I love it and want one!!!!
Unique for sure.
Like a country girl , great !
It is the mood and the attitude I love about this look.. so vibrant!!!
LOVE the dress & belt looks great with it. Beautiful shot.
Cute dress!
love love love it!
Fabulous! I love how her clutch also has a tiny pattern in proportion to the rest of her checks!

I love it-- it's Mary Kate Olsen as a square dancer. Perfect juxtaposition of the huge sunglasses and iphone with a dress her grandmother might have worn 50 years ago.
Did you two have fun in Georgia? Can't wait to see what you may have spied in Savannah!
this is the real courage!
great personality, at least!
wow. a modern twist to square dancing! love it!
Wow!!!
A little bit country and a little bit rock n roll ;-)

que c'est beau!
After all the fashion week photos this is a breath of fresh air, and even with them it is just perfectly brilliant and hilarious at the same time.

Nice and somehow authentic.

Unique, original, special.

Welcome to the "bible belt"
The picture is a little amusing. Humorous even. She's like one of those nursery rhymes characters brought to life and left there to fend for herself.
--jared dalman
nice! very original:)
check out our fashion illustrations at http://www.illustrated-moodboard.com/ :)
she's a beauty
Seems a bit forced to be honest. I don't see any sane reason to wear that dress unless you're going to a hoedown, which she obviously isn't.
What we have here is good old fashioned irony, currently the trend among hipster folk - she's not a trend setter, just another hapless fashion victim of the decade
She really looks like a princess in that dress!!!
LITTLE FIVE POINTS YAAAAYYYYY!!
and I agree with someone just above me...aside from my love for the place, actually one of your top photos I think.
Lovely!
WHAOUUUUU
Fun to see, and different from the usual NYC street style. I wonder if she's garbed like that for a competition/exhibition, or just as a style statement.
The square dancing units in gym class would have been much more fun if we'd been able to wear these twirly skirts instead of our pleat-front jeans and white Keds! (Teenager of the 90s, here.)

awesome
have a nice day! ☺
she is amazing for this
that picture is fantastic. love the lean

love this photo!!
http://unefilleunreve.blogspot.com
It's like a clash of eras: on the one hand there's the dress, and on the other there's the sunglasses and the phone. Love it!
she's funny!
Very original country and romantic style worn with no fear :-)
brave girl!
http://verychiclist.blogspot.com/
ohh myy this is too adorable!!
if only people wore stuff like this everyday :)
http://thinkdish.weebly.com/
how fun would life be?
I am in love.
hello cowgirl in the sand
is this place at your command?
Love the belt, too.
sorry, to me this just looks terrible - the dress is wearing her, big time...
and it is just not flattering to her in any sense - from skintone to her legs...
I have to give her props for being so bold, no doubt about that and I love the hair and the shades too.
Love her right down to the side ponytail. The dress is so different and perfect for dancing. x

Dude, I WENT to L5P to see if I could find you! You had already left, I guess! This is right by Aurora Coffee.. .I recognize the trash can and post anywhere! Yes, it's a bit of a hipster/ironic fashion statement... I prefer some of the other stuff I see around
L5P. Can't wait to see your other posts from ATL...
This put a smile on my face this morning! Thank you!
It was so great to see both you and Garance in Atlanta! This photograph is wonderful--I love the natural lighting reflecting off her golden locks.
I hope to see some magical shots from Savannah as well!
What a fabulous shot! Funny, when most of us look at black and symmetry in our style....just perfect....thanks
L
you're so so great

i love your blog....

This is Atlanta. People dress like this all of the time here... especially in VaHi and Little 5 (which is where this was taken). Nothing forced about it.
Thanks for visiting, SS. You're welcome back anytime.
Too much to be really wearable, but each one has different style.
Same vibe as the cosplay kids in Tokyo's Harajuku district. Not particulary country, definitely not Southern - but it is a hoot to read some of the impressions your readers have of life in the Deep South. Travel is the best educator, but you have to get off of the main road occasionally.
Fantastic!
I LOVE this!

