I like it. Bold and bright.

PS. The background really brings out the colour contrast.

Sweet Levis look . It appears to be an old Levis shirt with the new 201 buckle-back 201 re-issues (?). Plus, the socks, hat and wing-tips are the icing on the cake.

Blogger Jorge from W Palm Beach said ... (8:08 AM) :

I like this! I like how everything is rather conventional except for the socks, but even those really go with the rest of the outfit. The blue background brings it all together. I have to use my Church's in more exciting ways, like this one. Jorge from WPB

Blogger Unknown said ... (8:10 AM) :

American brogues. With socks!!!!! about time!!

Blogger Unknown said ... (8:10 AM) :

Nice socks. But still what is the deal with rolling up the trousers? Some time ago it was allowed only for absentminded nuclear physics professors. I can't convince my husband to do it in case trousers are too long.

Anonymous Laurent said ... (9:06 AM) :

Beautiful shoes. I think the rolled cuffs to shoe off the socks- which could have been a subtle eccentricity-is childish, and a bit clownish. Combined with the funky hat and hair, it appears costume-like and contrived. However, he looks comfortable, neat, clean and should be praised for his shined-up brogans!

Blogger BrooklynBlonde said ... (9:08 AM) :

Love this photo!!! He looks like he should also be holding a joint cuz he's so chill! :)

Man, this guy is fly! Digging the quirky socks, uneven pant roll, Allen Edmonds on the feet. I'll have to keep an eye out for a Levi shirt before it gets much cooler here in Boston.

Blogger Couture Coco said ... (9:09 AM) :

The socks got me thinking of Paul Smith. You got me thinking of love of bikes. Have you seen this? http://www.paulsmith.co.uk/collections/men/london/autumn-winter-10/paul-smith,351,PAR.html

Anonymous proletarian Great Gatsby said ... (10:34 AM) :

The contrast shoe/socks combination gives him a special touch:not too classical and not just Jamaica and Bob Marley. It's a caribean dandy of our days!

Blogger lintmag said ... (10:42 AM) :

As I always say, the accessories make the outfit - a basic denim shirt and brown pants are nice enough, but with those great socks, wingtips, hat and bag, it elevates the look to something superb.

Anonymous Dana said ... (10:45 AM) :

Great mix of colour and texture on this dude. The sock look like a German flag...Is that a floral hat? If so this guy is awesome.

Anonymous Gary said ... (10:53 AM) :

I totaly agree with what you said about the difference between fashion and style. These last pics are very representative if that.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:53 AM) :

He is so beautiful! I love the way he exudes Caribbeanness !

Blogger Unknown said ... (11:06 AM) :

I love the colour of his satchel, it's a gorgeous blue. The socks aren't my favourite, to be honest, but I love all the different pastel colours in his hat.

Blogger Ado said ... (11:11 AM) :

First thing I notice (besides his very chill demeanor) is the red tab on his shirt, Levi's is one one of my favorite brands and I've been looking for a dark denim version of his.

Scott, your portraiture is simply amazing. Every morning as I sip my tea I gaze at these characters and slip away to a cool place, outside of my dreary cubicle, for at least a short few moments. Thanks for your blog!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:26 AM) :

See? Now this fellow has real style. It doesn't look as studied as the woman below. (Her heavy woolen hat seems too early in the season.) There is nothing contrived about his look, it all is very natural and that's why it works for him and probably not as well on anyone else.

Beautifully composed photo, Sart!

Anonymous Read said ... (12:08 PM) :

Awesome shirt, but I think this photo is more about the brown on blue contrast. The different shades of each create a super-cool aesthetic.

Blogger Captivated said ... (1:50 PM) :

perfect color combinations. gotta love those socks!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:18 PM) :

i like where he's heading with the look but not totally convinced. HOWEVER! He's wearing what appear to be Florsheim brogues - which my grandfather used to wear (but no longer does because he now prefers a softer shoe). He is my male style archetype.

So, points for the shoes and the sock combination mais c'est tout.

Blogger the outfit diaries said ... (2:35 PM) :

Blogger J.Teheren said ... (2:57 PM) :

I love the denim shirt!!! The socks match well with the shoe. Awesome look!!!

Anonymous Alessandro said ... (3:21 PM) :

I like the various individual elements; especially the shoes. However, there is an off air of mistmatch. The clothes, which exude a kind of cheerful academic or philosophical (as opposed to arragonat academic) bent, and again the shoes especially, don't correspond to the dreadlocks and the expression on the gentleman's face. The hat is quite out of place with the rest.

Anonymous Joanna Roman said ... (3:59 PM) :
