I don't know why but I find this kind of creepy and beautiful all at the same time. I love the tones and colours - this photo could have been taken any time in the last 40 or 50 years (but for the brand new looking vespa). It's beautiful.
such a great photo!

Wow, beautiful picture, such a nice light!
Peace and love!
Lovely. I wonder if he is Roman or Roma?
I saw a similar man playing in a similar alley in Granada this summer, playing to pay for an eye operation according to his sign. Made me sad.
This photo is beautiful! XOXO, http://www.NatalyasCloset.com

I love accordian players. They are from another age, I suppose just like the shoe shine guys. Interesting shot.

Very nice colours!

I love how the bits and bobs about him suggest he's been sitting there playing for awhile.
And really. That slightly arched eyebrow? Fantastic.
Great photo !!

Such a good photo again I'd love to see it in black and white I think it would give the photo a totally different voice. I love how it looks so classic on the streets like that over there.
This photo is so gorgeous.

this is Rome...
This pic is so realistic..The expressions on the old man's face are so clear to understand... Photographer really makes this pic alive....
This is fantastic pic... It's so colorful and realistic....
He is a romanian gipsy, not italian! we don't have italian musicians on the streets..sorry..Monia from Rome
Great photo!

The pix is great, although I would have cut the vespa out to make the picture timeless.
great work!
I disagree with Christina - the vespa adds visual depth and interest. Wonderful shot, Scott!
Thanks--I love this photo.
Pictures like this remind me of why I love Roma, and I am thankful that I live here!
What a fabulous photograph! I love the partial view of the green door on the left and the touch of orange in the umbrella.
I don´t have words..... just wonderful!!
You´re fantastic!!
Kisses from Madrid.

Such a BEAUTIFUL photo Sarte! I believe your work is becoming more and more refined!!
I never knew it was possible to hear and smell a photo.
I could cry.
The perfect lights you get in your photos make me mad. I feel like throwing my Canon from the bridge...
I love the photo, but i loathe these begging accordeonplayers. They do not know how to play besides 3 notes. I worked at a shop who had one sitting in front of it every day, making a very good income while driving me crazy with the endless repeating of 30 seconds of the same tune.
May I have more of this please? This is beautiful, these last pics are sooo charming!!! The light the colours!!
Romania singer.
The best clothes in the entire world: MUSIC!
Beautiful...
perfect lights! amazing!
Now this is what I call capturing a moment. Makes me want to be there, hearing the music. ♥
I guess this is both romantic and sad, and he's probably a romanian perfermer...

Such interesting shots on your blog, wonderful shots of people, slices of life, very impressive
Ahhh! when i was in Rome there was a man who played the melodica outside our apartment EVERY day he would play the same two or 3 songs on loop and hassle us for money EVERY day...but looking back it was a funny memory, and apparently a very "Rome" thing to experience. The gypsy presence there is a bit like the presence of the homeless in SF.
This photo is amazing, the light is perfect
I know this guy! He is from Botosani county, Romania. I remember him back in the old days when he used to be part of a band that played at weddings. The world is such a small place after all.
Hmm, he may be from Romania, but from what I see I can tell he's a gypsy (which is different).
Yes there is a slight chance to be romanian, at least he doesn't beg but sing for money.. Nice shot though!
Now here's a friendly-looking street figure who, for a change, holds something that doesn't resemble a phone, an IPod, a cigarette or an ice-cold expression...
he plays down the stairs from my home, vicino via dei chiavari
I think he's gipsy.
But good picture anyway.
very nice photo
I bet he is Romanian - Romanian gipsy :-) singer
Gipsy is different from Romanian!!!
This picture caught me by surprise, because when I was studying abroad in fall 2009, my friend and I traveled to Rome. She took a picture of this man for her photography class - and he was in the same exact spot on the street wearing the same exact sweater. Amazing how the same street performer catches the attention of two different photographers, even years apart.
Gipsy or not...Romanian or not...he's a human being and the picture is more than great.
The best thing about the pic is the GORGEOUS ACCORDION!!!!!! man, that is one banging squeezebox!!!