I grew up cloggin' and wearing outfits just like this. Not sure if she is really a clogger or square dancer, but growing up in a small town in South Carolina - this does not look at all forced. It looks like a weekend at the fair or local hoedown. This past weekend they held the Aynor hoedown in SC and I am sure you would have found many of these girls. The only difference would have been the shoes!
Thanks for reminding me of growing up in the South!
poooof! this is so adorable and uniqueee :D
kisses from the philippiness!!!!

Beautiful composition in this photo. Even the colours of some of the graffitti match/tone well with the colours of the dress. Like the juxtaposition of the vibrant, happy, fairytale outfit with the cool, no-nonsense pose + sunglasses and phone in the street setting. The boots are a good colour that complements her hair colour very nicely.
The juxtaposition is funny. My mac loaded the pic a little slow and all I could see at first was her head and the cell phone. Then I saw the rest of her outfit and it threw me for a loop.
So looks so interesting, unique and awesome!
Love her!
What a wonderful composition - photography and outfit-wise.
Fun, exciting, and free. Makes me want to play. Warmly,Karen
I was looking at her watch and ring, worn on her pointer finger. I thought she looked pretty hip.
i love the graffiti and the vans sticker on the garbage can. You've all this contemporary stuff, then the girl's dress. cool.
I don't like it but it's funny.Good for a grey day.
nice boots
awesome!!! I love her style:)
wonderful shot
Reminds me of Avril Lavigne...but a nicer version, lol.
Great!
I look at this and am reminded of Ralph Lauren's Spring 2011 runway show, which featured a strong dose of western inspired looks.
www.thesluicebox.com
unbelievable .... i love this pic ..
so much to see, so much inspiration for me...
and for the next fashion week in milano..
OMG, the Dress of my Dream 8-)
OMG, the Dress of My Dream 8-)
The colors are wonderful, the lighting out of this World.
Looks like she's into vintage, no doubt. Her belt is a great touch. Beautiful photograph Scott, morning light is the best.
Atlantans are so artistic and eclectic. I love this part of the South.
she looks like she is wearing a costume from a holliday here in Brazil.
Stunning A-line dress with playful petticoat.I just want to make her circle around. later, FashionLifeCoach
Stellar!
Head to toe...

ouah cette robe est incroyable
cool dress.

Original dress, she is so funny !
http://elleandco.blogspot.com
Love the flounce of her dress and her idea to pair a dress that's been boxed into a certain era with modern accessories in a mismatching style! Genius!
Don't you ALL realise that this is a dance COSTUME???!!!!! of course its COUNTRY -read the title -its for a square-dance! So if she were wearing a cowboy uniform from a Bar-B-Que restaurant everyone would think she is fashion-forward and bravely stylish? WOW. Great depth of field and lighting Sart.
I love that kind of dresses! And this one is amazing!!
Halloween. Not cute at all.
LIke a German bartender)) but very sweet

