Comments on "On the Street....Eveline, Paris"
a very tasteful way to show off some skin, just my opinion. even if she's dressed in black she still stands out. i love the effects of the birds flying on the background too. very dramatic.
Your trenchcoat is absolutely adorable! The trenchcoat rocks!!! It's absolutely stunning!
Oh well...
soory but u make me laugh now,it seems more a wonderful up date about the Angelika s pictures...just wonderful and curvy girl in Paris:))love her boots, ankle boot are back to the top!

Wow this is such a beautiful photo.
http://streetsandrunways.tumblr.com/
Love the shoes and the backdrop( though i don't fancy standing amongst birds in flight)..but her cocked eyebrow makes it a little less candid.. a bit staged..lovely overall though xx meenal
The first thing I thought when I saw this picture is that I normally wouldn't love the shoes, but her skirt length and the thickness of her legs make it all work. This I thought, before seeing the previous post and ensuing dialogue.
Incredible bone structure.
Amazing! Love the birds in the background. Reflects a city in motion!
THANK YOU SO MUCH SCOT FOR THIS SHOT! I LOVE IT, IS AMAZING, AND THOSE BIRDS BEHIND...
IT WAS SO NICE TO MEET YOU!!!
EVELINE

Just lovely - I agree with what 'I am puffy' wrote.
This picture make me think about Hitchcock's movie. Maybe the trench, maybe, the spectalular expression on her face, maybe birds behind her...
I really appreciate your work, every pictures transcribes or build an emotion...
So, thank you, really !

Love this! Gorgeous jacket, especially the dramatic juxtaposition between the aleeves and those beautiful gloves. The lipstick gives the whole look a graphic feel. Fantastic!
the pigeons are off the chain!
Wonderful photo! The birds, the slight blur, behind the beautiful bold woman!
Black Divine!
i love the drama of the pigeons flying from behind! woooooshhh~ and that bagg is as one of my friend's would say "to die"!
look at those angels behind her! helter skelter from her fierceness! lol
The birds in the background are amazing! I love her clothes, too
Exelent photo! Beautiful girl =)
She's gorgeous. Her style is very elegant. She's curvy like the everyday woman. Refreshing to see. The photo is like a woman being caught in a moment of introspection and then she looks up to find someone she recognizes.
Picture Perfect!!

Hey Scott,
This comment relates to your earlier photos! and just as much to this one!
I've been reading/salivating over your blog for yonks. I'm healthy and I love my body (most days), I'm about a 12 (australian sizes...) so i'd say i've got curves everywhere...! The biggest thing I get out of your blog is inspiration. I don't look at size, I've learnt not too (my body is my own and nobody elses is the same... you can't copy the shape of an arse as a fashion statement!) , what I love most is that I can get inspiration from anyone, in whatever form it comes and then use that inspiration to celebrate my unique shape and expression!
The biggest thing that happens when one talks about womens bodies (and one of the most dissapointing, for me) is that we (EVERYONE) seems to think that pointing out differences inherantly also implies what the 'norm' looks like.
We are all different from each other, normal is a myth that haunts everyone and taunts them if ever they are brave enough to love and accept their own skin.
Fashion is about style and attitude, you can find that in the most unexpected places and on the most unassuming bodies.
I loved those photos, and you are right about her legs and those shoes, they balance BEAUTIFULLY... Balance is a massive part of the reason why I look incredible in thick heavy cowboy boots (they make my hips sway and balance my thighs!) and someone like Garance (she posted about this!) doesn't feel like they would work!
There is no safe way to write or think about womens bodies, there is no modern jargon that will keep you out of trouble. Every word carries many unique connotations for each of us, and in the end, perhaps if you can see the positive way in which terms like 'curvy' and 'sturdy' can be used then perhaps you are better off! Negative connotations will only narrow our ability to describe diversity and to openly and objectively love and learn from each others style!

She looks gorgeous and the moment is unbelievable with the birds in the back! great job!
What a gorgeous all black ensemble. Her boots are killer, but love how you captured the bird flying free behind her.
www.TheFancyTeacup.com
much love.
wonderful!!!I like also the light effect on her image
The birds in the background add to how beautiful this picture is.
I love the balance between the heavy jacket and gloves to the bare legs. It is so refreshing.
A really lovely photo.
This made my day.

