Joli mix...masculin féminin ...J'adore !!
It's interesting to note that the women in the recent Italian photos are wearing what look to me like older Men's Florshiem-like lace-up shoes. I suspect this will hit the US sometime in the Spring.
I am loving the distressed boots with the outfit.
Love the hat and the smile!!!
And the little bracelets around her arm!
http://tarasdolcevita.blogspot.com/
I need a hat just like hers!!!

wonderful outfit!
From the fedora to her shoes she does show true grit. She obviously put some thought into what she was wearing, the guy she's with, not so much.
absolutely love the outfit
Perfect shot!

Trop joli ce look ! Et probablement super confortable !
I love this!
I love this! Want to see more!!!
Am loving that backdoor action in the boots -- very masculine yet coquettish at the same time.
Great stolen shoot!

iphone 4 edition
Love the beautiful muted colors, the airiness of the skirt and shirt anchored by the great boots and the hat.
Inspiring...
Lovely;) Love those boots and how she has tied them;)
her smile is reminiscent of Chelsea Clinton.
is the menswear trend a backlash against the excess of the past few years?
in a flash, gone are the platforms, minis and status handbags.
it's an interesting direction for fashion to take.
this time around the shift wasn't as subtle or gradual.
That surely is a jaunty angle to her hat! Good attitude!
Love her energy!
Mmmm, can't wait 'til my hair is long enough to braid again :)
Love that skirt length!
This probably sounds like a stupid question for all you fashion experts who read this blog, but what kind of a hat is she wearing, i.e. what would it be called?
I've been looking for boots like that for years--I wish I knew where to find some.
she looks amazing!!
Love the hat & braided hair! Just like the movie!
love this hat. but her smile and boots are the best accessory.
xoxo
Just perfect and I love the boots !!!
Amazing! Best post of the year!!!! Pure inspiration! I will try to pull this look off today!

This outfit has such a cool vibe. She seems so comfortable in it and so confident in herself. By the way she walks, she seems like she's havin' such a nice day. Beautiful smile!

I love a girl who can make flats look good. This is real! love it!
Love well worn boots. It just makes more sense than an unscuffed pair. Have recently been rocking outfits reminiscent of 'true grit' - it's a balance between stylish and costume-y.
How very cute and unusual she looks.
I have noticed a trend of flat comfortable (and v. nice) shoes on your blog recently. This means girls are walking again. It will also mean that shoe stores will take note and there might be more of these kind of shoes available. Here in Toronto, there is hardly any choice and I have longed for some of the shoes I have seen on the blog.
Her modern frontier with a masculine touch from behind, looks pretty stylish.
I wonder are they holding hands.

The Hat and the Boots Divine!
It was a gorgeous outfit, until I got down to the hem. Don't care for the short dark sock/clunky shoes look with that skirt length.
superb combination! specially hat & boots.
I love her smile!
Loje the outfit, especially her hair and the hat!
Best Women's fashion? Go to Pitti. No frills. But very clean, elegant attires.
I love the long skirt.
I absolutely love her smile (and her shoes)
Her smile is the best thing about the whole look!
I loved the hat. It looks like it is a Borsalino...
The smile...that fabulous braid! The back zipper on those boots... tremendous.
love the skirt with the ''ugly'' shoes. great contrast!
just the perfect moment
Love her smile!

FINALLY!! Real street fashion. No poses, no selling. Actual motion AND emotion! Beautiful, thank you.
The outfit was upgraded to wow level once she put on the hat and that smile. J'adore!
I adore the whole thing, she looks so casual so unpretentious totally natural and beautiful...you just would not see this kind of understated gorgeousness very often in the UK ! they are all togged out to the 9's and miss the point .
Lynn xx
Those boots are from ALBERTO FASCIANI.
I JUST saw the exact same boots in store in Japan, TODAY!!!
They usually cost like $1300 but now were $500.
should i buy??!!!!!!!!!!!!
Coincidence!!!

the fedora..the drindle skirt...perfection.
What a genuine smile! Her iPhone is the only thing that doesn't go with the outfit...
Love the fact that her boots look like they have actually been used. And she looks so carefree and confident/comfortable all around!

BEAUTIFUL pic... ;)
great look ;)
http://mademoiselleandcomag.wordpress.com/
the whole skirt with the boots combination simply leaves me breathless!!
A unique look. You don't really see the long skirts like this, but I love the hat, tucked in shirt and boots with the skirt.
great shoes, she can really carry those off. Very natural smile...
<3 the shoes!
I'm so glad to see you feature women embracing solid footing and rejecting those precariously short frocks that needed constant tugging and tending. I loved this look in the 80s--low boots, slouchy socks (remember EG Smiths anyone?) and a shin-lenght pencil skirt. Love the updated look even more. She looks happy, comfortable, empowered and beautiful.
I love your blog!
This outfit is so easy and casual it is beautiful!
http://breadandbutterdesigns.blogspot.com/
Great shot!
Those boots appear similar to men's Dry-Shod boots: zip back, 'wear' appearance at back may be another colour leather (another Dry-Shod feature).
Super look
Love the hat with the braids!!!

love it! the classy colors, the boots..
I think this outfit suits the location perfectly; the roughness yet there is a sense of subtle feminity lurking beneath it. Adore the combination of the shoes and skirt,as someone already commented...as well as that fact that the ipone is a bit to modern tech for this outfit...Great Picture-love how you captured her in such a natural and pure light. Great skirt - swear it's from American Apparel? Her emotion is captured beautifully. Do you ask the people if you can take a photo and if so how do you get such natural photos?

Gorgeous: the dark + the thick blonde braid. Love the boots.

