A perfect "country in the city" Saturday look.

Her classic bone structure and animated expression are a little reminiscent of Isabella Rossellini.

A timeless pic... Hard to tell when this photo has been taken. She reminds me of Antoine Doinel (Jean-Pierre Leaud) in Truffaut's "400 Coups". Those grey socks and boots remind me of the kids from the orphanage at my school in the East of France in the late sixties. Somehow could also come from a "neo-realisti" Italian film of the fifties, more southern Italy or Po Valley than milanese. Try it in black and white, Scott.

I love the play of colours and different greens. That little hint of a green sweater underneath the green military style coat with the green skirt, coupled with the green socks. The denim makes it pop a little. Also the beautiful colour of her skin. Those legs!

Blogger Eryl said ... (10:48 AM) :

Marvellous: she seems to have considered all the elements of her outfit (not with overt consciousness I'm sure) and related them to each other, and herself, beautifully. They are nice simple, accessible articles of clothing, that anyone could get their hands on, yet she makes them sing.

There is something adorable and innocent yet griddy about this photo and that's what makes it interest. You have to ask who is she? Where is she going? what does she do? Very good I love it when pictures make me wonder.

precious lool! those shoes remind me when I was a kid.. preties! :)

Blogger Words said ... (3:08 PM) :

Love it, great colors, it has a utilitarian socialist feel that really captures the aura of the times, but it simultaneously denotes an very distinct sense of individuality through the cut and fit. Perfect.

Blogger khdz said ... (5:59 PM) :

i love her nonchalant approach to fashion. it's just another thing she does, not something that is a big deal.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:06 PM) :

She looks like an extra from an Italian neo-realist film, except happy. Moda Povera...a nice antidote to all that suffocating luxury of times recently gone by....

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:13 PM) :

I totally agree Anonymous 9:00 AM

babe alert.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:21 PM) :

its the tanned legs that make this perfect!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:21 PM) :

Really arresting. There are so many words to describe what you have captured, but I appreciate the movement and emotion. It just goes to show what "fashion" doesn't have to be.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:32 PM) :

I like her coat and her attitude.

Anonymous Theobroma said ... (2:33 AM) :

Another ensemble that shows some forethought without being too calculated. I could definitely steal these proportions.

Not sure what I'm loving more: The coat (esp. its fit & length), the boots/socks combo, the palette (white on top, black on the bottom, lightened with blue/green in between and topped with that great gray-green neutral), or her sweetly beaming countenance.

The way the blue and white stripes on the corner of that building make a perfect backdrop, pointing downward toward the swing of the bag, is just too cool.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:14 AM) :

jackie o' I love you.

Blogger Liv said ... (5:25 AM) :

A photo that's timeless! Lovely!
I like the way the turqoise pops up...

Anonymous Julia said ... (10:40 AM) :

It's not a Milanese look, too casual for this city, but I like the mix!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:50 AM) :

There is definetely something old fashioned about this girl! By the way, the coat is Benetton!

Anonymous mojoliveshere said ... (11:56 AM) :

This looks effortless. Beautiful

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:08 PM) :

That bag just invites you to swing it, doesn't it.

People should swing their bags more. Get a proper bag and swing it. This shot's a case in point.

Blogger Unknown said ... (2:52 PM) :

LOVELY!!!! :D

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:37 AM) :

Wow, I really think this is an amazing photo. The first thing I thought when I first saw it was how much it reminded me of Henri Cartier-Bresson's photo of the little boy carrying two bottles of wine. This photo is so similar. I can't really tell how old this girl is. She looks ageless in a way.
