Comments on "On the Street......All About the Shades, Florence"
I love the green touch. Just perfect colour combination.. seems like just causal, but I think he did work on it. Really handsome, compliments!
Classy, sexy and I love the sunglasses : I think this man shows us the 2010 summer's way for sunglasses ......
I have shades like that! But not real vintage.
Love these subdued shades of summer. I'll file this as a reference inspiration.

Everything matches PERFECT. But he could have left out the foulard in the breast pocket..
Loving the shades :)

great picture! love the sunglasses and the little green pocket square.
All about the beard too... What a clean and fresh look he has!
I finally finished going through your book and I must say it is a well compiled book. I'm full of inspiration now! Thank you!
Love his blazer/jacket and the green polka dot print peeking out from the light brown. He looks very chic!

the perfect colors to wear for a man in summer to be smart^^
Love it!
Great shot. This is a stylish gentlemen, I love his extra styling details.

Beautifully dressed man.
Great Style!
anyone else instantly fell in love with that handkerchief in his pocket? nice little touch
Barbora
He couldn't be more elegant.
Those sunglasses are absolutely beautiful! Also, I just love the green poking out of his pocket!
http://FaceySarah.tumblr.com
oooooww....I love the sunglass!!!!!
it's magnificent how horn shades became the revolution against big glasses...
ray ban's clubmaster revival is just one example. this man knows how he could accentuate his face, not hide it.
That's what middle age elegance means!
So I looked closely - and in terms of colour, everything about this man is in shades! Shades of white and brown (black). Even the hair and the beard! The skin, the buttons. Phenomenal.
Nevertheless, I also like the green pocket square. It seems to bring along a certain theme of it's own - circles.
What makes me wonder is whether this person has bought certain types of clothes and accessories as part of his very personal sense of style, and thus the things just come together in his attire in an almost invisible manner. Or, b) he has spent an amount of time picking out exactly these colours and shapes.
Is this all accidental or.. "accidental"?
I do not go on pondering about these things all day long, but the pictures make me think about it. Thank you
love the tortoiseshell glasses
http://www.dolls-and-guys.blogspot.com/
love the glasses , and the dotted-green handkerchief . he looks incrediblely chic , i love it !

I LOVE these colors...it's exactly the same that I chose for my dress at my step daughters wedding.
Worst faux pas ever...her mom had the exact same dress!
http://lisapetrarca.blogspot.com/2010/07/wedding-day-pictures.html
i have all those pieces in my closet and have never thought to put it together that way. bravo
8-)
Before I noticed his shades... the polk-a-dot handkerchief. He owns this outfit w/his accessories.
This picture made my mind up. I will have to buy a pair of white pants.
Spectacular!
Spectacular!
Yet another thing to crave!
the green pocket square is so perfect - love those buttons too! fantastic details in this look! (including those sunglasses, of course!)
My God!!! This is a man in every aspect ... So cool ...
Love love love this look. Especially the glasses and pocket square-what a dapper gentleman.

not just the shades and you know it..( he does too) -a,.
love it. all about the blazer buttons for me.
i like it very much, he's..perfect in a way, but i am really curious about a thing...what shoes did he have?
Dear Scott
I love this picture! The man, his attitude, every complement to the outfit... it's great! and, I love your work. I'm really addicted to your blog, I've read it every single day. Big hug for you, greetings from Colombia.
nice jacket - great buttons
Yep - he's pretty cool.
There is a little something shady (pun intended) about men over 55 and DARK sunglasses for me. Not sure why.
Classy.
great outfit- love the kerchief
Great shades, but I really Love his jacket!
Perfect!
this is pure elegance. Love the touch of colour of the green pochette.
I Love this man.

beautiful (:
i love tortoise shell,
this man pulls it off so very well.
I hate to disagree, but I love the fabric of his jacket and the color of the pocket square, not to mention the jacket buttons. The sunglasses are cool, but they don't make the look as much as the other details for me.
AMAZING look. The cool in this man is inspiring.
AMAZING look. The cool in this man is inspiring.
Very nice look!
Really?
The pocket square is classic, and I am glad he does not muddle this up with a tie. I think something that rings true here is the saying "you can take the cat out of the jungle, but you can't take the jungle out of the cat."
I would have to disagree.... It's all about the green pocket square. The outfit would be completely different without it. Yes the glasses are certainly cool, however, his genius is the pocket square.
Not a fan of facial hair, but he pulls it off.
Middle aged italian men know how to do it...the shades are a masterpiece but the whole ensemble from the polka dot pocket squase to the open shirt, is amazing
Tellement de classe !!!
meravigliosa la pochette!!

