Comments on "On the Street.....Raw Edged, Milano"
iT LOOKS LIKE SHE DOESN'T HAVE A LEG!
BY THE WAY HER LOOK IS GORGEOUS..SO WYNONA RYDER/BETTLEJUICE!
Love her wind blown locks and the serious cocktail rock on her finger. Edgy in the best of ways.
xx Katie
Dear Sartorialist,
It would be wonderful if your title was click-able so I could easily go back to the full site after following your Twitter link!
what do you think?
Sincerely,
Sparkles.
oh i am SO in love with this. is her hair up or just short? either way it's great. perfect use of the socks-with-heels trend. and the draping of that dress is just spectacular.
what a gracious silhouette! inspiring..:)
I Love Black style<333
She has perfect dress size!!
Giovanna Battaglia?
I love the way her hair complements her dress with a kind of raw edge to it as well. And I like the brown belt and brown sandals.
Love this look, it's edgy
Nice style!! Like it
I love the black-on-brown. The way she's standing makes her look as if she only has one leg (odd observation, I know). Does anyone else see the illusion?
great hair and lovely socks!
Would like to take a drawing about her on http://emanuelebarison.blogspot.com
This blog is so nice! :-)
http://isabellathordsen.blogspot.com/
Black and brown look great together. Plus the messy hair, uneven hemline, and something about her face ... hmm, quite striking.
http://nyanjom.blogspot.com
yay, first to comment.
first of all.. the hair is a hot mess in a fabulous way.
I want the skirt.. love the unfinished/ uneven hem.
BUT this sort of looks like she has one leg... kind of creepy.

T.A.P.S.
love the sandals+socks+long skirt combo. very punkish look(hair) - kind of <3
www.oliviapoli.blogspot.com
such a great look!
her hair matches her hem. witchy woman just rolled outta bed.
love
That is a complete and fantastic look! Awesome!
she looks good! she is fashionable but a non-conformist. I love the rebellious streak.
so far this is my favourite at The Sartorialist.
LOVE the high waist, the chiffon like edge of the skirt.
Also very jealous of the sun they still have in Milan!
Most excellent.
Is this an optical illusion- I can't seem to see her other leg? Love the shoes.
lalala..femme fatale en vue!
Yes! I'm in love with black+brown combos! And her hair is beautiful.
WOW! I love the hair. Thanks for helping me get over my complex abt my growing-out crop. Also love the stillness of the shot
the sock and heel, love it.
Mixing black and brown? How dare she!
But I'm not going to tell a woman this stylish how to dress ;-)
A cross between Helena Bonham Carter and Chanel's latest moth hole designs. I call it "Just before Halloween".
She looks nice. But usually i don't like to much the combination black and brown.
great look! @ Tom.. A cross between Helena Bonham Carter, Chanel's latest moth hole designs and Yoko Ono. Cool mix of black & brown
Ooh, me likes. It's how the hem matches the hair, which matches the belt and shoes. Super sexy.
beautiful!! love her shoes!!
come undone in a polished way.
the hair and hem sort of mimic one another.
the colour of hair, belt & shoes are all complimentary as well.
I like the mix of softness and a slight edge and the below-the-knee hemline...as for the one leg thing everyone is creeped out by, she might just be a really chic pirate ;)
Happy Monday!
thats freaking cute!!!
http://donotshoeme.blogspot.com
it doesnt reminds you to halloween??haha
bisous

Stunning Photo!
I have mixed feelings about the raw deconstructed edge. I wore a phillip lim above the knee dress to an event a week ago and it had raw edges along the waist line and the hem. By the end of the night, I had a multitude of strings trailing the ground. Bits of the silk strings were buched up on my boyfriend's suit pants. They were everywhere and I wondered how I still had a dress on my body . . . So its beautiful but in some ways so annoying and impractical.
Black is the color....
I love your photos!
Respect from Japan
Love the brown and black and the shaggy skirt. But socks and sandals here and elsewhere are just fashion victimism. Not functional (how do U keep the socks clean?) and too evocative of bad tourist looks that are rife in resort towns. I know it's style but I'm just sayin.
mi piace marrone e nero!!
Like shoot and shoes
http://coolneeded.blogspot.com
Kinda like a punk-rock ballerina feel, so elegant and fragile, yet so rock-n-roll. Great photograph!
Tinkerbell!
Where's Peter Pan?
Great look.
http://jimjims.net
Interesting ~
sweet, sexy and a little dangerous!
Classy and rock 'n' roll, from her hair down to her feet! Love it.
Wish I could get away with wearing the heel/sock combo, but alas I would look like an idiot.
She beautiful for sure, but I think she looks like Helena Bonham Carters character in Harry Potter. Its like well thought out fashion madness. Love the brown belt and shoes though.

i love this outfit... really nice...
I am loving this look A LOT!

