Love her shoes
chic and gorgeous! this is how you get through cold winters and still look fantastic
What a great shot! I love the contrast of textures and colors in her outfit, and she is so beautiful. The background is beautifully detailed as well.

Elegant and quirky. She's beautiful.
Love it, so stylish, vintage reigns supreme with a little nod to the tartan trend
classy lady!
I love this look! Very vintage; a total throwback with a modern feel. Love it!
She's so beautiful-and modern and retro at the same time.
Great outfit, but I'd probably kill myself in such shoes ;) It's obvious that she thought of every detail of her look which in whole makes it so outstanding.
I adore this. ADORE. I need to head over to the east side and make this woman my new best friend. It's almost too much! She's perfect!
Best,
Mariah
This looks like a movie still from the 1940's.
Amazing!
very Billie Holiday.
Love the fur combined with that pattern!!!!

Somehow another era and somehow right now. Striking.
wow, it's good to know there's class out there.
She looks amazing. Vintage and modern at the same time.
Fantastic!!!!! <3

I love her red,lips and one-peace.
Fabulous!

Oh, what a fun juxtaposition to yesterday's shot on West 14th. I love her timelessly ladylike accessories and her "done-ness". Both women have incredible personal style, going in totally different directions, which just goes to show the power of fashion in the expression of individualism.
What a darling girl in a darling hat. She looks old-fashioned, yet that dress is completely current.
wowza! she has got it going on! love the magenta lipstick.
she looks amazing. i love that dress with that fur coat . great look

wowza! she has got it going on! love the magenta lipstick.
It's both at the same time great outfit and background, must be nice to be 'there' at the right moment and lieu to shoot this. I want your job!
Pure beauty - elegant

hmmm...verrrry rrrretro (minus the horrible shoes)
She's the star of her own movie that I want to see.
http://www.theclothesstory.blogspot.com
I love everything about this photograph! The tartan dress, the ewok-like fur coat, the delicate little (floral bag), the hat...looks like this make the chilly days a bit more bearable, as I am eagerly anticipating spring!
Great outfit!!!

this woman is fierce. i dig it.

I totally adore the atmosphere of the photograph : the meaning is no matter the style you have, just trust YOURSELF. Good Job!

Gorgeous. Looks like a photo straight from the 20's/30's.
www.fashionablecollections.blogspot.com
I love the picture, the slightly lower field of vision captures the building behind the girl and elevates the frame.
I dig this look. The whole 'vintage' thing works well.
ultra glam. i am a fan. i love it.

I saw her at NYFW on Monday. She looked terrific then too. Great outfit she's got going on here.
LOVE this! so much personality with the cherry on top of the cake being the fantastic hat.
This shot is representing some of the major trends for the next fall - lots of fur, checks, retro feeling, daring and bold combinations. Great one.
Very nice, chic
makes me think of 1930's Harlem for some reason.
http://just-travelin-through.blogspot.com/
I love the dress with the skirt with the hat. It's as if she's going to her cabin upstate :)
MARVELLOUS ! She's beautiful and that look is simply marvellous <3
She is gorgeous!
xoxo

Nice hat!
ooh papa!
This is my favorite photograph from you, to date. Even beats out the images in your book; this girl is fab, her skin is perfection, and those clothes... almost too much to handle! Amazing!
WOW. Stunning!
So classy. Love it.
Great look, very chic
She is sooooo chic. Incredible. I love everything about her outfit, from the hat to the shoes. If I could, I would want to hire her as my stylist.
Love the vintage feel of this. She is stunning!
love the fur coat!

Sart reference on Glee last night!
Ha!
Just superb.
My favorite styles are those created by the people who wear them. I prefer a style to this as opposed to someone looking like they stepped out of a fashion magazine with all new items. She is beautiful and chic. Love this.
Where is she from???? Pretty, pretty!
She's not only a very chic outfit but I LOVE her PERSONALITY. She knows how to EMBRACE HER STYLE.
Not everyone does it that well.
Have a Great Day!

