sooo CHIC AND TOTALLY ADORABLE!
Loving the strong colour on her.
Her shoes are very gorgeous too.

Good morning chicness!
I like your play with the colors.
Timeless and elegant.
These are both just gorgeous, but the first one is one of your most beautiful portraits.

SWELL !!!
love it!
LOve her style!
Specially those shoes are SO hot!!
Kisses from India.xx
Absolutely gorgeous! She looks like a golden age jazz singer. I want to sit her down, talk jazz and shoes, and rummage through her dress-up box.

Great to see a beautiful woman with curves following the too-thin coathanger below. Love the red and black combo in her outfit against the red door. She has gone to an effort with the details in the gloves, bag, shoes and necklace and looks really well put together.
What timeless elegance. From her gloved fingers to her red-capped toes....
some innocence portrayed in this picture.
how proud and gracefull she looks! very noble
Ah, Love her. She's got a unique sense of style. And that face of hers... sigh.
she is stunning. her hair reminds me of janelle monae.
I lvoe the shoes and the mitch of the clothes and accessories...

dont like the shoes... no go w this outfit..
I love these. Especially the last photo. Fantastic work as usual. It was good to meet you at Jil Sander, by the way.
a great definition of a Lady! -like this-

Yes! For me, vintage always works, and will never go off trend! Your vintage photo contest a few months back was such such an inspiring reference point, and women such as this really are doing it for themselves! It's fun to see all the new designer looks each season, but I always go back to my vintage to create something that amuses and suits me ! So please, more individual style (vintage or not) and less oversized blazers, pleated pants, biker-whore stilletos with those red soles, etc. - that is not personal style, that is tribal desperation!
I adore this girl. If only people could follow her wonderful example...
Gorgeous.
Very beautiful!
Her red-tipped shoes definitely make all the difference!
so so classy with the pearls...
Wow. She is absolutely beautiful. Like she stepped out of a painting.
Excellent style excellent shots! She knows how to work the proportions and the colours and is not afraid to show it.
Very nice look overall, and a gorgeous girl but there's something about the way the dress hangs from the waist down that irks me. It somehow looks ill fitting--posture maybe? Just my two cents.
I like the look, especially the dress color and all accessories. Details are powerful and mean the style.
sweet dress, but overall a little overdo on the the vintage...her face is stunning though.
Stunning pics, the palette is breathtaking.
Wow, she is really breath taking.
Absolutely stunning. I loooove the black and white -- her eyes are gorgeous. From her hair to the gloves and purse, she looks sophisticated and fun!
She looks like a film star from another era. Fabulous!
beautiful and ghlamorous
i love how the shoes match the dress!!
Trough these photos I see deep in the heart of the photographer...The perfection doesn't exist, but you are so close...
Modern, yet classic. If this was a black & white photo, it would strongly evoke the late '40s are early '50's. She is strongly reminiscent of my mom in her heyday. Therefore, she is beautiful.
I love that you've taken the first photo in black and white. I feel one of your best portraits to date, or maybe that's just me - there are so many interesting ones to choose from, something about the black and white... great work
lovely.
She's beautiful
very nice, she is beautiful and that bag is charming
She has her own, very individual style, and on top of that she's extremely physically beautiful. The only thing I'm not wowed by is her shoes, but that's pretty much by-the-by. She'd get my vote any day.
A.M.A.Z.I.N.G, so chic and timesless
that purse is precious

So elegant, so classy. Wonderful. The color looks perfect together with her skin.
What's not to love? Absolutely stunning ......love the whole look....
Seriously, what's not to love? I'm so happy with the return of "grown-up" dressing. Why shouldn't we all look so presentable when we walk out our front door? She looks elegant and poised. I adore this.