Loving the wild hair!
http://californiacandy.wordpress.com/
She definitely looks like something out of a Tim Burton movie! Not a "pretty" look, but this girl is quite beautiful
Fabulous look! It's such a great dress.
http://theaccesorylady.tumblr.com
What a cool lady.
hair, ripped hem, love it all
I want to live in Milan! And see beautifully (effortlessly) dressed people every day.
Me encanta!!!!

I like it!
LA MONA SE VISTE DE SEDA
www.lamonasevistedeseda.com
Her hair is pretty fantastic.
I love the socks with heels, which I am normally not to keen on.
I love her giant ring.
I love the pretty, simple pearl necklace.
This entire outfit works for me.
http://glamkittenslitterbox.blogspot.com/
in love .....
Guess the 90's revival is in full swing now.
I just love the Swedish Hasbeens...
Holy crap - this WHOLE outfit is unbelievably stunning! The dress, the shoes, the hair - she's got it all! I could only dream to look this amazing!
Tim Burton's total look!!
I love this look. Love it! Except the shoes. Those I hate.
Great shot, what a silhouette. Love her body figure.
The finish at the bottom of the skirt is nice combined with the pattern of the top and the haircut. The socks are worn just right, like a perfect follow up to the skirt. They in turn work nicely with the shoes, which are bold but sophisticated. All smooth transitions.
The ring, belt, nails and necklace are all good.
All that's really missing here is her name and number.
Bravo! Untamed hair, dancer body, dancer style, dancer stance (everything is aligned - hence the leg illusion...but that's great),...not too much makeup. She's into texture. I'd like to see more of her wardrobe. Encore!
I like her hair, her posture and her facial expression the most.
I really dislike the footwear (both sox and shoes). And her dress or skirt/top are o.k. - nothing to go crazy over.
Great style - I'm inspired
This woman may in fact be an elf.
I love this look!
Is that a big skeleton key? I wonder what it opens.
What a lovely witch! Heh, I love her hair, that's what make her special.
And I like black and brown combination, I don't get what people find wrong with that.
Peace and love!
I really want to enlarge the images like we used to! 'Im so interested in her hands- the ring... the.. key? Please upload!
i love the hair!!!
It has a sense of Calmness to it.

she looks absolutely perfect put together... the messy hair and the raw edges. brown and black is an always winner combination.
I am just waiting for the bitches' harsh criticism..
gorgeous!
Stunning.

Milan is fab...as is she....xv
fantastic! :)
http://lookinsideyourcupboard.blogspot.com
Playful, serene and deliciously dark.
Her hair & the bottom of her skirt completely tie together!
http://lisapetrarca.blogspot.com/2010/10/jullien-herrera-in-flaunt-john-varvatos.html
A great photo. The girl wears and ambiguous expression. From her clothes, it's difficult to place her in a particular time period.,,this is what I love the most!
http://www.cicidi.com/
I absolutely adore this to pieces. I would so wear this. However, I doubt it would look as gorgeous on me. As mentioned, the unfinished hemline, the shoe/sock combination, her messy bedhair, the simple jewelery - all of it fits so perfectly. I love how her outfit set the picture - it's so serene, almost. My favourite look of yours at the moment.
I sooooooooo very often picture myself to look this chic. Why can't it happen?? Loving this look!
She looks absolutely wonderful.
Very special
This is Helena Bonham Carter on Gnocchi!
www.jrocomedy.blogspot.com
Yes. All of her in all of it.
I love this look. I feel the vibration of Vivian Westwood somewhere close around. Love the hair, the dress, the sandals, and yes (Can't believe I'm says this) the socks.
I wish the sock thing wasn't happening, but it is. Been there, done it, and its oh so wrong. But this woman makes it work.
Loving her hair.
http://yoonji-park.blogspot.com
bellisimo!!!
love love love, though she is channeling a bit of the witch inside.
www.greeneggsandglam.blogspot.com
What an interesting woman. I too agree that socks and strappy heels are tacky. Reminds me of trying to dress myself at age 4.
www.theafeminada.blogspot.com
Hello,
She looks like Helena Bonham Carter. Really nice!!!
kisses from Brazil*

amazing outfit. love the belt.
have a nice day! ☺
love how she combined black and brown...

