Can I Take A Picture? - Italian Vogue Pelle

How did this cellphone picture end up as story in Italian Vogue Pelle?

Giovanna Battaglia (Fashion Director of Vogue Pelle and Sartorialist Super-All-Star) took this shot of Garance with her cellphone, while Garance was shooting her, and I was in the background shooting both of them....is that clear?

Anyway, a couple of weeks later Giovanna showed me the picture on her cellphone and asked me to do a full story for Vogue Pelle, based on the idea of the "cool, blogger girl".

Giovanna loved the idea of the photographer/blogger being more stylishly dressed than the subjects of the photo....which sometimes is the case!

Here are a few images from that story.

The shoot was lots of fun but instead of talking about it you can take a look at the "making of" video below.

Blogger Elizabeth said ... (9:55 PM) :

I know it had to be a "real" model and "real" RTW but I wish you could have just shot the fabulous Garance who always looks fresher and funner than a whole runway full of models, and her clothes choices really snap.

Blogger Brigadeiro said ... (9:55 PM) :

What a fabulous idea for an editorial! And it turned out beautifully! Giovanna is a genius! :)

Brilliantly meta editorial, and Garance looks fab as always. But can I suggest "bloggers chasing to report online, the catwalk people in real time" instead?

wow, that girl in the 'real' editorial photos is marija vujovic, a top model from montenegro, a small country in south east europe. she is one of the most beatufil and photogenic girls in the fashion scene. compliments for the choice and cheers, marija

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:06 AM) :

I remember the photographs! I always love Battaglia's work. But I have to admit that this is probably my favorite concept of hers! It is very cool.

Could you please tell us which song you guys have used for the video?

Thank you in advance!

Blogger Ms. Bunbury said ... (7:20 AM) :

Lovely pic the one with the mobile. It is so perfect! Could be the present transposition of the "picture into the picture" typical of some Dutch painters, like Van Dyck or something similar. And the shots on Vogue are a fantastic idea! You're the best fashion blog reporters!

Blogger Edna Gee said ... (7:28 AM) :

I am most fascinated with the cellphone photo. Reminds of Mithcell's picture theory. A picture of a picture of a picture. Oh and Garance has great legs.

Love this little turning of the tables -- especially the cameo by Garance in the next to last photo. In addition to glowing from the inside, she has just the right expression of nonchalance.

I wish we all could enjoy our work so much.

You are Garance are become quite the powerhouse couple in the fashion universe. Certainly you both make up one of the biggest influences in fashion today, and yet you (both) remain so accesible through your blogs and work. I feel like if I saw you in the street, I could say hello. It's refreshing. Thanks for not becoming notoriously aloof, snobby, or downright rude. It makes me enjoy your work even more.
