That is a fuckin' sharp look. I'd totally wear that. I like it especially as it would look sharp on most any guy, not just the good-looking ones.

Blogger Hannah said ... (5:46 PM) :

awesome colour combination. is it just me or is this guy actually pulling off a receding hairline?

I'm digging all of this - the cool blue shades (a la Steve McQueen), the caramel gloves, gingham check shirt, and sporty sport coat! Wish I could relate to other pics like this one.

Anonymous Indie Mom and the Reluctant Banker said ... (6:11 PM) :

I'm sort of sceptical about the pants but the brown and blue combo looks nice. As does his smile.

Blogger the brown man said ... (7:09 PM) :

Mr. CORTINA --

It is always a pleasure to see photographs of him. It's always the subtleties that separate him; from the wider lapels and rolled on the corduroy jacket (looks a lot like a Tom Ford cut); to the gloves in the breast pocket. Simple styling, perfect execution.

His sunglasses remind me of those worn by Adrien Brody in The Darjeeling Limited. Anyone know where Mr. Cortina's are from?

Blogger Will Davies said ... (7:10 PM) :

if this said 'Mr Derivatives Broker, Fulham', it would still work. And that's not meant as a complement.

Blogger Giulia said ... (7:15 PM) :

Very beautiful combinations of color between the brown jacket and beige trousers.
Spectacular spontaneity of smile! :-)

Anonymous Agyesh said ... (7:35 PM) :

Ahhhh.. Mr. Cortina... Don't you just get it right every time... Respect...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:53 PM) :

I liked the crispness of the blue tattersall shirt against the soft velvet brown of the jacket. Also white pants, yahoo!

Blogger Members Only Last Member said ... (7:59 PM) :

Nice. Is that moleskin or velvet/cashco jacket?

Blogger Unknown said ... (8:02 PM) :

OMG <3. Now to get away from the moronic crush-talk I love this photo, it's great to see him smiling and looking like he is naturally enjoying himself.IMO the jacket is wonderful (is that brown velvet?) and the wide lapels are just my thing. I wish I could get my shirt collar to stand so perfectly and yet naturally like that, and that hint of glove! Masculine elegance to a T!

Blogger Lisa Petrarca said ... (8:19 PM) :

Absolute perfection! The blue/brown color combo is cool. He has it down...every last detail, even the gloves in pocket says, "I'm cool!"

Blogger Erik said ... (8:23 PM) :

I love how crisp the chocolate brown jacket is against the bight pants and shirt. But I think the gloves peeking out of the pocket makes this picture for me.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:28 PM) :

is that velvet?

Blogger Rock Couture said ... (8:29 PM) :

Super Chic! Great shot!

Anonymous HW90 said ... (8:34 PM) :

Always looks fantastic. So classic, yet so current. Mature and athletic come to mind. And he looks so comfortable, which can't be said for a lot of the gents in these photos. A definite original and a sartorial inspiration.

Anonymous Well Done said ... (8:42 PM) :

he looks great.

Anonymous king of style said ... (8:42 PM) :

What I love about this guy is he doesn't try to hard-effortless is such a hard look. The look isn't 'in your face, look at me', but very simple and understated. He knows what suits him, and that is what makes him stand out! The ultimate style icon.

Best dressed man of the World !

Blogger Laguna Beach Fogey said ... (8:29 AM) :

Superb! I'm not sure about the sunglasses, though. This outfit would look best on guys who are fit and good-looking.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:55 AM) :

Sart, why are your photographs looking increasingly retouched?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:20 AM) :

Granted he is gorgeous; however, it's the details - the five o'clock shadow - the watch slightly showing - the perfect blue of the checked shirt. You could put this look on hundreds of guys but they couldn't pull it off at all. He just has that whole "what is all the fuss about" awesome cool.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:40 AM) :

I loved the coulours!! I really love blue and brown!

Blogger Allen - East Hampton said ... (10:07 AM) :

No matter what, this guy always looks like a million bucks. No gimmicks; he just knows clothes and wears them very well.

Blogger The Shitty Astrologer said ... (10:11 AM) :

Sharp-dressed man seems a little camera shy...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:23 AM) :

You can't ever go wrong with a blue gingham shirt, they're just a great staple and every man should own one.

I'm wearing one today!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:36 AM) :

You should provide an easy way to search more pictures of a specific model. Tags would do.

Well, that's true of any outfit, but what I like about this one is that you don't have to be fit and good-looking to wear it.

Blogger robinson said ... (4:31 PM) :

i agree with the guy above who says this is standard sloane/eurotrash chic. he pulls it off despite this.
sartorialist, when are you going back to real people not just endless examples of what the fashion in-pack are wearing? do you simply not move in that world any more?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:31 PM) :

again we are seeing a distinct lack of footwear at the moment - would be intriguing to see how he was dealing with Paris winter as I have never seen Mr Cortina wearing socks.

Blogger sm said ... (2:25 PM) :

@Anonymous (RJ) his name is George (or perhaps Jorge, he's from Miami) Cortina. Successful and well-known stylist. I'd love to know who the jacket is by. It was freezing in Paris, so this outfit was not exactly appropriate for the weather.
