Comments on "On the Street.....Mitte, Berlin"
She swings!
simple elgeant and chic!
She is a beauty! Her stance, socks, scarf and belt make the photo. The graffiti in the background is also interesting.
I have often read the main advantage of high heels is that they make your legs look longer, slimmer. What happens when you are wearing very uncomfortable heels, but then wear socks? Does it make your legs look short and stumpy, or is it just me? I would just take the socks off, and this would be a great outfit!
Wow. What a beautiful girl. There's not link to "Home" from your twitter posts. I know its a minor thing, but when I click on one of your twitter links to your pics, I usually wind up wanting to browse the rest of the blog posts.
Wow!
love that contrasting color of the scarf with that outfit! :)
goes well with the scenery too!

how beautiful! love the contrast between the wall paintings and the girly look.
Lovely!
I absolutely love this look - I am thrilled that "pretty" is everywhere these days! The scarf on the bag is a great touch but I'm not convinced that any pair of legs could get away with socks and pumps.
This how I want to dress as an adult. She's lovely.
Oh, so pretty, I love this outfit!! She kind of looks like a modern day, grown-up Dorothy (just back from Oz:)

Simple but nice...like it very much!!!!
adorable.
beautiful. gorgeous dress in a hideously urban environment- makes one hell of a picture.
a real breath of fresh air
lovely - a la Hanna Schygulla's little socks and heels
I am not a fan of the socks/shoe combo but she pulls this off perfectly! Love the Easter Sunday looking outfit with the grafitti in the background...Perfect Opposites!
Bravo on a fab photo find!
gorgeous girl!

What a striking contrast! Her scarf seems to mimmic the wall behinder her though. RAD!
So many interesting posts. And a sweet dress by the way =)

perfect for spirng. I love the whole look, the pump / sandal combo - which looks great here. I love her scarf too, perfect touch of color.

Wow! This look would normally make me cringe (the whole grown woman in little girls clothes thing). But she pulls it off. Maybe it's her hair, or the sophisticated bag and shoes? Fashion experts: what is it? I would pair this look with a different dress for myself...something more form-fitting. But this looks great on her.
Love the way the colours of her clothes are the same as those on the wall behind her!
Perfect!!!
Such a feminine look

I love the Dorothy socks & pumps! There's no place like home.
So fresh and pretty... just like Style Council :) glamalert.com/glambassador

really great (love the socks) but isn't it to cold for that outfit in berlin right now? :)
I love this photo, especially the background. She wears the girly combination very well. Socks in shoes/high heels can look very charming, actually. I would wear the socks a bit higher or choose a different type of texture (something like Garance did on one of the fantastic Paris-pictures last month). But it works for her!
Scarf on bag is also amazing, lovely. It's a real trend I think, I immediately remember the lovely lady in hijab whom you shot in Melbourne...
I dont usually like the socks/pumps combo, but it looks lovely with her outfit, I ABSOLUTELY ADORE the dress and red lipstick, somehow she looks very whimsical in such a simple dress!
Composition señor Schuman!!!! You're becoming a master at this thing Scott, congratulations, this picture should go on the second installment of the book...
i like the socks with this look. love the colors and the sweet smile. a real beauty.
So cute! I love the scarf!!! http://loveablescamps.blogspot.com/
Great shot! I am also not very fond of the socks trend but she does it very well. I love the dress!
I like the touch of color in lips and scarf! And love the shoes!
Love the contrast! This outfit makes me think of spring.
Any tips for pulling off heels and socks? It sure looks great here!
Jolie mais poilue non ?
What a beautiful picture! Love he red lipstick with the light blue dress!! So cute name too!
http://miamarionette.blogspot.com/
No doubt without the socks her legs would look longer and slimmer, but with the socks she looks so much more interesting, and she hardly needs to take advantage of every available beauty trick.
The background is stupendous. I want that wall!
To address Christy's comment regarding why this works on a lady of this age, I would say it is not merely a slightly mature aesthetic to the look, it is her look, meaning her gaze! look at those eyes... The dress may say Lolita, but the eyes tell a different story.
And red lipstick on a beautiful pout doesn't hurt either.
love, love, love the socks and the scarf on her bag!
That's adorable. She looks like a hip Dorothy Gale. I tie scarves on my purses like that all the time - glad to see someone else doing it. It's a very nice way to add a little color.
I love the picture, set against the graffiti on the wall behind, with the bubble letters. Not sure about the outfit, seems vintage to me. I like the touches of black throughout though.
This is why Berlin is so interesting. It combines elements from fashion and history and freestyles it into something that is engaging, naive and always experimental.
heels and socks confuses me--don't you have to get your shoes in a slightly bigger size to make that comfortable? Or is comfort not an issue? :)
Another Alice in Wonderland influence!
What a great shot! Luv the combo of the scarf and the graffiti in the background... Not to mention the subject!!You wouldn't by any chance know the name of this beautiful young lady? Is it Aline (or Misi)... beacuse if it is, she's an old childhood friend... would luv to know!
Thanks!!
xo
she is captivating!
i love natata!
love the graffiti behind her, it's such an unusual background.

