incredible collection...amazing shots

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:14 AM) :

I also loved the collection!

He used the same ingredients that he used for the Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer collection: printed silk, seventies vibe and loooooots of Yves Saint Laurent inspiration!

Loving the final product though, it has the elegance of YSL, the sexiness of Galliano and the coolness of Marc Jacobs

The blue and purple "tiger" print is my absolute favorite. Good show.
Just wondering Scott, did you happen to get any candid shots from KL's party?

I can see the YSL influence in the colors and use of ethnic designs but the outcome seems all over the place. The Chinese-inspired outfits are, I think, particularly askew. A lot of judicious editing seems warranted.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:40 PM) :

Ehh... definitely can do much more than THAT with the chipao motif. I'd even consider it unoriginal.

Interesting with the Chinese influence in the qipao-like dress and top. Lovely.

Blogger Victoria said ... (6:38 PM) :

I think MJ OD-ed on purple this season in his collection and LVs. Another purple jumpsuit? And what was with the embellished panda face?

...The only 2 themes I liked looking at overall were the flapper dresses and the lacy LV patterned knickers I thought that was interesting. Other than that I thought it looked like Chinoiserie gone wrong--I'm disappointed I had just started to love what he was doing after hes LV fall 2010 collection...but you gotta give him credit for such evolution every season. Just have never been a big fan.

Blogger jessfozz said ... (2:12 AM) :

Love the 5th shot down. The line of the leg first caught my eye, but after a moment of observation the more interesting part of the shot is the stillness (which lead to crispness) of the orange clutch.

So...there is so much inspiration from others here and little from Marc Jacobs. Guy Bourdin comes to me mind when i see these images....fashion seems to forget very quickly that´s the reason why almost nobody noticed the lack of imagination present here.

Blogger 82Brute said ... (9:24 AM) :

This seems like two separate collections to me. Top few have a real 1970s Studio 54 vibe. The colors and fabrics are so beautiful. Very body conscious. The belted knit dresses and the crazy high slit on the geisha dress are so so sexy. But then we move into the balloony jumper and the tiger stripe which aren't as interesting and the relationship to the earlier pieces begins to transition until we get to the bottom black and whites which don't seem to relate to the first photos at all, though I can see how he got there. The last grouping puts me right into the Nicole Miller New York 80s. It's very Long-Island- powerwife-lunching-at -Tavern -on- the- Green. I love the hair and makeup on the models. They look like they're made out of wax. The severe-looking blonde model in front on the bottom picture looks like something out of Bladerunner. Really amazing.

Anonymous Christina said ... (11:01 AM) :

I love the combination of the old-school glamour and 70s inspired pieces. Genius!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:18 PM) :

I do love that your pictures are extremely well made . That want to flatter a collection that is just *passe* in itself. Even the Make Up is outdated and feels already from last season.

I was in awe when MJ started desingning from LV, his firsts collections where so chich , polishes luxury and uber classy, like the way I felt when Philo started at Celine.

Yet Jacobs for some reason has stopped that and gone for a more popular / comercial line. This collection is all over the place is not consistent as he shows a few lines in one show

1- Easters dresses that we already seen a few years a go when Moss used to wear them are not creative just lazy in my huble opinion.

2- Flapper sweet dresses that are ok but nothing to be in love about

3 - Spanish inspired lace with fans that failed to capture any magic or skill for LV. The tops used almost like Prada done before under a hot pant or a skirt using transparencies

4-PJ's / Kimonos in blocks of Fluor. Lv doesn't need to follow the trends.

I just do not like what Jacobs is doing for Vuitton , I see LV as a brand that is chic, classy exquisite and unique and this is commercial , easy , repetitive and feels cheap. Maybe he wants to work for the new * Russian Nouveau Riche's Lovers* .

Maybe next years we will see a collection of models dress from head to toe with the LV logo all over , a bit like what Chavs did to Burbberry...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:16 AM) :

Lovely clothes, scarey women. The first one in the last picture has a head that is almost a skull. The woman in the second to last picture has such a slender thigh it doesn't seem thigh like at all. Their eyes don't show any joy at all. That is sad.

Anonymous Kristen said ... (12:14 PM) :

Wow, I can't hop on board with loving this. Sorry... It's probably just a personal preference, but the women in these pictures look terrifying. It's almost like Halloween! The first one in the last photo looks like a Halloween decoration, not like a beautiful woman. I know it's just the makeup, but I'm definitely not sold. There's no warmth or beauty in any of these looks, in my humble opinion.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:44 PM) :
