i DIE for it :))
xo.

LOVE the single button cuff on the jacket!
Love that shade in his suit and the shoes are great!

Chic, yes. Happy, ummm. Love the loafers and what a perfect haircut.
That he definitely is.
Can I say the light is just wonderful? I do love shooting at shows because of the light, I have to say.

yus!
He has good ankles. I suppose that helps.
you can almost hear what he's thinking. excellent angle!
Chic but a little too serious !! :-)
Personally, I'm not a fan of suit sans socks. Shame, actually, it ruins an otherwise brilliant look.
Love this! So simple yet so extremely elegant and sexy.
looove the short pants

http://lekisskiss.blogspot.com <-- Texas gal bloggin fashion from NYC!
loeve the trousers.
I think if I were wearing that (and if I were a man!), I would be a bit happier than he looks!
www.styleisalwaysfashionable.blogspot.com
He has glorious ankles. So looking forward to the: 'what? no socks!' comments.
I quite like the no sock look, but I personally HATE how it feels. I wonder how people do it all day!

Great man! :)

Very unconventional choice, not wearing any socks!
But chic nonetheless!!

Love the patch pockets on the 50's suit. Claudia Rossi of DNA Groove has done a 60's Mod suit with patch pockets. Way Cool -HK
Those italian they really do master the art of Chic!

-diary of a fashion stylist-
I like the single button cuff. Nice detail.
Mr Tonchi always looks dapper - very pleasing on the eye.
I also like the lady in the picture too, is she Joanna Coles? simple and chic, and loving the bag!
do you ever come to miami?
cute as a button, pinch his lil cheeks! ox
Isn't it funny how going sans socks elevates your chic factor by a million points?
Call Me Ishmael
That girl sat behind him taking notes looks cute..
too chic !

first
i like the look of the shoes without socks, but i promise my feet would be bleeding, it doesn't matter how good the shoe is.
no socks! at first i was afraid, i was petrified...but it actually works
http://adorablydeliciouslp.blogspot.com/
**
he may be "chic" for some tastes but his choice of a naked Kim Kardashian for a fashion magazine was disastrous.
yay, first to comment...again. Anyway, did you simply put this up because he's not wearing any socks? Because other than that, he seems pretty average. Oh, and I think he'd look loads better if he had some dark socks on.
very chic indeed!!!
http://dandy-elizar.blogspot.com/
No socks with dress shoes (and sneakers) is such a pet peeve of mine >_< Why would such a fashionable man do that?
Love the way he's tied his tie.
yum
His tie is to die for. Love it.
Is that chic?
in the gentleman's defense, he might be wearing little nylon socks. =)
i love how he is so professional on top but relaxed and casual with his lack of showing socks.
Scott, what show is he watching? He doesn't appear to be liking it very much (face & body language-crossed arms)...Hmmmm, penny for his thoughts.
http://bowlofinspiration.blogspot.com
Yes, that's Joanna Coles, Editor-in-Chief of Marie Claire, next to the sans socks guy in the photo. :)
Classy.

I love that he's twitching his foot. He totally looks like a high-class, fast-paced city fellow.
Impecable. un Dandy

No socks! That's definitely the focal point of this photo! Funny how that is...
http://red-soledfashionista.blogspot.com/
How it should be done!!!!
I'm completely obsessed with your sight now. :( His ankles are amazing...ahaha and I think he's so stern looking because he's studying each detail of what's on the runway.
.. love it all, he looks great ... could argue too great ... but still ... suit, loafers, tie, hair, crossed legs, good ankles ... good package, even the "pose"
I wanna look cool in dress shoes sans socks, but it seems like a recipe for blisters!
www.jrocomedy.blogspot.com
I would never wear my business attire to the beach. It would be hot, sand would get in my heels...
Nor would I forget my socks with my business attire. The suit's fabric is beautiful. I would like to reach out and rub it between my thumb and forefingers. The "hip" sockless vibe doesn't seem to lend the proper respect that the fine fabric deserves
I do love the suit and I also love the no socks look. Perhaps the suit needs to be more casual to get away with the no socks look here. I like the idea though. Great capture Scott
LOx
Why does everyone assume he isn't wearing socks?
I would bet cash money that with those lovely shoes he is indeed wearing socks. I show ankle all the time and I wear "no show" cotton blend socks. I would never dream of going sock-less in a pair of expensive shoes.
chic and chic ))) herein there is all unique taste!!!
Gentlemanly perfection.. nuff said!
Angels Point of View
doesn't he look smart. and the ankle showing woo gives it that rebelious youthful edge.
His crossed leg reveals why sockless is not a choice for business attire.
I'd rather not be forced to observe whether a male colleague's shins are hairy, hairless, shaved, wrinkled, freckled, whatever.
TMI.
How is it possible that the omission of socks can make a man look so good?
The no socks look doesn't seem to fit tis fine business suit. Perhaps if the sit were a lighter color, a different fabric, and outdoors.
Otherwise, he strikes me as showing too much leg, even though he seems to shave. ;)
I LOVE THE GENTZ SUIT BUT I'VE NEVER BEEN A FAN OF SHOEZ WITH NO SOCKZ!!! JUST NOT MY CUP OF TEA!!! HOWEVER, FRONT ROW AT A FASHION SHOW IT DOEZ MAKE A STATEMENT
Stefano! You look like a prince! A prince with no socks. With shoes like that, who needs socks?
www.underemployedistheneworganic.com
Definitely socks needed when a classic suit and tie are worn. Dress down the suit and yes--the no sock look can be great.
BTW--the suit is a wonderful colour, and the black shoes go perfectly.
sock-less and chic!
xx
NO SOCKS! this was very cool in de late 60's/early '70's. But.... nobody seemed to understand it and thought I looked very poor!!!
Where in the world is it hot enough to leave the sock drawer untouched mid-October? I want a plane ticket to there.
this guy looks like all business.
rad cuff buttons!
http://jimjims.net
He looks very serious!
I love her dress and moccasins worn barefoot, so elegant!
biz
caro from geneva
Mere (and easy) iconoclasm!
Actually on the fringe of obscenity...
All the more the outfit is indeed of a rare elegance :-(
love!!
http://malibuananas.blogspot.com/
I would prefer he wear a pair of socks. That would complete the suit.
great class
love his outfit very classy