How serendipitous that she was walking against that background. This photograph is truly stunning! (her purse is also fabulous!).

can't believe how everybody is caught up in "Mad Men" madness
I <3 this outfit! The pearls, the bag, the dress! Love! Reminds me of the Louis Vuitton F/W 10 show in a bit.
Exquisite. Vintage clothes were popular long before Mad Men. The closets of our mother's and grandmothers are a fantastic source. Frankly I'm happy to see tailored clothes that fit rather than pajama bottoms with Juicy across the back.
This is gorgeous (minus the shoes & tights) but, um, the lower part of the dress doesn't look flattering on her. I really hope it was just breezy when you were taking pix of her....
Irrespective of the fashion- that black and white photo has to be the most beautiful shot you have captured to date! Composition, tone and clarity just come together perfectly.
It's like she stepped out of the 40s. Love the dress (especially the color), the choice of pearls as the accessory, the handbag is very chic and the shoes are flat out amazing.
Stunning. Heartening and moving to see such elegance and beauty
Great use of color, Scott
What a beautiful young lady. Such poise and elegance! And wonderful pictures!!
Beautiful!!!
Real style and confidence.
Love the profile pose for a change. She's very ladylike, proper and refreshing.
woww i love her hair!
she looks beauutiful :)
She is absolutely stunning, so beautiful xoxo
Gorgeous portrait, beautiful ensemble, perfect shoes.
www.thesluicebox.com
she is perfection!
She's delightful!
That's more like it.
Actually, what I find most fascinating (At least, being a photographer myself) is the contrast of reds. I love the outfit, especially the shoes, but the reds in this picture are stunning!
She´s absolutly beautifull!!!
Well, I'm not hot on the dress, it hangs funny. But I do love the photograph, and she is beautiful.
her face shot is gorgeous
WOW, beautiful colour and miraculous pictures !
i love this. shes so cute

Takes your breath away!
Stunning! Love the black gloves. Proves wearable vintage is still alive and well.
Your portrait, her beauty and soul. Wonderful.
Wow. Stunning is the word that comes to my mind. Beautiful, poised, and expressive.
Very nice! Great colours too. There is indeed something very modern in the 1950s inspiration.

A blast from the past.

Now that's what I call intrinsic style.
Stunning. ~
Absolutely stunning pic ! Thanks ! Sunny Side
Classic and beautiful and everything tat used to be.
overall great, and especially the cap toes!
great illustration of your "style vs. fashion" comment the other day.
Gorgeous shots....and very true to life...its very nice to see:)

wow. colors look great.
interesting look, but great model and hair.

PERFECTION and oh so classy.
www.FashionSnag.com
I love the vertical streak on the door behind her, almost the shape of her proud stance. It's like a halo of her marvelous elegance and the contrast world. Vertical and horizontal. Wonderfully caught by an eye for detail. Or was it accident?
How elegant, what a elaborate bag.
So classic.

it looks almost like a painting! beautiful!

so elegant and stunning!
literally took my breathe away. gorgeous
Great shot, fab clothes. My guess as to why the dress is hanging so........pregnant?
Her hair style is great! I also love her legs...

Love the shoes in all the last five posts. This photo in red and the portrait in black and white are both awesome shots.
The woman is lovely! :)
The shoes are an extension of her personality! :)
Check my blog at http://fortheloveofashionandotherthings.blogspot.com
Amazing pearl necklace and gorgeous embroidery on her bag! The shoes go brilliantly with her fabulous dress. The bold colour looks great on her!
www.styleisalwaysfashionable.blogspot.com
wonderful!!!
WOW. What a woman! She's absolutely beautiful!
this woman is both strikingly beautiful, and also looks like she's stepped out of some sort of time machine- i love this look and the wonderful deep red colour. i wish more people continued to dress like this
and that bag adds so much grandeur in a way with the pattern :)
Do you have any knowledge about that purse she is carrying? I have one just like it that I got at a vintage shop - and I'm pretty sure my friend has one that is very similar as well... was this purse a huge fad at one point and spread around the nation?
great, great shot. the red on red is surprisingly perfect, especially with the dot of red below on her shoes.
so do you mean modern as in the way helvetica and an Eames rocker is modern?
i see this as beautiful and elegant, yes, but, although it appears to jump from the same era as the now famous font and rocker, modern would not be the first word that comes to mind to describe this look. i definitely wouldn't characterize it as modern in contemporary terms.
which gives rise to some thought about what images are conjured up by these words.
This is confirming what I have been anticipating: pearls are back!
Great picture for great lady.

