Men in suits on bikes. I wish we saw more of that. What a handsome man. Fantastic shot scott
great photo! wish more people in america would ride bikes.
amber
i love this! in europe bicycling seems to be just a part of living and so one will see people in a variety of dress on bikes, including this dapper gent. i wish we had the same type of bike lifestyle in the us.
Very elegant!!
very smart!
Another brilliant shot of a man doing something athletic while dressed elegantly.
I especially love how he "dressed"
his front fender.

couldn't imagine on the bike! really cool!
So Chic !

I'm in love ... with navy and a good gabardine suit!!!
say nothing of the gent ...
Such a handsome and well-dressed man riding his bike! x

bike and suit!? NICE!
http://eclecticraccoon.blogspot.com/
perfect
His pose is great!
Fantastic shot, fantastic man!
Simple and classic. Just goes to show you can beat a good navy suit. Looks like two buttons, bit of white cuff showing. More of this sort of thing in London as well with 'Boris's bikes' getting everywhere in town.
OK, how did you take this picture, since the spokes aren't moving and yet he looks balanced on the bike as if he were.
Wow, gorgeous. And it's amazing that you got him standing still.
Stylish men+vintage bikes=♥

the bike seals the deal...!
All I can see is the beautiful, beautiful, beautiful quality of the fabric. Swoon!
suit and bike combo is fantastic!
http://cashmereandcandy.blogspot.com
I've never thought to put sexy and bicycles together, first time for everything I suppose. ; )
Luxe-athletic.
Great shot.
Beautiful bike. And the guy is not bad either.
Yes. I like this. I'm going out to buy both a bike and a suit. RIGHT NOW.
so elegant...
People in suits on bikes are the perfect combination! They will never fail to be cool in my book.
Handsome!
HANDSOME.
gorgeous bike, too.
Wonderful shot. People really should ride their bikes more often.
http://ficklecattle.blogspot.com/
Love those Dutch bikes! I want one now!!
Shoes! Beautiful Shoes and bike!
Regarding "not moving" and "standing still" comments, google: "shutter speed". I don't understand the comments regarding bikes in Europe, unless they have never been there or never read. People commute to work on them, thousands of people, more bikes parked at a train station than cars esp. in Netherlands, France. Paris has public bike-for-rent, whereby you take one, drop it off at a stand at your destination. Commercial deliveries all by bike.Gasoline about $5 to $6 a gallon, Taxis are insanely expensive, Bikers in suits, dresses, even in the rain. Getting more common now in NY but really dangerous ( I have had 2 friends killed, by Taxis, of course).BEAUTIFUL SHOES, SUIT,fit, color and fabric
Charming! I love the way italians look!
Scott, you've done it again. Another incredibly beautiful photograph. The light is very special this time of year, and only gets better as each day passes.
This man looks so chic in his gorgeous suit, meticulously polished shoes, great hair cut, and matching bicycle. He certainly is one very sexy man!
He is eye candy for this American!
Great shot. Hooray for socks!
Indeed, what a hadsome gentleman; it's so sexy to see a gorgeous in a proper suit and shiny shoes! Are his shoes two-toned cap shoes? HOT!
What an elegant bike!
We love men in suits, - but then we are probably a little bit biased. He's certainly riding his bike with great power and style, that's for sure. - Not one bead of sweat on that forehead!
omg, SO elegant! on beautiful bike! this is the kind of man i want to be with :)

bicycles r always soo cool
http://donotshoeme.blogspot.com/
So elegant and handsome...suits should be functional, and I love how he demonstrates that while looking so good!
http://tovogueorbust.blogspot.com/
Can someone tell me how to ride a bicycle and not get shoes scuffed?
Great. I like the pose.
Good job Scott.
www.thefashionalists.blogspot.com
yay! he's wearing socks! i, for one, hope this is the start of a trend.
He looks fly and graceful at the same time.

