YES!!! Thanks so much Scott! I was dying to see those Shoes!!!

This show was so beautiful it was more than visually stimulating but it moved you. I called it Fashion of the Opera. Wonderful images as always.

Simply stunning. Even before the current FW trend, Marc has always designed clothes for the woman. Looks like this might be one of my favourite collections from him.

Thanks for sharing these.

The colors are so vibrant and sort of life-affirming after the neutral tones for this fall. The unfortunate part is that it makes me look forward to a time which is a whole season away!

I believe this is my favourite collection of him.
So 70's, so studio 54, so Bianca Jagger, so colorful, so happy!
Loved it!

Thanks Scott for sharing these wonderful photos. I am still gushing about this collection. The color palate was amazing. So feminine and the dresses just flowed wonderfully when I watched the show. Looks like we might be seeing a lot of hats in the future. My dream of photographing a Marc Jacobs show one day is still in my mind. Keep dreaming I tell myself ....lol.
Thanks again.

Marc Jacobs is really one of the smartest designers I have ever seen..

he has such resiliency that you can never take his designs as a " Deja Vu " but also you can never miss the playful sense of sarcasm in his work ..
I might have admired his collections for the smartness & sharpness laying within ... only an objective admiration.. but this collection ; I am totally biasing for.. I am in love .

Anonymous Kellye Parish said ... (10:07 AM) :

My favorite thing about this show is that the women don't look completely emaciated. These women look fit and spartan, athletic...not like they're about to collapse of arrythmia, which has been the fashion in the fashion world for quite some time now...

But onto the fashion itself...awesome. Like A Clockwork Orange meets the year 1968.

Blogger angvou said ... (10:08 AM) :

The colors and textures are fantastic. Absolutely love. This collection is derivative as hell, but everything is so beautiful.

What's also interesting is that the 1970s, I believe, is when black models were being used more often. Appropriate, I guess. And very lovely.

Blogger TheHypeAround... said ... (3:06 AM) :

There's no doubt that Marc Jacobs is channeling Yves Saint Laurent in his Spring 2011 RTW Collection. Bold lacquer colors for pant suits and Seventies wide sleeved Spring coats ( which are themselves throw backs to the Forties Busby Berkeley musicals) seem to buck the trend at this year's NY Fashion Week. The problem is that these pieces come off as being a bit like costumes. You should wear your clothes and not the other way around.

Nevertheless, the collection is beautiful if not overly nostalgic. What? Is that Donna Summer I hear in the background?

This is a visual feast. Thanks for sharing these with those of us who will never be connected well enough to get to Fashion Week. It is something I dream of constantly. This collection is truly thrilling. In stark contrast to the dull and peculiar assortment of resort wear offered up on the last Project Runway challenge.

Best thus far -

Simon Spurr 2011 (the orange and white was so chic)

Michael Bastian - Black with yellow accents - brilliant, evokes "body glove" scuba dive gear to a more sophisticated level

Robert Geller - Cubano with leather, hippie meets early Americano, tassles and ties...

Gorgeous patterns and colors as usual. A fantastic collection . . . All except that sweater with the BOOB TARGETS! That's sure to end up on the sale racks. For someone who designs some of the best looking womenswear I've seen, he sure missed the mark with that piece. Maybe he was going for whimsical, but I'd just feel uncomfortable wearing that sweater.

Fruity, lively and complete are the words that describe the collection in the best way, in my opinion.
Lovely!

Stunning... you really took me to this event through your photography. Gorgeous colors, truly breathtaking. I was captured from the very first one.

Incredible collection of shots! LOVE the profiles of the girl in heels and the girl in a sunhat - exquisite.

I especially love the photo that showed only the model's legs. The contrast of her skintone with the gold shorts were amazing

Great shots at unusual runway angles. The shapes of the clothes are beautiful but not crazy about the patterns.

These women are like Grace Jones. I like her!

I love Marc Jacobs. The color palate of this line is retro and sophisticated.

That being said, I think the actual garments are hideous. They do nothing to give form or shape, they are not interesting OR flattering. There seems to be an overabundance of fabric or an underwhelming lack of concern for what would actually be flattering to the female form or be sculpturally interesting.

I can appreciate the artistry of creating a comprehensive and cohesive collection. However I find this completely lacking in the sophistication and poise which Marc Jacobs usually produces.

waou!!! how much i would have enjoyed being at this show! everything is so "féminin", colours, fluidity, n elegant simplicity... Jacobs has done a terrific work for this season! i particularly like the second pic, these shoes associated to these beatiful legs, it's so..strong! thank you Marc

reminds me of the editorial work of 1970's fashion photographer Sarah Moon.
