She still looks amazing!
fridayswithcilantro.blogspot.com
still hip as ever
Its like 2 completely different people! It shows how much ones personal style can change within a year!
I much prefer look 2! Her hair that biker jacket! IMMENSE!
yours Truly
WE SPY WITH MY LITTLE i
love both looks!
http://pieinmypants.blogspot.com/
so beautiful!nice weekend
She's gorgeous!
Carmen.xx.
a good little sartorialist reader i see
is that your book she's holding?
she looks great but i like the then better than the now
thank you. :)
Wow, the pictures are different, but I like both.
Love the leader jacket.
xx

prefer the look a year ago. More intriguing
Wow, she's changed a lot! She's gone from Gareth Pugh-ish to Jil Sander-esque...
tweet tweet tweet

her style is still really cool but the new hair cut definately adds an edge (i love it) and shows off those blue eyes!
through her timeline she is still looking great
http://marlenelillianna.blogspot.com/
Her look has softened... still amazing!
A cool chameleon, but least the crossed arms offers a bit of continuity.
P.S. I heart this blog!
it reminds me of the sandy transition in grease, but opposite.
I like the jacket so much!
Beautiful eyes. I prefer the second style.
At one point I must say she used to look better....The hair's better...
http://sugarspiceandstuds.blogspot.com
Great leather jacket. I love the unnecessary zips.
http://henrineuendorf.com
I love that she's grasping your book. And she is amazing. He pose remains!!
pretty badass looking jacket "then" i like it
http://www.kylecuviello.com
So chic! xx
I have your book too!!!!!!!!!
Love it!
Hmm..first softer hair, harder jacket, then tough hair with softer jacket - but the same stance in both. I think I like earlier look better but it's great to try new things!
Its like looking at two different people. She is definetly amazing in any look. But she has certaintly got to return to her previous one.
Love her huge eyes and her leather jacket.
I remember this older photo! I like her hair better wavy but her outfit in the first is a lot more my taste. She's gorgeous.
http://ganymedekids.blogspot.com
Nice, I love her white shirt collar. Apart from this I prefer her previous look, but she still looks good anyway. She likes crossing her arms !
Love the straight cut! x

Looked good then, even better now.
Both looks are great. I think she looks happier in the first and newer photograph.
I think she looks awsome now! Very chic ;D
xx
Dimogonda blog
Both photos are engaging- she got the attitude!
It may just be me... but she looks like she's fallen in love since you last saw her :)
Great looks, great jacket!

I can't get over the difference in her personality from one to the other. Looks like an older sister in the first, as if she has grown up. As to the style, great in both.
I love the fact that she looks so different, yet so the same. I mean you can still tell its her style and her, but she has changed all the same as well.
I agree with dana. I probably like the style better in the second/older photo, but her eyes look so much happier in the first/newer photo and that completely changes everything. Happiness is far more attractive than a beautiful dress.
Her "then" photo was definitely sexy with attitude. Her "now" photo is so refreshing. There's so much clarity in her new style it's almost preppy. It's just much cleaner. I hope she alternates. I think people should always change themselves; it surprises people.
she is beautiful! I love the "then" look, but it's interesting how her facial expressions change!
Now is cool, but then is truly gorgeous.
awesome pics!
wow i remember the first photo, both are fantastic but i like the curly hair hair in the second one better, love the juxtaposition though!
fondly,
the improper collective

Her eyes look so seriously bored in the first image and so doefully awake in the second. It's great that her style between the two shots can't be compartmentalized. She's very striking!!!
same mannerisms, same girl - but worlds different simply because of her haircut. how interesting that sometimes that's all it takes....
i love this post.
worldrunway.blogspot.com
Wow! Totally different look! I'm partial to a trench...Burberry?
So cool ;) now she looks woken up!
Relating to her sense of expression... her presence (and may I add, my opinion is that in the current photo - her simple ensemble does not diminish her individuality or appeal). x
well.. the earlier girl looks soft ..cute.. childlike.. theres a kind of sensibility which is seen in the 'now' pic....certainly there is a morphe....
My goodness, that's more than a style change, it's an attitude change -- there is a real smile on that face which makes whatever she's wearing look great.
She has moved from ingenue wanna be to writer and director of her own life..Bravo
Rock vs post-rock.
her look is fresher, younger and edgier ... does she have your book under her arm ?
She looks more polished now. And she is carrying THE book!
like two different decades! at least :)
did you shoot her twice by chance?
Such photos are always interesting to look at, I think the now version of her is softer, kinder...
It truly is ALL in the attitude. The sparkle in her eye, in the first photo is so subtly charming. The blue gleaning of her eyes, with her facial roundness, effortlessly pouted lips, chopped hair and that buttoned collar, she strikes me with a welcoming youthful charm; this integral feeling to what ever and where ever she's going with her day... and to wonder... what she's reading...
And in the progression, well we may not be so quick to answer... but I wonder if she broke into laughter after she was photographed.
lovely pictures!
www.whatdialike.com
prefer look1
Love how her hair has gotten edgier while the coat is not as hard as the biker jacket. Plus the continuation of the 'popped' collar.
- Sophia.
The change is not bad, but I prefer the then.
Love
S
LOVE her style now. So clean, simple and preppy.
Looks fresher and younger, but she's a peach anyway, and she'll always be gorgeous.
i love these posts! to see the passing of time through style and person.
She looks like January Jones now, love your pictures, hold on!
amazing jacket
I love her new hairstyle!!! :D