Such a cool, easy look. I love everything about it! -Angela
You're right!
It's all about the shades, and the shirt, and the jacket, and the pocket square, and the ring, and the belt, and the pants, and the facial hair and great haircut.
It would probably be about his shoes, too, if I could see them.
I want to adopt this guy as my alter-ego.
S U P E R B !!

Those are great shades. Very early 90's. Love the whole look!
The crispy white shirt! It enhances everything else.
I like the sunglasses, but it's also about the beard, hairstyle, and green pocket square. The linen sport coat and tan are nice too. Awesome. I wonder if he's still getting the chicks, at his age?
oooh LOVE his glasses! give me give me!
mamma mia!
Oh god he is immaculate. Everything works here--that jacket fits perfectly--it's shape is divine--the colour is amazing. The bone trousers with casual white shirt is clever --not too much white. The shirt unbuttoned to just the right spot, the belt just the right width for the outfit--his glasses and pocket square lift this outfit to make it cool. His hair and beard are superb and his skin looks healthy. Sexy without being in your face. Ohhh, have I said enough? Maybe too much.....;)
I love the sunglasses but I like his crinkled eyes too .. Very nice ~
oh wow i hope my fiance dresses like this when he gets older! fantastic! love the green touch!
http://www.pinkpeonieswithlove.blogspot.com
Wonderful- the pocket square is perfect!
I think I'm in love.
For some reason the thing that stands out the most to me is the pocketsquare. I love polka dots!
FANTASTIC! green is superb and glasses are just beyond.
Love the western belt.
For me it's more about that crisp white shirt.
Really nice contrast between scruffy and clean. Love the pocket square.
Great style and shot.
i love everything about this guy!

i love the touch of color! green polkadots:)

I'm in love!!!
Love the neutral colors of this outfit, very elegant!

just perfect !
un exemple à suivre Messieurs !
multo bello!
perfection.
The ring combines with the buttons of his jacket...and that dark and refreshing green...and the luminous, shining white shirt...and...PERFECT
I love this style
i love good looking old people!
Style...!!!
Style...!!!
let's say it's all about the details ;) the shades, green pocket square, the jacket buttons, the ring..
The sunglasses !
Mine look a bit like that too. Love it. This year isn't a "wide sunglasses" year. Definitly.
this is a MAN.
Effortless, relaxed, very good. His being lean and lightly tanned helps, too.
oh, i love this picture very much! ;)

