There is a lot of interesting detail in this picture. And I'm talking more about the belt and the gathered trouser hems than the cute butterfly clip in his hair.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:46 PM) :

i quiet like the look, but i wonder if the gloves were a conscious decision or weather he had to wear them, due to the coat being way to short in arm length and actual length. I would love this look with a coat that fit the guy, the more i look at it the smaller and more ridiculous it appears. However, love the butterfly, clutch and shoes!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:54 PM) :

i adore his sense of adventure but would rather that he have a more cohesive message. Right now it seems more like, look at; my beard, no. look at my pants. no. look at my gloves. no, the bag. when you wear clashing patterns it works better when one of them stands out and the others patterns are subtle. same here. right now, too much and too many noises.

Blogger Unknown said ... (7:59 AM) :

At first glance, his look seemed like nothing special, then I enlarged the photo and took in all the odd details: silky tee over a vest, ruched pant legs, Dior women's clutch, fabric orchid (?) hair ornament, and perhaps most strange--satin full-length mittens. Bizarre. He is a very handsome man and with just one of the details, he would have looked great. As it is, he's over-egged the pudding and his own good looks have gotten lost in the costumey extras.

Anonymous whizfolios.com said ... (8:00 AM) :

Anonymous olafgermany said ... (8:31 AM) :

A really beautiful man with a nice taste in colors and style. For me it's very parisian style and i love this look...but i think he don't feel very well with his gloves (an inspiration by the current fall/winter from YSL?).

Anonymous Elena from Venice said ... (9:02 AM) :

Definitely trying too hard. Reminds me the real Eighties, when you could drape a sheet around your body, fix with lots of safety pins, accessorize with second hand pieces, and pass as cool, now sorry but all this effort to look interesting makes me lose the guy inside the clothes, and that's not contemporary. I dislike the "I am interesting" attitude. Nice pants anyway, but the diva gloves and clutch, please.... who is he trying to attract? Maybe butterflies.

Sometimes I look at the people in these photos and think "wow, that a great look" and other times I imagine that they must have woken up naked in a strangers house and threw on whatever they could find before they hastily ran for the door. This is one of those shots.

Seriously... those gloves, the clutch, the pants, the butterfly, umm did I mention the gloves?! A lot of effort was apparently put into this look but to what end?

I'm sure his stunning face is probably what swayed me. Any one else, any other face - and I would have probably laughed.

Car, of course.

Anonymous Alessandro said ... (5:52 PM) :

Surely this is an interesting picture; the subject and that butterfly in his head beg for a picture to be taken in the same sort of way people stop to look at accidents on the highway. This guy and his look may represent somebody's 'hero' as was stated pby a poster; he may be swimming upstream, sure; he may be daring, fabulous, defiant. However, he also looks like pure unadulterated garbage, or 'ordures' as they say in Paris. Of course he is free to look as hideous as he wants; what is truly interesting is the usual group of lemmings falling over themselves to praise a man for wearing feminine clothes and accessories, and that make him look very silly in the process.

Blogger o l i v i a said ... (8:25 PM) :

Blogger thwany said ... (3:45 AM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:09 AM) :

As previously mentioned, too many statement pieces at once. I also think this look is too feminine to be successfully pulled off by a guy. Kudos for trying, though.

Blogger S. Alice said ... (11:14 AM) :

I love the shirt, pants, and clutch, but the butterfly is questionable in my mind.

Blogger 82Brute said ... (2:14 PM) :

In the words of the inimitable Karen Walker, "Honey, what's happening, what's going on, what's this all about?"

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:31 PM) :

Its a Hodge-podge style that somehow works. The contrast of the pants and the trench work really well. Don't Know how I feel about the butterfly. Not many could pull this off, it helps that he is tall and slender.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:51 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:40 PM) :

His casual attitude juxtaposed with the many contrived elements of the outfit (butterfly, clutch, glove, etc) seem to be conflicting. I find it interesting and fun, but I don't understand why so many people instantly say it is "perfect" just because it is so different.

Love the trench. Love the photo.

Blogger ms. hershey said ... (4:03 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:40 PM) :

I love his utter self assurance. There is something I dare call Parisian Shogun about him.... the belt/cummerband, the hair and the butterfly, gloves.... its so outrageously femenine yet masculine it looks great!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:28 AM) :

I'm sorry...he's trying a little hard to stand out and be different. Perhaps some nice pink wheels on the Aston Martin....I think not.

Anonymous Trey said ... (1:49 PM) :

Not feeling this one. Too many expensive-looking clothes that don't look like they have anything to do with the person as an individual...looks store-bought, not an outgrowth of the guy's individuality...contrived and cynical...hate it.
