Best of Milan - Bottega Veneta
The layering, the rich colors, the subtly patterned suits, the slim but not tight silhouette - Bottega Veneta was easily the strongest show of the Milan season.
In Paris Junya was fantastic, I'll post those shots tomorrow.
Overall the shows this season have been less than stellar. Have you seen any shows that you love?

strange sense of excitment just looking at them on a laptop screen! lovely photos.

i like that blue jacket. also: could i work for you? :)
I love the flip of the small lapel; it transforms the suit into a totally different-looking outergarment.
And the multiple button-downs sort of "opening" at the bottom looks like some kind of odd, abstract idea that look so, so right when done. Totally works. This is perfect.
wonderful photos! :)
Very chic dandy sophisticated and sexy!!!
I love the jacket.

I love the looks except for wearing the button-down shirts all the way to the top. a lot of men in europe seem to do it, i think it looks a little dorky.
The beauty of this collection is that it is clean, sophisticated, and timeless. You're going to spend the money, but the clothes will go the distance.

i like z zegna. it wasn't innovative, but for z zegna as a brand it was strong, and i like this type of clothes on men.
Asia
the texture of some of the suits are so exquisite!
beautiful! :)
Amazing collection!
Very chic, I love it!

I feel with apparel, everything under the sun has been done.
Its really hard for designers to really nail stuff without trying too hard.
Not to sound cliche, but "timeless" "classics" (big buzz words) are always going to be the best.

Excellent style inspiration, not only for men but also for women. The first suit is actually very interesting. The other ones are casual and chic. Love the zipper detail on that last one.
the mugler show was the best!
looks like another outstanding collection from Tomas Maier. Lots of dark rich colors and a classy look to it all
I ADORE Bottega Veneta...I would marry a man wearing those kind of clothes!
i'm always passing by bottega veneta
and i was looking at the display and thought the menswear were so polished and chic
i'm so into wearing men's stuffs rather than women's (sometimes they look more natural)
great photos

I love a guy in a well fitted suit. They just look good.
an overall somberness, which is reflecting the situation with the world economy and its effects on the industry.
i rather like the absence of no or smaller lapels, it's a much cleaner line.
fashion stripping down again after years of excess.

omg I must buy one of this jackets
Bravo! Beautiful here.
Such a great selection!!
the colours are factastic!!!!
Well I saw pictures from the Louis Vuitton show in Paris and liked it a lot. I loved the "rich" black color of the clothes as well as the fact that they were so elegant, yet simple. The orange they used also was ok, if used only for one item (jacket). The combination blazer/sleeveless quilted jacket was interesting.
LOVE IT , awesome faces
I love this show and I also like Prada, it was very interesting and I also loved Viktor & Rolf in Paris, for me it was prfect.
Thanks.
I think that male shows in Milan still keep a good level compared to the female shows; for exemple september 2010 was so low level compared to paris fashion shows...maybe lack of inspiration
I really liked Walter Van Birkenstocks (or however its spelt!) and Adam Kimmel...both for use of colour and show casting. I was really disappointed by Burberry Prorsum and McQueen menswear. Both just the usual Milan luxury brand/King of the Castle nonsense but with a slight/uninspired twist. And as for Galliano and Givenchy menswear...dont get me started!!!
Bottega Veneta were great this season
I agree with you about this show, one of the best in this Milano men fashion week.

Yes these are clothes that are both chic and highly wearable great clour and form.
Junya W. and Bottega were my favorite as well !
wow these photos are amazing...and the outfits...loving it...

Bottega Veneta is rarely wrong! :)
Versace had a good show, in my opinion... I loved their skinny elegant pants and the leather jackets.
What do you think?
i'm liking the take on shirt vs jacket length..the longer shirt..last button left open (perhaps deliberately, perhaps just a aesthetically perfect mistake)..with the slim, perfectly cut jacket. but would it work on a 'regular person'..risk of looking a tad sloppy? having said that...slim belt at the waist. supremely elegant. and fresh.
Scott, i just met you in Paris, during Ann Demeulemeester men's fashion show. I just wanted to tell you i really love your work
Really nice silhouettes. I really liked Zegna and Moncler Gamme Bleu. Zegna really put out some nice pieces and the presentation and pieces of Gamme Bleu were phenomenal.
This is really cool.. By the way, I saw you today during the Ann demeulmeester show in Paris. I was so thrilled :)

Indeed, the best from Milan!
Gorgeous! Just gorgeous!
The colours are amazing, the mustard and burgundy in the third picture... lovely.
I really enjoyed Canali and Burberry Prorsum, Bottega Veneta was also one of my favorites.
Wow. This show looks amazing...
I plan to marry a man who dresses like this...
handsome suits, beautiful fabric.

Re to jennim (10:28am post): I totally disagree about the dorkiness, Third pic in: green undershirt with gray and black over top looks very cool/ streetwise and I could picture myself wearing something like this (but then again I am a numbers nerd).
p.s. I meant 4th pic in
I love the cut on these jackets and the layering. I'm intrigued by the zipper in the middle of the jacket that I keep seeing this season. Interesting.

