Comments on "On the Street....Zipped & Cuffed, New York"
I have no words to describe how much I love this.

cool! love the pants
xx http://asianeyedgirl.blogspot.com/
Nice!
The zippers rock! Love the worn in trainer look, as well.

Looks like he could be a character in Sex and the City! Linked to probably....hmmm....Carrie or Miranda. Love this photo so much. XO

Love him and the way his eyes pierced the screen!
Becca
Where is the zipper? Not really my style, but i'm curious.
i have jeans like this & am def going to try wearing them like thiss.
I love a man in rolled up jeans. Especially as this guy could conceivably been hiking (or at least walking with purpose) and got a bit hot so rolled them up supposedly for practicality... although clearly all the while knowing he's rocking a look. X

love the jeans cuffed like that.

lekisskiss.blogspot.com <-- Texas gal bloggin fashion from NYC!
I think I like most of this, except the bottom of the jeans.
Good-looking guy, great beard (wish I could grow one like that). Everything looks great but those shoes. What is he thinking?

Very HANDSOME man with piercing gaze! He's one of those rough and athletic looking men who just looks good in anything, especially in a well worn look like this with the zippered skinny jeans, black shirt with pearl buttons, and obviously, his favorite pair of sneakers. His beard and mustache which he seemed to keep tidy make him look very dashing with bits of gray flanking his chin. Gorgeous!
great style and above all a most relaxed attitude. Looks like a New Zealander! : )

Hooray we are back in NYC. Have really loved this cuff look this summer. Thanks for sharing

If you this fella again, tell him he is IT. Older, Groovy, Confident and Effortless. Tell him that for me, would you?
I would like to sit down and have a conversation with him!
What backpack is that? The little you see of it makes really interested!
what jeans are those!! YUM!!
I love the simplicity of this but the attention to detail is great. Like the tattoo - just one line round his forearm? It's awesome!
www.gingerfashionmonsters.blogspot.com
yummy sexy man. Beards never get old.
OMG the jeans :D amazing
even if he wasn't a backpacker, he looks like he has the excitement of being one!
this is the typical person who does not want to show he cares abt clothes... but he really paid attention to appear so cool like he is in this picture!
Unless his basement apartment is flooded, that simply is foolish looking. He seems to have a nice look otherwise but that's a tad on the ridiculous side... especially for his age.
Very nice shot though!
he looks like he has loads of stories burning within him
the denim and shoes are insane.
http://jimjims.net
Love this! I really like his backpack from what I can see of it. And I love the worn-out shoes.
artsysunday.blogspot.com
I always like when guys do this. It looks so cool, casual & confident. What could be more attractive than a guy with confidence?
Great photo! Gorgeous guy. But you cannot be serious about those jeans or those kicks!?!
His shirt fits him great and looks good on him, the back pack looks like quality and is useful, but he is WAY too old to be rocking the skinny jeans with zippers. Come on. Sitting down I don't like them, so I can't even imagine what they look like on him standing up...........
How can you capture the style of Italian men so beautifully (perfecto!) and dig this?
Sorry, too trendy (and ridiculous) for me. But I keep coming back every day b/c I love this blog!
-le sigh-
I cannot express how much this photo makes me miss nyc...
yeah - that back pack... any ideas?
love the shoes! best everr!

Jeans are OK and the bag.
he's bag looks really interesting and his look is so.. adventurous!
xx,
Dimogonda blog
Excellent, perfect fit!!
I love the look but somehow can't see my (gorgeous) 40 something, conservative husband wearing this.
who does not love a man in well fitted jeans?
everything is simple but put together just right.
THIS is style! Great tattoo makes all the difference.
Can't see the bag, but love it already! Simply effortless...
love your blog! how about comming to Lisbon a see some beautifull people here? i think you are going to be surprised ;)
Purrrrfecto!
the entire look is fantastic, slim sofisticated, like this shirt ant tattoo
awesome!
Who says you should dress your age... that's just silly. I like the shoes because they're not converse- They're different and I like that. And I also like how he dresses young and not conservative, Just because your 40 doesn't mean you have to throw away all your sneakers and go with leather loafers! Common! Sometimes you just need to kick some sneaks! And about that tattoo-- seriously I have seen another photograph on this site of a man wearing paint splattered jeans on this site (( possibly the same person )) with his toe against a light post. I'm assuming it's the same Brooklyn Neighborhood and possibly the same person... I think you FREQUENT these people.
This is such a great style. Its cool without trying to be