I really don't like either of these pictures with the clunky shoes. I don't think the proportions work at all. Either of those shoes would have been better with a flared or boot cut pant or maxi skirt than a miniskirt or skinny jeans. I'm also a "curvy" girl and wearing a big shoe just calls to attention your thighs in a not flattering way. I don't mind a platform, but it should have been an open toe wedge and that bare leg would have looked less like a brick attached to her foot.
I need that lipstick. Great photo.
The all black is gorgeous. Her shoes work so well with the dress/coat. Fantastic shot!
xx
Amazing outfit! Love it!

Beautiful shot. With the trench and the birds in the background it reminds me of a Hitchcock film.

Our Polish Blog Star!!! :-)
I like this image. She's standing strong and there's all that flutter of the birds behind her. Well captured.
gorgeous girl and picture!
so stylish, elegant, and fresh!
If I were to judge strictly from Sarto's photos, it would be that European women wear wedge heels alot. Reminds me of those old occupied France photos where women wore...wedges.
I LOVE LOVE THIS! The pigeons flying in the background make this perfect. I am surprised that she didn't react to those birds though! When pigeons start flying around me, I run!
The birds in the background add to how beautiful this outfit is.
I love her style!

I assumed that this is the "similarly curvy body type" image Scott mentioned in yesterday's post!!
Scott, you shouldnt really have the need to pointed out how their body type are.....
what a simply chic outfit. how you captured the birds flying away is equally amazing.

I don't love the porportions of her hair/outfit/shoes- But its a great shot- OMG THOSE BIRDS!
Yesssss a curvy one ... nothing wrong with it ! Sunny Side
What I love is how all the blacks are different textures! Way to balance out the "wrapped-up-ness" with a lot of leg...and the red lipstick is perfect!
Very strong! Love the wedges

Dear Scott,
I see what you mean calling them curvy. I saw the pictures from yesterday and was anxiously awaiting today's post.
I agree with one comment made earlier I come to this brogue to get inspired and these two pictures have defenatly inspired me.
These are tall, curvy, beautiful women who seem very comfortable with their shape. You see I believe that a picture is suposed to capture something, a moment in a person's life, something about a person that sometimes is not clear for all to see.
It's true that we can not presume to know much about a person just from looking at a picture, but I believe that this is what makes your pictures so beautiful and inspiring. You manage to capture something about the people that you photograph that is rare and unique.
Keep up the good work.
Marcela
I thinnk this is a great shot. the boids in the background really work. She looks great. All black always works (even if it ain't that original) . Great work

Simply stunning, beautiful
i like the gloves and shoes. all looks nice!
pigeons make this photo extraordinary :)
http://www.mybabymydarlig.blogspot.com/
Great way to show off those legs and not do it in an obvious, boring way.
This is a fantastic picture.
The birds make me die.
This image is impeccable in every way
a very wonderful capture like a paint
Glad that a friend recommended your blog.
I can't take my eyes off of those fabulous ankle boots....
If you block out the girl and just leave a smidge of black clad elbow the photograph takes on a wonderfully sinister quality - the bird exterminator! Boots are too remedial for my liking!
she is awesome!

Beautiful black jacket and boots, especially when framed by those pigeons!

oh sweet dear Acne, lovely, makes one proud of being swedish! Thanks for a great blog!
I am so grateful that you have posted Angelika and Eveline, not because I feel a need for my body type to be represented, but because this heavy shoe strategy is brilliant! I have one pair of heavy boots with a chunky heel that really flatter my figure, but I honestly did not know what about them flattered my figure until you posted these lovely women. thanks Scott!
wow! it really made my rainy day!
This is a great photo, and so were the ones from yesterday. My problem is that you found the need to say anything about their size at all. You say you want to talk about the issue, but we don't seem to talk about the typically very thin women you post as an "issue." These women are different sizes. They still look amazing. What is the issue here?
My Oh My, a gorgeous look and the all black is Nice. Great photo and the birds flying in the background is Perfect!
she looks gorgerous.

comfy shoes - and cute - great picture, love the bird action.
beautiful shot and the lady is luking so elegant in all black!!!
Lovely girl but SO sick of those Acne wedges!!! Maybe it's because I live in Sweden where EVERYONE sports these ankle wedges or the Atacoma ones... Come on guys it's sping (almost) give your feet some fresh air instead!
gorgeous shot.
Very beautiful. Note those gloves with that coat...the excellent boots....She and her ensemble are perfection.
she really looks like a minimalist dominatix. i love the idea of creating a character with your clothes while still looking current and sophisticated.
i love birds being in the background
that's why i take others' photos to wait that right moment when the birds fly to click on! :)
perfect photo