Modern man
I love that you post a lot of pictures of people who're in Florence. I will be in that wonderful city for three months in fall and I'm so looking forward to that!
I like the unbuttoned shirt and the pocket square.
for me, it's all about the pocket square, the collar, and the rings.
This is the result of taking care of oneself. Beautiful!! And thank you The Sartorialist for showing real people and real style.
In Hollywood it is rear to see a full beard cos they all have mid face lift. This is nature at its best.
Pocket squares are in "my fav little details" list - and this little green touch of colour is just perfect.
http://www.isthisitmodelsreview.com/
Perfect!!!
ahahah i know him!!
was a fantastic surprise to see him on here :D
lovely!!!!! as always!!
Love the green with the beige of his jacket.
Am I the only one who thinks that the shirt's arms are too short?
This look has lots of subtle echoes:
green glass in glasses - green pocket square
dots - round buttons - round glasses - rings
white/browns: jacket & shirt - rings - buttons - belt & buckle
This is a hot, gorgeous, stylish man, and he'll still be hot in ten or twenty more years. What a face!
He looks like an adventurer about to open an Egyptian tomb full of treasures. Or at least, like a financier visiting the archaeological expedition that's about to open the Egyptian tomb. I do love making up stories about the Sartorialist's very real characters.
http://cloudofsecrets.blogspot.com
This is wonderful! More men should wear pocket squares - especially when worn this casually.
Cheers!
existenceET.blogspot.com
The buttons on that blazer are insane! Optics are classic, and the ring is just epic...!
http://jimjims.net/
He's so all about circles! From the glasses, to the accents on the pocket square, to the stand-out buttons. Very classy!
Becca
perfetto!
I hope there are young men (20s,30s)that read this blog and the comments above. This is casual, sophisticated elegance (with reference to the casual fridays comments)comfortable, even in the hottest weather, can be very inexpensive, and as recorded above, women LOVE it. Great glasses. Great ring (an oversized wedding ring worn with pride?)Miravihlioso.
easily my favorite look of the summer!
I like this outfit, understated, a tad cool when it's so hot outside. The white shirt is opened almost to his mid chest, but doesn't look sleazy. He has that intense worn out look of an architect.
Those darn Italians always are the best dressed. WOW!
HOT!!!!!!!!!!
The crispness of the shirt and staunchness of his collar make him hit in this outfit.
Can anyone tell me the brand of sunglasses? Thanks!
Handsome gentleman, because he looks real, wrinkles, scraggly beard and all. Big yes to the shades. Yes to the pocket square, but not in that colour. It says: "I wanted to add something, and this green pocket square is the only thing I found".
Very nice and versatile Jacket! I love the polka dot accent!
Love how his hair color goes with the outfits color palette.
Cheers-
Zack
such universal praise. and i agree with all of it too !
Looks like my dad. But my dad doesn't dress as cool as this man...
Stylish gentlemen, I love his extra styling details
wow love this man... reminds me of Hugh Laurie, Dr. House... is he? perfect style.
What can I say.... Just perfect!

-diary of a fashion stylist-
My casual never looks this cool.
The jacket!!! Look at those shoulders.. Amazing! Does anyone have an idea of what brand it is? But since it sits so perfectly on this guy it is probably made bespoke. I want one. Badly!
Though the shades are so unique, I cannot help but be drawn to the green pocket square. It and the glasses are just too perfect of a combination!
charming !!!
Lovely photo, lovely man (could he wash his hair, though, please?), lovely almost perfect clothes...the "after thought" effect of the pocket square could have been remedied, I think, by placing it more casually into the pocket, in line with the rest of the classy, but casual, look. Makes me want to see if his shoes were up to snuff with the rest of the outfit.
sooooo sexy
One of the best outfits I've ever seen on the blog. Beautiful blazer, and he pairs it perfectly, only enhancing the look. WONDERFUL. I'd like him to teach other men how to dress! In fact, I could even take a hint or two from him I bet.
I love this look. As classic as you can get, and the sunglasses along with the (Looks like green? dotted) pocket scarf are the perfect accessories. He is good looking and very nicely put together. I love tonality in dressing especially in the summertime!
So clean and classy! <3 <3
Hola Signore, will you marry me?
So Sexy
OK, I admit, I'm getting on a bit and still think like a 25yr old. Could this gentleman please come to London and be my personal stylist.
That's a nice jacket. Opening the second and sometimes the third or fourth button is so Italian (and French btw). When I was in Japan and wore a Yukata some (Australian) girl commented on my 'nice body' since that garment gave her a view of my upper torso...so I completely see the point in opening ones shirt like that (apart from the heat).
Elegante!!! The only thing that throws me is the western themed belt. Makes me wonder what his footwear choice is....
Classic combination of style and cool......love the glasses
lovin the shades
http://girl-and-goatherd.blogspot.com/
I just want to drink wine with this guy.
www.jasonromaine.com
love the crisp top and the green pocket scarf, the glasses just add a touch of individuality.
http://chaoticdesolation.blogspot.com
The man has 'style' written all over him....love to see what he his wearing on his feet, got to be driving shoes...!!!
Great Style!!!
the jacket is the perfect length
perfection. clothes fit perfectly, color scheme is beautiful -- simple but still interesting, touch of green, great glasses. love.

O sole mio... My gentleman here is relaxed refined and I am needing an aperitivo just thinking about sharing a lovely afternoon. Let's avoid sounding like a personal ad but simply acknowledge the nicely unbuttoned charm when we see it. Baci Tutto!
i hope my husband looks that good wen hes older
http://insidemyheadandwardronbe.blogspot.com/
It's so italian. Love it!
Great color combination, smart yet cool... love the silver bucle
Would happily trade my first-born for the glasses !
