Comments on "On the Street....The Artist Lunch, Paris"
Would love to be doing the same! Adorable photo :)
I'd love to be joining her!
Love.
Incredible combination of color and style. The mismatched socks and the hat do it for me!
Too much going on from a sartorial perspective, but the typical Parisian café furniture makes this pic a French classic. The modern Robert Doisneau?
love the messy chic
I love her ensemble. It's bursting with color.
love the leather shoes and the bright blazer, wish i was her squeezing myself in at that little wonderful table
I like how real this picture seems.
+ the hat is AMAZINGLY ELEGANT!
Precious!
Killer outfit
love the colors! and the socks look awesome!
Beautifully nonchalant.
I love this! Whenever I go to Paris I always try to dress like Oscar Wilde. I mean, you're in Paris, right? And the mismatched socks are a great accent.
I love this photo! She looks great in that red blazer and I love the scarf. xo

Wonderful use of clashing patterns. Love the odd socks.
Wow - the colors!

She's so bohemian, love it.
Why do salads seem to look so much more delectable in French cafes?
http://www.invasionista.com
WOW! i'm really in love with an outfit...
She is so adorable. Great style.
Ah the French, they know so much about the art of chic. Love this shot!
I wish I could favorite this.
She's so bohemian, love it.
I love this too. Everything about it. Especially her scarf and the way her hat is perched on her head so insouciantly.
How can this colour-blind mix of colors & the ethnic element (the scarf) & the feet with independent thought and taste not result naif? She get it. She's valiant.
Now,where should I start?
She is...she is...AMAZING!!!
Ah, Paris...Paris. The magic is in the air.
Lots of love,
fashion abuse
Odd socks - Amazing! We love - Breath of fresh air!
www.wespywithmylittlei.blogspot.com
i'd prefere a change on the socks and shoes
Only in Paris...can a look like this be appreciated, be accommodated, be understood. That's the beauty, the seduction of Paris.
Love the title 'Artist Lunch'. what great style.
http://sippli.blogspot.com/
All she needs is a glass of absinthe to go with that carafe and all those colors!
me encanta la foto
http://elblogdepuu.blogspot.com/
Been a lurker for long, this photo forces me to leave a comment - wow!
The men of paris are not that Sartorial, but this woman is trying to show the men how to dress well.
Wow, she is amazing, her style is fantastic and the photo exquisite. Exactly what I imagine Paris to be like!! xoxo
Cool photo .
Lovely!!Today I had an incredible discovery!!
www.monavestidadeseda.blogspot.com
So cute.
Sorry...it just looks like she's trying WAY too hard!
This is perfection! I'd love to switch with her. Beautiful.
She is adorable! All those crazy patterns with her crazy hair looks amazing-especially with that hat perched atop it all.
Hatter!:)
great set.

WOW! Everything is so good on this photo! The scene is luminous and elegant. She's gorgeous and stylish. It's amazing how it all fits together. What a pretty sight! Congratulations on this one. The best ever :D
beautiful, whimsical! the lace-less wing tipped shoes are perfect.
really love her look! and yes, i want to be doing the same thing right now!
xo