beautiful
Gorgeous colors and great style - a throwback to the 30's and 40's, but the dress really does not flatter her. i was reading some of the comments and people were commenting on how its great to see a woman with curves, and "real women" and such, but I think the bulkiness of the dress and the heavier fabric make her look bigger than she really is! Food for thought.
cheers,
renata

She is amazing!
breathtaking!!
Beautiful, so so beautiful.

Perhaps I'm missing something. I hate to repeat myself about costumery substituting for personal style, but as I believe I'm seeing it again I guess I have to.
She's a beautiful woman and the natural hair is a nice twist on retro style. It may be the only modern element here. Otherwise, I'm not impressed.
That first portrait is absolutely stunning - she looks incredibly elegant. I also like the contrast between the monochrome shot, focusing on her face, and the vibrant colour in the full length - love the way the dress contrast with the tips of the shoes!

i totally saw her on sept 11 near nyu! so chic! loved her outfit!

Classic Hollywood! Sumptious!
There is a sense of Lena Horne...poise and elegance.
i've always loved nappy hair in a pompadour. it's such a charming call to history. when mine was longer that's how i wore it.
thank you to Miss Lady for expressing such lovely style!

The portrait should get you a prize on any given Contest with a sane jury panel.
Just overwhelming. Thank You

Está claro que hay gente que tiene clase y otra que no . El look me encanta pero más allá del estilismo creo que esta chica irradia una elegancia tan natural que resulta marabilloso
simply stunning.
By what coincidence was this vision in red already standing and waiting in front of the red steel gate?
great photos. love the dress!
i'm speechless! what an incredibly beautiful stylish woman!
oh my goodness she is gorgeous!!!
Very Classy~!
Reminds me of your earlier photograph of the pretty woman in bell bottoms and a floppy hat.
She and this lady in red are stylish for wearing proven fashions from another time. The lady in red looks like she stepped out of the 1950s or a Mad Men episode, but luscious.
Very Janelle Monae hair.
is her hair red too or is that just a reflection? marvelous photos, both b&w and in color! great subject too. doesn't get much better than this, Sart!
Great!!!
her eyes know who she is
lady like chic @ its finest
Fellow fashion freaks take a look at my first ever blog

love her dress and shoes. so adorable!

She resembles a soul or a gospel singer, back in the day. and her red dress exposes perfectly that!
Great purse by the way
Best,

Mr Schumann, this is why I can't quit you. Just when I thought I was out you pull me back in!
Stunning photograph, stunning subject.

wow! she's wonderful and so elegant! great pics, wooooooooooow!

Cool on cool...
great background and lovely picture! Pure art!
you get a lot of cool and stylish chicks snapped on the sartorialist but this lady is beautiful- like she has decended from a more graceful age.
Not to mention ELEGANT! :)
She is dressed so finely, but her shape is distorted in a way (unless the wind fluffed up her dress). Fine materials though, great bag, hair, makeup, and most of all--shoes!!
Love everthing about this photo! The subject has luminous dignity and grace, the industrial shutters create an unusual backdrop for the neat formality of the young lady's attire. Thanks, Scott, for bringing us everyday folks who possess innate poise and style.
lovely pictures, its like a retake of 50s style and sensibility. Love how she's channeling Janelle Monae hair do.
She is pure brilliance. Individual style, personified. Gotta love a lady!

