Nothing better than a great trench. I love the way both of these woman styled them, with a few burst of color and some killer shoes. And the way you shot them both from behind is sublime!

Trenches are so mysterious--I always wish to see what's underneath! Love those Marni shoes in the second shot.

Love the bun and trench combo, so truly elegant
They're both texting. Looking gorgeous though! When I was in London I picked up a vintage Burberry trench. The woman selling it to me said "Ohh, you look better than Kate Moss." So I bought it. Smart lady! haha...
I love the shoes in the first one and the skirt peeking out in the second!
i loves trenches, especially the first one with a touch of color in the rolled up sleeve.
I love trench coats...tempted to move to London so I can wear one more often
That heel tilt is such a classic girl thing to do

Nice photos.
I love the shoes of the second pic!
The first is so classic, and the second can almost double as a dress or shirtdress.
I loved the detail of the back!
The footwear both the ladies have chosed to wear that day standout in their photo's. I love the tan boots!
I am curious about what type of messages is capturing their attention. From one who adores them?
I love her shoes
Perfect!
Slaves to cell phones is all I can see.
Beautiful coats! I think every girl should have a trench coat in their closet. It's the perfect garment to ease in and out of those cold winter months.

I like the red and grey combination in the second picture.I love the shoes in both pictures, particularly the second one.
I've never been fond of trenches, they just seem to remind me too much of 60's Italian cloak & dagger movies or segments of Natasha from Rocky & Bullwinkle. I think it depends on where you live, city or country.
Both Ladies are quite beautiful. Its funny, almost everything about both pictures are Identical, coat, dress, hair, what their doing.. very cool.

LOVE!!! a women in Marni high heels.
It's that time of year. And despite the stigma they've gained over the years, I find trench coats very chic.
both chic stylish fashion forward world cities..and these photos prove it.
a neutral with bits of added colour.
( notice how the london street is a bit more clean than the nyc one)
In the second pix...love the matching red polish on her tootsies.
love those shoes !
love the purple on the inside of the first coats sleeves. so cool

the second is the smartest look i've seen in ages. that high seam in the back, the heels, her bangles, her hair.
your photographs are simply brilliant.
I love those Marnis in the 2nd pic
2nd one most definitely ~ looks like Grace Kelly ~ beautiful...
amazing - but I am curious - live in London and almost never see anyone round about now with bare legs like this at this time of year - though of course we all should cos it really makes the trench!
Love the badass boots in the first look and the color on the turned up sleeve. In the second? Everything. From slightly demure upswept hair to the perfect shade of red on the dress showing beneath the coat to the touch of red toenail polish peeking out from her incredible shoes, this whole outfit is a knock out.
- The beautiful light and the shiny textures in the second photo! Also, the colors: Concrete trench, rich red skirt - repeated in the nail color - and those elegant, but relaxed, shoes!
http://momentc.blogspot.com
I like how you show the back of the trench, it's a very rare portrayal. We ususally always photograph the trench from the front... classic with a twist. Love it!
http://cestclassique.blogspot.com
Love the second coat, shoes and bag!
trench+heels classic combination but it always works!

Funny, for some reason I always associate ladies' trench coats with hair in a bun. And there it is: hair in a bun. Twice!
lady #2 is amazing.
awwwwww mannnnn. Now I REALLY want a trench!
http://www.cuppycakeme.blogspot.com
Love the 2nd coat!
http://californiacandy.wordpress.com/
I am desperate for the the shoes in that first photo.
Hot shoes! I just wish that everyone weren't always staring at their phones. Just sayin.
I really love trenches, they are elegant and charming, and always make you look nice. This is the best fashion blog i've ever visited, good luck, never change!
I want the blue shoes!!! :P

I like the second pic better.
I love the way the second woman styled herself, but I dislike the cut of her trench. Those shoes with the red dress? Yum~
Love the purple trim on the trench and the berry skirt peeking out from the jacket. So chic.
http://fivetdsisters.blogspot.com/2010/10/pummywumpkins.html
funny, both of them in heels and the dresses end just below the trench hem. they are even both with their mobiles and almost with the same hairstyle...
Wow....you have a great eye.

As a HUGE trench fan, I absolutely love both outfits, the 2nd one in particular: the vibrant red, the contrasting texture of the bag..brilliant! Even the hair...perfectly polished.
The first womans shoes are out of sight!
windowshopz.com
I just can't help but notice how similar these 2 look!
(Am trying to go past the crushing on the first)...and have to say love the mauve and teal with the trench neutral.
And the navy and cherry red with the taupe of the 2nd coat is just perfect.
the "wear-your-coat-as-cape" trend just got very boring
I like trenches, they remind me of England. But here? Can't wear them much.
The one on top looks great, specially with the purplish lining. Not really liking the bottom one, it lacks shape. Great pics though.
Sweet! Love the second picture, very storytelling.
the purple cuffs! such a great detail.

