So gracious and dramatical! Even though her eyes are in the shadow.. the look is still so intense.. full of wisdom. simply beautiful! she seems from a different decade of ours..
Such an amazingly moody shot.

Does this have anything to do with a certain memorial service at St. Paul's?
"...Oh, it's a jolly 'oliday with Mary..."
Lovely picture - love the way the light through her hat makes for a veil that isn't there. I think she would wait for me if I had to go far away...
great image. Might even work better in b&w - echoing Jerry Schatzbergs pics of 60's behind the scenes Dior :)

wow...so very lovely...those eyes speak a thousand words!
ohhh...divine shades:)
sonsira.blogspot.com
the shadow of hat on her face, cold lokking eyes, bright skin and red lipstick...that all make a very aristocratic lady of her, like from the movie "Tredowata"
beautiful!

so dramatic ay! wonderful image.
visiting your post and I do think you are really born to be a fashion blogger
demure. dramatic. captivating.
The shadow of the hat gives her such a mysterious look- so sophisticated! Her lips are so well shaped too!
http://www.elizabeth-loke.blogspot.com
Lovely. I see her as a murderess in a film noir.
Super dramatic. I'd love to see her eye makeup-the copper looks cool!
beautiful lady!
http://unefilleunreve.blogspot.com
There's a Tilda Swinton quality to her. If Swinton wore red lipstick...
http://silver-sage.blogspot.com/
I wonder what the red eye makeup looks like without the hat shadow...
Oh yeah thats my colour!

this photo is so dramatic. reminds me of those old hollywood movies.

A wonderful picture in so many ways - the lines and shadows, that bare section of lower face.
It also opens up so many questions about that beautiful woman. I think that's what you're so good at.
There's something a bit set about her mouth whereas her eyes are softer - a combination which intrigues, makes you want to know more about who she is. Not what job she does, editor of somethingorother, but who that person really is behind the hat.
the contrast of her skin and shadow it's great, love it!!
http://sweetlittleconfessions.blogspot.com/
Allure, mystery, drama, intrigue -- a dash of darkly compelling urban noir, captured in the brilliant light of day. Wonderful.
Cool hat. But it may be more attractive when the color is pink.
Makes me wanna watch 'Four Weddings and a Funeral' again.

Nice portrait...as always.
Scary!
Lovely photo of a very beautiful woman
such a lady ... so pretty
london like ..
I feel like I should say great stuff about this photo but for some reason I am finding it distracting--or at least the shadows from the hat on her face are.
sometimes a lady is better without a smile.
Great photo! Beautiful woman. So jazz age. She looks a little like the main character from Masterpiece Theatres "Love for Lydia" or like Anais Nin. That hat and collar are amazing. Swoon big time!! What a woman!
Great hat & very nice use of the shadows. It was probably very tempting to expose for the background and give the whole picture an air of darkness but you (or the camera) made an interesting choice of exposing for the face: the shadows remain subdued instead of very black and we can see her expressions).
Very atypical. I like that.

Love how the eyes work with the hat (though if she taken it off she'd have looked as though she had conjunctivits, or terrible insomnia. Just sayin') and mouth. The shadow the brim casts over her face bridges her makeup kind of perfectly.
i love the photo! and there is elegance and authority in her face and fashion! beautiful!
My grandmother's family owned one of the first ever hotels in Atlantic City and she grew up there during the Golden era. She was a real beauty in her day. This photograph brings her to life for me. She has the perfect face for this look. It's an incredible shot. I'd love to see how she put the rest of the look together.
Love the picture and especially the shadow but not sure about her eye make up. Love the lippy though!!

i love this.

There were so many fashion types around St Paul's yesterday for the memorial, and frankly most of them looked very odd in the 'real' world. However, she looks elegant and stylish, I wish more had looked this good.
gorge photo and that hat is super fab

reminicent of Karen Black in Day of the Locust !
thank you
Im prone to dislike what you normally post here but this picture is trully amazing.
Congratulations.
Per-fect picture! She has the mystery of a Kees van Dongen painting.
Love her look: timeless, stately, elegant, supremely self-conscious sans apology.
She is multi-lingual, chooses her words carefully. Know I'd hang on her every word.
This is why I follow the Sartorialist.
Mysterious. And beautiful.
like a painting. love the shades of the background.
I love this portrait. It's like 'Yeah, Ok, take the picture.'
She's fabulous.
Sweet and low down............
Sublime
such a beautiful shot!
love the red eye-shadow with black hair and pale skin...

Oh,the little sister of Kristin of Kristin Scott Thomas.I love the shadow of the hat like a veil.
superb. looks like danielle zinach. is it her?
I love the way she's always so dramatic
Wow. That is an incredibly beautiful photo. Well done.
This is class. Congratulations!
Love her fine millinery. Love her purple pink eye rims!
I think she evokes the spirit of Wallis Simpson.
Just a beatiful moment!
Fantastique!!!
Incredible, I actually love her lips...they remind me of a canoe strangely...
All the best
eyespyfashion.wordpress.com
I love the shadows falling exactly in an angle on the nose with the focus on such a well-done red lip. I just can't pull off a red lip as well as she does, but I guess like here, the secret is to make it matte.
mademoiselle Chanel?
Beautiful...reminds of me somehow of this beautiful painting by Kees van Dongen (http://tinyurl.com/345aeq3)
Looks like Tilda, too. xo
I love her lips...
she does not look happy
Stunning photograph, amazing to still see the expression through the heavy shadow.