I love the way she lightens up her sophisticated all-black look with a bright pop of lipstick. Her expression makes her all the more interesting. The way you framed her against the backdrop of birds taking flight makes the shot all that more magical. This image really speaks for itself: great style, great girl, great shot.
killer legs! mixed with the heavy, dark outfit, it's genius. and of course the birds are awesome
such beautiful light + shadow - the photo + her outfit!
Great shot!

http://plum-bucket.blogspot.com
I totally agree with you, eyah1117.
It is so great that you post some photos of different body shapes, as it sometimes is difficult for the more "curvy" girls (as myself) to find flattering clothes and styles for a more curvy body. The two photos was a great inspiration of how to dress!
Love your photos!
-H. from Norway
Let the haters hate. Your blog is terrific. Call the women what you want: curvy, normal, anorexic, transparent, sexy, etc., but people need to realize that anyone can be fashionable and that everyone has some sense of style.
Beautiful girl and photograph!
This is adorable! I love short sleeve on the jacket paired with the gloves. And the wedge boots!
This picture is perhaps one your tops. The light, the woman, the birds, the light catching the birds. Unbelievable.
This photo "had me" until I saw the shoes. Just not diggin'em.
As someone "blessed" with a pear shaped body, I had written off chunky shoes, skinny jeans and in general, anything that clings to the legs...but these pictures are really making me re-think those principles. I don't know though, I am also short, and it would seem that long legs would need to be part of the equation for all the shapes to work together. Still tinkering... And for that, I thank you. These have done more than what Vogue US tried to do with their "shape" issue to address dressing those who are not short and model skinny or really tall and model skinny (which unfortunately seems to be their definition of "shape").
The body shape language has gone wonkers as your 1,000+ comments have shown. I don't know, I've never considered "curvy" to be a bad word, but rather incredibly complimentary and flattering because as you noted, it's not an indication of weight, but a description of a shape, and I don't know, who wouldn't want to be described as curvy?
Love your work.
Pam
why are we praising you so much for posting marginally curvier women? a wide range of body types should be the norm! slightly curvy women are a minimal venture into body shape equality!
Oh my god!!!! *.* This outfit is fantastic! the coat is beautiful, like something out of an art film!
GREAT look! The proportions here are perfect, and the boots are just right with her fabulously strong, athletic legs. I love the way the "lady-like" sleeve & glove combo play off her rocker boots and general strength & confidence. And her posture is sublime.
This photo is mind-blowing. You got all the element together for your decisive moment image!
A wonderful image. Loving the juxtaposition of the opera length gloves and strong shoe with the bare leg.

Gorgeous! XOXO, www.NatalyasCloset.com
Love the coat! You can never go wrong with black; always classy and never out of style.
I love this photo, not for just the fashion...but because her name is spelled the same as my mother's...a woman who also had great style. And of course, it is in my favorite city!! Thank you!
Love her legs.
Someone said Rick Owens wedges... Surely, they are Acne wedges no? If not, then Acne have COMPLETELY ripped off Rick Owens because they have the exact same pair!
wow really powerful picture, makes pigeons actually look like nice birds too haha ..Oscar
Now...that is a wonderful method of approaching the "Curvy girl" issue. Forget the birds, you captured the light on her legs to full advantage. (no pun intended)
This is a really inspiring picture for me.
Beautiful shoes!
Kisses,
V.

i feel the need to point out that i think most of us arent hating, and that it's because we love your work that we care and feel the need to respond where we feel it is necessary!
The current platform/wedgie shoes seem very popular with your photographic subjects.
I question whether women who work for a living (in something other than fashion) would wear them.
They also seem so common (at least in your photos) that they must be close to passe by now.
awesome shoes!

Looks like yesterday's dispute on the word "curvy" inspired you for today's picture! I love the effect created by the birds flying around her but yet without even bothering her. It's like she's saying I'm in control here! Love it!
The shoes and the trench are amazing! She would definitely stand out from a regular all-black crowd.
http://fashionthroughtravel.blogspot.com/
I wish we could 'like' comments on blogs. A timeless image.
A great look, elegant and strong at the same time, provocative without being gaudy or trashy. She looks wonderful!
I love the zipper shape on the trench, the different textures she plays with and the bare legs. And her posture is amazing. She looks like an Amazon to me. There are certain women, usually curvy, tall and very sure of themselves that I think of as Amazons, my friend Martha being one of them. No matter what she says, people listen.
Love her style. But love the birds in the background the most. Great shot!
beautifully sturdy legs. her shoes act as a strong foundation for her look.
Great looking girl,
great style,
awesome city ofcourse,
even the birds play their part.