why have i never seen so stylish men on bikes here in greece?
i wish i'd meet one like him one day!
http://in7thheavenwithmarc.blogspot.com/
Why don't you have the same type of biking mentality/lifestyle in US as we do in Europe? I never quite understood that. I'm from Finland but am living in Canada now, and even here, I don't see the same biking style as in Europe. I bike here with a skirt and high heels on and sure get a lot of stares from people in the cars and otherwise - I guess because I'm not wearing a Nike outfit and runners. And I'm NOT wearing a helmet, ever. My hair, after all.
what on earth is he doing on this site? He's wearing socks! :)
May I suggest a visit to Amsterdam in your future? Living there some years ago was the best year of my life. The Dutch cycle everywhere, bikes being the primary form of transportation. Additionally, they're basically a tall people, so imagine everyone being 'long and lean' as well as fair and well dressed. Basically they're stunning! And then there is the cheese and chocolate!
robert - innatestyle
He looks so slick, I wish I could see men on bikes all the time. the shot is beautiful as well.
fashionanatomie.blogspot.com
Now THAT'S the way for a grown man to be seen riding a bike to work. Elegant Batavus/Dutch-style bike WITH fenders and chain guard to save the suit, suit cuffed and hemmed just right, The proper pannier AND socks!
I don't know about anyone else, but I 've had quite enough of sockess men in trendy, ill-fitting suits riding track bikes.
How does one ride a bike and not sweat through formal attire? I need to work this out...
Uh, I know about shutter speed, but even so, that must be a very fast one, those spokes are still, not blurred.
OK, get the idea of shutter speed, my mistake.
After leaving North America to settle across the Atlantic 3 years ago I have finally accepted that this sort of gentleman is just your average European joe using a convenient urban mode of transport, and not an exotic fashion plate. Though, of course, that doesn't stop me from sighing with the sheer visual pleasure of it all...
What is it about Italian men that just enables them to look stylish in any situation? And Damien, I also wondered how the hell he managed to cycle whilst wearing formal attire. But after thinking about it, I very much doubt he was in much danger of breaking a sweat as this fellow seems more concerned with posing than commuting. And I say that with nothing but admiration as he works his classic Euro-suave look to perfection X
ella-lapetiteanglaise.blogspot.com
loving this look scott. i'm totally with you in the fascination with dark navy blue suits.. and also the bike trend.
I've seen one of best fashions in Antwerp Belgium. Scott, you should visit that city.
so handsome!!
I wish I could look as smart as this when I'm cycling to work!
love the shoes

lekisskiss.blogspot.com <-- Texas gal bloggin fashion from NYC!
nobody does it better than italians! nowhere in the world could you see such a classy cyclist!
Men with suits on bikes ... I think that shall be my new mantra. Awesome.
wow what a great shot!
x
I wish I looked that good on a bike. Curse you, Italian men in nice suits. Curse you. ;)
"Can someone tell me how to ride a bicycle and not get shoes scuffed?"
It's the same as walking, you polish them when you need to. Though I find walking much harder on my shoes than cycling.
"But after thinking about it, I very much doubt he was in much danger of breaking a sweat as this fellow seems more concerned with posing than commuting."
You don't actually have to ride at breakneck speed. So you don't actually have to break a sweat. I ride slowly in summer and wear light dresses - no sweat, just a lovely self-made breeze.
very stylish
Can someone tell me the name of that bike, or even just the type of bike? Thanks so much!!!!
Beautiful shot! @Damian the trick to not sweating is don't ride so fast. I lived in the netherlands for years and no one showers when they get to work, but they also ride at a more civilized pace than many cyclists in Australia do. ;-)
How does he stop his suit pants from getting caught in the chain?
the bike looks elegant, too.
Wow, this is completely timeless. And a blue suit! Niiice.

I love how dynamic this shot is! Great composition!
Shoestring Traveler, a blog by a veteran (and survivor) of the cruise ship industry
Ohhhh, LOVE this. Great composition in the shot. Wow!
I totally hear Pia on the helmet/hair thing ... but this is one of the few times I'll break my "wanna look stylish" rule - and I wear a helmet, I don't care how much it ruins my outfit. I'd rather have helmet hair and arrive alive (the helmet comes off the NANOSECOND I dismount!) than be dead in a great outfit. I'm in Canada, too ... drivers aren't as used to cyclists in this country!
how chic, truly.
www.citizette.com
gorgeous
Mmmmmmmmmm.....
Wow! I have never seen anyone look this good while riding a bike. But then this look would be impossible in the US anyway, because he'd be required to wear an ugly bike helmet. And that would spoil it.
He's dashing!
I love the fit of his suit & the rich color!
I absolutely love this shot, from the suit to the bike to the shoes, just fab
So perfect from head to toe. Makes me want to see his tie. Must be a privately owned bike, too, as it's not the fairly new publically owned rental bikes, which are colored cream and orange (see http://mymilanitaly.blogspot.com).
The more 'street style' blogs that pop up, the more I realise what makes you so different. It's a quiet sort of elegance.
love the suit, the bike and the photo!!!!!
Linda,
The bike bike has a full chaincase! With the chain fully enclosed, there is no risk of grease stains and snags on the pants.
OMG! some women (or men) are really lucky!!!
Great shoot!
marry me! lol
this is a gorgeous photo, so classy and chic

Classy combination!
it's fun to be able to ride a bicycle for transportation and not just a work out. I hope more people take it up.
wonderful pic, great job! <3

Here in Milan they do know how to be elegant in every moment of the day and it comes naturally. I love the shot also.