I haven't paid much attention to menswear for whatever reason...But this collection has captured my attention for whatever reason...
I can't agree more! Bottega Veneta's men's collection is just amazing - wearable, but still fresh and trendy and kind of classic at the same time. It is totally up my street. Mr. Maier has done an amazing job to create the men's line, right from the first collection. I am a fan!

These suits are amazing. I love the textiles and colors used!

Loved Iceberg show
What an amazing collection! Love it all.
I agree...Bottega Venata's collection was Superb!! Tomas never seems to disappoint the customer and the fashion industry with this very strong menswear collection. Dirk Birkenberg's collection was hot!!
Manly, elegant, a superb collection. I especially loved the pop of green against the dark jacket. The cut of these jacket and suits were perfect.
these trends are really new and exciting, something really exciting about the layering and play of collars, wonderful
That first suit is amazing!
I generally much prefer your on-the-street shots, but I can see why you love this collection. These clothes are _elegant_ and could easily fit into a stylish person's (as opposed to a fashionista's) wardrobe: they begin with classic, clean cuts and add interest with saturated color, rich but subtle textures, and small variations on generic conventions (e.g. lapel size). Nothing's fussy or precious, and it looks like the jackets could be tailored to work on more than one body type.
I could see someone wearing that wonderful midnight blue jacket for the next 20 years. These are clothes for people with _style_.
Sophisticated casual ! Niice !

Na never seen a show, not many here in Cornwall !!
Outrageous pieces!! So very excited about all the collections. Menswear this season is impeccably done. From the double breasted coats, to brown rich palettes, coppers, boots, military coats to vintage and fun pieces in both D&G and the Dolce and Gabbana shows. Menswear is just breathtaking as well as inspirational.

the Perret Schaad - Show in Berlin was amazing! But I couldn´t find pictures online yet, which captured them so cool how they appeared in real.
Maybe next time by you?
Strong collection. Absolutely beautiful and REAL clothes for men. (Sorry, I'm not for skirts and outlandishness for men.) Sensuous fabrics, the most beautiful silhouette I've seen in a long time (more fitted), and darned SEXY!
Love the simplistic lines of the collection, this collection could be used for both male and female in seprates. Loving the androdgeny feel to it.
I really wish you put up one of the Junya Watanabe fair isle sports jackets. I have to get one!

Bottega Venata are getting stronger, in my oppinion, in both womens and mens lines in the past few seasons, loving the fabrication.
Fabulous!
this is such an amazing collection.
The men, who will buy these clothes, will certainly be cool and stylish! I love them and I definitely would like to wear them as well.
I liked the Burberry Prorsum and McQueen shows in Milan. It was revolutionary and classic all at the same time.
Gorgeous layering!

I love these clothes, as a children's clothing designer it inspires me to go and design well tailored clothes for little boys, there's not much out there for little boys.
beautiful!!!
Love it all..hard to pick a favourite
Gods what a miserable bunch in dark miserable clothing...no doubt beautiful made in sumptuous fabrics but nevertheless DULL DULL DULL, does not lift the spirits one iota.... lemon sucking anyone?
very, very sexy clothes. bottega veneta are the best in my opinion, and their leather can't be beaten by anyone else.
amazing!i'm inlove with bottega vinetta's collection
The layered shirts and the suit's pattern are amazing here
I'm sorry, but I'm too upbeat of a person to wear this depressing-looking stuff......
AMAZING!!!!
Yes! Loved Dsquared, Gucci and Ermanno Scervino!
Now this is how men should dress. All the time.
:-)

i find this collection and all the other fw 11 ones boring. i feel like everything presented has already been seen or done. ss 11 was much stronger
Love! Nice change from your typical sweater.

The second and last two are fantastic.
Men - we like when you layer.
:) Rach
Awesome show. Maier always finds that perfect harmony between relaxed and considered, always so much more successful in his mens collections to me.
I loved Umit Benan. His collection was so modern and masculine, without stepping outside of the box of wearability.
But yeah, a lot of disappointing collections for fall. Unfortunate
thanks for these photos ! I´ll steal this look: jacket and slightly longer shirt.
good typical sweater, cloth and matching the face with every cloth.
bottega veneta was for sure one of the best shows, but for me the biggest surprise and most influential collection was shown by John Varvatos
Black,brown,grey,green.Autumn leaves.
Great.
everything looks great. but all those layers at BV's prices? big bucks!
WOW! Absolutely GORGE! The suits are amazing. The first one is the best!
4th guy/clothe looks absolutely marvelous!
I really like the washed wool suit jacket with the deconstructioned shoulder on pic 5. Looks nicely rounded and fits well...seen very bad images of lightweight constructional shoulders before :)
Very nice pictures!
I love these designs. Handsome. Manly. Dignified, but bloody edge modern with a whiff of espionage. I look forward to seeing these just as they are in real life. Fabulous model casting, too. Ooofa!
love the jacket texture in the first picture. gives a new take on nice jackets
LOVE y can't all the guys dress like all the time
Yowza! Such pretty boys. Especially #5. And the clothes aren't bad either.
Who needs poetry when there are those faces on BV's models.
Are you sure they really exist?
Cheeeeeck bones <333

Exquisite. I love the fabrics and color choices.
I really love the layers of textures, and the classical-but-not-old look. Amazing.