Her coat is so pretty!
xoxo Sootjeelina <3
I love the look. The whole feel of the photograph is fab-you could hang it on the wall. I would love to get my hands on a purse like that -so retro but I could fit my laptop in it!
She is cute
No way. That is just beyond fabulous!!
fantastic coat.
she's such a beauty too
http://vindavindasonata.blogspot.com/
Love this! I dream of leaving the house like this every day, if only I didn't have to work in an office. Great weekend inspiration, though!
Man. Red plaid is everywhere right now.
I saw her yesterday on East 23rd during my lunch break (5 Dollar Foot long). Stunning! Funny I thought about The Sartorialist as I eyed her attire.
Love the pictures, do you ask the people you take pictures permission?
Aahh, she's channeling all the runway fur. Though generally not a fur fanatic... She's looking fantastic.
she looks straight out of a marc jacbos runway show.
Everything about this is perfect. She is gorgeous!
Love the fact that you were mentioned on "Glee" last night!!
Elegant lady.
i'm in love.
this is one of the most amazing pictures I have ever seen, not only for what she is wearing, but for the photography. I love how she completely stands out from the flats behind her. AMAZING!!!
Wow...Love her expression and her style!
The proportions are perfection. Love the strong shoulders working with the height of her shoes.
beyond stylish. WOW!
nice plaid dress!
pretty hat!
Sometimes a picture is just so right... thank you so much!
whoaaw! lovely lady in OLD NEW york.
WOW!

She looks fabulous.
I like her facial expression.

guapissima!

http://fashiondoseblog.blogspot.com/
I dearly hope that isn't real fur. Please Sartorialist don't encourage people to wear fur. There are so many fake alternatives to choose from it's just not necessary for animals to suffer for someone to look good. Use your super powers for good things not bad.
wow. perfect.
phenomenal.
Whoohoo!
WOW - stunning. My fav pic of yours lately!!
i absolutely loooove it! the hat, the dress, the contrast, the attitude, she's sassy ;)
G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S!
Oh she is So pretty !!
Love that coat!
http://kimchicsisters.blogspot.com/2011/02/chic-chairs.html
So classic.
her skin looks gorgeous with that plaid red.amazing
LOVE!
I love the boldness of the red contrasted against the other dark and muted colors of her clothing. Fabulous!
With her hat, she looks like vaguely like she walked out of those vintage photos you bought at the area flea market recently, Sartorialist.
brilliant colour palette

Tres jolie!
Looks like a "vintage" photograph
shes got amazing style!
http://lavie-amonavis.blogspot.com
don t love her dress but coat and shoes unreal!.))*
She is perfect and the shot is great! I'll have to post this snap on my blog, right now!
I love this she totally reminds me of a girl during the prohibition era. Especially with that hat, which I give her props for because not everyone can pull off those hats.
WOW! This is amazing, she looks like she's from a different time.
Love the classy/quirky/vintage-y vibe. I also adore the confidence.
So pretty, I love the red, the fur and the hat.
She looks stuning! Very inspirational.
Thank you for sharing. Bisou Anna

heck yes.
She's like an oxymoron. Modern and Retro. Love the hat! :)