Nice pic with the birds background.
Nice shoes :)
Beautiful shot. Again though, this woman is hardly "sturdy" and she's barely even curvy. She certainly isn't in need of any type of shoe to "balance her figure out". Scott, have you heard of the singer Beth Ditto? I think that would be a better definition of a sturdy, curvy woman. She's wildly stylish too. I wish you'd feature women like this on your site too: http://danashollywood.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/beth-ditto.jpg

Evelina was one of my greatest friends during Paris fashion week, she is so nice and has a great style! I took pictures of her everyday! I was so glad to meet her she is an incredible person, we always spent all days together! So this shot to me is incredible, because it represents beauty, with that stunning background with birds flying!
Amazing picture for amazing person! you are so talented scoot!

This is Tippi Hedren in Hitchcock's The Birds, meets goth, meets high fashion. Glorious backdrop of otherwise icky birds :)
Love the bird shot. Wonderful work. Kudos!
Eveline has a very distinct look and I have to congratulate you for always posting people from all races, sizes and backgrounds in your blog. You are an inspiration to us all.
Sturdy legs and chunky boots !
Perfect shoes...
That lovely soft line, gently accentuating the point where the trench coat opens is a very subtle punctuation for a coat that thrives on minimalism. Great boots for her and her coat.
Thank you for your site. I have never commented before, but I want to tell you I really appreciate your observant eye on the street. So many great people with a wonderful sense of the visual.
Va-va-voom!
She's definitely rocking this look. The boots complete her legs and the mid-length sleeves combined with the gloves give her a very dramatic look. The severe hair and the birds just add the final touch that makes you say : "I want to kick ass like her!"
So me! (In my next life...can't wait!)
she looks like a Russian "French girl". Very nice :))

Love this photo... and love your blog! I save my favorite photos from your site as inspiration for not only fashion, but color, composition, and design. Will you ever visit San Francisco? We would love to have you capture some of the beautiful people this side of the globe.
Great shot as usual, love the contrast between whitish legs and the black. Chunky shoes seem to be in big time. We are just approaching the winter months here so will be interesting to see if the chunky shoes make a hit in S.A this season.
Such a gorgeous outfit, love her style!

Sart, you said that:
"Tomorrow I'll post an image of a different young lady I met in Paris with a similarly curvy body type but a different method of creating body harmony."
That was before everyone worked themselves over a needless tizzy over "curvy" and "sturdy".
I wrote in as one of the many to say that I still wasn't offended after re-reading your post close to 10 times; Angelika herself said that she was fine with your description of her. On her blog.
Now, with that out of the way - how does this lady create body harmony in her own way? Your comments please, Sart. For those of us who are not prone to hysterics......
This might possibly be one of the most amazing photos you've ever taken. It almost doesn't even look real with the birds behind her. My first thought was the movie "Inception."

The birds! That jacket! Those gloves! That fantastic look on her face. I love everything about this picture and that beautiful woman!
Another gorgeous picture of a gorgeous woman with gorgeous legs . .
I just love these rap around shoes, but I don´t know wich brand they are, can anybody hepl me with this? mercedes-artenciel.blogspot.com
For both this picture and the two previous shots of a pretty blogger with a similar figure: the super chunky shoes make sense for me, visually, in a way that they just don't on super thin women. I see a harmony here, but on thin legs those same shoes can look more like cloven hooves and distract. Now I might try a wedge or very chunky heel, love the proportion.
As the owner of "sturdy" legs, I feel I have to thank you. My legs have caused me a lot of pain, can you believe it? Try growing up in a country where muscular women are nowhere to be seen. But, hey, I look like this woman! Good posture, a fierce look, sharp cheekbones and yes, those sturdy legs.
Phenomenal capture. The strength of the black framed by the lightness with the doves flying. She's perfect and not too overdone.
She is utterly beautiful.
And a backpacker is a backpacker everywhere!
wow. whatta stunner.
I do not, and will never, think it's "hysterical" or "over/hyper-sensitive" to take issue with a fashion blog using language that is symptomatic of a culture that glorifies one specific body type to the specific and intentional detriment of the rest.
That being said, thanks for taking our comments into consideration before posting. Beautiful photo.
Now that is my idea of a perfect photo!
The lengths we go to to be taller. It's true, taller feels good, powerful, but these boots call up images of Frankenstein.
