I like the details: the bow-tie, the red sockettes and the gold of his notebook. They work well with the neutrality of his suit.

Love everything about this! The beard, the shorts, the shoes! Keep up the inspiring work, Scott!

aside from the beard, he looks like a little boy attending a wedding. Very sweet, aside from the dodgy sock choice.

The heavy shoes and hint of red socks really makes the look.

Blogger o l i v i a said ... (10:21 AM) :

ankle up, yes, beautifully suited. love the stripe of his suit and bow tie but i feel this man needs less serious shoes and better socks to match his playful attire.

Excellent, it's the red socks tat completes it for me.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:53 AM) :

What a stylish man.

It's so elegant, but the short pants make it look more relaxed.

I don't like the beard, but the rest of him is really good-looking ;)

Blogger Miss Amy said ... (10:56 AM) :

Bold! I do love the bow-tie. Not a fan of how short the shorts are. I love seer sucker suits...But something about this look screams Postal Man to me.

Blogger grace said ... (10:56 AM) :

This photo is perfect. His outfit makes me feel like he owns some magical ice-cream store or that he'll burst out into a broadway song or begin reciting poetry from his book. Classic - loving his red socks bowtie and beard combination especially :)

Blogger Claudia said ... (10:57 AM) :

What I particularly love about this outfit is the high shine of the shoes (I'm assuming they're patent, but he could be so good as to be able to give them a spit shine himself).

Being able to polish your shoes is a terribly underrated talent.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:06 AM) :

I love the cloth of the suit remind me something pretty 50's/60's!
Don't get the poppers ( as buttons!) an the little socks(???)

Anonymous elxoxodemiprima said ... (11:11 AM) :

Such a great pic ,as always.Really fantastic.I absolutely adore the way the shorts ads that touch of freshness for the summer and at same time they are a declaration of his irreverence towards the vigent men's fashion establishment.
He nearly blends himself with the surrounding colours, in an almost chamaleonic way to go without being noticed but at same time the sauciness of the socks, the lenght of his pants and the glossy shoes turn him in a statement of elegance, which can not go ignored.

Anonymous Carlo said ... (11:12 AM) :

Amazing shoes!!!
Alden???

Anonymous Alessandro said ... (11:15 AM) :

Nice to see a return to cleanliness. Very nice shoes, but the schoolboy shorts and jacket - while nice on their own - do not combine to make a good look. I would like pair of full length pants and jacket in the same color and fabric (seersucker?), but no bow tie. That said, the gentleman still looks like a gentleman and ceryaoinly exudes friendliness, polite manners and approachability.

Anonymous KatyE said ... (11:15 AM) :

Thank you! It is so delightful whenever I see someone wearing a Bermuda Suit. I'm not sure how I feel about the low socks. They are getting pretty boring at this point. But the Bermuda Suit is indeed a look that should be brought back!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:39 AM) :

Interesting. Not sure if I like the shoes with this schoolboy ensemble. Maybe some white bucks instead? Looks a bit costumey rather than naturally stylish.

I actually love this look. The red socks add a little sass to it!

Blogger kelly said ... (1:21 PM) :

This man looks like he could be a professor, or a scientist with a knack for fashion. I'm not so sure the red socks are working, but it definitely makes for an interesting look. I do, however love the bow tie, and it's not every day you see a man in a shorts suit, so he gets at least ten points for originality.

How charming - and practical.

I have been wearing this look for about 5 years now - I buy summer weight ( seersucker, etc) suits at thrift stores and then simply cut off the pant legs, and then accessories as appropriate for whatever occasion I am dressing for.
I call them my 'mini suits'

He looks like Pee Wee Herman... except this guy's serious about his look. I'm not feeling the shorts, but with long pants, he would look amazing. The beard and glasses are terrific and the shoes are great as well. I just think the look is forced—just to enough to seem costumey.

Blogger Unknown said ... (4:59 PM) :

Pinstriped, pastel shorts suit... Bowtie... glasses... Brogues and birght red ankle socks...? I am in love with this Milanese maestro. It takes someone with serious style to go for a look this 'out there' and pull it off without looking ridiculous, self-conscious or just plain stupid. This guy doesn't give a damn about trends, season, weather or what anyone else thinks. He is an inspiration to us all. X

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:51 PM) :

The fit of the suit bothers me. The jacket is short and the shorts look like they sit too far up on the waist.