zora neale hurston 21st century! she is perfect !
Love the plaid! How it is that spring is just arriving, and I'm already craving fall?
http://thebohemienne.wordpress.com/
Naomi dressed around the hat and handbag - they were the first choices she made when choosing the outfit for her lunch with the girls. The fur, the dress and the tights and shoes - all great - but it was the hat and the handbag that really made her smile.
And she knew her friends would feel the same.
http://violetsdayblog.blogspot.com
Wonderful and unexpected, especially the hat and bag, which reminds me of my mother, somehow. Which is completely a compliment.
Right from the 40's! Lovely soul...
Is it just me, or dose this girl look like she's going to a 1940's custom party. It perfectly fine to incorporate vintage items into your everyday attire, but seriously its 2011 people.
She looks amazing. love everything about the outfit
xoxo Monroe
Fashion Steele NYC
wow. This for me shows how vintage can be lived in, not just created for effect. How it was worn back then, stunning. x
I love the classic plaid, and fur together.
My Heart Blogged
it's nice to know that someone has the strength in 2011 to wear what looks good on her, even if it is, from another era.
Amazing. From her dress to her bag to the look on her face.
Great combination of prints and textiles. She demonstrates creativity and uniqueness while still looking classic.
well done, though the look (i.e. these combinations) is just not for anybody ...
OMG, she is coming from another time. She is so cute
Very James Van der Zee. She's stunning but that background is taking me to another place in time.
Jazz.
She's Stunning!Love her hat!
Wow. This is really beautiful. Probably my favorite yet. I feel like I'm in another time-a really cool time.
So elegant and stylish and I love the look on her face. Gorgeous!
Reminds me of a painting by Reginald March called High Yaller.
She looks so wonderful! It's like she stepped out of a photo of 1930s/40s NYC. Gorgeous, simply gorgeous!
Perfect. This is what self expression is all about. Mix it, match it, but more than anything play, play, play with it. Elegant and completely individual. Love it and great shot too of course, great setting and light. x
Well, yes and no. I like how her proportions are so exaggerated that she almost looks like a fashion illustration; tiny head, super long limbs and a big puff of a jacket. The wild color mix is great too. The jacket fur just isn't my favorite.
Love, love, LOVE everything about this. You keep getting better and better...it still amazes me :-)
one of my favorite shots in a while! beautiful
fashiontypology.blogspot.com
I love this retro look :)
La Petite Marmoset
Very nice. I love her hat.
Never thought I'd use the phrase "jazz lumberjack goddess," but... there she is.*
(*Wearing what is, I hope, a seriously vintage or faux fur. Real goddesses are kind to animals.)
Wow I love this - I don't think many people could get away with that here in NZ! I also have a Fashion blog, called LoveFashion - http://jessicaanderton1.blogspot.com/
Just PERFECT
j'aime
I'm pretending her fur coat is faux, because I love this look so much
Love her coat!
http://theythinkimtooyoung.blogspot.com/
great, love her dress and hat, the fur is beautiful but it's a shame.
Doesn't matter that it's 2011... very beautiful & quite stylish. Love the look. Wished that we saw more women dress rather than view a "sea of jeans" everyday. Love it.
me encanta mucho!!! i love it!!
Fabulous nod to Harlem High Society by a stunning young woman.
Love her attitude :)
Dear Sartorialist, I know you don't publish anti fur comments often, but I see you did publish the comment of one other reader and let me add my voice to that. It's sad to see that fur is becoming acceptable again through the influence of a few celebrities and perhaps some blogs.
I will always be deeply envious of women who can put together a look like this and make it work! I'd look like such an idiot in that... kudos to her. Wow.
(Ditto, Alex.)
Spectacular! Thanks for capturing this!
I'm not sure, something is not clicking, maybe too vintage?
I even dont know. what I like more-- the style or the photo-colours/ this contrast between cold navy and revolution-red/
I LOVE her style ! X
Beautiful!!
LOVELY!!!
This is so beautiful. The buildings are perfect with her coat and the contrast of that dress. But, you already knew all of that!
She looks adorable. But, she would probably look great in anything.
lovely and "right on time".
this is how it should be done (and yes, i am taking notes)
*sP
1930's Harlem classic class.
Jdore'......Harlem Chic !!!!!!!!
Girl you be killin 'em!
WOW. esp love the building in the background, so nyc.
WOW!
So decadent, so chic, so retro but still so modern (I thinks its the shoes that add the latter).
Do you sometimes fall over backwards when encountering such a beautiful look?
Must feel great to be at the right place at the right time with a camera!
This is what i come to your blog hoping to see - the unique and the sublime in street fashion. She is inspirational: I love the mix of old and new, and your framing is perfect.
Lovely look!Reminds the movie "The Secret life of Bees!". beijossss
Wow!Fabulous,im in love with the fur coat!
Avant garde! Stunning and really inventive
Wow ! just.... Wow !
Awesome shot! Classic, timeless.
I love that this look has elements of vintage with a modern flair. Beautiful.
Great shot bar the fur coat.
I can't admire them due to obvious reasons.
She's my hero
She looks like a chic working woman from the early 40's or so. Way cool.
Stunning shot and great look.
wow just a queen!
So old school with the hat. Such sophistication! And those shoes look killer from what I can tell!

http://thekrisbliss.blogspot.com
very parisian...i want to know this woman
Love the proportions!
Gorgeous textures combined with interesting patterns and shapes. Beautiful!
Vintage - just think it the photo was in sepia or black and white?! Great shoes - girl can wear 'em, though!
goregous colors!!
She really has that look of having stepped right out of the 1950's. Her face has the look, the hat, fur and handbag complete the look. Of course, in the '50's her dress would be a mini-print in a soft fabric with pearl buttons and the shoes would be different. But all in all - very vintage.
I should know..... I was there!