what a elegant man! wow!

I perfer it with socks!!
LA MONA SE VISTE DE SEDA

Fantastico! Muy chic!
This man's so simple but so chic, love this outfit
love your blog Scott, you're fantastic
have a great day
www.tokyoblondes.blogspot.com
Bespoke personified. Simply chic.
Big fan of the no-socks trend; just compare to the gentleman next to him, their suits are somewhat similar but he's wearing socks and that somehow defaltes the chic factor.
great suit
He REALLY needs some nice socks.
oh no! no socks? no, no, no. don't like :(
I lvoe the "classic-fresh" style of this genius..... AN dabout this pic I think that his legs and the complex images of them without socks and the beautiful shoes is amazing!!!
http://fashiondoesntexist.blogspot.com/
What exquisite ankles he has! I don't blame him for showing them off.
That's so MJ. But no socks, original :)
xoxo
http://noumias-papers.blogspot.com/
why so much hype about no socks? the real winner here is the suit. Great colour, fantastic cuff detail, nice skinny lapels complemented by nice tie with cool knot. The loose pockets lend it a casual feel, but not sure how that works with the skinny lapels...
so elegant and well groomed.
suit is beautifully made..right down to the buttoned cuffs.
the look is perfection for the fashion industry.
the no socks might not work as well on wall street.
Loafer socks make your feet feel a lot better with this look..
One button cuff on the jacket looks awesome.
No socks? Yeah! Looking as cool as he does, he totally pulls it off!
It is amazing how effortless and chic European people, men and women, always are... and I'm from Europe but perhaps living in North America has robbed me some of that style talent or perhaps I never had it.
.. good point, look at the man next to him ... certainly not interesting ... or chic ... and P.S. I find today that good shoes made with good leather interiors are no problem without socks .. no blisters
I'm in love with his suit, very chic indeed. I'm just not a fan of this type of suit w/o socks... it throws me off a bit.
I think only one other person noticed that the pockets are rather casual? Notice how they're interestingly oversized versus the smaller lapels?
I love the suit, with the skinny lapels and the one button at the sleeve. It looks very modern. I also like the white shirt with it, although it harkens back to the '50's, it's modern because of the skinny collar and the way the tie is worn. It's a great look. Forget about the socks.
"Pretty" ankles and knows it ...this kind of vanity in a man is unbecoming.
where is so chic???a man with a perfect dress as this,in a particular situation whitout long dark socks is never chic!!!in case you're on the beach or you're riding a bycicle it's ok.
Love everything except the fact that he is not wearing socks.
So dapper. Have to appreciate a man who can rock a clean cut suit.
too feminine, unless that's what you meant by "chic"
I love my boss!!! (L)
He's got the look but it's all about his body language - crossed arms, crossed legs, crossed expression - all leave me cold. In my opinion, it takes more than beautiful clothes to make style.
I think I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for guys in dress shoes with no socks and he's no exception.
So stern a look can only come from feet perspiring in very expensive shoes.
My dream job...
www.mensstyle101.blogspot.com
It all resides in the look of either contempt or extreme interest...
Love no socks...but, I'm sure that cannot be comfortable
www.thestatementpiece.blogspot.com
this bro has some wicked ankles
Beautiful suit with patch pockets, thin tie etc. I know what he's going for. However, clothing is about balance. The trouble with the "Sixties" re-do is ,unless you waist is under thirty-three inches and you're under thirty-three, you can't, in general wear this look. Also if your head is big, small lapels and short pants will exascerbate this white man's burden.
he's got it!
the-stylish-citizen.com
Too bold-faced for a serious occasion.
That case, I think, he would wear socks. The lack of it, breaks the connnatural elegance of this man.
As for me...
Am I the only one put off by the amount of ankle in this shot? Sorry..
no socks <3
o this is chic only i dont realy like the color grey i prefer black but this looks nice to. and no socks kind of cool :)
one thing i noticed the handkerchief in one of the pockets is square instead of triangler or is that normal? just wondering.
nice outfit!
check out my fashion blog at http://thetalesofselfindulgence.blogspot.com
So so chic ! I love the shoes.
He is gorgeous but the ankles are a bit of an age giveaway, alas!
Looks like he's trying too hard, so it doesn't work for me. No rules to originality and fashion, true, but whatever you do, it has to look effortless, otherwise, it's not really coming from within...
Wow, no socks with that impeccable suit...the traditionalist in me says no, but I have to say, he works it!
fridayswithcilantro.blogspot.com
I know its been a trend for ages, but I still find the male ankle flash a complete turn off.