So perfect from head to toe...she can pull off the longer skirt-bare legs-clunky boots look because her legs and ankles are so thin. On someone more "in the flesh," it would look dowdy and heavy. Italian men's fashion week opens in Milan, tomorrow...are you coming?
That girl's outfit is totally killer. I want it.
bravo ! a look full of self confidence and a bit of humour. this is really a first class style. because it´s not (only) about fashion but about self expression and personality. please scott, give us more of this ! merci.
it looks very casual! loving the blog.
but I have a question: what means the name of the blog, TheSartorialist?
If you want us to look at the girl, you should focus on the girl, right? Hey, no need to post this comment! Just reporting a little camera abuse.
(Loved the video portrait of you, btw. Lovely editing.)
She's the only thing in Florence more classic than the Ponte Vecchio. Bravo!
www.jrocomedy.blogspot.com
Take note tutti!
Everyone LOVES this so much because you could wear this anywhere!!!! Florence, NYC, Mexico City, everywhere! Lunch, dinner, work. At any age!!!!!!!! And still be dressed for the moment.
lovely look, it's super freshing too even with those 'old war boots'
Wow !! Great look !! I like the colour of the shirt, and the shoes and, and ..... ! Italian style at his best !!
She kind of looks like Natasha Bedingfield. Love the outfit by the way.
She kinda looks like Natasha Bedingfield. Love the outfit by the way!
the boots totally complete this look! the length of the skirt if perfect!
What 82Brute said. :)
I also like skirts even longer than this one--for me, the ideal length would have the hem at the top of the boot--and in an ideal world, I'd declare a moratorium on people under the age of 60 wearing fedoras and homburgs. (Exceptions could be made for true retro devotees, like the cool barber with the excellent mustache.) They've been done to death, and in a case like this, a more rugged & ragged style is often a better choice.
Those shoes are to die for. And the braids! She looks so happy.

I love the way this picture isn't formal and so posy posy. It's like the camera has caught her the way she really is.

This is great! It all works so well together. Love the hat.
http://www.bonjourbellerue.blogspot.com
I like how her clothes don't suit the expression on her face. She's in black and grey, but she's got a big smile.
Amazing..her shoes are a most popular trend happening here in Brisbane / Gold Coast Australia, our fashion is close to being similer to Australian, I love the simple look, simple colours, simple outfit and simple hairstyle = amazing.
you can tell, she knows she's looking fabulous! :)
I love this look, the skirt length is great, I don't have to tug at the hem when I wear it. I love the floaty material, with the more rugged shirt. Bravo.
Ohh!! Wish I could pull off a look like that! Such a skirt with such boots...that's a brave move girl!
Ahhh I want those clothes!!! Especially the blouse. I find her hairstyle to be perfect for that outfit. Great style!
I wonder how she managed to go without a handbag?? Where are the keys... money... only the cellphone.
wow this is lovely. touch of a sicilian widow there with the skirt.
Great look!
Especially the hairstyle is beautiful!
Dear Sartorialist. While I find your charming photos of street style enthralling, I would love to have more of a commentary from you on the location, wardrobe, occupation of the model etc to be able to put the image into context. It all ads to the flavour of your blogging experience, which would take more time, but would be greatly appreciated. Kind regards and thanks. Curator.
Beautiful!
a title that suits the image. love it!
I love this outfit! The combination of the worn-in boots and flowy skirt is awesome.
http://watermelonfeet.blogspot.com
perfection!
So cool. I envy people who can pull off those hats!
great outfit and looks comfortable! the boots are adorable...look vintage to me.
love the skirt!!!
Is it cold in Florence or not?
All the other pics make me think so...
then I see this chick.
Either she is freezing for fashion
or everyone else is overdressed.
I love the look though...
Very downtown classy.
elle a l'air pétillante !

I love the lacy hem of her skirt. Combination rocks.
superbe
Absolutely great combination! I just want to look like this... Thanks so much for this inspiration!
She is so cute and pretty.I love her outfits.superb photo.
The girl on the picture looks like Diane Keaton in Woody Allen's "Annie Hall", who launched this kind of style. Absolutely perfect.
Relaxed and genuine I would say, I really like the shirt, nice texture...
What a beautiful style!
Love the shoes & hat!
She is adorable! I am loving those layered bracelets.
Take off the fedora, and this would be perfect.
Love the aesthetic of how the pauper shoes juxtaposes against a clean silhouette.
i agree with the person who said this looks like something from "annie hall".
the fabric of her shirt is just wonderful, and her boots are magnificent.
i love this. very "true grit"

Love her hat...sooo cool! I came across a hat shop while visiting Milan last weekend and it was amazing, I couldn't stop staring...so many colours and shapes, it was amazing! The hats were called "Borsalino".

Everything works sooo perfectly, easy to wear every day!!!
Love the hat...the boots...the charming smile...
Cute!
Love this! The hat really makes the whole outfit. And by the way, I loved the new "True Grit" and everything that spunky girl wore.
Fascinante!
Andrea Amoretti Style
i love her style...
Love the skirt and shirt. Hate the boots. The boots need to be more substantial, IMO. These are just too thin and delicate.
Loved the movie! Love this look! Love your eye!
www.justanotherwaitress.com
really love this outfit
our words will never live up to the greatness of fashion, so let us all make our own FASHION statements! haha. but yes, in all seriousness.
(:
and this blog is just great, through these pictures i realized that fashion is so interesting, diverse, prejudice free, and just plain free. it is rarely taken away, but with its subtleties and sometimes blaring statements, fashion is truly glorious in itself.
hmm... how random was that?!
I LOVE this look!!!! And the movie :)
OH a midi! With a shirt with socks and boots...taking notes here!
Love this. Beautiful girl and outfit. I bought the same hat in Florence.
