Love the combination of dark tones and the long (shirt) on long (skirt)... way to play skillfully with clothing. Also love how she didn't loose herself or her shape in the clothing.. that is a real challenge for me!

The little details of her 'mannières' make this shot so romantic.

Thanks Sart for this dreamy shot

love that flowy skirt .. so feminine. its wonderful!

so funny, on the weekend when i was in NYC i went to the presentation for the Bespoken label (menswear) ... As the taxi pulled up outside the Chelsea Piers and I went to open the door, I started squealing with delight. Outside, having a cigarette, was a man. The funniest thing is I dont know who that man was! But i instantly recognised him from your blog. He was wearing these amazing red trousers and a navy jacket. I have seen him so many times in your book and it was surreal to bump into him in real life. Mind you, I still dont know who he is but it absolutely made my day! :)

Nothing is more American than walking the street with half a liter of coffee in a styrofoam cup with your name on it.

I've never seen anyone do it so gracefully! Her gaze to the right, the skirt blown to the left, the blanket on her bag are in perfect balance.

One of the best shots I've seen here.

Anonymous sanmiguelense said ... (6:32 PM) :

I don't think that you have to be tall to wear a long skirt! You have to be slim and the skirt has to be narrow. The flouncy peasanty skirts of yore, make everyone, no matter how svelt, look a little wide and gypsy-mama-ish. Long, narrow skirts look so fab and Edwardian, like Downton Abbey. A much better look than Little House on The Prarie or Little Yurt in Vermont.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:12 AM) :

This photo is perfection:
1. Interesting pose with the turn of her body, you wonder what she heard or is looking for
2. Beautiful drape and movement of skirt, flowing in the air
3. Enigmatic expresson on her face with beautiful morning side lighting
4. Background going to vanishing point on horizon to lower left of image, giving this picture a wonderful movement and visual interest

5. Background characters which also seem to be captured at just the perfect moment
6. The whole movement sweeping down and to left, with the exception of that fantastically placed plaid blanket or scarf
7. The jewelry, the fur, the clutch held close... it is breathtaking
8. The pleats in the skirt, the complete outfit is amazing
9. The overall composition of heavy and light, dark and bright, angular and soft... all so beautiful

This is the kind of photo I wish I could see as a painting, it is not only a visual feast but esquisitely beautiful.

Congratulations on capturing lightning in a bottle on this photo.

Wow. Who IS she? How great to have the sort of life that gives the reason and the means to dress so beautifully. The outfit itself levitates me; with the bag it sends me into the stratosphere. Really powerful photograph.

I love the way her foot is turned....the gray nail polish...Starbucks cup.....

What is the plaid thing on her hip??

Is she real just off the street? I'm guessing she's tall to get away with that long skirt...Hmmmmm?

I had a grey pleated skirt like this but finally had a dressmaker hem it to about mid calf.

I found it extremely difficult to walk in; kept tripping over myself as yards of fabric got trapped in between my legs.

I have a couple of pleated skirts. Have always loved them and am glad to see they are making a comeback. Will delve into the back of my closet.

It feels like time stood still for this photo. The flowing skirt with the heeled boot peaking out is stunning. One of my favorite shots to date. :)

I love this look. She looks so comfortable. It's also the first time I've seen someone pull off this long pleated skirt look.

I just wish you had a close up; I want to see those accessories and her top.