Pretty classic - but classic never bore.
And a man wearing like this on a bicycle is pure delight! :)

Suits and bike. Who would have thought?!
Timeless and Elegant!
I wish I could be as elegant on my own bike...

Is he scratching his butt?! Nice shot though!
So elegant. J'Adore.

Why is it that every blue suit I own or see in stores is so dark they basically appear black?
I love the color of this one.
Loving the salt and pepper hair on these gorgeuous men!

In some part of Italy is common to use bikes to commute to work and to attend other business (shopping, etc.), expecially in northern Italy where there are many cities (like Milan) which are flat and easy to cycle around. I was raised in one of this small cities and we all go around with bikes, even my parents who are in their seventies. Normally if you bike around the city with such a formal dress means you live in the city centre not too far from where you work (or maybe you go to work by car and than you have a bike to stroll around the city). But if a street in Milan is so empty like it's in this pic it can only be taken on sunday.
Slick! And a very nice bike. I do wish we could get a better view of his saddlebag/briefcase. Bikes and suits really do work unexpectedly well together.
Beautiful suit, particularly beautiful shoes.....although traditional. I am hoping for more photos of young and vibrantly creative dressers soon Sart! I mean particularly teenagers--so many of the ones I see around are inspiringly confident, articulate and thoughtfully creative in their dress sense. I am sure this must also be the case in other parts of the world. I wish I'd had all those qualities many decades ago.
I also agree with anonymous' comment re the people in Amsterdam. Too true--they are an inherently beautiful tall race--but bicycling certainly must help their leanness.
Bicycling is only really taking off in Sydney recently. Proposals of building bike tracks is met with passion for and against so it's difficult to establish this culture--the city was never planned with bikes in mind. This is part of the problem.
Another part is we have a love affair with the convenience of the car and many have to travel long distances to work. It's not uncommon for travel to be around 1-2 hours to and from work with public transport or the car.
Attempting to bike most places is taking your life in your hands and breathing the heavy traffic fumes is also not that great for your lungs which perpetually puts most off even trying.
BTW--helmets are compulsory here.
This photo reminds me of Oxford. More businessmen should ride bikes. Great photography.
Notice the center-vent suit when most businessmen choose to wear double-vented ones these days. Neat!
Nothing not to love here. How do you say "double oh seven" in Italian?
Very very nice shoulders.. Hand-made??
I guess so
Philippe

They tend to do everything slower in Europe: riding a bike without breaking a sweat; eating a meal without getting indigestion etc.
We could learn something!
Thursday I'm in love ...
Striking photo. The angles of dark arms and legs juxtaposed against the angles of the bicycle frame ...
Helps to have a good looking man with a lean silhouette too.
Love the photo and I already wrote.
But thinking more about the idea of biking to work. I do it, but with a helmet on. There are too many angry car drivers in the U.S.
Also, the bikes here in the U.S. tend not to be city bikes and don't have the chain guard seen in this photo. That makes for greasy pants and is the reason I usually wear jeans when biking to work. Wonder if I can fit a chain guard onto my mountain bike ...
Simply amazing!!
sharp!
Love Dutch bikes, suits and hard shoes!
First "black" shoe [in an Italian shot] in a while, as well...
The hand brakes look like Formula 1 gear shifts!
that is a beautiful suit riding a beautiful bike. Scott, did you get the name and style of the bike at all?
A very classic look!
very nice indeed!
So elegant!
yes, he cuts quite a dashing figure!
I LOVE this photograph. There's nothing better than a man in beautifully tailored suit. Yesterday on Who What Wear there was an article about stylish men featuring the costume designer from Mad Men, Janie Bryant. This reminds me of it.

