The Role Model - Angela Ahrendts

Angela gave me my first real job when I arrived in New York over 20 years ago.

She is an absolute star to me.

If you're thinking about getting into the business side of fashion, Angela Ahrendts should be your role model.

Last weekend The Wall Street Journal Magazine published a great profile on Angela. Here is the link Earning Her Stripes

I consider Angela my mentor from my days working with her in the same company. She was instrumental in my career and I will forever remember working with her as the best experience in the industry. She is such an inspiration and a true leader. I was so happy to see what a wonderful recognition she's getting. So well deserved!

Definitely someone to look up to. I'm a photographer, but also a lawyer, so have read about her a lot in the business press. You are privileged to have had someone like her in your corner. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for the link. I'm in the business side of fashion and love it! I can't wait to read this.

On another note, I saw you at Garance's FNO party at Jil Sander and I was to meek/shy to say hello... Sometimes when I admire someone's work (in this case two people's work) i don't want to ruin it with a chance encounter. Ah, I'm an odd girl...

Thank you so much for this post. It's very heartwarming to see important people recognizing their mentors and admitting that they, too, once needed help getting started.

I read her commencement speech at her alma mater Ball State, it's pretty inspiring. Thanks for pointing her out to me....she is a great role model.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:56 PM) :

Though I'm not thinking about getting into the business side of fashion, that would be a massive disaster, it was an insightful article to read.

The symbiosis of creativity and business is what makes the fashion world so interesting I think.

This profile knocked my socks off. Ahrendts' comment, "never waste a good recession," absolutely slayed me. I can't remember the last time I felt so inspired and in awe of another business leader in this industry, absent of Wen Zhou.

Anonymous Thais Barros said ... (1:00 PM) :

I was looking up for her when I found your post from her, which I missed back in September.
She sounds amazing, and I read an article about her and plans for Burberry in Brazil, and I got so excited... I lived in London , studied fashion at Istituto Marangoni, and now I am back in Brazil, working for a small magazine. Working for her in Burberry sounds like a dream... Would you be kind enough to send me her assistant's email so I can send her my CV, please?
I know this request sounds crazy, but I have been sending my CV for Burberry via website, and never got a reply.
Well, It doesnt hurt to try!
Thank you so much for your attention, and for your inspiring images! - Thanks for sharing it! It has been a worldwide tool for fashion research! Great eye!
Kind Regards,
Thais Barros