This is definitely an attention grabbing outfit. The red is so vivid and she incorporates the black so well. The outfit is a little "costumey," but eye-catching nonetheless.
www.theafeminada.blogspot.com
I like the natural hair. If I ever decide to go natural, it's good to see it w/a more classic, tailored style.
And as for the fit, I think it is fine. This is an AfAm with hips and a bum. I know plenty of ladies with that type of figure.
This my favourite look on this site ever! She manages to do a period look without it looking contrived, and yet the shape of her dress is still interesting, if a bit strange. LOVE.
www.cultofclothes.com
This reminds me so much of the Color Purple and how everyone dressed up to go to church.
Just plain drop-dead gorgeous.
The outfit is wonderful and I love the shoes w the dress, but I think her eyes are the most beautiful things about her appearance. What a stunner.
LOVE. Those red-tipped shoes are the icing on the cake. She thought through this outfit, and pulled an A+!
Thanks for showing beautiful black women on your blog... Their beauty usually isn't recognized.
She has the biggest eyes!!
she is stunning. The gloves, the shoes. What a delight.
Truly gorgeous woman and photo.
As for the comments questioning how modern this look is--yes, it's an old-school ultra-femme ensemble, but she's wearing it with very modern confidence and strength. Her powerful, self-assured attitude and sense of fun (those shoes!) create a wonderful juxtaposition with the ensemble, unsettling and challenging old-fashioned cultural constructions of "femininity" as helpless and demure.
I'm swooning with nostalgia here. She's right out of my Civil Rights era childhood. And...are those crinolines under that dress? To die. The shoes crack open the nostalgic dream and make it modern. She's fabulous. Where was she headed dressed like this? Hmm.
I'm in love with the raspberry shade of her dress, and that bag is to die for.
http://orangecircus.blogspot.com
A very stylish & elegant lady...beautifully turned out!
She is perfection! The hair is immaculate. The color is amazing. The purse is the perfect detail.
(Where was she going? And is she always so well dressed?)

be-yoo-ti-ful. this shot deserves a whole soundtrack
She is gorgeous! Love the way she play with the colors and acessories, much style and confidence. BEAUTIFUL! Kisses from Brasil
What a stunning b&w portrait of a stunning woman. Love the natural light and great contrast, makes for such a rich photograph.
i'm usually a silent reader. enjoying your pictures without commenting. but i must say this picture is just incredible! mind blowing! i got goosebumps ;)
beautiful dress! And gorgeous photos as always. Looking forward to more of your Fashion Week roundups.
what's modern about her exactly?
or is retro very now?
I love her out fit, it's so modern and retro in one time. Her dress is like any other dress in lots of shops but she has turn it by her bag and gloves
The best of the bunch!
RED. Such a romantic photo.
WOW. This photo took my breath away. For a while there i was starting to get tired of your images. The "on-trend" "Fashionable" people with the colour by numbers boat shoes and blazer. But these last few photos (mainly back in NY) have me interested all over again!
Those little black gloves just make it perfect for me. Her face, her clothes, and this photo are just unabashedly gorgeous.
i often wonder why many of your quite ordinary subjects are selected. no wonder in this case, and nothing the slightest bit ordinary.
in love, i am.
Wow, she looks like someone from Seidou Keita pictures. Beautiful photo!
oooh - lovely photo! i love red aspects...
i think her dress (pockets) and shoes are modern, you can say that her hairstyle is retro but in my opinion it's a litte like grace jones :)now i see that te heels are like '80.
Retro is her handbag, pearls and gloves.
wow-
Gorgeous. Ilove the juxtaposition of her with the woman below. Save this diptych for Sart vol. 2!
great dress, very feminine, very 'mad men'
So beautiful! She reminds me of Billie Holiday. :)
oh! this is so beautiful!
I love the vintage purse, I got almost one just like it! :D
oh, this is sooooo beautiful!
Who's the model?
Amazing! I love it! so regal!
WOW. The shoes, the bag, the hair, the pearls. Exquisite!
simply beautiful. she defines the era of another time.