what a handsome man!
love love love
handsome italian ecouomo
Fabulous !
Agreeing with the others who have applauded his use of socks. Nothing looks more ridiculous or more uncomfortable to me than men wearing dress shoes without socks, and I am not some old fogey.
this is why i need to go to italy
I love a suited man on a bike...nice!
I would kill for that suit.
Even the bike looks classy
Inspiredbyfabrics.com
so gorgeous outfit
wow like this suits
I'm just thrilled to see oxfords and socks. In my opinion, if you want to wear a suit and still reflect the summer season, wear a navy suit like this one. No need to dandy it up.
Cities would be more pleasant to live in if more of us went by bike...
Love your blog.I´ve reading it for a long time. I´m new in this world of blogging. Hope you´ll leave a comment one day :)
I wish there were men like this in Poland. Love it!
Wow. My dream man. Suited, shoes perfectly shined, and on a bike to boot.
Nice pics! great blog!:-)
Just when I think I live in a world bereft of beauty, I come to your list. Thank you again and again.
Professionally sexy yet cute (on the velo)! But, French men are better...
Oh the Italians!
They really know how to live.
I'd like to be an apprentice to at least one of these stylish men & women of Italy.
This guy looks great, of course, but I second the query from B. Wayne. Whatever happened to blue suits that are not deep dark blue?
I love his bike! It's great to see more and more people traveling by bike.
Suave or what. Love how the bike completely fits his outfit, and that its a classic bike; which adds to the look.
Love love love

Now anyone with a benz can ride a bike what a wonderful way to go green!
Great shot!
The men I see riding around on bikes suave as this. Love that style of bike too. Very European. x
I LOVE THIS PICTURE
how classy and natural he is at the same time .. I don t really know how to express it but this picture reflects something I love
http://mlpdm.com
I love the composition of this photos; the angle of his leg and the wheels - it's fantastic. So sophisticated on a bike, such style.
xx Vanessa
Lol, this pic doesn't really help your case that you're not obsessed with people on bikes. That said, the subtle shine and wonderful tailoring of the suit just made this picture for me. And yes, it is nice to see clothes in motion isn't it? And what better opportunity to see it than on a bicycle?
Milan has so much charm and obviously so do the men! "you look sweet going down the street on your bicycle dressed in blue" :)
http://www.cicidi.com/
Ah, such an exquisite gentleman and so smart looking, too. Those shoes!
Dear Scott,
We haven't had a post since Wednesday. Is everything okay? Hope so.
Your loyal reader,

will show my boys this photo today. they can ride their bikes and look incredibly dapper at the same time. fabulous shot.
Perfect.

You should come to Amsterdam.
I wish I lived in Milan!!!
really elegant, even in a bike!
Elegant! I like
www.thefashionalists.blogspot.com
How classy! They don't usually make them like this anymore.
SImply......cool!
Man+suit+bike= me falling in love
If he got an attache case, how could he handle it?
Very nice. Bicycling parallell to streetcar tracks however can be a bit risky, as if one doesn't take care, the front tire can get stuck. The rider then usually keeps on moving forward over the handlebars... Would it be possible to design with a helmet that could fit like a cap, or under a hat or a scarf, and be based on the technique used for airbags in cars?
I love the colors ! And how you took the picture. It's just an amazing work ! www.larecessionista.fr
I love the fact that men all across our world (except for the U.S.) ride bikes at any age. That will surely be me in the next 30 years. Except a little bit more chocolatie.
this is a great photo. But I would love to see you post shots of bicyclists wearing helmets. There is a notion that a helmet ruins the fashion forward look of riding a bike (I myself dont always enjoy wearing a helmet). But I think its always cooler to value and protect your brain, and I think that there is an inherent cool attributed to people who dont give a damn how ridiculous a helmet makes them look. And besides I am sure you could find someone who makes a helmet look good. I could use the inspiration.
The bike is as polished as his shoes....
Suit + Bike = Sooooo Simple & Fancy!!
Only in Italia! He works that look...
Very classic bike... anyone know of the brand?
what a perfectly poised pose - I'd fall off.
cheers,
JJ Scholl
The suit looks great. The man in the suit, even better!

I like the cloth splash guard over the tires, necessary for such attire.
Never seen anything like that for sale anywhere, probably because in the US anyone who cycles does so dressed like an alien.
Love, love, love the picture! The essence of sleek.
Can't go wrong with a suit
Best of Milan. Love it. So sharp.
My future husband will have this same sense of style AND transportation.
Yes! Yes! Yes! He makes wearing a suit and riding a bike seem as natural as breathing.
So chic!
i am a massive fan of the use of bikes full stop. if we were to see more of this: confident, professional people using bikes as a vital means of transport, if it were to become a fad per se i think it could end up making a massive impact on our lives as real people and the effects leading from that are multitudinous, real and good. lets hope this catches on!
It all works.Gorgeous.
Hi,
Nice suit.
Either tailor made or of a good brand.

I'm jealous of the person he's biking towards!
