1th wearing navy jacket guy, also Luchino Visconti films "Il gattopardo" Burt Lancaster...look's like.
I´m agree about these guys are from Spain. The first is from Bilbao, owner of "Man", with shops in Madrid and Bilbao.
I love this style. I'm too young, but this man was WAHOU.
thks Scott for your shoots and your vision of beautiful and style. We can considere there are a lifestyle Scott or a Lifestyle Garance.
The second one only please.
The second one, in the taupe tweed blazer, is wonderful. I would drink his bath water.
first one:
do you want to marrie me?