And please, - MAKE ME STYLISH!
I am in love w/ this picture. Everything about it just pulls you in. Scott- what a great talent you are. Thanks for sharing.
Follow the White Rabbit...
she looks really amzing!
<3
Sass-A-Frass !!!!
wooow! It just look perfect! I want that haircolor, that dress and those shoes!
I love it...fab dress
Not just anyone could pull this off, but she does. It's nice to see someone having fun with her clothes.
Fun, exciting & above all, unexpected in the surroundings!
http://youngsophisticates.blogspot.com
Original, modern and.....brave, for sure.
www.bomsensoemformadegente.blogspot.com
that is truly a bible belt!
definitely eye catching outfit.
Wow. That's not something you see everyday. I love her twist on traditional though...
fridayswithcilantro.blogspot.com
Wow, that anyone call pull that dress off is incredible. It's amazing how personality can come through so strongly in a dress .. I suppose a picture is worth a thousand words.
beutiful bellissimo sto vestito country
I smiled at this! (I also thought - Lindsey Lohan???)
I love how her attitude is not at all what you'd imagine when you think of square dancing. The accessories - hair, sunglasses, cellphone, clutch, the shoes - even the setting are a complete contrast to the dress! I just love it all! You are brilliant at capturing moments that are so significant and speak volumes about our current culture!
www.kristinemays.com
... Yep, it's pretty special ... no question ... how do you get these people to actually stand still long enough and look so cool?
NICE! Looks like you were in Little Five Points.
so adorable! :)
Great look!!! She looks awesome ~
I love the dress I need one in my life!
gingham, floral, large watch and glasses and best of all a HUGE full skirt. super look this look!
To me it looks just too much. Would never ever wear that, unless as a costume.
The colors are great, the proportion, the whole combination. But still looks like a costume.
Sart is in the A! The dress and boots are killing it! Good job.
windowshop78.blogspot.com
looks like "alice in wonderland meets (insert country singer)".
this look, to me, is almost not believable. although it is a breath of fresh air, it almost looks like a costume and tomorrow we'll see her dressed in casual wear.
She's flouncing her way into autumn. Ridiculously playful, hilariously girlish and comical.
OMG, she's got such a fabulous dress!
fabulous! this is why i check this site everyday, religiously, there is so much that is wonderful about this photo, from her attitude to the graffiti, and everything in between!!!
LiLo!!! If only she stayed home and went to church like a good girl. And...took square dancing lessons instead of stripping. *sigh* Like the watch/sunglasses combo.
This is fun! Where's this photo? Virginia Highlands?
Not for me, but she does look very unique.
great photo

Barbie dolls never had a dress quite like this! Matel (or whoever makes Barbie dolls) should hire the person.

i agree, very unique! she looks so sweet and innocent. I love the pattern on it and I love the boots too. The dress reminds me of dorothy from the wizard of oz mixed in with a maypole dancer on may day!!!

I love crinoline under skirt! I've got something like this on ebay right now...ID lilasells
How cute! I love the layers the dress has, it's so fun!

Well, for the Mean girls out there.
This is no costume. She is my Square Dance partner and G/F!!!
We have another class tonite at the elderly center. Quite fun.
Let loose and hang with some Old folks. They are a fun bunch.... Hell... Square dancing is all they have left in life.
You are Simply beautiful! Proud of you too!
She's cool. period.
I love that the South is getting a taste of the sartorialist!! One of the most amazing outfits ever.
www.citizette.com
YAY Little 5! Great shot and not a shocking outfit at all for the area. Scott - how about New Orleans next?
haha love this outfit!she looks cute!

Doe-See-Ohhhhhh...
"Shades and a cell phone, two bits..."
She's a stunner. The sun on her hair is like a halo and with the cross at the belt buckle I know I am seeing an angel.
That's a really cool shot!!
http://alafemme.blogspot.com
Now, if she was wearing Vans and balancing a skateboard...hmmm.
She's not being ironic. She's lovely and probably likes where she lives and was bought up, as she should. She may be re-interpreting a traditional costume somewhat, but that doesn't mean she's being disdainful. She's local, without being provincial. There are so few southerners featured on here. I love it.
ah, i love this. the composition of the photo is brilliant, and the ensemble is very unique. i do hope that you will post more savannah/atlanta pictures...
Wow! I love this. It's kind of cartoonish and satirical, with elements at odds with one another (New Yorker in a square dancing dress?); but for me, it works! I find her 'gitup' quite appealing.
a litlle bit of country style but love it!
best:)