Such a richly personal look, especially the worn, weathered leather shoes and messenger bag; she's clearly been loving them a while and they've got patina. The navy fedora is a unique topper, and that scarf! Also dig the mismatched-color but coordinating-patterned argyle socks.
It's like she took the classics and tilted them sideways. Neat.
I really adore this outfit, it's one of the best I've seen in a while! I'm going to Paris next week and this picture has made me all excited!
ab fab!!!
Ah la la! Tout simplement... magnifique.
She is soo adorable!
Everything about this is just so right. She put all the colors together so well and carries them off even better. Love it!
Lovely picture... Al around!
Gosh, it must be easy to find subjects to shoot in Paris. And anyway they look like the ones who WANT their photos taken.
The colors of this picture make me happy! I love her messy hair and all the rest!
http://spottedbym.blogspot.com/
i want to tag along....
I love her.
she's trying too hard
The shoes and the bag seems not to fit in really, everything else is bright and newish looking, really funky and stylish. The shoes and bag just too much of a mess for me. BYT the salad is very well dressed!
Uma graça de look, puro charme!
Bjs
She is a master! I <3
she rocks! I don't know how she could manage to mix all those patterns and colours and still look stylish!
Is that Tracy Emmin (sorry not sure of spelling!)? If it is, she's English not French but she is an artist. And she looks great.
amazing photo ,amazing girl!
delicious.
bohemian chic. love it!
Viva La Vie Boheme.... Very cute.
She's a metaphor for Paris, no? Beautiful, messed-up, bohemian, elegant, old, new...
I love everything from hat to shoes :)
http://passionsforfashion.blogspot.com/
Very Cool!!
I don't think she is trying too hard...like the guy a couple weeks ago who had everything but the kitchen sink in his jacket pocket. This is just boho enough! Love it!
Très très chic avec de la salade et tout!
Kisses mon ami!
www.angelesalmuna.com
This is the coolest picture ever... it makes me want to be a Parisian. Thank you for all the great photos.
The Mad Hatter.
She's eating at Les Philosophes in Le Marais...j'adore ça!!! C'est tellement français!
Great photo! LOVE that hat!
i need that hat!!! love the socks, shoies, scarf, bag...everything
http://donotshoeme.blogspot.com/
This photo is perfectly busy just like her outfit, I love the little cluttered table!
http://ganymedekids.blogspot.com
oh, I wish I could wear these...
oh my god, i love her style!!!!!
Every detail is perfect! Adorable!
http://zuzolinska.blogspot.com/
I love her eclectic style and the setting. I think I've been inspired.
she looks like Julia Roberts...
I also think she's trying too hard.
I like the top part of the outfit and the bottom part of the outfit on their own, but together it's too much. And I don't like her scarf. It's too bulky.
I also think she's trying too hard. The top and the bottom parts of the outfit are okay individually, but together it's too much. I dont' like the bulky scarf either. But I love the mismatched socks and old shoes.
It's such a cute and quirky outfit - it makes me happy :-)
Reminds me of someone you might encounter in the Hudson Valley region of NY, Woodstock, Newburgh, Purchase, too...that little sparkler in one's day, the artist out and about in town.
breathtaking.
so eclectic.
full of inner harmonny though.
Spectacular.
Seems chaotic, yet stylish. This is now the wallpaper on my desktop! Love it!
I wish i looked as beautiful as this...elegant but cool, beautiful but interesting. Instead i am clumsy and messsy and the opposite of elegant!
Love it!!! Sort of an Andean pan flute player meets...hmmm.... chimney sweep? look. I really like that scarf!
I LOVE this. Instant favorite. Thank you!
Love the socks and the hat and the red jacket but why does she have the tablecloth wrapped around her neck?
This blog is like 90% women now. Bring back the men's fashion shots.
wow! that is absolutely... wow!
She is NOT trying too hard. She is asserting her individuality and weltanshaaung against the creatures of the commonplace. Oscar Wilde would be delighted. And I am.
She's so cool!
amazing...love it!
love! she looks like she belongs in alice in wonderland!
www.tryafashionblog.blogspot.com
I love the colors, the patterns, the hat, the shoes, the socks, the scarf....
Also some observations, as an American living in France:
She is sitting outside, when it is devilishly cold in Paris, the only reason to do so being that one is an inveterate smoker who cannot finish a salad without a cigarette.
She has a coffee at the same time as her salad, which means she is not French (one does not drink coffee with food, but after).
If she is indeed the artist Tracy Emin, then she looks incredibly good for her age. Kudos for that.
Now here's a girl who enjoys getting dressed in the morning. And it's so appropriate that she's about to eat a yummy-looking salad--because she obviously relishes life. Love her Julia Roberts hair!
My one concern: that scarf is so beautiful, and I'm afraid she's going to splash dressing on to it...
Love the shoes and the two different socks...aaah she looks so cool, the mixture of style and pattern <3
http://misanthropicpulp.blogspot.com/
I want be like her!
Love
S
I just LOVE her unpretentious elegance ...So original and unique! Hard things to find these days..
Ahh wish I were there, she looks so fab.
I want to say she looks like a disheveled mess, but it's so french, and so chic, and somehow works!
Loving the hat and the mismatched socks!
Love the hair and the hat! =D
WOW!!!
honestly this picture/outfit could not get any more perfect!
shoes are amazing. I want them!
The contrast between navy blue and vibrant red is very effective. And the messy hair... everything works!
Agree w/ Catherine like Deneuve, I highly doubt she's French; I lived in France and never knew the women to have that much quirkiness. My guess is British or American.
Looks like a mime. Id like to be sitting Paris eating lunch tho.
Oh my. This is perfect.
What a stunning photo!
I love her style very much!
awesome photo!
love this, anyone with the cash can reference any designers look book, true style comes from the individual input and this lady obviously knows that and is just lovely.
cute shoes!
http://ciaraspeaceloveandstyle.blogspot.com/
Great taste! Seems a very nice and interesting woman :) I have those rose-thights somewhere in my cupboard and will wear them tomorrow!
she's trying way too hard.. struggling with her hat about to fall..and the magazine...but her mise en scene is nice..
She should be proud of such an individual style, the restaurant should be proud of such a beautiful collection of items on the table, and you, Scott, should pat yourself on the back for this wonderful caricature of France - note the wine and perrier bottles in the back!
Thanks!
how cool is she! love the dishevelled hair
Sart, I have to say this is a fantastic shot. I don't frequent your blog to see technical photography. Instead, I view to see creative people pushing boundaries without looking foolish. This woman's style stands out and is definitely avant-fashion to me. The socks don't match, the shoes are missing laces. It's all over the place, yet it works. That is, the outfit is something being worn by a regular person on street that gives one insight about the person's personality - not some fashion insider wearing something outrageous.