Looks more confident now.
Love both of the looks!

I prefer her second look, because it looks more confident and very cool.. what did she do with her hair? It looks so different? Like she had her hair permed.
http://art-and-snow.blogspot.com
Her cute new hairstyle is Vika inspired perhaps? I like her old look alot too, looking at them together its like two sisters, the studious one and the party girl!
I love these outfits!
http://www.outfitproject.com
Would love it if you did more of these "year apart" pieces - with folks of many different ages/periods in their life: pre-divorce; post-divorce...
In the older shot, she looks like she hasn't quite grasped the chalice, or set her compass; in the second, she is grounded, clear-eyed, and ready for biz.
Amusing and entertaining because I'd bet you're getting viscerally polar takes on this pair.
i remenber her !
she is still very cute.
http://bulbizar.blogspot.com/
Looks like this lady has learned a lot in a year.
She looks happy now.
http://izzenxoxo.blogspot.com/
I think I like the "old" hairstyle better but she still looks very very good.
http://davidikus.blogspot.com/
gained some polish, lost some edge. not an advantageous trade, IMO
The short hair in the first pic looks so unflattering on her! The 2nd one is much better. Love the jackets she's wearing though!
love -
no seriously love!
this is so cute. i loove her new hair!!
Much rather the bottom look, including the hair.
www.stitchesfabricandsoul.com
how lovely the light hits the edges of the collar on the furst picture...
This is what I'm talking about. Why do these people purposely try to make themselves out to be uglier than they are? It makes no sense. Here is an article I wrote about the subject on my site www.stepsofthemet.com
The article is titled "the dilemma" Here is the link:
http://www.stepsofthemet.com/2010/03/dilemma.html
LOOK 2 is flawless. See how much can chnage in one year?
she looks more content now
ah-mazing!!!
http://laurenlanzaosias.blogspot.com
be a follower, not a hater
Such a stunning young woman, but I'm surprised so many people prefer the earlier look instead of the later, more sophisticated look. I see no "edge" in the earlier look: it's a bit too predictable. She's getting smarter with her choices. Good for her!
She looks great in both photos but a little sad in the second one. I hope it has been a good year for her.
beauty remains the same
love her hair right now!
She looks so much better now.
Now wins hands down!
:-)
The second look is more complimentary, though you can see in her eyes that she is happier now. I love that.
She's adorable in both photos but somehow I like the recent one more. She appears far more self assured now with the way she looks, clear eyed and amused, straight down the lens of the camera rather than peaking out in an almost bored way from behind her hair as she did a year ago. This young woman looks ready for any adventure, a willing, engaged, joyful participant in life.
The girl in the leather jacket is so beautiful
Now less to prove and more to do...the tough girl wants to be taken seriously. She still has the edge with the "popped" collar, crossed arms and even moreso with the straight glance now.
shes like Alanis Morissette.from rock-chic to pretty school girl.
http://istanbulfashionaddict.blogspot.com/
I lke her in both pictures but the hair really compliments her in the "now" one... It gives her face such a geometrical character that makes her beautiful face stand out... imagine the first pic with the new hair and you'll see what i mean. BTW she's holding the book!! :D
BEAUTIFUL !!!
What a gorgeous woman. What a wonderful, observant photographer you are. These photos and looks are almost timeless. I am in love.

if I was not looking at her expression in each then I would probably prefer her older look... but for me the newer photograph looks so much more appealing because of her head-on gaze into the camera. it's as if the photographs are of two twins with completely opposite styles!
both looks are so classically cool but her now look shows that she has matured in her style this year. Love how shes holding her arms the same way in both pictures
I like the way she has strong style. And I also think both her looks go with her personality kinda- she is quite shy.
Very strong, typical Russian features. Outstanding!
I love these Sartorialist "before and after" photos!
She looks just as incredible in each one though.
lovely how she's progressed but i can see retention of elements. that's what personal evolution is all abt.
did u shoot her in a similar pose intentionally though?
