love the color of the jacket
I love men who wear colour.
Really? I've got to say, a man can never go wrong with loafers, but adidas bright white trainers?.....
Wicked-cool jacket, though. Now THAT is a style sensation. :)

P.s, feedback, as ever is HUGELY appreciated.
P.p.s, great to have you blogging regularly again. x
I agree with you, the Adidas shoes give his look something else...he looks like a past champion athlete, but an incredibly chic one.

oh florence! the most beautiful people.
that's a beautiful jacket, he has the perfect pop of colour needed for summer

Italians do it better!awesome!

thanks..
Love this deep and bright type of orange.
To all Dutch soccer supporters: sophisticated orange is possible people! Learn!
hate the sneakers but i just love it!
I love his expression, he knows he looks good! XOXO, Natalya
It's interesting that trainers can look so daring - but they do; it's like a break with 'the rules'. How does he keep them so clean, I wonder.
haha love it, old man with addidas is so cool!
xx http://asianeyedgirl.blogspot.com/
The colour of his jacket is imence,
And his face tells so many stories, wow.
I want to say wrong but this dude looks really cool somehow and it takes years off his age.
It's the rolled up thing + sneakers I guess...
He makes the confy look work with style!
Are small socks on the trend?
not feeling the sneakers. could have worn something more expressive in leather: moccasins, sandals,....
great contrast, and the reverse works as well. sweats and t-shirt with unexpected loafers.
Awesome outfit, from shins upwards. The sneakers kill it for me...
I love the color of the Jacket! so summer style!
i love his jacket
Love it - the influence of the Jil Sander show for Spring 2011 of a few days ago is already asserting itself in the bright color seen here.
RJT
wonderful shade orange+white is so nice and clean and fresh and sherbet-y and I'll stop ranting now.
sneakers are a nice sporty touch
i couldn't love it anymore. if you've got to wear sneakers, this is how to do it.
It takes a confident or retired man to wear that jacket. BTW, I'm most impressed by his blinding whites. His wife or laundress must buy bleach in bulk.
I think loafers or espadrilles would have looked better than Adidas personally.
Running shoes with jacket? No thanks!
Orange espadrilles would be really better.
I am loving the orange blazer the most.
word
I usually only leave snide comments, but not today. This gentleman has figured out how to wear sneakers in good taste. Amazing!
he's so stylish !!
wow a male who can pull of a outfit of orange blazer, white pants and adidas shoes with a gentlemen looks! that is really stylish!

hw I always say : confort over all

really cool look !
My heart sank when I saw the running shoes. I pray that this unfortunate american staple doesn't catch on in Italy.
Dark skin and dark colour with with are perfect combination!

i am surprised about the adidas i was in florence last month and you only see tourist in sneakers.
i like the bold look in his eyes though, with a confident attitude you can pull off most everything.

Great look, and love the jacket!

Orange!!! Weee! So playful and elegant at the same time.
I think white canvas Jack Purcells or Sperrys would have been a better choice.
While overall the outfit looks great, this is an ensemble in which you don't dare remove the jacket lest you be mistaken for a waiter!
ooooh, haven't been here in so long, love the white and tangerine colors, soooo summmer!
The orange with white is great and he looks wonderful....until you get to the shoes! Just can't get with that look.
I don't understand how so many can disparage the man's sneakers. They are nicely designed, and with a little blue in them, they provide the perfect compliment to the orange jacket. Orange is such a strong statement, and the casualness of the sneakers softens it. It's also a question of comfort. I like to mix my converse sneakers with my jackets, but a nice, clean pair of adidas would be even more comfortable and unexpectedly stylish.
I MIGHT WALK RIGHT PAST THIS MAN IF HE WAS NOT WEARING SUCH A LOVELY JACKET, AND THE COLOR, OF COURSE, MAKES IT...
XXOO

