Radiant Moments: Snapshots Cast Their Spell
I'd like to send a very big and public thank you to my gallerist, James Danziger of Danziger Projects, for recently selling several of my images to the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and to the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography. James has been one of my biggest supports from the very beginning. His faith in my work is quite humbling.
Actually, if you happen to be in Tokyo next week you can see my work in an exhibit called "Radiant Moments: Snapshots Cast Their Spell. " I'm so proud to have my images hanging with photographers like Walker Evans and Paul Fusco.
Radiant Moments: Snapshots Cast Their Spell
Dates: from Dec.11, 2010 through Feb.6, 2011
Venue: Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography
P.S. James also has a great blog, The Year in Pictures. I've learned so much about the art of photography reading his blog for the past two years.

Dear Scott -
Congrats on your work being acquired by two major art institutions.
Your sensitive eye for color, texture, mood and composition truly make you an artist by any definition.
Every single one of your photographs - and this became apparent while devouring your book last weekend- have a consistent, completely unique aesthetic, that is at once formal, yet simultaneously full of sensuality, emotion and spontaneity.
There is also a connecting thread of joy - no matter if a subject is subdued, or laughing out loud - that is persuasive and infectious in every image.
The joy that is conveyed is so palatable to the observer – your joy in your subjects and your moment of discovery.
Your photographs also educate the eye of the observer in so many contexts – causing one to pause and look deeply, (if that makes sense).
It is exiting to watch your talent develop and deepen with each passing year.
Thank you for sharing your work, your talent, in such a accessible and wide open format.
Your photographs have become a nourishing part of my daily routine.
Please continue to illuminate and enthrall us, your devoted audience.
So happy for you!! Congratulations.
Congratulations, I think I´m not the only one who thinks you deserver this and much more.
Congratulations! Your work is lovely; it's wonderful that it's being recognized everywhere.
That is awesome, Scott! Congratulations! We hope that there will be more opportunities such as these for your work and let those who have not come across your blog enjoy your work as well.
Dear Scott,
this is amazing! I am so happy for you and thankful for your pioneer work for all street style photographers!
Love,
Marika

congratulations and you deserve this!! wish i can be in tokyo, ill tell my friends though!
You definitely deserved it!
One of my favorite parts of working in a fine art gallery was the sheer joy in the face of the artist seeing his/her work on display....congrats, sir....well earned.
congratulations on your amazing talents being recognised and honoured.
Congratulations! This is so wonderful.
Congratulations! I appreciate the unique perspective you share with us about ourselves. Keep inspiring us.
Capturing the moment with just the right light, and just the right expression, so that you can transport us there to look over your shoulder, too see it as you saw it...gallery worthy! Congratulations!
You very much deserve this, congratulations!
You deserve it all!
Complimenti!
I am so happy for you!

Congratulations Mr Schuman! So utterly deserved. Your blog is a real joy not only for the quality of photos but the underlying philosophy.
Achievement. Nice one x
I've been to the exhibition last week, and was quite amazed finding your work among those of the likes of Cartier-Bresson and Walker Evans, and at how they fit in and work in the context. It's about the way one sees a moment of revelation and captures it, to share with others - the "perfection" level of the object is not necessarily important.
By the way, "RFK Funeral Train" series by Paul Fusco, from which you posted the other picture, was awesome, to sense that quiet dignity that had for a brief moment unified people. Thanks for sharing it!
Woah, thanks for the link of the blog, Scott.
It might be the best blog I've seen in months. And this is coming from the biggest Photography addict visitor of The Sartorialist website..
Congratulations, that's just fantastic! I am glad for you.
Great news. Congratulations. Keep the excellent work.
Maria

Congratulations. I'd love to see this at the MFA in Boston. They've got a new wing and there was much interest in the recent Avedon exhibit, as there is with pretty much anything related to fashion. Going over the the MFA site now to give this a plug.
Wow -- that is fabulous and clearly deserved!
Way to go Scott. Your pictures are beautiful and they carry such feeling. You capture so much more than fashion, detailing the world to those of us lucky enough to follow you on your travels.
Enjoy your success! You deserve it.
Be well,
Patrick
Congratulations on the exibit!!! I believe they are truly amazing!!

Congrat!
Thanks for your work!
Congrats!
Give James a ring and tell him to blog more! I love his blog too but he totally fell off the wagon of posting regularly.
Ha, of course I submit that last comment and then see three new posts on James' blog as I continue working through a week's backlog in my RSS reader. So, nevermind that!
Dear Scott,
Let me add my voice to your fan club. Your photographs with their depth and sensitivity deserve to hang in those museums. It is so refreshing to see style shot in such an organic manner across ages. Your photographs not only bring the person to life, but somehow manage to capture their essence with dignity and grace.
Congratulations as you continue to weave your magic spell of beauty to every day life.