this has got to be my favorite picture ever. not for the fashion, but how the picture speaks to you. it's honestly one of those pictures that communicate with you...
...it's pictures like these that inspired the quote,"a picture is worth a thousand words.."
she does indeed radiate 'artist', it's written all over her!
good job scott.
wow she looks fab with her shoes and all.
great great photo.
wow. she's amazing. the recklessness and the way she's sort of disheveled is what makes it all work. the hat and messy hair make it fabulous. thank you!!
I was getting sick of perfectly made-up models walking out of shows.
every girl should aspire to have this moment in her sartorial life, and life in general. i feel this. love it. love it! i want to have lunch with her. or maybe hope my daughter someday has a moment like this. so perfectly gamine. i condone it. love it.
gosh, this reminds me so much of my trip to paris. i want to go back!
i would never think to mis-match my argyle socks. those, paired with the well-worn brogues and cutesy leggings are what have me in awe.
such creativity!!
worldrunway.blogspot.com
so beautifully captured =)
Love how everything is so perfectly imperfect. The tossed aside bag, the magazine insert below. Diving in. It's divine.
She's simply adorable.
What about the fact that she's wearing a red blazer? I haven't seen a red blazer in years.
She looks like a colorfull bird of paradise.
i love how this outfit is a little scattered. just as the magazine and the pamphlet that has fallen out.
to her handbag on the ground.
very cute and fun.
I like everything except the socks...just sends it over the top.
so cute!
My mouth dropped open at this. I love everything about it, from the mismatched socks to the messy but beautiful hair under that wonderful hat.
This is my new favourite. By far.
This chic is awesome. I'm very inspired by her look.
She certainly has much charm and a flair for playful dressing but I can't help finding the ensemble a little too contrived - odd socks indeed!
beautiful!! love it!
What fun!!
Bellisimo el sobrero, la cita que lo rodea (de un color levemente más claro) le da una elegancia especial. Me gusta mucho el detalle del saco acorde con las pintas rojas de las medias. Los zapatos, simple y sensillamente, perfectos!
Such rich colours! What a stylish girl, I would love to meet her.
love. love. love this pict!
so so so awesome the amazing combination of different prints and colors and i love the mismatching socks! whether she couldn't find a match or purposefully likes the quirky and a bit disheveled look bravo on finding this one! her meal also looks yummy.
http://watermelonfeet.blogspot.com
great picture!
Ah..so much going on in this photo, I love it! Her scarf..her pants..the magazine, the salad, the hat..the wine bottles! I was getting a little tired of the high fashion photos here. Don't get me wrong, Hermes purses are beautiful. But seeing something like this makes me relove your blog again!
the colors, the outfit...it's quintessential Paris. Wish I was there...
http://www.stylaholic.com/Stylaholic/Blog/Blog.html
this style is much more London than Paris; I wouldn't be surprised if this character is English.
I love this photo, but it makes me want a salad avec un petit baguette so badly that I've been depressed all day. Mainly because I am not in Paris or Parma...
bisous
juju
I would agree. Trying to hard.
Fantastic. Love the shoes.
The combination is quirky! Adorable! Love the red jacket, it kinda made the other accessories pop. Mad Hatter-ish???
Perfectly bohemian!
I love the hat, the chunky scarf and the beautiful vintage brogues...
The alleyway cafe setting is so reminiscent of Melbourne (but way cooler)
Just a beautiful picture really.
It makes me want to actually inject colour into my wardrobe...
Crazy yet wonderful!
xx