i wish i could pull off the socks with heels look!
Yeahhh..BAMBUS in the background!Thumbz up!!!!
I'm really in love with her.
<3
Very cute, almost juvenile. I think it's the socks that make it so.
PS~ I love to see the graff in the back! It always makes for the best background! You can almost tell what city you are in by the writing on the walls.
Love this look! So retro and so cute!

She's stunningly pretty. There's something needed in her way of dress to equal her great looks.
adorable outfit!! love the socks with the pumps too...
very pretty

Very young and refreshing take on the spring dress. A playful look with the scarf.
Spring has sprung.
How beautifully delightful.
Blair Alarm!
Oh the fun twirling you could do in that dress! Magnific'!
xx Love & Aloha
p.s. Will you ever be visiting Hawaii Mr. Schuman? Oh how great it would be to meet you!
cute girl !
http://bulbizar.blogspot.com/
A great look! She used the first summerly day in the best way.
But it's completly non-Berlin. Way to chic. I would like to see more of that here!
Very nice. Perfect for the summer.
I'm blown away!
www.thebeautylover.blogspot.com
I absolutely love the graffiti in the background! You can't go wrong with contrasting dirty city scenery with a beautiful girl... in my opinion!
I think socks and heels are a great ressurection from past fashion, particularly the 1950s. Visible socks with dainty shoes is also a style associated with childrenswear and youth; so I think worn correctly, they can look so chic.
I love how the flecks of blue in the scarf are brought out by the colour of her dress and socks and hairtie on her wrist. Attention to nuances is true style I think.

My heart is beating out of my chest.
she is looking so gorgeous
I'm not really keen on socks trend.
But this look is perfect!
And the shot is wonderful.
Your real-street photos are always my favourite.
Simply adorable!
All so pretty in detail, collar, waistband, scarf. But the sloppy hair just spoils it all.
great look. love the scarf tied on the bag.
she is rocking the socks and the shoes.. (:
http://primarktoprada.blogspot.com/2010/02/sartorialist-skirts.html
I love the way she looks! Moreover, that obviously it is a sample of how to use trends / look up-to date and be chic without having outfits for zylion Euro...
Kawaii!!
Actually, the outfit with socks is not confusing at all. Many of you are missing the details here. I see the outfit as a sort of dressing for the artist, ready to be captured, hence the photograoh being posted here, hence having caught the eye of the photographer.
lovely :)
Nice girl. Sweet, lovely.
But the socks are a pain in my eyes.
She looks like a chic and moderns Alice (in wonderland).
i like it.
The little socks with her heels, as well as the scarf draped from her bag, is what makes this so sweet. I want to have tea with her!

love this dress!! so beautiful and feminine!
This look is amazingly cute and flattering, yet is still lady-like!!! LOVE IT!
Beautiful picture
Aah! [thinking: I want those SOCKS!]
so so good
There is a sense of excitement in this photo:
Graffiti created by males.
Beautiful young woman standing in front of their work.
It's almost like a 2 hour movie seeminly frozen in time.
Very nice.
She is beautiful. Both she and her outfit remind me of Christina Amphlett of the Divinyls. The little girl gone punk look. Her look is extreme "80's feminine punk" but like Snowflake, she reins it back in with the lovely hair and makeup. I love it!
The Divinyls~
Its a fine line between pleasure and pain
Youve done it once you can do it again
Whatever you done dont try to explain
Its a fine, fine line between pleasure and pain
She's cute!

I'm a little disconserted by the socks, but I don't mean in a conservative way! I think the whimsical feeling can be projected without heels-with-socks and those too-often-repeated inward-pointing toes.. She's very lovely and the dress is adorable. It reminds me of Scott's writing in the book of how he often/sometimes(?) doesn't like everything about the subject's look, but certain elements of it are striking.
I love this kind of dress.
Lilou
Anybody else think she looks like Donna from That 70's Show?
I adore the socks, and the scarf on the bag is a lovely touch!
looking very pretty!!!!
BEATMAKER
she is the definition of adorable. i love the tiny details; striped socks, polka dot dress.
CLINT 167 !!!!
simplicity is often best..and she looks very elegant. and slightly awkward, leg akimbo...