Great colours though.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:58 PM) :

For those about to rock, we SALUTE you.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:05 PM) :

The hem on the shorts could have been finished better. It seems to me he cut his long pants down.

The suit/short combo highlights how difficult it is to match with the right proportion of sock and shoe. Short socks work on this guy.

He might be a nice person, but sorry. Noop. Not my idea of fashion

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:02 PM) :

Nice legs, but the suit is too matchy, matchy. And for such a youthful outfit, he'd have to lose the beard

The button exists on a shirt collar band for a purpose; it was meant to be buttoned ("Never a button without a buttonhole," Coco Chanel). A buttoned collar, however, requires impeccable fit. When a bespoke shirt is buttoned there is nothing more chic.

Ha! I love it how you scroll down and the shorts come as a surprise - I didn't expect it seeing his super polished and put together look at the top!

Really do not like this at all. I respect him for trying something new but I just don't think it works.

I appreciate this look, though I don't like it personally, if that makes any sense. Something about the bare legs looks incongruous with the rest of the outfit. The fit of the jacket is perfect. Love the bowtie. And the red shoes!!!

Wow! First time I saw this one.

Blogger no-more-wire-hangers said ... (11:32 PM) :

One of the best looks I have seen on here for a long time! Nice to break with convention. shows creativity and imagination. Nice to see he can put an idea together himself - and show a bit of his character!

Blogger Unknown said ... (8:54 AM) :

I love the raf simons shoes... and the suit is perfect, this is an example when the creativity meets the style: gorgeus!!!

p.s.: I'm sorry for my english but I don't know it very well...

I remember Yohji Yamamoto and Matsuda doing these shorts suits in the late 80s. (One of them even had a short sleeved jacket!) I thought it looked pretty awkward then, and I'm still not convinced now. To me it's counter-intuitive. I'd probably be more inclined to remove my jacket and roll up the sleeves on a hot day than to mix shorts and a jacket. But I guess it almost works on this dude because of the beard...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:08 AM) :

One has to have reasonable legs to pull this off! The dude in the picture has that.

The only thing this tike is missing is a propeller cap.

red socks with elegant, classic, black shoes is a perfect combination!
and this small, gold notebook is simple beautiful and period!
viva La Boheme! ;)

Ah, Angelo Flaccavento, the most stylish man on the planet. That said, he IS a fashion journalist (and an Italian one at that) so perhaps he should be. The thing that strikes in photos of him is that he's always alone. Which seems so sad. I'll be your bff Angelo!

Beautiful photo, as always, but mon dieu! Talk about self-emasculating! Those shorts were hemmed much too short. The shoes are lovely...just not with this suit.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:25 PM) :

Not a fan, I think he looks like he's 8 years old- a grown man in little boys clothes. I don't find it appealing.

Blogger Kevin Cashman said ... (2:42 PM) :

I think he might be hitting way too many style trends to actually be pulling this off:

- the short socks with big shoes
- the shorts as part of a suit
- seersucker
- the beard
- the red string bracelet
- the moleskin notebook

it seems to me to create the net effect of trying too hard and he looks like he might even be a little uncomfortable.

Anonymous Lola said ... (4:50 PM) :

I´m sorry. He looks sily

I kept scrolling through the comments looking for the name "Thom Browne," but I didn't see it. With all due respect to this very probably lovely man, what about his outfit, other than perhaps the gold notebook, is not straight out of Thom Browne? Honestly, I see absolutely no sense of PERSONAL style, just plenty of THOM BROWNE style.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:43 PM) :

Oh, an italian Angus Young. I like the suit, bow tie and red socks, but the shoes look two sizes too big on him and the shorts look - well, silly. A few commentors note that he is rocking a school/sunday school vibe. Its' cute on little boys, but otherwise unmanly even with the beard. It's fashion-forward and fun to see, but for me, it also a miss.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:55 PM) :

He has The I Am A Total Tit look.

Blogger Unknown said ... (6:43 PM) :

great looking man...but too much going on at once
