On the Street....Back at Pitti, Florence

Alright!

I should be back on a more consistent posting schedule for the next several weeks, if not for the rest of the summer.

I am really inspired by some of the young guys that I'm meeting at Pitti. They seem to appreciate the elements of quality that great menswear can offer and yet approach and use these elements in a more modern and experimental way.

The dark shoes as a contrast to the light jacket, where most men would use the freedom to go with lighter leather on the shoes, is so good. Perfect twinge of subtle modernity

Blogger Bianca said ... (5:33 PM) :

the colors are so harmonious: the butter yellow jacket, light blue shirt, navy tie. you could actually see this color combo in someone's home. its warm and inviting. having the dark pants and shoes draws the eyes upward, so you are inclined to notice the face of the man and not necessarily the outfit first.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:55 PM) :

Yes, do love your blog and tell people about it all the time. Inspirational for all in the creative endeavors. Great style this Florence guy has. Maybe it is my conservatism in dress but the shoe laces seem to detract from the wonderful balance he has attained with all of the wonderful contrasts of coat to shirt to trousers. Beautiful shot.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:09 PM) :

The best part of this outfit is that ir makes you think "I am copying this inmediately!!! I love this look so much, I just can't express how much, I totally need to try it" then you realize you have all those elements in your wardrobe already, you just hadn't had the "brilliance" to do it... If we just spent more time looking at what we already own and trying new things we could all inspire each other a lot more.

Blogger green lantern said ... (10:59 PM) :

SART, Thank you very much. This is a sweet little ensemble here. I like linen and suede any day. This is indeed the updated "soft" look with un-construction. The slim fit pants substitute nicely for the old loose linen pant look. Love this, love this.

Blogger amy said ... (10:59 PM) :

I agree with the other commenters that the watch over the cuff is really unique.

Almost like a wrist belt. That tells the time...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:30 PM) :

Fantastic color jacket, and with the light blue shirt, wow! Cuffs on the shirt must be so perfectly fit to wear with the watch over it, and brown laces compliment his oh so cool afro. He could even add a little color to the socks to make the whole ensemble pop even more. Makes me happy.

Blogger Andrea Reh said ... (11:33 PM) :

I love the camel shoelaces - such a nice contrast, and ties in nicely with the buttons on the blazer.

Anonymous m.edwin said ... (12:20 AM) :

i'm a big fan of those brown suede wingtips with the contrasting laces, and the entire look really; except for the watch over the shirt. i know stylish guys have done this, but i can't seem to warm up to it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:28 AM) :

The watchband around the cuff is something I'll definatley try - It's certainly a strange touch, but an interesting one, and a small one which people will pick out and really think about. Sure the colours give you an overall impression, but the abovementioned two interesting details make someone think even harder about this man.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:36 AM) :

My favourite bit is the lighter laces, but I'd happily do without the beard..in fact now I look again it's not the beard that bothers me, it's the hair; I'd like to see it shorter or longer enough to be messy-looking. Is he wearing a wrist-support on his right wrist? There appear to be a couple of blue bands & that's all I can think they might be...

Anonymous Kristijonas said ... (12:58 AM) :

That is what I'm talking about here - a nice reboot to your blog. This is a fantastic outfit. I love the entire ensemble - the shoes, the coat, the colors. The dude just fits it. And the Agnelli-like watch wearing actually fits together well. Keep putting out stuff like this - this is what inspires me.

The shoes are in a nice contrast with the stone, even that matches!Perfect photo and perfect outfit. And I love his hair and beard. Because once again, I just love beards.:)

Anonymous Michael from Vienna said ... (3:16 AM) :

the watchband around the cuff thing is a cheap agnielli rip-off. that style is simply too iconic to be copied. that doesn't work on anybody else, sorry!

I love the contrasting laces on his shoes.

Blogger Juan Manuel Trejo Sánchez said ... (11:05 AM) :

Classical blue shirt, black pants enhanced; I would've never thought of using a light-beige (what color is it?) jacked and brown laces, very original.

And what's with Italians and the watch over the cuff thing?

Are you considering visiting Mexico sometime? You'd find interesting styles here too!

Blogger Keith said ... (11:36 AM) :

That is totally fantastic and inspiring.

Blogger davidikus said ... (12:23 PM) :

Thanks for the post.

Blogger Unknown said ... (2:33 PM) :

Sart has actually spent several posts on one of his fashion icons, Gianni Agnelli, in the early days of this blog. Look back through '08 and you should find them. The watch over the cuff is pure Agnelli.

Anonymous fashionsdirtylaundry said ... (2:56 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:31 AM) :

the watch over the cuff is actually a fairly common trend (if a little old fasioned) from italiant man. however, in general, this is used when the watch is too big to fit underneath the tailored cuff which is not the case here (since the watch is so flat). It therefore is a little too much, especially on the part of a young man, and shows that he is not a natural dresser. IE: I would drop the watch, the rest is fine.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:31 AM) :

Crazy-face Maradonna is running the watch over the cuff at the World Cup. In fact, dude's running one on each wrist.