He looks great. Too bad his only pair of socks are in the wash.
(No, he is not working it. He looks silly,)
So beautifully done, except the no-sock treatment just looks overly pretentious & ridiculous at the same time - it just ruins it for me.
I can't help feeling that no-socks is a Fifth Avenue version of the resurgent Top-Sider fad. It attempts to imply a kind of breezy nonchalance, but is in fact neither breezy nor nonchalant. Like the mall kids or faux-hipsters in Top-Siders, it doesn't communicate much of anything except to verify the fact that, yes indeed, here's someone doing the no-socks thing (with apologies to the guy in this photo, who at least seems confident with himself and is giving it a try). Now if they were ultra-subtle velvet slip-ons, we'd be on to something!
Ok, enough about the socks already!
Great early 60's inspired suit with thin lapels, patch pockets and pockets square. I'm guessing single button to match the cuff buttons (nice twist). Lovely grey fabric, at that time 90% of men would have had their main suit in this colour but less so now - great to see it back!
Critical Thinker makes a good point that few guys could pull this cut off well, but having seen several of Scott's shots of Stefano, Stefano knows he can and does.
Lovely shoes - a style easy to find in the UK.
I'd like to think Stefano has a Vespa parked outside!
A great shot for us sartorial guys, thanks Scott - more please!
Give this guy some socks!
Are those socks Italian?
I don't know what is it about italian grown up men in suit wearing sockless loafers. They look very smart until you get to their feet. Is like they got dressed in the dark or forgot about something this morning. And as far as I can observe, only italians do it. Is that then the ultimate trend? Aren't your feet cold in winter guys?
Personally, I would refrain from using the word "chic" when talking about somebody who "forgets" socks at home... Let's use the word "cool" or "extravagant"!
I think he's a little off the mark going sockless. Also, his necktie is a bit bland. I'd expect a little more.
like the entire outfit!....but, no socks the 12th October?,mmmmm......
Why can't grown men remember to put on socks? Bare feet are the ultimate insult to beautiful shoes.
Sock-less, eh? Bold!!
No socks? I don't get it. Of course I don't get baseball or Kangol hats worn backwards, dropped crotch pants, droopy drawers either. They all look stupid.
Love everything about his look!
No socks looks nice during the summer. But for the fall... uh... I just don't know... a bit too trendy for me.
Love his suit, but I think his lapels are too slim. It just looks odd.
But I am in love with his shoes.
I don't like the "no-socks" thing at all in this picture. Not with a tie and not with those shoes.
"No-socks" should be reserved for dock shoes, sandals, and canvas sneakers.
don't like the shoes. they're boring. nice suit though
Too much ankle for a man. I personally am not diggin it. Wannabe Don Draper sans 60 lbs. Yawn?
shows were not good . There are also more tips in this mycouponbasket.com. I personally get my coupons online, it is much more convenient and ever best.
This "no-sock" look is unflattering and absolutely silly.
When will this end...?
SECRET SOCKS? Let's give credit where it's due; Style Icon Stefano Tonchi is a well-put-together man!
Clearly he forgot his socks when he was shaving/waxing his legs. Oh, and killer suit.
People don't wear socks in Milan.
put on some socks
To me this looks utterly boring.
The suit seems of excellent material and I'd even go with the colour, but the tie kills everything.
The only thing worse dressed than him is the man sitting to the right. He was thinking, you can't go wrong with grey and stripes, right. Right?
Btw he's not barefoot, he's wearing shoeliners that show in the picture (unless I'm wrong)
...
Business speaking, men are very scared to experiment and think that boring is stylish.
But I love the woman to the left, her handbag is great and I would like to see her shoes.
I really didn't like this "no socks" look when I first saw it, but it stuck in my mind and I ended up being inspired by it in my outfit yesterday. I cuffed my jeans and wore ankle socks that just peeked out of my shoes, you wouldn't be able to see them unless you looked closely. The over all effect was the same, but applied to a casual woman's outfit. Seems to be more of a European and male trend, but it was really fun to do something I have never done before; it felt fresh in NY. My ankles did get really cold, it was 50F outside >_<
Nice outfit! Not the best choice of shoes though...the lack of socks not such a great idea for a business outfit..but I guess he simply can't get enough of his own ankles!
Very Dapper! looks sharp.
ooh, dang. those pants.
No to NO SOCKS. It just looks weird on a man.
No socks is great look. You can have it all year long and with confort by buing very tiny an invisible socks made for men like the ones women use to wear. You can find them at Galleries Lafayette in Paris.