i like everything about this. because she makes the whole look rock. and love the way her hair color picks up the brown accents in her accessories. nice use of color and shape.
Socks and heels again! Amazed a how many people try it, and at how many pull it off.
The hair and the skirt make this look is bit too crazy, but that's what fashion is all about! Taking risks!
http://red-soledfashionista.blogspot.com/
I LOVE HER EDGY YET CLASSIC LOOK!!!! THE HAIR IZ WHAT GIVEZ IT THAT I'M NOT TRYING EFFECT!!!! VERY INTENSE LOOK IN HER EYEZ!!! VERY STUNNING!!!!
Gorgeous!
http://shop.ricketyrack.com/
where is her other foot?
Love everything about her - the hair, she dress, the neckpiece, the shoes and even the socks! Everyone who says black and brown don't go well together, check this girl out. Ah perfection!
Yes, yes, YES.
Love her eye: form, texture, attitude. She's got it all. Vintage and of-the-moment. All.
This girl looks with a glamour, in it there is a feature, I love this style!!!))) Beautiful post.
This is so beautiful.
Such a fresh departure from shorter hemlines of season's passed
I love every detail about her! She looks amazing
Interesting juxtaposition of frayed and sleek ... sort of distressed, understated, elegant goth poet.
I think the key unlocks her enigma. How do you do that, Scott? Find the fascinating person at the perfect moment, seemingly every time? You've got some serious photographic zen juju going on.
Black and brown together is love.
Can't pull off the socks w/ heels combo personally, but enjoy seeing it done with such assurance and panache.
Gorgeous Outfit! and fab photo :) x
wonderful girl with a wonderful look in a wonderfful pic!

Black silhouette! always rocks for me
I really love the unfinished skirt !!
http://mertxehernandez.blogspot.com/
Follow me if you like what you see
Love her twist on the long skirt, her hair makes it look so now!
http://www.lapetitemarmoset.blogspot.com
Simplistic elegance with a touch of edge and chic with the black and minor details, frayed hem and the hair. Absolutely love it.
it seems like fake , not good .
And people tell me NOT to wear brown with black. Just like this girl, I think you can!

Ok, so I have this question I've been meaning to ask for a long time:
Are these women you photograph just regular ones you happen to see or look for on the streets of the cities you visit? Or are they models?
Because the clothes I've seen on some of them baffled me. I mean that in the very best of ways. I am extremely impressed if all these gorgeous women you find are simply there by accident.
Wow! I love her presence. Beautiful portrait.
The fringe of her dress matches her hair, very clever.
Wow. Just... wow. The skirt is perfection, especially with the line created by the socks & shoes (it'd work with old-school granny boots, too). And the hair, the posture, the overall vibe... as Tatjiana Ciza says above, she looks like a punk-rock ballerina; I'd add that there are twists of goth and tribal in there too.
I see very few photos that make me think, "Damn, I wish I looked like that." This one does.
So elegant...
I found this shot especially inspiring because I'm currently growing out a pixie cut, and her jagged, mussed 'do is an amazing way to rock in between cuts. xx!
http://examplegiven.typepad.com
this, to me, looks like a sweeney todd or tim burton-esque look. how wondrous! women like this compel me to take a second look at my wardrobe.
beautiful! that's style!
elle est sublime !
I really like this look!
fighterbeat.blogspot.com
Beautiful eyebrows
wow, the balance created by the lines created by her hair and the bottom of her dress..amazing
Very sweet - definitely has an element of Edward Scisorhands about it!
i love her skirt!
http://lolamipezhamuerto.blogspot.com/
This really looks good to me. Kind of 1984 - been there and done that with the rough-edged stuff. Very appealing.
The Clever Pup's Paris Notebook. www.cpparisnotebook.blogspot.com
I love her shoes? they looks like Chie Mihara style! Doesn't it?
amazing look! breathless
The raw edge lends so much character to the outfit...her hair is so cool too.
www.fashion-feline.blogspot.com
i love it! her shoes and her skirt are amazing.
I'm absolutely bewitched.
Thr brdt... for a long while ! Well caught !!
she looks great and the angle makes it kooky...Helena Bonham Carter in a Burton film about a gorgeous whimsical girl who hops about on one very well shod foot?
Her ring makes everything work
gosh, is she selling some vegi? I didn't know farmer could wear like this, so cool!
Look great style with dress shoes, elegant appearance