That scarf. Her hat.
reminds me of tim burton's mad hatter
i wish i looked this cool every day at lunchtime!
This is not Tracy Emin, Tracy is 46-47 years old, this woman max 35.
Yeah she looks lovely, even if I don't like worn out shoes.
you've just captured the essence of that lovely, amazingly bohemian lady. this photo cheered me up immensely.:)
i hope her enviable vitality is contagious.
Just a solid picture. That girl is truly unique. I like how she mixes indigenous culture pattern with such a modern look. Very nice. The bag on the ground is a perfect book bag. Vintage?
absolutely in love with the socks and the shoes. she makes me feel a bit more stylish for resorting to wearing mismatched socks from lack of doing laundry.
absolutely in love with the socks and the shoes. she makes me feel a bit more stylish for resorting to wearing mismatched socks from lack of doing laundry.
What a treat!! ... the whole picture ... not just the meal!
this has to be one of my favorites! so much going on but so well put together.
and yes, i agree she reminds me of mad-hatter.
I can't get enough of looks and photos like this.
GENIAL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, me encanta el sombrero..
Vive la nonchalance!Unperfectly Perfect.
Wow, I like everything...J'adoooore !
looks like a set ... every detail seems to be built
instead it is the life of the road .... very beautiful
She is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cool. Love this picture.
She just looks fab! I like her hair.
Brillaint shot - style and food...what more do you need?!
http://ozwaldboateng.blogspot.com/
I love the red blazer!
But isn't it Julia Roberts, really?
So cute and cheerful. Lovely photo.
freedom, anarchy and all the colors... superb!!!.. . the picture in the table is fantatci.. but what a pity a standing photo... scott, please post one more if you have it;-))

Love the prints and colors! Especially her tights.
I admire your work and look forward to your posts.
Maybe you can do a book tour here in Japan???
just beautiful! great colours - great picture in general!
incredible mix and match, and love the hat,I think blond hair bring her mostly to georgous!
I am in love with this!
I just want to go to Paris right now and have lunch in a beautiful café. Her hat is PERFECT!
http://lhabitue.blogspot.com/
Wow. I wanna be this woman.
http://sarahhartsu.blogspot.com
Wow! I wanna be she just for a minute... Fantastic pic!
Great color contrast!
Figured it out, this must be young Julia Roberts!
Or a contemporary Julia Roberts for that matter.
This could be mrs Roberts even at her age today, if she would get away with not being recognised.
Maybe this is her camouflage - an expression of her spirit.
I love this mix of clothes so much. Joie-de-vivre through and through.
girl crush alert!
This kind of person ( so nice, colored and naif ) couldn't being found in Italy! she is a hymn to the joy of living. Great shot, great Paris.
This young woman is obviously English--NOT French. I don't care for the bohemian Alice-in-Wonderland style.
This is a really inventive look! but I am sure you know that "artist" is going too far - real creators do not need to advertise that much.
too colorful for me :)
Great find, Sart. However, this young woman is obviously English--NOT French. No Frenchwoman would be caught dead in this kind of outfit.
Wild outfit! Love it!
Amazing. And love how arty she eats and sit.
Great shot, typically Paris. Even if she is not French, there is something Parisian about her! I would love to see the Art she produces. Mismatching socks rule!
http://davidikus.blogspot.com/
ooo My she looks great! I also love the photo!
i'm obsessed with this look. after seeing alice in wonderland its very mad hatter chic.
looks like the perfect way to spend an afternoon...
how many different patterns is she wearing? I love it. especially the tights.
