Blogger Hatchet said ... (1:34 PM) :

I love this look. The devil is in the details, too, like every other button on the vest being undone. I'm mad about little personal style rules like that.

Blogger MOD PAUL said ... (1:57 PM) :

Oi, is the Kitchen Sink in that jacket pocket as well? But really I kind of like it..

Blogger Eric said ... (2:01 PM) :

I remember seeing this gentleman in other pictures you've taken. I appreciate what he is trying to do and I'll commend his attempt at mixing patterns and colors. However, I get the feeling that he is trying WAY too hard. The size of the shirt collar overwhelms the tie and the lapel of the jacket. Ditto for the tie bar that is much too long for the tie. Lastly, there is just WAY too much in his sportcoat's pocket: glasses, 'kerchief, AND leather gloves??? This is Milanese overkill.

Blogger The Shitty Astrologer said ... (2:07 PM) :

What would you call this look...funky yuppie?

Anonymous Malia said ... (2:09 PM) :

Not everyone can pull this off, but he looks great! I love the color and texture of his look.

I LOOOOVE pocket watches and you don't see them too often anymore. The glove in the lapel is an interesting touch.

Visually stimulating indeed!!! I say it is ALWAYS better to be different and interesting, then boring and blah.

Blogger laughtrack said ... (2:26 PM) :

Not to be the naysayer but... He looks like every neu-fashion statement thrown in a bowl and tossed. All the ingredients are delicious, but the dish is overwrought.

Amazing!

Blogger Kathleen said ... (5:39 PM) :

Oh, I just love him. What a great combination of everything. Great outfit, great accessories, fantastic eyewear, and an absolutely fabulous smile. The tie goes well with the silk in his pocket. Love the casual, everyday attitude of the gloves in the breast pocket. He owns his style.

Blogger Lemon for breakfast said ... (5:53 PM) :

love the strange thing (don't really know how to call it!) he has in his pocket!! :)

Blogger Merlino said ... (5:56 PM) :

Gigantic overkill. Far too much details going on: gold coloured jacket buttons, gold coloured tie bar, gold coloured pocketwatch chain, hankie/glasses/glove, tie and hankey match very poorly, and worst of all the fact that he's sporting a pocket- AND a wristwatch.

He does have a great smile, though.

Anonymous Dappered said ... (5:58 PM) :

That man has a TON going on. And it all works. Wild. Good for him.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:04 PM) :

I love how the composition of his pocket square, glove and additional pair of glasses resembles a flower.

Blogger Unknown said ... (6:18 PM) :

just a little too much going on for me, i mean it really looks like he tried really hard to pull this off!

Anonymous alibaba germany said ... (6:28 PM) :

AMAZING! but too much stuff in his chest pocket... just the awesome handkerchief would have been enough!

Blogger Unknown said ... (6:38 PM) :

Wow, so over the top and bombastic.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:43 PM) :

Chain, checks, chapeau...chic! :)

Blogger My So Called Life said ... (6:48 PM) :

This picture and his style are great!
I absolutley love this outfit, it almost looks like he is trying to dress vintage with the chain vest, and cap, but yet he brings it up to date with the blazer, color palete and the big glasses. Some things like caps just never go out of style and you can't stop loving them!!

www.emidoodlesfashion.blogspot.com

Blogger Anna said ... (6:51 PM) :

clearly the presence of the pocket watch and wristwatch means that he carefully planned this out... I'd stick with just the pocket watch. very nice and groomed!

http://www.stylaholic.com/Stylaholic/Blog/Blog.html

Anonymous Joel said ... (6:53 PM) :

this is impeccable. love that only every other button on the vest is buttoned and the ensemble is the perfect blend of warm (browns) and cool (navies) colors.

Blogger Adrienne said ... (6:55 PM) :

I love how you show the beauty in the peculiar... I am of that same beauty... thanks for helping me realize it through your pictures of real people.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:05 PM) :

It's been said, but who needs a pocket watch and a wristwatch? It's the first sign something's wrong. I agree he's seeming to pull it off, because the background of colors and patterns work, but the more you look, the more you begin to ask yourself where could he be possibly going dressed like that--and then it hits you, oh, he's out to be seen. It's hard to take a man seriously who seems to need so much attention. In the end, at least it's endearing. He's young and learning to dress himself; it's like watching a child with fingerpaints.

Anonymous Bach said ... (7:34 PM) :

I love the combination of navy and deep purple in the tie. And the Tom Fords look great on him! This sure is a lot of accessories but he makes it work!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:34 PM) :

Well he almost pulls it off but the look is just a little too busy for me. Rather affected. Chain, watch, tie clip, gloves, hankie, another pair of glasses in his pocket, vest, cap.... Slow down fella.