This is interesting and stylish. The last slew of photos have been kind of boring or maybe I'm just losing interest.
I love the outfit, but the sneakers have the most character. To me it says this gentleman knows what he likes and doesn't sacrifice comfort OR style - just redefines it. I also get the sense that he is active and modern... all from the choice of footwear with this outfit.
Also, I totally agree that the blue foils the orange jacket very well! It looks like he might have a white handkerchief with blue and orange detail in his pocket... anyone else see that?
definition of cool.

he looks sooo comfortable in what he wears...and I'm not just saying that because he's wearing a pair of sneakers, he just looks totally at ease with the whole outfit.
I've always felt that sneakers can be worn in many summer situations. As long as they are brand new looking and not overly designed.
he look's so fresh
i cannot agree.... It doesnot work for me... man his age only should wear sneakers either for the gym or running! and sockless of course...!
This jacket is spectacular, and the combination with white very interesting. But I would have loved to see it with espadrilles.
i agree! it's his refinement that makes it. he's beeeeauuuutiful.
When orange is done right, you can start quite a fire. Bravo!!

He gives off an affluent man's vibe done right. I love that men can exude style such as this.

Just wanted to say I love your blog! I'm not usually too into the fashion scene but your images are just so inspiring - thanks! :)
I'm lovin the orange blazer. Yes if he was wearing loafers then we might not have as much to comment on, but I think the loafers would of looked a little better!
Orange & White. The sun at dawn.Happy, mystic and Hermes.
I have to disagree on those shoes. There are much smarter sneakers on the market that would've stood out as the jacket does.
i agree!!!
imagination is most important to enjoy fashion.
yes yes YES! Totally interesting and modern...
Glad you featured this because for me the Sartorialist was getting too 'Loafer-fied' and Bourgeois/refined. Big/sports trainers are also more and more popular recently a la 90s...check out New Power Studio etc...
LOVE IT, thanks Sart I'm back on board.
Clym
ah, yes, what a wonderful combination ..& what a beautiful man..
hehe the adidas!
That is a cool man!

.....the diary of a fashion stylist.....
I hope I look this good when I am his age. This one still kicks; you better watch out!
Oh that is amazing! Orange is one of my favorite colors although you do risk resembling a safety cone. He, however, wears this well.
http://watermelonfeet.blogspot.com
I want that jacket!
He is so italian. A classy gent with style ,but youthful features like the sneaker or the great bright blazer.
He is just perfect! Congrats.
aaawwwww he's married :(
I love his adidas shoes. I doubt this design is available in the States (I'm a girl, so I'm not sure about men's shoes). Comparatively, European footwear makers tend to design more casual and stylish sneakers, as opposed to the muscle shoes (just think adidas and PUMA vs. Nike). Partially, I think it's because Americans wear sneakers as sports gears rather than a fashion piece for walking around town. How many walking cities do we have in the US?!
I'm not sure about the sneakers... I love his jacket though!

Great linen jacket
This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
This reminds me of a dear departed friend and mentor who rocked bright orange Adidas sneakers with hand tailored Japanese-inspired clothing. She wanted to be comfortable and look good and she always did.
Muy elegante el cóctel para un señor que entiende seguro.
You're right, the sneakers add something. He would look overdressed in loafers, and not as comfy. I love the jacket, linen, I'm guessing. It rocks.
I like the mixture of colors and that of shoes of sport allied to a really smart suit!
Great grandpa!
casual perfection
Actually, after looking at this picture a second time, I actually think that espadrilles or loafers wouldn't have worked nearly as well. They are simply too common and staid, or at least too expected. The sneakers on the other hand, lend themselves nicely with both the touch of blue while also extending the white motif to his feet. They make him seem more laid back, young and fit than if he were wearing a more traditional shoe.