So glad you came to Atlanta! If I had to guess I would say this is right outside of Aurora Coffee. Hope you come back again!
I (and most others) couldn't pull that off but she does!
Great capture! Glad you made it down to ATL and glad to have gotten the opportunity to meet you!!!
This image tells a thousand stories.
I'm intrigued!
x
I think this is the technical definition of "dudette."
amazing photo.
Love this!!!!
I don't really like it. Its not that flattering. The boots make her legs look funny. The dress itself is nice, and so are the glasses but the boots kill it.
designers are genius and I can not draw my eyes away
this outfit screams BARN-DANCE!!
Too much dress for this pretty dixie chick
I love the juxtaposition of country and urban touches in this photograph.
This. Is. Great.
Lolita???
Is this Lindsay Lohan?
a modern country girl.. AMAZING!!
http://sweetlittleconfessions.blogspot.com/
I thought the same thing, Lohan...
Love the graff on the pole and the Vans advertising, such a quirky shot.
this shot is fantastic...It's great how she looks so country but the background in the photo is so urban. I love when fashion conflicts with its surroundings, outfits stand out more. The girl in this shot is the 'case in point.'

What the hell are you doing in Atlanta??
Great, shot, Scott.
divine frock, really great.
yikes
great dress!
very romantic!!
How she pulls that off is beyond me, but heck, she looks good.
listen, just because you slaves to fashion can't imagine yourselves wearing anything that isn't tailored and black doesn't mean that this lady's dress isn't stylish in its own way. this girl is wearing what she likes, and wearing it well (in my opinion). everyone's definition of style is different, just because it's not something you can imagine yourself in doesn't mean it's "forced" or "too much". heaven forbid a person has such a vibrant personality that they can't hide it behind "trendy" and expected clothing.
LP5!! I don't agree with a lot of the above comments, many people dress like this around Little 5 Points and VaHi, she looks great!
She's pretty ! Love her baby doll dress <3
xoxo

cool dress!!
so vintage!!

c'est fantastique
OK, you've gone too far. This gal looks like she stole her mother's tablecloth. She even took the napkins (see collar).
She appears so comfortable in this getup- love it!
I'm sorry, but although the majority of these comments are in favor of this...um..."outfit", I just have to say that I think it's god awful ugly. But, if she feels beautiful in it, then good for her. Fashion should make you feel good. :)
Wow. I lived there for 30+ years and would never have found this. You certainly nailed it. Feels good to see this from so far away.
Love it all. Her dress would make want to meet her.
this photo made my day -- and right after I commented (above) that we lack style wit in the usa! clearly that was dead wrong! i <3 you, squaredance girl
seriously?....
I love the sharp edges this modern girl brings to square dancing.
50's dressing taken to the max! Awesome
www.tilleysvintage.blogspot.com
Looks like an interesting person, but the dress reminds me of Little Bo Peep
This look is very funny but the dress reminds me of my grandmother's tablecloth!
With love
Scarlett
How can you find such a girl in Atlanta!?
She looks so adorable, like a doll out of Toy Story.
Oh, I love this! even though I don't square dace, I would love to wear it!
http://lnaloft.blogspot.com/
Wow! It's amazing, seems exit by a cartoon! I will gladly wear a dress like that, just to go out for shopping. I think that the world must live on this way: with no rules of dress, without prejudice, but unfortunately there are still people who say you're crazy. But we must go beyond the trial, and appear to be what you want and it is!
great shot. Coincidentally snapped in front of one of the top spots in ATL to grab coffee & a bagel?...Mr. NY, I think not. Good find on the the young square dancer & Aurora Coffee. Salud.
Although she's in the city, she looks like she's right at home, gingham and all!
This is just one of the reasons why I love living in the south.
"A TOWN STAY DOWN!"
I absolutely adore this look! Very fun, very unique, very cute!
She just graduated for SCAD's Fashion Department. She had something interesting on every day for years.
I totally saw her in little 5 the other day and tried to take her picture with my cellphone. that's hilarious!
I'm surprised by how much I love this! I can't imagine anyone else pulling this off.
cute but is her dance costume? reminds me of Dorothy ;)