Anonymous SartorialStudent said ... (7:40 PM) :

Brilliant combination of colour and accessories, really enjoy the various items stuffed in the jacket pocket.

Blogger Unknown said ... (8:40 PM) :

Tie bar, pocket watch chain, watch, hanky, gloves, glasses, hat,....geez. It's too bad he didn't accessorize.

Blogger Ame in DC said ... (8:42 PM) :

terrific all the way around.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:45 PM) :

Keino Benjamin ( Dapper Dan)...

Blogger Jazzbuff630 said ... (9:03 PM) :

Overflow is correct. Turn it down a little. Less is more.

Anonymous Pickles & Coffee said ... (9:13 PM) :

gloves in the front pocket, with the pocket square, cool... i like the blazer, vest, hat ,shirt and glasses..

however, the chain, high tie clip, and jeans, nahhhhhh

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:21 PM) :

The title of this photo is hilarious and soooo apt!

Blogger profquackenbush said ... (10:21 PM) :

The individual elements are nice, especially the tie, but they are thrown together so haphazardly, that they don't work. A classic case of overkill. Two pairs of glasses, two watches, the overstuffed breast pocket . . . This guy is trying way too hard. But at least he's trying.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:33 PM) :

This is exactly the look I strive to achieve. Just amazing.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:33 PM) :

Great spirit. I think the saying about picking only one statement piece applies here. One watch is enough! I love the corduroy vest.

Cheers - Lyle

Blogger Joy Mars said ... (11:39 PM) :

Mr. Personality!

The purple tie really makes the whole ensemble. The hot tomato red in the pocket square is the perfect counterpoint.

Blogger romaine said ... (12:11 AM) :

so engaging! and dare i say, so cute?!

Blogger stephanie_press said ... (12:48 AM) :

He looks so fresh and happy. Wonderful look.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:52 AM) :

His pocket looks like a flower with the pocket square becoming the cente of the flower, the glove making the petals and the glasses arm as the stem. Is this on purpose or just a serendipitous accident?

Blogger FASHION SNAG said ... (12:57 AM) :

Everything about this photo and outfit is fabulous. I love his smile and he makes me smile! xo

www.FashionSnag.com

Blogger C.M.M. said ... (12:57 AM) :

He looks like he just walked through the looking glass! A little overkill, but his smile makes up for it.

Also, he needs to lint roll his jacket.

Anonymous Sophie said ... (1:01 AM) :

Perhaps he has all those things stuffed in his pockets because he needed a place to keep them? I think using a pocket as a pocket and not just sticking to the job that has been given to it by "fashion" is charming!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:05 AM) :

Nope

Blogger Unknown said ... (1:07 AM) :

Too much. This is not style, not one to be imitated, anyway. Keeping it simple and still looking great is style.

Blogger MalinSaga said ... (1:45 AM) :

No

Blogger Lou said ... (1:52 AM) :

It may be a bit hectic, but he is a very energetic, playful guy. I think his motto is "let me entertain you". I say: bingo!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:45 AM) :

I have to say he looks pretty good but maybe a little too much going on for me. The accessorizing is making me dizzy!

Blogger Nishita said ... (2:52 AM) :

Love the hat and the smile! Very cool 30's look...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:10 AM) :

Sorry but this guy is so try hard and the shirt tie combo is horrible I commend his attempt but really look at the collar and tie it just doesnt work

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:20 AM) :

The whacked-out improvised pocket "flower" says it all--he's having a LOT of fun with his look. And his smile says that he wants to spread the happy around. Love!

Anonymous SweetPea said ... (5:09 AM) :

I want one!

Anonymous Watchface said ... (5:22 AM) :

It just screams confidence... and he wears confidence well... absoluteley adore the Tom Ford "Carry" frames.

Blogger camone said ... (5:52 AM) :

Love the smile, great watch!

Blogger Márcia Shintate said ... (8:11 AM) :

He is the guy! He is prepared for any situation, a show man. If it is getting hot, he can take off his blazer, be more casual or if it's get cold, he close his bottons and be a kind of serious not so serious. Maybe he is an actor or something. Surely, he is an artist.

Blogger ioba said ... (8:47 AM) :

Too much of everything!

www.ioba.eu

Blogger Alice Olive said ... (8:59 AM) :

I love that he is all about the accessories. Plus so many textures/patterns and it all looks good!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:18 AM) :

I unfortunately think this is trying too hard and not really pushing the preppy envelope. I personally think the whole pocket situation is too much and is overwhelming the look. The trend of the nerd glasses is slowly on its way out and its going to be something we look back on in 10 years and ask what we were thinking? A little less detail on this and I think it could work, but the entire look is on the way out.

