I enjoy all of your posts, but showing smoking people in the pics is ( IMHO ) unnecessary and against a universal trend.
Now that's style. Of course in Kangnam!

jung nam! wow!!
This is a very different style from what you would normally see in Korean streets. Not a lot of people where outfits like this and I'm glad that you captured it.
You see a lot of people in Korean movies that dress like this but I think it's the Japanese influence.
From all the times I've been in Korea, I think I've never seen anyone dress like this or have I ever imagined.
thank you for the capture!
Nice outfit but hideous socks. And the pattern on his shoes!
Just brilliant!
OMG. love it!

Love the manhole cover (and the shot).
he is top model in Korea ! :)
fascinating trousers, love it
nice
I imagine this guy wandering the streets of Rome or Milan, not Seoul...very nice look though!
weird outfit but looks so elegant on him. nice shot
Overall, I love his color matching with tone variation of NAVY. His coat, jacket and pants looks so neatly and consistently arraged, but he also keeps uniqueness by details like the patterned scarf, the hat with wide visor and fur on the coat. What I admire most in his look is his pants wich has belt loops like a normal slacks but is banded like a training. It is interesting... I think I would buy a pants like that if I can find!
I am Korean and have been looking forward to your photos from Seoul. I am loving your first photo up.
Be sure to check out Leeum Art Museum and Seoul N Tower if you have free time. It's a nice escape and you can see the Seoul skyline from above.
And in Apkujeong, Cafe Papergarden has a nice ambience. Garosoogil has plenty of cafes (and beautiful people) as well.
Good day!
I remember living in South Korea as a child (military parents) back in 92. The Korean girls walked around with the smallest backpacks that could have been the size of purses. We thought it was hilarious, but 3 years later, back in the states, those little backpack purses became all the rage. This photo is amazing because it brings back those memories. His style is nothing new to him, but it brings a sense of freshness to all of us. Thanks for this!!!
This man definitely has a "swagger" about him! Great attitude!
It's interesting how he's partly wearing women's items and yet it's still a very masculine look.
And the fur collar looks great - not many men seem to go for fur, but I think it looks really classy.
www.gingerfashionmonsters.blogspot.com
His nickname is 강냉이(corntooth) in Korea. Because he was in a fight in the club and his tooth fell out like corn. 강냉이 on the Sartorialist!
great stye for first photo!! you taking photos here in korea makes me extremely thrilled.. like i don't even know how to put into words..
A very retro shot of Bae jung-nam (a semi-famous model known for his 170cm height) plz lose the ciggie. We arent really in the 70's, still..
Looking forward to seeing more of 'real' Seoul cf celebs from u!! :)
Whoa!!!!
The project you mentioned, was it with him? He's a famous model in Korea. Jung-nam Bae, that's his name.

Overall, I like his color matching which is based on tone variation of navy - his coat, jacket and pants looks neatly arranged. Also he keeps his personal uniqueness by a hat with wide visor, fur on the coat and patterned scarf. However what I admire most is his pants, which has belt loops like a normal slacks but also banded openings like a training pants. I think I would try that kind of pants if I can find one!
Awesome. Almost like a Wong Kar-wai character off to the gym.
A real Dandy. Lovechild of YSL and JPG.
wow he is a model..
jung-nam bae..
he dress fashionably all the time.
he is one of the most famous model in korea, ba jung nam.
amazing. such a character!
I love this... Ok, for his own sake, I wish he weren't smoking. But it channels Wilde, he's elegant, he's his own man. I worked in Seoul covering the Olympics in 1988-- it was not, then, a place where people seemed encouraged to express their individuality. The hat, the scarf, the French boatman's t-shirt -- the shoes!!! -- what a beautiful moment. Thanks as always for capturing it.
he's flawless up to the way he holds that cig. this is a great man.
Love the hat & moustache combo!
wow...bae gan ji
He must have been very cold today.
two toned socks? whatever is going on with his foot apparel is brilliant.
I never knew such a cool man in South Korea. However, it is not very Asia. I expect you to find people who is in fashion like nobody else in Europe and America.
Oh! he's one of the best model in Korea, always awesome. He's much more Japanes style though.
wwow he's so badass!
Wow !! Great look !!

The continent really seems to define the amount of bright color in street clothes! Superb Picture!
korean gatsby!
Wow! everyone in Seoul must have dressed like that and walked around the city, right? moseg
crazy combination but seems to work!
love how he pulls of fur, formal cut of the coat and a classic hat with leopard slippers, comfy wool socks, slouchy elastic band pants WITH A BELT, whilst holding a cigarette in a very suave manner ;)
Wow , mr. Bae!!
I wish his shirt wasn't completely covered at the top. Is it just a t-shirt? And a "sweatpants" ending at the ankles. Very nice.
pimp.
everything about his out fit is perfection. especially the scarf.
What a country guy...Gosh...He looks very weird and strange

This is what I imagine when I think of a more modern, Korean Hugh Hefner. Stylish, nonchalant . . . and, of course, comfortable.

Amazing. The socks and hat are my favorite.
I hope you come visit Taiwan one day.

Great outfit and backdrop.
www.torontoverve.org
what a magnificent coat...
Interesting subject to say the least. Good nutrition has given him larger frame than most Koreans. Note the hand larger than the pant pocket. The pant legs tucked away at socks...clever.
Love this! THe scarf & the shoes!
isn't he a model, Jung-nam Bae?
Great!
AHH! The pants! The sailor shirt! Something about him looks like an old movie star.
mixing animal and classic marine style, nice stylecrush!
I love the style; the mink, the socks, the scarf, the sailorshirt.. and that hat! Had no idea Seoul was so stylish!
once again inky navy is the new black.
nod toward spring with the striped t.

I love how natural his whole look is! So many tries too hard, and though it's a bit out there, it looks tres chic!
Love your blog Scott - always an inspiration!
Naval Pimp? He looks fly, either way.
The details make this ensemble so much so that his entire outfit seems to be made up of only details. Great photograph.

haha jungnamyi..I met him in the kangnam clubs couple of times
Beautiful!
Now why can't men put that kind of effort into their outfits stateside?
Great pic.
http://mystylecanvas.blogspot.com
this guy looks somewhat pimp-ish. But maybe that's just the fur collar, hat and what appear to be leopard print slippers.
Hey! I have an Hermes scarf (circa 1980) like that! I am all about those needlepoint shoes too! Love it!
I was really looking for this, coz I'm Korean!!! I hope you have a very great time in here. If I find you in the street I'll scream, then you have to take a picture of me :)
