Real ancient Roman column, one of the dozen or so in front of San Lorenzo--Milan was the de facto capital of the western half of the empire in the 4th century A.D.--though from what milanese building (temple? basilica?) it came is unknown. Lots to discover in Milan, in addition to the great clothes and poise.

I often feel many of your subjects have an air of fashionable but — to my eye - unattractive aloofness. I suppose it comes with fashion sense.
While I hardly feel qualified to judge her ensemble (I will say that it's refreshing to see a young woman dressed as an adult), this woman seems to me a very happy exception to the rule that ennui must accompany style.
I particularly enjoy her smile, which seems neither deliberate nor frivolous, but very quietly confident.
I hardly think I will affect very much the lives of either, but, to subject and S., well done.

And while we are on the subject of posture...I am a Yoga instructor in the US who tried for YEARS to impart to students that, unless one has good posture, all other movement is futile, since good posture is the foundation on which all movement is based. Their response was less than enthusiastic; their only interest being in asanas that would "build strength"---all upper body work. All interest was in standing on their heads--they all had horrible posture but they all wanted to stand on their heads or hands. No amount of instruction would persuade them that good posture in day-to-day life and movement was the most essential and important of movements they could master--akin to breathwork. Thank you for bringing good posture to the attention of the world, and my blessings to the young lady in the photo.