Way to be fresh and comfortable. I'm diggin' it.
Strange choice of fashion but the white shoes, pants and shirt gives off a vibrant youth. Great spot!
I agree. The loafers would do this look no justice!
He looks smashing in that jacket! A bold and confident look that he carries off well.
I *really hate* glompy sports shoes off the sports court. A slim pair of loafers, or even a pair of Wallabies for pete's sake, would have been so much better. On the other hand, the increasing years bring (sigh) annoying health problems, and he probably has foot pain. The practicalities of real life off the catwalk force compromises between our senses of style and the do-able.
Yes, he might look less 'interesting', but he would look better !
I agree with the Sartorialist, and may I add this gentleman suits the vibrant orange and stark white, I love it! He really does look comfortable while staying chic. Tres cool!
Oooo no--people with runners on with anything other than a sports outfit is just so wrong. The mainstream American tourists have brought it to the world unfortunately. It started to happen in the 80s--people took them out of their context in such a non-artistic way. I am sure they do it for comfort for their aged feet but it just looks bad taste.
Surely there are other shoes that are just as comfortable?? If there isn't, someone should quickly make a good business plan for it. If you want to be cool or trendy or tasteful--runners are not it, IMHO.
The shoes just confirm the gentleman's healthy lifestyle which shows in his face and physique and so completes the look.
A couch potato could NOT pull off this outfit.
True true....with the sneakers he looks great but is casual and debonair!
Great blog!
But, then I looked at what he's holding in his hand and am questioning the healthy lifestyle bit. Although, he does pull off the farce very well.
Such a refeshing and classy break from the standard khaki or seersucker ensemble. The color is beautiful againts skin that has seen the sun but is not overly burnt. And the choice of footwear, well, lets just say that the kids don't have a monopoly on how "rock the sneaks"
If you have to wear sneakers keep them clean!! This gent does. That's why they are still stylish with the white trousers and shirt.
Personally, though, I don't like to wear plastic on my feet. Or anywhere else on my body, for that matter.
I loved this look so much that I ended up putting some items together from our store to help our customers get his look. And I linked them all to your blog in my post! We happen to have an orange sport coat in the store right now and I just hadn't thought of putting it together this way! Check it out!
i love this! it makes me want to be in italy with my family, but that's besides the point. i adore the color of his jacket! so great to see someone elderly still being very stylish! props to him!
thesevenoneseven.blogspot.com
Gonna have to agree with Star and Liz S on this one. As athletic shoes go, these aren't bad...at least they're clean and continue the white motif. But even for comfort, there are many, many better options than what he's got on. A white pair of Converse sneaks woulda gone well, I think. Athletic shoes need to stay in the gym where they belong...they don't flatter anybody.
Italy reppin'Orange
He reminds me so much of Bob Hawke in his younger days.
I'm sure he could spare that jacket. Give it to me. =)
< a href="http://www.javinlatimore.com/">
What IS it about Italian men? This should look ridiculous, but this man looks handsome, sophisticated and sexy! (OK, he's probably handsome, sophisticated, and sexy no matter what he wears. :>)
KMc
......this guy looks knockout, absolutely knockout. The sneakers wouldn't be my thing but they work fine, in fact better than fine, and are very comfortable for shlepping around
Were can a buy this sneakers?
carl
a moment of casual repose, not a "pose" makes it so relaxing and refreshing
And I thought Mario Batali had a trademark on this color orange.
Very relaxing and fresh look. Don't consider about details... he's just positive!
He makes cool look hot!
I wish more men would do this look...especially in america. one of my favorite parts of going to europe is seeing how men style their adidas. a good mix of casual-chic....this photo makes me think of kate moss in the 90's when she use to wear her adidas with dresses.
"Nobody does it better, makes me feel sad for the rest"
I really love the summer jacket not structured mainly the linen ones. This orange is sofantastic than this Sir made the excellent choice to wear only white shirt and pants with.
I like his shoes...cute...Adidas is a shoes for all times...^_^
For my taste cream low chucks with no socks (or a canvas Straight Tip Bal Oxford like they did wear in the 30ties on the tennis court with long whites) would have been more spiffy.
Fantastically put together.
Elegantissimo!
