Comments on "On the Street.....The Focus on Shoes & Socks, Tokyo"
Love the first guys outfit, the shirt and shoes particularly.
Like the shoes on the kid in the top photo, but otherwise he looks like a throwback golf caddy.
I like the hat on the man in the lower photo. However, his shoes need shining. I really don't care where he visited (Florida, London??) and I hope that the rolled trouser trend dies except for snow and rain storms.
I lived in Japan many years ago, the focus for shoes and socks I think stems from a young age- the only area for individual expression, as all schools require a uniform.
I remember incredible socks available for purchase, nothing even close to what was available in north america.
the first guy is awesome. i especially like his pants!

Awesome, so playful. I love that even though the first guys outfit is totally mismatched that the shoes and shirt still go together. I like the clashing prints and fun socks. The second look is nice too, the pants look so comfy.

love the rolled cuffs on the sleeves and the cuffs on the pants on the second guy.
hm a little different than your usual pictures but definitely inspiring and refreshing.
thank you
The sock stores in Japan are the best! A lot of creative, cute, and fun options.

The shoes and socks thing is too clownish for me.
are those I <3 London sox? lol
so adorable!!!
A friend of mine once said that it's okay to have your outfit revolve around your socks. She's the most stylish person I've ever met.
very nice...

Wow! i love it! love tokyo!! great blog!
I'm so excited that you've finally decided to travel to Tokyo, Sart! When I first started reading your blog a few years ago - one of the first thoughts that came to mind was how great this kind of fashion documentation would be in Asia. I was excited to see Australia, but I'm definitely looking forward to the work that you'll do in Japan. All these men have such a unique approaches to fashion -- I especially love the "I <3 London" socks on the second man in this photo. Although it may be considered kitsch in places like Milan or Paris -- I feel like things like that work in Asian cultures... and they pull it off well.
The first shoes are too rounded and remind me of clown shoes.
Lovin' the rest of his outfit though!
I'm so excited for all these Tokyo photos! Inspiring already.

the tokyo posts are fresh and inspiring. love the first image particularly, understated but giving a strong statement (if that makes sense). nice
I love the cuffed pants in the second photo. Very casual- not trying too hard, but very cool.
The boy in the top picture has inspired me. He looks like Buster Keaton's side kick.
Elaine
i love these
Love the hats and the rolled up socks!
That face in the first photo in marvelous--continence and aesthetic. His clothes were really harmonious with his demeanor.
more tokyo shots please!
I like it. There is always that feline elegance that only Asian males can achieve.
it's been a while since i've been there, but when i look at your pics/the people - nothing has changed. enjoying your photos so much!
BIG FAN OF THE CHOICE IN HEAD WEAR IN BOTH PICZ, AND THEY BOTH SHARE A PASSION FORCLASSIC PAIR SHOEZ. THE REST IZ LEFT UP TO IMAGINATION AND INTERPETATION OF STYLE.
Japanese people are absolutely amazing in their sense of style. Their art culture, type of figure and dark hair allows 'em mix styles as far as their fantasy can be and it looks stunning.
They take european design or fashionand bring it up to perfection in each detail -that's what i think the Japanese fashion is.
Thanks for your pictures!!
I love how socks hype up the whole look! Am crazy over socks too :D

is that a security tag on those pants in the first picture?
these shots are way too common in Japan.
tokyo is blowing my mind
Very Comme.
I love these photos. By the way, in the first, is that a security tag on the guy's left pant leg?
Loving the first pair of shoes, and I know my husband would too. I'll add them to myShoebox app wishlist so I can remember the style for his next birthday!
this cat is *chillin*
i would rock this, nice
the ...guy...a few pics up with the pink is mad moist though, not a good look
Loving the 'I love London' socks with the rolled up trousers!
love japanese street style. great photos, an inspiration...
Great style(s). The emphasis on socks and short trousers remind me of Tintin!

Hey anonymous, I noticed the same thing...a security tag on the pants in the first photo.
Hmm, so did he steal the pants or was he just trying them on outside the shop to have a photograph taken so as to ask the opinion of an absent third party?
These photographs make me joyous. Love the rolled up pants, very eighties, and the shoes and use of accessories. Both of these young men are incredibly fashionable. Love it!
First guy's look is brilliant
The second one hit the spot: denim+cream+I love London+hat+attitude. Génial!