This isn't a good look in my opinion... it's forced in a specifically New York kind of way. I like the shirt and backpack, but the jeans are too trendy and not very masculine... which I think is important for men's fashion.
This just makes me excited to go to NYC :) 7 months to go..
I want those trainers!
Love the shoes, but the texting pose is so 2009.
www.jrocomedy.blogspot.com
Looks like the gentleman from the xx equis commercial, great look.
They are lovely but... the only reason a man his age should be wearing anything like this is that he is going to hop on his bicycle. He would look foolish were he not so handsome (and has such an excellent photographer!)
He looks like a shy courier man waiting for the next pickup...he probably did not purposely dressed this way; the outfit is definitely just a fall out of life on the street, on a bike...... I like the image lots...
Marry me...
who cares at what age things look to young ,,, He looks GREAT! like a rock star waiting to go!
I'm speechless. The look is both amazingly rugged and refined.
The picture says it all... a man very comfortable in himself
Cute shot. I like the jean cuff zips turned up that way (he must be a petite guy); I love the bag (well, what we can see of it); and I particularly like the obviously well-loved sneakers. They remind me of my current favourite sneakers I bought in Barcelona 2 years ago: 'Vialis aro'. They are still gorgeous: cumfy, stylish with large mesh panels for ventilation in the heat, they've got that same well-loved worn look, they remind me of how hot and wonderfull Barcelona was that week I visited.
Ciao, L in Oz.
Oh, I cant even handle this. So hot right now.
blackandlashes.blogspot.com
what kind of shoes are these?
Effortless, yet chic!
--Nolita Vintage--
Perfect style for a modern urban explorator !
Love the bag !!
The backpack he's got on is a bike messenger bag (maybe 'chrome'?) and odds are the reason his jeans are up like that is so that they don't get caught in chain on his bicycle. Also, in regards to a previous post: your shoes will like that if you cycle without clip-ins but use eggbeaters, which as they are metal, tear up your shoes.
Although this was shot in new york, his style is that of someone from the bay (SF).
i love the mood of this photo, amazing snap, no need for words

Lean, handsome, confident... magnetic.
handsome guy
Cool and timeless look. Modern man at the same time.
The most stylized I've ever seen a back packer look.
P.S: The back pack is actually a piece of beauty.
http://fortheloveoffashionandotherthings.blogspot.com
He is courier, yes? For me he looks amazing, very masculine, but casual and comfortable. And I love his beard!
i like the cool dad effortless look and attitude with the facial hair.
nouveauskin.blogspot.com
love this look!!! simple yet chic:-)
I like his beard and his backpack, very nice.
I ♥ it!

the guy is hot!! love the pants n tattoo
www.myfacehunter.com
He is hot and looks really trustworthy. I like the man!
love the jeans! X
http://ilovemyframes.blogspot.com/
Love all of it! The worn trainers, the fitted shirt, the leather backpack and cuffed jeans! Fabulous!!
mybrightroomoflightning.blogspot.com
J'adore...!
C'mon, you can't be serious? Those jeans are ridiculous!
have we seen this fella before in boat shoes and painted pants?
I think the only right word to describe this is.. awsome.
really. <3
www.iristinunin.blogspot.com
i love simple tattoos like that....and the pants idea is great....now i know what i need to do with my skinny jeans (my legs are short and all the pants i buy are way too long...). All in all simple but hot look!
have a great day folks

