I love the little dress and coat combo and her curly hair but she looks like she forgot to take off her stage make-up. And I don't really like those chucks with that outfit.

Anonymous Valentine said ... (2:03 PM) :

Okay, this is an amazing shot. I could print this out and just look at all day, noticing new facets at each glance. I love the coat and agree that this is one of the few (perhaps the only??) time I've seen tennis shoes with a dress and thought it actually looked good. But I feel like the hair + the heavy eye makeup + the necklace + the bag is a little too much and makes this otherwise stylish woman look ridiculously high-maintenance and trendy.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:14 PM) :

Black chucks with brown laces would've been better :)

Blogger the outfit diaries said ... (2:16 PM) :

When it comes to mish-mash, quirky style, no one does it like us Londoners. On paper this camel coat/ converse/ polka-dot dress/ chunky gold jewellery combination should be a crime against fashion but she's rocking it in that effortless way that some people can pull off, and some people just can't. I wish I could say I was one of the people that 'can' but despite being London born and bred, in this ensemble I would just look plain foolish. X

This is my flatmate, she was wearing trainers for practicality because she had just finished working backstage at one of the shows at London Fashion week. She cuts her own hair in the bathroom, and the coat belongs to me. The policeman were a happy accident, completely unposed, and the whistle necklace is by Sophie Hulme.

Blogger Shilpi Tomar said ... (12:23 AM) :

I think this look would be more polished if she wore some heels. Otherwise, it's beautiful!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:52 AM) :

The shoes are really coming off as a 'love them/hate them' situation. I'm squarely in the former camp. It's clear they're for the to/from the office situation, but they're a much slimmer and more graceful profile than your typical clunky trainer, with a delightful retro appeal. Also, they're weathered just right; not pristine, yet not overly tatty, and it sets the rest of the look off. Delightfully insouciant, really!

My high-schooler really dug this photo. (Both of my girls are really into Converse right now.) She loved everything about the outfit, including the whistles, though she thinks the eye makeup overwhelms this young woman's eyes. Her favorite things about the photo in general (and mine too) are the overall composition and the reds and cobalt blues in the background.

Nearly everything about this outfit is perfect. Her dress works well with her coat, which goes wonderfully with her necklace and her bag. Her hair style is excellent and her make-up dramatic. She reminds me of Melanie Griffith in Working Girl, wearing her business casual clothes with running shoes on the subway to get to work, and then changing once she's at work. Perhaps not what she is doing, but the similarity is rather striking. This looks like a modernized version of that!

Agree on this comment:
- love converse w/ casual dresses, but this dress, coat, bag and wonderful necklace need a dressier shoe. crazy funky gladiator maybe.
-The only thing right about this is that a woman with beautiful legs is showing them off