I'm liking the second one. Her shoes are fantastic. The grey trench is beautiful and the red peaking out is mysterious. Great look. The first one seems too common for me.
Love trenches.....BUT, Love the boots in the first pic!!! Awesome!

I love the colors (purple and red) peeking out in both photos. Lovely! xxx
http://reallyliteral.blogspot.com/
These pics perfectly represent both London and New York styles! Love the shoes on both :)
is the second lady mary kate?
this is the thing i like clothes. a bit effort make them cool and beautiful.
Simply beautiful. Love everything about that outfit.
Trench is THE must have in a wardrobe !!! And the little leopard print handbag in the bottom picture is so adorable. It's the Lanvin Happy bag :) So in love with this bag !!!
I wonder if there will be more and more photos of people engrossed in their electronics instead of looking out to the world for visual information. At least we have you out there observing reality and recording it!
I really like the touch of lavender on that first trench!
I see you avoided the "on the street and in the trenches" quote by Churchill, I think.
What I find fascinating about these two coats is that they both go by the same name. The top one is very much a traditional trench coat, but the second shows how far it's possible, over time, to push all the boundaries and still be seen to fit them. It is grey, rather than beige, has no belt or (as far as I can see) epaulettes, the waist is high and slightly smocked, even the fabric seems to be different. Yet it is still a Trench: brilliant. It's also gorgeous.
i just love that second coat!!!
Do these women really walk around the city in those shoes?
They are gorgeous, the shoes I mean, but they must be killers.
OH GOD! LOVE LOVE LOVE! The great thing about texting, Scott, is it gives you the chance to sneak in a few shots of people unawares, as they're focussed on texting! :)
i know everyone is commenting on the looks, which is great, by the way. but what i love is that both ladies got really nice, toned calves!
The both coats are splendid!
xx Ale
amazing.
Wonderful (as usual)
Nb : we met @ Colette last year but maybe you did not remember it
does anyone know where I can find the shoes she is wearing in the second pic? tried marni as it came up above but couldn't find them. Any boutique online? thanks!
oh i was so intrigued by the shoes I forgot to mention how I love both pictures!! especially the colourful details!
Perfect. Both!
www.thebeautylover.blogspot.com
I love trenches. Always classic. You can never go wrong with them. Loving the first outfit...partly because of the gorgeous shoes!
http://red-soledfashionista.blogspot.com/
they both have great style!
they are great! i love the the second photo!
the-stylish-citizen.com
I love shoes!
I like the second photo for several reasons, mostly because of the red peaking out from under the "different" looking trench, and the purse too! But also, she is taking care of her trench. I understand that trench coats can be a more "knock around" type outer garment, but I don't think we should let them start to get the unkept look. Especially when we are dressed to the nines underneath.
really wonderful
Love the 2nd shoes!!! Amazing!
So beautiful that it takes my breath away!
Adoro...

The Second Picture
I hear the love theme from movie The Russia house when I see this photo. I love it when a photograph tells a story.
DELICIOUS!
http://www.profesjonalnafotografia.com/
that second shot is insanely amazing.
love the "slaves to cell phones" comment ...negative... but true kind of.
The coats are perfect in the upcoming season! Might as well grab one with the same color and hue from the photos! The whole outfit works perfectly with the shoes. I'm loving it!
Those heels in the second photo are gorgeous! It perfectly goes with the bag and the whole outfit itself! Great photos by the way.
I love these "stolen" pictures!
The ladies look so casual, but so well put together!
so affecting. colours, beauty, elegance, style, the similarity. the shoes, the coloured cuff, the red slip of the skirt. agree, agree, agree. but who is the maker of that bag, it has haunted me through the night?
I like everythiong of her look, specially the shoes
I love the shoes and that red red cherry red dress under the trench.
YOU SAY ITZ THE TRENCHEZ I SAY ITZ THE HEELZ!!!!! VERY CHIC AND SEXY
this coat looks great.
the gal is gorgeous as well.

www.fashionless-ons.blogspot.com
thanks for all you lovely pictures!!
Laura
It's great seeing these trenchcoats on the street, they look very stylish
gorgeous!
Honestly, Teen Vogue's Mary Kate Steinmiller has such an innate, personal, beautiful sense of her own style. No wonder she is photographed for the Sartorialist as much as she is!
Such fine ways to wear/combine a trench!
I like the second picture. Those shoes are lovely!
Does anyone know what type of shoes these are and where I can buy online or in Melbourne?
Liz
I love trenches - so very early
60s and Rocky and Bullwinkle - Natasha really rocked it. I love the way the lilac lining sets off the light tan of the boots.
I love the second one. There's something about looking at outfits from the back that make them look more elegant!
Love the second photo! anyone knows the brand of that blue shoes shes wearing????
Wow i love the bag!

Her shoes are from Marni!
I adore MK Steinmiller and this shot captures her essence impeccably. x