great bag
;)
Grrrrr-reat personal style. Effortless & relaxed.
OMG! Gorgeous guy, in love with the beard and his laid-back outfit!
One more example of a picture that appears here just because the person looks good - come on, that outfit in any other average-looking guy would never make it here!
I like it!
Oh, so different from the Denim Italiano! I live in Brescia, the town of the 4 men you posted on Friday, and I must say that it would be a total shock, to see a man wearing jeans and shoes like these, in our town!!! He is so cool. Love it
I have a feeling that just outside of this shot is a fabulous bicycle.
He's showing great style... but you can't compare his basic black to the blues on the Italian boys a few pics beneath...
I like how the look and color of his shoes contrasts greatly with the rest of his darker toned outfit.
I find the array of comments very interesting, particularly the naysayers. For one to compare their husbands ability or openness to mimicking this look is irrelevant. What is relevant is the man's ability to dress appropriate to his proportions and physique,as well as creating a chic example of today's casual culture
I know this guy.
He's the guy in the painters trousers from a while back.
He looked great then, & great now.
Normally zip bottom jeans look just plain odd--needless to say I've never seen them look cool until now. I guess this is how to wear them!
very cool!...love the pants
The woman in the GAP ad next to this post is wearing the same JEANS. "Explore the Stream"
love how its casual but still put together at the same time.
looks like a busy man!
So cool! Great style!
www.thebigiofactor.blogspot.com
had a search - backpack isnt chrome - any more ideas?
He's sharp looking and I like what he's wearing, but it's not at all age appropriate.
This guy cuts my hair! he's awesome...
I don't understand what all the fuss is about. The outfit is quite ordinary and the only remarkable aspect is the femininity of the jeans. It's an interesting photo, but it only serves to contrast how nice jeans can really look when compare with the photo below from Milan. I also don't understand why everyone is raving about the shoes; they don't even look practical for running, let alone look good.
I've actually never commented before, but i think he looks amazing. Weather or not he tried to be sophisticated is sort of irrelevant, he succeeded, its not revolutionary but...this is a nice break from the suits and ties who look like they've approached style and have it by the neck to this casual but no less relevant design decision.
Agree with the comment from Petey above. It's a great 'bicycle look'.
He is Handsome and he is very well dressed, effortlessly.
I wish I could dress that well.
You really captured an aspect of his personality! Love his backpack, too!
tres beau en effet!
I absolutely adore his look!
I'm confessing my ignorance!
Pleease, someone explain why everyone thinks the skinny jeans zip leg rolled up that way looks good. My first reaction was, "Gee, that looks stupid," but then I saw that everyone thinks it's great. What am I missing?
Excellent zipper design for bicycling in jeans. Helps to have a handsome, fit guy wearing them.
he looks like a courier veteran.
love him.
xo
The Covetist
Love it ! Especially his attitude...
http://www.honeysucklechic.com/2010/08/31/emmy-2010-top-trend-navy/
Rarely do you photograph an American as hot as this man is. OMG, he is absolutely gorgeous. So relaxed and so well put together. I love his mix of funky and classic and how he puts his own spin on the jeans. The shoes are so old and worn, yet he pulls it off without fault! Love it! This to me, is a lovely portrait. Wow!
For those who keep asking... the shoes are PF Flyers.
A GREAT Chuck alternative.
I like the shirt, but the shoes and jeans, not so much.
windowshop78.blogspot.com
great solid dark-color shirt...not that easy of an item to wear...but above all ...che swagger!!!!!
For those who wonder about the shoes : these are PF Flyers, one of my favourite alternative to Chucks...and way more confortable...Dig his style.
So charming!
Love the NYC style. As a Londoner this inspiration this is so refreshing. Can't wait to visit!! But where can I find jeans like these? Does anyone know?
well helloooo lover! gorgeous!
After the below picture of the four Italians doing their age well, this guy just seems, well, like he's shooting for a lifestyle look that's a little too young for his forty-ish years...
But, judging by the adoring comments above, elegance or style is sometimes truly in the eye of the beholder.
Victoria
Has he got a story! Those eyes draw you in to want to know more ......
i'm in love.
would love to know where the bag is from.
wonder if you know his bag? such a mystery.
www.kampungningrat.com
I really love this kind of man:
lookish but man!
Is this man available!?
Again, GREAT footwear! The feet and the dressing of the ends of the trousers in general this season people are getting so right!
Love this look... is not about age
http://coolneeded.blogspot.com
I love this unique and fearless outfit.
Luv the look hes simply cool! <3
Great posts, great photo! Interesting that this look has split responses (in the UK we might say it's a 'Marmite moment' - you either love it or you hate it!). I'm reminded of that great phrase - if you have to ask, then you don't understand. The age comments are fascinating too - anyone like to explain 'age appropriate' from one poster to me? or would the debate never end?!!
Lovin' your work Scott...
I love this look but the bag is the best.Does anyone know wchic bag is that?it's not a chrome or a freitag....
Great post Paul(UK) if you have to ask, then you don't understand
The Most Interesting Man In the World. He has a few bottles of Dos Equis's in his backpack.
Oh my gosh I love him. He looks like a cool college prof or something.
So handsome.
Oh hello kind sir..
LOVE this look. Very relaxed and cool! The jeans are great, love the zippers on the inside seams.
Hahaha! I've been doing that to my pants this whole year! Love how everything fits!
fan of everything, including his beard, but unfortunately, not a fan of his shoes....
i have met this guy i think ...on a bike riding over the bridge...or maybe he is a barber...cant quite remember...he looks nice ...love the shoes....definitely a personal style all his own....and the beard...wow....wish he were gay...and if i=he is wish he were knocking on my door ready to give me a makeover...or just a do-over
the dude from FSC barber?
what a great looking man! A rugged and relaxed look with all the excitement in the details- the zippers, the red shoes, the tattoo (love), the little bit of gray in his beard make his look more interesting. subtle style.
... i would love to know what the guy in the photo thinks of all these comments!!!
Hot. Hot. Hot.
Simple, relaxed, clean, modern....
I LOVE THIS PERFECT OUTFIT!
Thats a cool and handsome guy!
been looking for days but still can't find out where his bag is from...
any idea guys?
The bag might be an Ortlieb messenger bag? This fellow has certainly polarised the readership! I think he looks smashing.
Fantastic taste!
Very Vancouver BC :) good work i would wear that
Yes, he does look like a New Zealander, but whatever he is, I like the look of him. A lot. Can anyone send me his telephone number?
This blog is such an interesting socio-cultural study, primarily because of the comments that the images provoke.
I take tremendous offense at those who assert this gentleman should 'dress his age' and that he looks absurd. I didn't realize there are rules to be followed at every age. He certainly does not expose 'aged' parts that are best covered, he does not look undiginified--he looks like he owns himself, and his body, like an integral adult, and he doesn't look false or imitative.
What judgements people still have about age and what is appropriate! Particularly regarding someone as inoffensive and, frankly, groovy, as this fellow. The moment we as individuals follow prescriptions about what to do and not to do at any given age, well, then, we might as well go straight to a rocking chair and stay there! Aren't some of the most inspirational icons those who challenge social norms and expectations and carry it off with aplomb?
I love how it's all in the details. just a simple outfit on first sight but if you take your time to really look you can see his own personal touch.
...he looks like someone who have hots stories inside of him..to tell you!!
Davide.
Molt interessant, m'agrada...
i love this pic and this man! don't ask me that it embodies the perfect ideal of a new yorker...so cool..great!
I too think it is an Ortlieb bag for whoever said that. And I agree, this is fit, details, and personal style in a nutshell. Yet, there's something very simplistic about the look. I think it would be difficult to consciously put together a look with such ease that seems so effortless. But he's managed to do it. Great tattoo as well!

