Steampunk meets Laura Ashley! I saw a very similar ensemble the other day, also on Lex. I wonder if it was the same woman? Ever since I wrote a piece on the New Victorian landscape designers for Garden Design http://bit.ly/hSFkkP , I've been noticing New Vickies everywhere I turn. Are the clothes repro or antique? If the latter, how are the women managing without corsets?
Very nice color palette and textures. The peplums is the essence after the layers, very well thought :)
Mr. Scott you have very good eyes on details!

omg LOVE IT!! so inspiring.
shoes! i love those shoes!
elite status.
Always love layers!!!!
LOVE THE SHOES
Fun look, and fun to wear, I bet.
I'm going to try this, with or without the bowling shoes. I'm thinking Frye harnesses, ankle-height.
The layering beneath her coat is very well done. Her socks and shoes finish off a very distinct look
LOVE! neutrals, layers, textures - perfection.
An upside down ice cream cone, yummmm
Why do the layers remind me of lettuce with a side of wrinkled tissue paper?
The pic itself great as always!

unexpected and lovely surprise!
Good for her, I love her!!! Viva Fashion!
That's awesome!! The proportions are so wrong they're just right.

Hello, gorgeous layers! What a great color palette too.
www.TheFancyTeacup.com
much love.
Where did she get those socks, or tights?
Modern day Frida Kahlo, no?
Yes!
I so often do this myself. I love a slim coat over a full and/or flared skirt and the petticoat effect it creates.
I love the Edwardian vibe it gives and she's so right to go with menswear style shoes here...anything girly and it's too, I don't know, literal.
I have all those components, but if I tried that, it wouldn't have worked.
WoOw!!
How cool is this?! :D
Love her style!

fabulous shoes!...anyone knows where they are from please? great outfit
Quite a lot of layers, still that cold in NY?
fantastic! I'm really over everyone looking so polished. Bring on the eclectic grandma looks! (or grandpa dressed as grandma if you take into account comme des garcon's aw11 menswear which was brill). I love the weird way my grandma dresses.
xx
winnsome
Makes me think of Tiramisu and Victorian urchins - a most unusual combination!
This picture makes me want to know where she is going.
haha, imposible to be cooler!! b
We had a costume sale here in Stratford Upon Avon at the Royal Shakespeare Company (my employer) last week with people queueing from midnight. If this post had been up before then there would be loads of people rocking this look all over Warwickshire!

After a phonecall from her landlord, she lept from her Oliver Twist rehearsal and ran off hoping that no one would take a shot at her horrid shoes ...but someone did...

So lovely! Would love to see a whole shot of the outfit from a distance, also. Love the subdued colors; gray and brown are my favorite neutral color mix.

Is is possible to see this woman completely?
poetry in motion.
Bespeaks a gentler time of dirt and character and poetry. The shoes provide the paradox that give the look intelligence rather than becoming too twee.
Thanks again sartorialist. Wonderful shot!
Any clues on what the shoes are? Dying to own them.
That's my daughter. Always trendy!
those shoes are awesome, a lot of ruffles going on, I like it.
soft petals flowing from the roughness of winter wool; you definitely have an eye for the unique, congrats!
all is full of fun
This is awesome!