Anonymous Fernando said ... (10:24 AM) :

Love this image.
This is a great example of how to take the dandy gentleman look into the new decade.

Anonymous Giovanella said ... (10:39 AM) :

this man screams personal style!! love the whole ensemble..and that chain is the cherry on the cake!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:57 AM) :

He looks good, no doubt. Very nice to see a young man with some flavor. That said, there's just too much happening - watch chain, pocket square, gloves, glasses, textures, pattern, shrunken fit, cap, big glasses, crazy collar, large watch... maybe pick three and get some kind of leather messenger bag.

Blogger THICK AS THIEVES said ... (11:22 AM) :

He looks striking, but's all a bit overdone and not natural in any way. Looks more like a stylized getup for an editorial photo shoot rather than a real life outfit. He needs to learn how to edit and not wear everything he thinks is cool in one outting.

Blogger Christina said ... (11:47 AM) :

Ok, so sometimes less really is more, but not with this guy. All of his accessorizing paid off. He looks fab, and happy.

Anonymous Meadow said ... (12:18 PM) :

I think "the overflow" is kind of the point here...in a similar way that Patricia Field might go OVER the top with her accessories (um, that witch hat, anyone?).

There's a touch of humor in stuffing everything in the pocket...he's "winking" at us.

Blogger So Obsessed said ... (3:39 PM) :

He's dashing!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:48 PM) :

This is what trying too hard looks like.

The tie bar AND the chain AND the glasses (on his face and in his breast pocket) AND the gloves AND the handkerchief?

Sir, you have certainly made your point. You have a wide array of accessories.

Blogger Unknown said ... (5:53 PM) :

A gentleman with a great sense of style - why can't there be more like that???

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:15 PM) :

If only he had more pockets. He's having fun, but not clear why one needs two pairs of glasses or two watches.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:32 PM) :

I LOVE his glasses--who makes them?

Anonymous un said ... (8:06 PM) :

this guy is screaming "LOOOOK AT ME"!
trying to hard

Blogger Anna said ... (10:22 PM) :

He is all about accessories, but i think that his smile is the best accessory of all.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:40 PM) :

It looks like he spent some money on his clothes but didn't pay as much attention to how they fit. Sharp but messy.

Blogger Brenda S said ... (1:19 AM) :

Love the accent of purple.
And the shirt, my friend wore one exactly like that today.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:29 AM) :

i like the style...but it seems forced. i feel that he is trying way too hard.

Anonymous boB q said ... (6:05 AM) :

Definitely no! I like the gloves in the pocket anyway. One detail. I said one, sir, next time you'll have to chose.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:15 AM) :

He's workin' it! He's on the Great Style Search of life. Love it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:20 AM) :

I'm glad somebody else noticed his "buttonaire" pocket flower. VERY fashion forward. Not only did you not think of it, people, most of you COULDN'T EVEN SEE IT to appreciate his thought!

Blogger Kwame Panther said ... (9:32 AM) :

lovely execution www.itshisyachtclub.blogspot.com

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:06 AM) :

Nice idea but too much. The shirt colour os too splayed, the watch chain is ott and he could lose the tie clip. A bit of visual overload really...

Blogger Ameesha Lee said ... (10:58 AM) :

Amazing style, love everything about him.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:11 AM) :

I disagree with the "trying too hard" train of thought. I find black men seem to have fun with fashion and are able to be peacocks, at times playing with over-the-top with such verve that they just pull it off.

Lovely pic. Cute guy!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:16 AM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:24 AM) :

Sorry, he's simply trying too hard. What's with the bling bling and the overstuffed suit pocket?

Overkill!

Anonymous Sidney said ... (7:37 PM) :

Hence the old addage, "before you leave the house, look at yourself in the mirror and take one thing off". The gloves and pocket square and two pairs of glasses glasses and bracelet and chain and hat lead not to overflow, but overkill... This guy must have started getting dressed at 8 in the morning and not left the house until noon.

Blogger Unknown said ... (9:37 PM) :

Absolute groover.
10 points for pulling it off, even though he could pull it back a bit. LOVE IT.

Anonymous JoyMarie said ... (1:11 AM) :

I can tell he's really having fun with getting dressed in the morning which is important. Fashion is fun! He could probably lose a few accessories for my taste but the one he could not do without are the Tom Ford glasses. Can't go wrong with those!

Anonymous Elevated said ... (6:02 PM) :