Yowza! Sexy, handsome, American man! love the trimmed beard and his great haircut. Give me this over seersucker summer suits with shorts/bow ties any day!
I love this look and I love his trainers. Any clue as to what model it is? Cheers.
He's so tiny! He's a tiny little man!
And yes, I want to have him over for coffee. Ahem.
love, love, love this man. His backpack looks gorgeous. And those jeans! love.
I love this outfit! This man understands FIT. He is an honorary European.
anyone knows what is this bag brand? I love it.
Wonderful dress code for a tireless biker....I wish my boyfriend dress like him... and the tattoo is simply perfect!
D.
i cant help it, older hairy men just attract me.
mmm...those shoes.
So, what brand is the bag?
http://www.nuctr.com
Love the look of the bag. Wish you took a close up of it.
love his Jeans and bag!
http://fakescenes.blogspot.com
Wow, he's lovely :D
The bag is for outdoor use like hiking, boating, and cycling in wet conditions I believe. Its definitely not Chrome, the material is wrong. The roll top is to keep water from getting in. Not sure what brand it is, but there are lots of out door companies that carry them, they are generally called dry bags...and they've been around for years.
Wow.
Love this! Everything is very fitted and kind of beat up looking. Very nice. Like it when you have something that's very nice quality and looks it's been worn for a long time. His attitude is nice too.
I bet he drinks Dos Equis.
Very Old Shoes.. no ? It's coooool ;)
xoxo
http://noumias-papers.blogspot.com/
Oh there it is!!! the perfect backpack! does anyone know where this is from or where to get something similar? So tired of biking around the city with bags dangling here and there all the time : o
And the rest is nicely put together!
There is something so adorable about this man. I don't know what it is. Just catches my heart a little!
heart: Miss Furnellie
Attractive,stylish,and looks approachable.
As a stylish guy in DC (yes, there are a few) about to turn *GULP* 55, I too am very much bothered by the remark that he is not dressed his age. What the hell does that mean? Do you know how old he is? Nothing on him looks silly or inappropriate. In fact, I think the rolled jeans on a younger man would just look a little too “fashiony”. It looks like they’d be too long rolled down anyway; so, simply as a practical matter, he’s ended up with a little something extra. Whether he’s a bike courier or not, I think it looks great. It’s a look, tho, that I just can’t quite do- won’t roll my jeans, and I can’t wear worn out shoes! Nonetheless, I think he’s got it all just right. From the looks of his grooming (hair and beard) and that expensive-looking bag, he can probably out-fashion most guys any day of the week. I bet he’s got a closet full of Ralph for the stuffy meetings and something Italian for the other times. Curious what he’s thinking. Did you have to talk him into the photo? Looks like he wants you to go away.
Love the old beat up red PF Flyer N5's. They make the look complete.
some people can just pull it off and capture attention with simple jeans, shirt, and shoes. this man just did and looked sexy. great shot!
love this bag
http://antoinelimposteur.blogspot.com/
I can't find that color combo in PF Flyers anywhere. Anyone have a suggestion on where to look?
What would one have to do to meet a man like this, fall in love and travel the world together? *sigh* Wonderful photo, great clothes, lovely face. Style all around.
love the look, clothes and man. very attractive.
